Previously on The Hills…
Lauren: (V.O.) Spencer
ended his friendship with Brody because Brody was hanging out with me.
Spencer: You are rolling
around with my enemy so that makes you my enemy.
Lauren: (V.O.) Even
though I said Brody and I were just friends…
Frankie: I think he got
a little jealous.
Lauren: I really don’t
have feelings for Brody.
Lo: Well, you did for a
second in Vegas.
Lauren: (V.O.) I was
starting to wonder maybe there was something between us after all.
Brody: How about I watch
a movie with you? What movie is it?
Lauren: Does it really
matter?
Lauren: (V.O.) Lisa had
challenged us to find a location for Teen Vogue’s Young Hollywood party.
Lisa: Amy Astley’s
decided that she wanted a fashion house involved. And I want a lot more people
this year.
Lauren: (V.O.) And after
a lot of hard work, Whitney thought she had found finally the perfect place.
CUT TO: Church
Whitney is showing the
location she has chosen for the Young Hollywood party to the staff of Teen
Vogue.
Lisa: Oh my gosh. It’s
amazing.
Whitney: It’s gorgeous,
right?
Lisa: It’s beautiful.
Whitney: Yeah. There’s
just so much you can do with it, so much space. See? This is what I was talking
about with the confessionals on the sides…
Lisa: Right. Well we
could hide those. We could hide the confessionals. It’s gonna…yeah…
Whitney: I was thinking
maybe we could put like some photo booths in them or something.
Guy: It could be fun.
Whitney: Yeah. We were
thinking maybe like the band up there and the runway down the middle.
Guy: Totally. Yeah just
right down the middle for sure.
Whitney: And I know back
there is um, a big changing section so…
Guy: Yup exactly.
Lisa: This is such a
huge space. And it’s an absolutely beautiful space and don’t get me wrong but
they’re…we’re gonna have to make it look like there’s a lot of people in it. I
think we have to draw it. I mean I think we have to look at it.
Guy: I’ll pull together
a bunch of references and furniture ideas and drawings.
Whitney: Right ‘cause
she’s gonna have…I know Amy’s gonna have to…I mean need every detail in front
of her.
Guy: Flowers…
Whitney: Visually so…
Lisa: Many more
discussions now that we’ve found the space. Thank you, Well done.
Whitney: Thank you.
Lisa: Great.
CUT TO: Opening Credits
CUT TO: Teen Vogue
Offices
Lauren and Whitney enter
Lisa’s office.
Lisa: Hi Whitney.
Whitney: Hi.
Lisa: How are you? Hi
Lauren.
Whitney: Good how are
you? (They shut the door and sit down)
Lisa: So we’re gonna
send you to New York again. You both been?
Lauren: Yeah, yeah.
Lisa: You’re uh, gonna
go on the red eye to meet with Amy Astley and her whole staff to present
everything that we discussed for the Young Hollywood party.
Whitney: Okay.
Lisa: So you’ll do the
whole run through as we did…Viviana…
Whitney: Right.
Lisa: She needs to see
all the pictures…
Whitney: Yeah.
Lisa: And you should
take all the inspiration…
Whitney: Right.
Lisa: And all the
changes that we made…
Whitney: This is them?
Lisa: These are the ones
that we had and Amy’s seen these.
Whitney: Mm-hmm.
Lisa: But the ones with
all the new ideas, she…
Whitney: She hasn’t seen
any of this?
Lisa: She hasn’t seen
any of that.
Whitney: Okay.
Lisa: So you want to get
the drawings…
Whitney: Right.
Lisa: And then…
Whitney: The color
scheme and the flowers…
Lisa: And then you’ll
come back right after the meeting.
Whitney: Right.
Lisa: So you know that
it’s serious business in New York. You’ll do a great job, I count on you and
come back successfully and quickly, okay?
Whitney: Okay.
Lauren: Thank you.
Whitney: Thank you.
Lisa: Bye. (They get up
and leave Lisa’s office. Cut to the office Lauren and Whitney share. They sit
down at their desks)
Whitney: Oh man. I can’t
believe it.
Lauren: I haven’t been
to New York in so long.
Whitney: And we get to
go together.
Lauren: I’m excited.
Whitney: I’m really
excited. I didn’t want to make this presentation by myself. As soon as she was
like ‘You’re going to New York’, I just like…my closet ran through my brain. I
was like ‘Oh my god…what am I gonna wear?’
Lauren: Obviously. Do
you know what’s so funny?
Whitney: What?
Lauren: I totally have a
dress on reserve…
Whitney: You do?
Lauren: For our next
meeting with Amy Astley. So I don’t even have to shop now.
CUT TO: Bolthouse
Offices
Spencer parks his car,
gets out and heads inside. As he does, he runs into Frankie who is leaving
after having picked up his check.
Spencer: Oh look who it
is.
Frankie: What up? (They
high five)
Spencer: What’s up? I
haven’t seen you in so long.
Frankie: (To person on
the phone) Let me call you back. (Hangs up the phone)
Spencer: What are you
doing here, picking up a little paycheck?
Frankie: Yup, I do
Saturdays at Area with Brent. I haven’t seen you in, what, three months?
Spencer: It’s been a
while. I’ve been chilling.
Frankie: So Brody left
you a message on your birthday. We called you on your birthday, we didn’t get a
call back.
Spencer: With Brody and
I, it’s as simple as this. I’ve been Brody’s loyal best friend for so many
years, I’ve defended him, I’ve fought for him, and then he started hanging out
with LC, who all she does is bash my name, try to tear up my relationship with
Heidi, all these things, right?
Frankie: Lauren’s my
friend, Brody’s my friend and he should be able to hang out with whoever he
wants and if you can’t accept that, then you guys are never gonna be friends.
He called you on your birthday, maybe that was a little way to reach out to
you.
Spencer: Well…
Frankie: You wanna
continue a friendship with him, you go reach out and you go call him and you go
talk to him.
Spencer: It’s all about
moving forward.
Frankie: All right. I
gotta go spend my money. (Frankie leaves and Spencer goes out and it cuts to
inside where Heidi comes to meet Spencer)
Heidi: Hi you ready to
go to lunch?
Spencer: (Heidi sits
down with him) You’re never gonna guess who I just ran into.
Heidi: Who?
Spencer: Frankie
Delgado.
Heidi: Oh yeah he works
for Brent sometimes. What’d he have to say?
Spencer: He was just
like ‘You gotta understand there’s too sides of it like Brody can’t believe you
wouldn’t be friends with him over talking to Lauren’. I was like dude it’s not
about that Frankie. It’s about that I wouldn’t do that and Brody’s not the kind
of friend I have been and will be to him. So many people have said bad things
about Brody. Am I friends with those people? Yeah right. It’s like that’s the
difference between Brody and I. He would be friends with somebody who says bad
things about me. I wouldn’t do that with my friends.
Heidi: Right.
Spencer: I mean I have…I
don’t care, I really don’t.
Heidi: Well…
CUT TO: That Night – LAX
Airport
Lauren and Whitney’s
flight to New York takes off.
CUT TO: New York
Their flight lands. It
shows views of the city. It is daytime due to the time change difference between
LA and New York.
CUT TO: Taxi Cab
Lauren and Whitney are
heading to the Teen Vogue headquarters for the presentation. The taxi stops and
they get out and walk to Teen Vogue. Whitney is holding all of the board she
needs for the presentation.
Lauren: Ready?
Whitney: Yeah. (They go
inside Teen Vogue. Cut to inside Teen Vogue. They get out of the elevator and
go to the front desk)
Lauren: (To
receptionist) Hey we’re here to see Amy Astley.
Receptionist: Okay you
can just have a seat over there and her assistant will be right out to get you.
Lauren: Okay thanks.
Whitney: Thank you.
(They go and sit down) We really stepped it up here.
Lauren: Do I look like
Teen Vogue Barbie?
Whitney: (Closes in on
her dress) I don’t think I would ever wear this in the office. It’s just like a
whole different world out here.
Lauren: Did you practice
at all?
Whitney: Um, not really.
I’m a little nervous. (She touches her arms) I’m like dripping. (Amy’s
assistant opens the door behind them)
Woman: Lauren and
Whitney?
Lauren: Hi.
Woman: Come on in. (They
get up and walk in)
CUT TO: Amy Astley’s
Office
Amy: (To people leaving
her office) All right girls. Thank you. See you in the morning. (They leave
just as Lauren and Whitney walk in)
Lauren: Hi.
Amy: Hi Lauren nice to
see you. (Shakes Lauren’s hand)
Lauren: How are you?
Amy: How you doing?
Lauren: Good.
Amy: Good to see you.
(Her assistant leaves)
Whitney: Hi.
Amy: Hi Whitney. (Shakes
her purse since Whitney’s hands are full) Got all your stuff?
Whitney: Yeah.
Amy: Okay have a seat
girls. Great to see you guys
Whitney: You too.
(Lauren sits down, as does Amy) Sorry. (Whitney sits down her boards for the
meeting then sits down)
Amy: Whitney it looks
like you have all your presentation…
Whitney: Yes.
Amy: For the Young
Hollywood meeting.
Whitney: Ready to go.
Amy: Right. I’m looking
forward to hearing that this afternoon with the staff. I think having the Marc
by Marc Jacobs show there…it’s gonna be a week after the New York show and he’s
never done that before and to, you know, restage a show, especially in LA, so
I’m happy that we were able to convince him that that’s a good thing to do. And
actually, Lauren I have heard from Lisa Love that you are a big fan of Marc
Jacobs.
Lauren: Mm-hmm. He’s my
favorite?
Amy: He’s your favorite?
Lauren: Yeah.
Amy: I’ve spoken to
Kate Waters, who works with Marc and she said she’d love to meet you and talk
to you…
Lauren: Oh wow.
Amy: So we have to send
you down to Marc Jacobs.
Lauren: Okay.
Amy: Now actually.
Lauren: Oh okay. So I’m
not doing the meeting?
Amy: No you’re not gonna
do the Young Hollywood meeting. Um, Whitney can handle it and it will take
about twenty minutes to get downtown. Do you know your way around New York?
Lauren: Uh, not…
Amy: Taxi time!
Lauren: Right?
Amy: Seventy two spring.
Lauren: Okay now?
Amy: You’re going now.
Lauren: All right. (Gets
up) Okay. (To Whitney) Bye.
Whitney: Bye. (Lauren
runs out of Amy’s office to the elevator. She pushes the button repeatedly. When
it comes, she gets in. It cuts to outside in the city. She gets in a taxi cab)
Lauren: Seventy two
spring street and I’m really in a hurry. (The cab drives away)
CUT TO: New York
The taxi cab stops in
traffic.
Lauren: I’m just gonna
get out here. (She opens the door and gets out, walking the rest of the way.
She walks into Marc Jacobs Designs Studios)
CUT TO: Inside Marc
Jacobs Studios
Lauren walks up to the
front desk.
Lauren: (To
receptionist) Hi I’m here to see Kate Waters. I’m Lauren from Teen Vogue.
Receptionist: (On the
phone) Hi Kate. Lauren’s here. (Kate comes out)
Kate: (To Lauren) You
Lauren?
Lauren: Mm-hmm.
Kate: Hi I’m Kate
Waters.
Lauren: Oh hi. (They
shake hands) Nice to meet you.
Kate: Nice to meet you.
How are you?
Lauren: Good.
Kate: Come back with me
actually. (Lauren follows her to another area) We’re working today…we’re…you
know we have our fashion show next week so we’re doing a big casting today so
Amy said maybe you might be able to help with that.
Lauren: Yup of course.
Kate: I know maybe you
didn’t think you were gonna be doing this today. Do you want other shoes?
Lauren: No I’m fine
thank you.
Kate: We really
appreciate it. (Leads Lauren to Michelle, the casting director) We have a lot
going on so let me introduce you to Michelle.
Michelle: Hi Lauren.
Kate: (To Michelle) I
wanna introduce you to Lauren. (Michelle shakes Lauren’s hand)
Lauren: Nice to meet
you.
Kate: Michelle will let
you know how you can help and what you’re gonna be doing.
Michelle: Let’s
introduce you to Venetia. (Leads Lauren over to Venetia, who is the stylist)
This is Venetia Scott. She’s our stylist.
Lauren: Hi I’m Lauren
nice to meet you (Shakes her hand)
Venetia: Lauren nice to
meet you too.
Michelle: So I guess
I’ll have you kind of like running back and forth, doing a lot of different
things but for the most part you’re just gonna be stationed right here.
Lauren: Oh okay.
Michelle: You’ll have to
do the finish styling. Tuck them in, tie their bows, give them shoes and then
send them to me and I really want them to be 100% styled.
Lauren: Okay. Thanks.
(Michelle leaves)
CUT TO: Teen Vogue
Headquarters
They’re all in a
conference room for the Young Hollywood meeting. Amy walks in the room.
Amy: Hi guys. So Whitney
I’m so glad you could come from LA to spearhead our Young Hollywood meeting
today. (She sits down) This is Whitney’s first time to present to us as a
member of our staff, not just as an intern. So we’re counting on you. And um, why
don’t you go ahead and take us through the uh, location first?
Whitney: Okay, okay.
(She gets up and walks over to where her boards are standing up) So I have all
these boards. Um, what I just wanted to start out with is kind of like the
birds eye view of the whole surrounding area and the church. This will… (Points
to an area) you’ll come in right here and go straight outside…
Amy: Is there valet for
the cars?
Whitney: There will be
valet, yes.
Amy: Okay.
Whitney: So we’ll do the
pictures and then they’ll immediately go outside.
Amy: So they go out to
the garden?
Whitney: They go out to
the garden. (Grabs another board)
Amy: Let’s see the
garden.
Whitney: There’s this
huge tree in the middle (Replaces the first board with one of the tree and the
garden) that they want to um, hang chandeliers from and…
Amy: How many
chandeliers?
Whitney: Um…hmm…um…I’m
not sure on the number.
Amy: ‘Cause too many’s a
little…
Whitney: Yeah.
Amy: A little too much.
Whitney: So…yeah…um…what
do I have here? I have all these (Picks up more boards) outside…I know they’re
working with a lot of wicker maybe (Holds up a board with pictures of furniture
on it as members of the staff pass around the boards she had recently shown)
Kimball: This is
actually…looks a little…
Amy: Boring?
Kimball: Weathered.
Woman: This is just not
right.
Amy: You think it’s too
brown?
Woman: Yes.
Whitney: Um…(She has
replaced the furniture board with another one and is pointing at it) So there
is a straight runway will just be a carpet…
Amy: Mm…I think no
carpet.
Whitney: Okay.
Amy: Too sloppy.
(Whitney puts that board down)
Woman: It just makes it
less complicated as well to get the party started after the show.
Amy: Exactly. We don’t
have to roll it up. No carpet.
Whitney: Okay so we’ll
nix the idea. And…okay so then (Refers to boards with pictures of flowers that
are leaned up against the wall) these are the florals…
Amy: Where are these
flowers going exactly? Where do they go?
Whitney: Um…I think that
um…probably lining…maybe lining the side of the walls…
Amy: They look like
table top arrangements to me. (Whitney sits down at the table again) So you can
go back and (Whitney is writing in a pad) maybe fine tune some of these things.
Whitney: Okay.
Amy: All right good.
Whitney: Thank you. (She
laughs. Then it cuts to everyone leaving the room as Whitney packs up her
stuff)
CUT TO: Marc Jacobs
Design Studio
Models are walking for
Michelle and it then cuts to Lauren putting the finishing touches on the
models. She is putting a jacket on one. Cuts to models getting photos taken
then to Lauren looking through shoes. She finds the pair she is looking for and
hands them to a model. Cuts to models walking as Lauren watches.
Michelle: (Comes over to
Lauren as Lauren is putting a belt on a model) Are they dressed? You gotta be
quick come on. Lauren, you’re gonna wanna pay attention to this. If a girl
comes back and the shorts are too big, then clip them right in the back. (She
does it, which Lauren watches)
Lauren: All right. (To a
model putting on shoes) Here you go. You can slip those on. I’ll clip ‘em for
you. (It cuts to the model walking away and Lauren flops down in exhaustion. It
cuts to Lauren alphabetizing)
Kate: Lauren. (Marc
Jacobs walks in)
Marc: Hi.
Kate: I’m just gonna
introduce you to Marc.
Lauren: Hi.
Marc: Hello, hi. (Shakes
Lauren’s hand)
Lauren: Hi nice to meet
you.
Marc: Hi nice to meet
you. What you doing?
Lauren: I’m
alphabetizing.
Marc: You’re
alphabetizing? That’s very important. (She laughs) it was nice to meet you.
Lauren: You too.
Marc: Take care. (He
walks away)
CUT TO: Lauren &
Whitney’s Hotel
They are packing to go
home to LA.
Whitney: I packed so
much stuff, I hardly wore any of it.
Lauren: My bag was like
full. I got to meet Marc Jacobs.
Whitney: I can’t believe
it.
Lauren: I’m gonna go
like…(Zips up her bag) give Lisa Love a hug and then run away ‘cause I’m afraid
of what she’ll do to me. (Whitney laughs)
Whitney: So I never
really heard from Amy about how I did in the presentation.
Lauren: I wonder if
she’s given a report to Lisa yet.
Whitney: I know. I
wonder what Lisa will say when I get back. I’m really curious. You never know
what’s said behind closed doors, you know?
Lauren: Well I’m sure
we’ll find out at that tasting tomorrow. (They gather up their stuff) Are you
ready?
Whitney: Yeah.
Lauren: Back to LA we
go. (Puts on a hat)
Whitney: Sad to say
goodbye.
Lauren: I’m happy to go
home.
Whitney: Yeah.
Lauren: I miss Brody.
Whitney: Aw…
Lauren: I mean not that
I didn’t have fun with you but…
Whitney: We’ll be back.
Lauren: Yeah. (They
leave the hotel room. Cuts to outside the hotel as they hail a cab)
Whitney: (To Cab driver)
Hi how are you? (He puts their bags in the trunk as they get in the cab)
Lauren: (As cab driver
pulls out into traffic) JFK airport please. (It cuts to the cab driving to JFK)
CUT TO: That Night – LA
– Heidi & Spencer’s Apartment
Spencer is there by
himself. He calls Brody on his cell phone and gets his voicemail.
Brody’s Voicemail: Hi
you’ve reached Brody. Leave me a message and I’ll call you back as soon as
possible. (It beeps)
Spencer: Yo Brody,
what’s up? It’s Spencer. Uh, hit me up. There’s some things we need to talk
about. (He hangs up)
CUT TO: The Next Day –
Patina Restaurant – the Teen Vogue Tasting
Lauren and Whitney walk
inside and up to the host stand.
Lauren: Hi.
Host: Welcome to Patina.
Whitney: Hi. We’re here
for the Teen Vogue tasting.
Host: (Looks at a list)
Yes you are actually the first to arrive. Would you like to have a seat at the
bar?
Whitney: Yeah sure thank
you.
Host: You’re welcome.
(They go sit down by the bar)
Lauren: The food here is
really good. I think it’ll be perfect for the Young Hollywood party.
Whitney: I’m so excited.
Lauren: I’m so hungry.
Whitney: Me too. I’m a
little nervous. I still haven’t heard how I did in the presentation. But…Lisa’s
the first one to tell us when we’ve done something wrong. (She laughs)
Sucks…(To Lisa, who has just arrived with others from Teen Vogue) Hi.
Lauren: Hi.
Lisa: Hi how are you?
Whitney: Good how are
you?
Others: Hi.
Lauren: Hello.
Whitney: How are you?
Guy: (Hugs Whitney) Good
to see you. (Cuts to them at their table)
Lisa: Whitney you’re
over here. (They all sit down) Well while we’re waiting for…um…I spoke to Amy
this morning and she said the meeting went well and they said that the whole
presentation was great. Overall, New York is very excited about the party. I
heard about the dress you were wearing.
Whitney: Was it bad?
Lisa: Well it was very
dressy, wasn’t it? (Whitney has a oh my god look on her face as everyone
laughs) Well I will expect you to be in the office like that every day now.
(They all laugh)
Whitney: Cheers.
Guy: Cheers. (They all
hold their glasses up)
Whitney: To the Young
Hollywood party.
Lauren: To the Young
Hollywood party. (They do cheers)
CUT TO: That Night –
Hillside Villas
The doorbell rings.
Lauren goes to the door and opens it and it is Brody.
Brody: Surprise!
Lauren: Hello!
Brody: What up? (She
gives him a hug) Oh! The two hug! I don’t get the one arm hug?
Lauren: Come on in. (She
shuts the door after he comes inside)
Brody: A lot of candles
in here. You trying to set the mood here? (They sit down on the couch) So what
about New York? Tell me. How’d it go?
Lauren: It went really
well. Basically we got there and she was like…I didn’t even know what I was
doing when I went to the meeting and she like sent me away immediately to go
downtown and go to the model casting for Marc Jacobs and I got to help out and
I actually got to meet him. Um…So are you okay? What’s goin’ on?
Brody: Yeah I
uh…Spencer…
Lauren: Spencer?
Brody: He called and
left me a message. He was reaching out, he misses me and, you know…So I haven’t
called him back yet and I don’t think I’m going to.
Lauren: You don’t want
to make up with him?
Brody: You know, I love
Spencer but I don’t think I could ever look at him the same ever. It’s like I
just don’t ever think that we’ll be best friends again.
Lauren: Well I know that
the reason like you guys stopped, stopped talking was because he was bothered
that you were hanging out with me. I just don’t want to be responsible at all
for breaking up a friendship, especially not one that lasted so long, you know
what I mean?
Brody: I made this
decision. I…the only reason why I don’t want to talk to him is for my own
reasons. So listen. I think there’s too many pillows in between us. Maybe you
know scoot a little and come give me a hug or something? (She scoots over and
he outs his arm around her) Oh…Give me a hug. All right. (She moves a little
and then leans on him) Now I’m cozy.
Lauren: Are you?
Brody: A little bit. How
about we forget all the BS? I’ll always be there for you and you’ll always be
there for me.
Lauren: Okay.
Brody: Okay?
Lauren: K. (He kisses
the top of her head) My candles worked, didn’t they?
Brody: They did
actually. (She laughs) What you got in those things? (It cuts to an air view of
the city)
