Previously on The Hills…

Spencer: You are rolling around with my enemy so that makes you my enemy.

Brody: Little bitch.

Lauren: (V.O.) When Spencer broke up with Brody, Heidi’s social circle got a little smaller. So she focused even more energy towards work. Audrina was keeping her distance from Justin after he refused to make her his girlfriend.

Justin: Like are you guys boyfriend/girlfriend? Like who f**king cares?

Lauren: (V.O.) But he was never far from her mind. And for once, my career and my personal life were under control. Why is just that when you get things together, you hear from the one person who could pull it all apart?

CUT TO: Teen Vogue Offices

Lauren: (Walks in) Hey.

Whitney: Hey.

Lauren: How are you?

Whitney: Good how are you?

Lauren: Good. (Sits down in her seat)

Whitney: What’s going on with you?

Lauren: Jason called me last night.

Whitney: What? No way. (Lauren nods) Where is he right now?

Lauren: He’s over in Orange County in a rehab center so... he got out today and he’s stoked.

Whitney: How long has it been since you’ve spoken to him?

Lauren: I don’t know when. Like…I feel like the last time I really like caught…like met up with him was to drop off his things.

Whitney: So what’d he say? He just wants to know how you’re doing or?

Lauren: He wants to like meet and catch up.

Whitney: So do you want to?

Lauren: I feel like he has just a way of everytime I start to have everything back together and everything’s good, he’s like…

Whitney: He slips right on in.

Lauren: He must have like a pager. It’s like everything’s going good in Lauren’s life…(Makes vibrates sound and pretends there’s a beeper, making Whitney laugh) I gotta call her.

Whitney: Time to show up. (She laughs)

CUT TO: Opening Credits

CUT TO: Equinox Gym

Audrina and Lauren are working out with trainer Jarett

Jarett: Back straight Audrina, let’s go.

Audrina: Fifteen…

Jarett: Fifteen keep it going. You have five more. (Lauren is lifting a weight behind her back) Go Lauren two more. You guys have good form, must have a good trainer. (Cuts to Lauren and Audrina doing jumping jacks) We’re gonna get you sweaty. (Cuts to them doing push ups) Push ups, finish the workout strong, let’s go. Five…all the way down. (Lauren laughs as she tries to do a push up. Cuts to them lifting weights) (To Lauren) What’s wrong?

Lauren: My phone just rang.

Jarett: You don’t have your phone with you, do you?

Lauren: No.

Jarett: Oh.

Lauren: It’s in my purse.

Jarett: Good.

Lauren: You know like dog whistles, like only a dog can hear ‘em. It’s kinda like that with my Blackberry, no one will hear it and I’m like ‘My phone’s ringing’. (Cut to Jarett holding up Lauren’s leg) Have you done boot camp?

Jarett: No.

Lauren: You haven’t done it?

Jarett: No. I teach boot camps.

Lauren: K I’m sorry, so you haven’t gone to it?

Jarett: No. I haven’t.

Lauren: ‘Cause you know, we were out last night and some guy was saying that…Ow…it wasn’t that hard.

Jarett: I have a buddy that works over there.

Lauren: What’s his name?

Jarett: Derek.

Lauren: Ah…that was him.

Jarett: Who, Derek?

Lauren: Mm-hmm.

Jarett: You met Derek?

Lauren: Yeah.

Jarett: What do you think of him?

Lauren: He’s a nice guy.

Jarett: The four of us should go out tonight.

Lauren: Okay.

Jarett: Where we going?

Lauren: Lola’s.

Jarett: Lola’s.

Audrina: It’s like our favorite place. We go there all the time.

Lauren: We love it.

Jarett: Yeah we’re doing shots too.

Lauren: What kind of trainer are you, telling me to take shots?

Jarett: Once a week. (They all laugh. Cut to Audrina and Lauren leaving the gym and sitting at a table outside)

Lauren: So nice out today.

Audrina: So was that Jason who called during the workout?

Lauren: Yeah. Yeah he wants to get together. Has Justin called you yet?

Audrina: He keeps calling me but I’m not answering.

Lauren: Don’t you hate that? Like bad guys? You’re like ‘I just want to get over you…I just want you out of my life’ and as soon as you stop thinking about ‘em, they’ll like send you a text message or they’ll call you.

Audrina: Oh always. And you know what?

Lauren: ‘Cause they know you just stopped thinking about ‘em. It’s like a radar.

Audrina: Yeah so…we’re gonna go out and have fun. No more Justin. Or Jason. Only new boys.

Lauren: To us. (They do cheers and they laugh)

CUT TO: Bolthouse Offices

Elodie is talking to someone when Heidi walks in.

Co-Worker:…Put them through the machine, have them stamped, mail them out, so we need to do return labels…

Heidi: Good morning.

Elodie: Hi good morning.

Heidi: What are you guys doing?

Elodie: Oh uh not much. Did you hear about the new job opening?

Heidi: No, what?

Elodie: There’s an opening for a new job for um, an events director and I think that…

Heidi: Oh!

Elodie: I know! (Pointing to a nearby empty office) It comes with its own office! (Heidi laughs)

Heidi: (They go look at the office) So much space in here.

Elodie: I know. I’m dying for my own office.

Heidi:…Big this office is here.

Elodie: I am dying for my own office.

Heidi: Yeah. It’s like a step up.

Elodie: Yeah, a lot more client interaction and stuff like that so…I don’t know when they’re gonna hire…

Heidi: Sounds like a big job.

Elodie: I know. (They laugh) I don’t know when they’re gonna hire anyone for it but hopefully they promote within.

Heidi: Yeah definitely.

Elodie: Definitely gonna talk to Brent about it.

Heidi: You should.

Elodie: Yeah I mean I definitely think I’m ready and I’ve worked here for two years.

Heidi: That’s it?

Elodie: Yeah over…a little over two years.

Heidi: So you started right before I did?

Elodie: A year before. Yeah. You know, I’ve worked pretty hard so hopefully Brent will…

Heidi: Acknowledge that?

Elodie: Acknowledge it.

Heidi: When are you gonna talk to him?

Elodie: I don’t know. I’ll have to check his schedule and then set up an appointment. (Heidi turns around, looking at the office space)

CUT TO: Heidi & Spencer’s Apartment

Heidi: Hello!

Spencer: Hey, hey! (Heidi sighs as she sits down)

Heidi: I have some good news.

Spencer: I love good news. (Heidi laughs)

Heidi: There’s um, a position opening up at Bolthouse. I guess Brent’s looking for someone to be like the Event Director.

Spencer: Ooh! Event Director? Very legit.

Heidi: But um, I think that Elodie was saying she might wanna…

Spencer: You beyond deserve it. And I think you should do whatever it takes to get that position. I’m ready to help you step up.

Heidi: You’re ready to help me?

Spencer: Whatever you need from me.

Heidi: It would be amazing. I’d get my own office and my own assistant…

Spencer: And guess who I think deserves it the most?

CUT TO: That Night – Lola’s

Lauren and Audrina go inside to meet Derek and Jarett.

Derek: Hey in New Jersey there’s dudes with their heads shaved and then they have like no hair here, just a tail.

Jarett: That’s a mullet. (Sees Lauren and Audrina who have arrived at the table) Hey!

Audrina: Hi.

Lauren: Hi. How are you?

Jarett: How are you?

Derek: What’s up?

Audrina: Hi.

Jarett: How are you, baby? (Hugs Audrina)

Lauren: Hello.

Derek: Good to see you.

Lauren: How are you? (Hugs Derek) You too.

Derek: Good.  (Everyone sits down)

Jarett: (To Audrina) That’s a cool ring.

Audrina: Thank you.

Jarett: Let me see it. (Holds out his palm and she hits it with the ring)

Audrina: I should wear it next time we work out.

Derek: (To Audrina) Where are you from? Are you from here originally?

Audrina: I was born here but raised in Orange County.

Derek: You ever been to the East Coast?

Audrina: I’ve been to New York.

Derek: New York’s not bad.

Lauren: How’s Jersey different?

Audrina: (Talking to Jarett) Yeah.

Derek: A lot of construction there going on…and like…it’s cool, I mean it’s…

Lauren: They build a lot?

Derek: We…we’re builders.

Lauren: Why do you have a Michigan State t-shirt?

Derek: ‘Cause it cost 0.40 cents in a thrift store.

Lauren: That’s a good reason to wear it.

Derek: Well now thrift stores are like fifty, sixty bucks for shirts. I was in one the other day in Melrose, it was like, it’s vintage seventy bucks. I’m like ‘I bought…I have like nine shirts at home that were all 0.40 cents’. Now vintage is like more trendy. That’s why they can mark it up, you know what I’m saying? Isn’t it weird that I can buy a shirt for 0.40 cents and then a year later, I can probably find the same shirt that’s gonna be forty bucks?

Lauren: It’s very weird.

Derek: I know. I found that out, that’s why I got ‘em all before I got…out here.

Lauren: Good show. (Gives a work look towards Audrina)

CUT TO: Les Deux NightClub

Audrina, Lauren, Derek and Jarett sit down.

Derek: I kind of like you more than everyone I’ve ever met.

Lauren: No you don’t.

Derek: What? What if I don’t stop thinking about you? Is that a bad thing? In a non-psychotic way. Maybe I’m psychotic. Maybe I murdered some people, but… (Lauren gets a weird look on her face) In high school I dated a girl for seven years.

Lauren: Be honest. You totally have a girlfriend issues, don’t you?

Derek: Not at all.

Lauren: I had a boyfriend for like a year and I have like a million issues from that.

Derek: Well then that’s your problem. I mean, I had… (She gives him a ‘what did you just say’ look) No, in a nice way of saying…

Lauren: That’s not a nice of saying that…

Derek: Yes it is. (Audrina, seeing what is going on, goes over to Lauren)

Audrina: Lauren.

Lauren: Yeah.

Audrina: I’m gonna go pee. You have to go pee? (Lauren nods. She follows Audrina into the bathroom)

Jarett: (To Derek) How are you Lauren doin’? All right?

Derek: Is it too early to propose? (Cuts to outside the bathroom door, where we hear all of what Lauren and Audrina are discussing inside)

Lauren: He thinks I like him.

Audrina: He thinks you like him?

Lauren: Seriously. I never wanted to stab myself in the eye more. (Cuts to them going back to the table. Lauren sits next to Audrina this time. She looks over at Derek who sticks his tongue out at her. She lowers herself on her seat to hide from him)

CUT TO: The Next Day – Teen Vogue Offices

Lauren walks in to the office she shares with Whitney.

Lauren: Hey.

Whitney: Hi. (Lauren puts her bag down) What’s going on with you?

Lauren: Just got back from school.

Whitney: How was school?

Lauren: (Looking through her bag) Glad to be out of the classroom. Are we working in here today?

Whitney: Yeah. I’m supposed to color coordinate these clothes right here.

Lauren: Give me my job boss man.

Whitney: Well basically that’s your job. (They laugh)

Lauren: (Pulls off a red dress) I think I can figure it out.

Whitney: (Laughs) Okay. So what’s up? What’s new?

Lauren: Nothing. I’m just tired ‘cause I was out late last night and now I’m sleepy. (Moves a hanger to the front)

Whitney: Ooh…what were you doing so late last night?

Lauren: Me and Audrina (Takes more clothes from the rack and moves them as they talk) went out with Jarett and this kid Derek.

Whitney: Jarett, as in our trainer?

Lauren: Jarett as in our trainer.

Whitney: How was it?

Lauren: It was kinda brutal. (Whitney laughs)

Whitney: Oh god. Tell me all about it.

Lauren: On a first date don’t tell me that you like more than any girl you’ve ever met.

Whitney: That’s scary.

Lauren: Right? It’s not just me. I feel like a guy should know not to talk about himself for two hours straight.

Whitney: At least you weren’t there with him by yourself. That would have been a nightmare.

Lauren: Don’t even say that. That’s not even funny.

Whitney: Guys need to realize that they may have to wait a little while and they shouldn’t be so desperate.

Lauren: Do you know that every guy that I’ve gone out with since Jason, I’ve only gone a first date with?

Whitney: Really?

Lauren: No second dates. I have a one date curse that I need to break.

Whitney: I just think it’s just one of those things that you have to go through. Not everyone’s gonna be like your Prince Charming.

CUT TO: Bolthouse Offices

Heidi is at her desk when Brent walks by.

Brent: Hey Heidi. You want to come in? I know you wanted to talk. (Heidi gets up and follows Brent into his office, which Elodie notices. Heidi shuts the door when she enters Brent’s office and they both sit down) How’s it going?

Heidi: Um…well I heard about that job opening up, the Event Director, so I was thinking maybe I could be considered for that position.

Brent: It’s a team decision ‘cause obviously you work really, really close with Rob and Brian, you work underneath them. (Heidi nods to this) And there’s also, you know, Elodie.

Heidi: Well I feel like I have been here a long time and I’ve worked really hard and I’ve definitely up to the task if I’d be able to be considered.

Brent: It means a lot bigger position than what you do so… (Heidi nods again)

Heidi: Yeah.

Brent: Okay interesting idea. Let me think about it.

CUT TO: That Night – Hillside Villas

Audrina and Lauren are in the kitchen making food.

Audrina: Um, Jarett texted me and said that we need to get our butts moving ASAP. We’ve been slacking. (Someone knocks on the door)

Lauren: Come in! It’s open (The person opens the door and it turns out to be Lo)

Lo: Hello!

Audrina: Hi!

Lo: Hi! (Closes the door)

Lauren: Hola!

Lo: It’s party time. (Lauren takes out chips for the salsa they made) So what’s going on? Audrina, I heard you got into a fight with Justin-Bobby.

Audrina: (As she cooks meats, she talks with Lauren and Lo) Yeah. We’ve been sort of like, you know, I’m not gonna go out of my way or anything but we’re still gonna…

Lo: Be friendly?

Audrina: Yeah.

Lo: (To Lauren) You’re being paged.

Lauren: (Picks up her phone) Hello?

Audrina: It’s okay.

Lo: You pick up unknown numbers?

Lauren: Hi.

Person (On the phone): What are you doing?

Lauren: I’m cooking with the girls. I’m with Lo and Audrina.

Lo: Oh, is that your daddy? (Lauren mouths ‘It’s Jason’) No way! I don’t believe you!

Lauren: I thought you were just calling me to be nice.

Lo: Creepy.

Lauren: Oh, I don’t know. (Jason says something) K bye. (She hangs up)

Audrina: (Taking food) So Jason’s doing good?

Lauren: You never know with him. I think we’re like good as friends.

Lo: You can’t just be just friends with somebody like that. (Cuts to Lo sitting at the table then to all three girls sitting at the table. Audrina opens up a little book)

Audrina: Okay Lauren I’m gonna ask you one of these. (Reading from the book) ‘If starting now, you could have $500.00 a day until you next touched your lover, how long do you think you would avoid physical contact?’ But you’re not in a relationship that doesn’t count. Okay, ‘How many times have you fallen in love and allowed yourself to just be swept away?’ (Lauren holds up one finger) Once?

Lauren: Mm-hmm.

Audrina: Was that Jason? (Lauren doesn’t really answer but they all know what the answer is)

CUT TO: The Next Day – Hillside Villas

Lauren and Audrina are lying out by the pool.

Lauren: Derek called me yesterday and he like, he left me a message and I haven’t listened to it yet.

Audrina: He called you?

Lauren: Yes.

Audrina: You should listen to it right now.

Lauren: (Takes out her phone) I kinda don’t wanna know what he’s gonna say.

Audrina: He’s probably like ‘Hi wifey. Wanna get married?’

Lauren: It’s not funny. (Calls her voicemail and listens to Derek’s message) Is it just me? Am I like …?

Audrina: No you just know what you want and you know, you’re not gonna settle for any less. (Lauren starts to laugh) Lauren. (Lauren is cracking up over the message) Put it on speaker. I wanna hear it.

Lauren: No.

Audrina: Please?

Lauren: No. (Hangs up the phone) He’s just like ‘I’m just calling to see if you wanted to get together tonight for a drink’. I think I just have like too high of standards in my head.

Audrina: There’s no perfect guy.

Lauren: Obviously, I don’t want a perfect guy like…I like imperfection but…

Audrina: It’s so random. Last night Justin called me. He wanted to talk and he apologized and blah, blah, blah. ‘Cause I hadn’t answered any of his calls or anything…for a week. So, you know I answered the phone and…I wanted to hear what he had to say so…he apologized and said he was sorry and…he never says sorry and he said sorry and…

Lauren: So how did it end?

Audrina: Basically ended like…I told him like ‘Maybe we’re better off just being friends’.

Lauren: You’re not just friends. I just think that you want to be with him when he’s the good Justin.

Audrina: I know.

Lauren: But he can’t always be the good Justin. And you can’t just like half of who a person is.

CUT TO: Bolthouse Offices

Heidi walks in.

Heidi: Hey Lacey.

Lacey: Hi Heidi.

Heidi: How are you?

Lacey: Good how are you?

Heidi: Good thank you. (Heidi walks into the office space she and Elodie had looked at earlier meaning that Heidi got the job of Event Director. She sits at the desk after putting her bag down)

Elodie: (Walks in) Good morning!

Lacey: Good morning.

Elodie: How are you?

Lacey: Good how are you? (Elodie walks over to Heidi’s office.)

Elodie: (To Heidi) ‘Morning.

Heidi: Hi. What are you doing?

Elodie: Congratulations.

Heidi: Thank you.

Elodie: So are you gonna decorate it?

Heidi: Um, yeah. Definitely gonna put up some picture frames and stuff but…Is that a new purse?

Elodie: No. Well good for you. I mean, I’m glad.

Heidi: I mean, I’m…yeah…sorry it didn’t…

Elodie: That’s okay.

Heidi: Work out…

Elodie: No that’s fine.

Heidi: I didn’t want to step on anyone’s toes, and I said that to Brent and I know that…I didn’t want it to be like that, you know what I mean?

Elodie: (Nods) Mm-hmm. Yeah…no but good for you I mean, as long as you, you know, appreciate it as much as I would have.

Heidi: I do.

Elodie: But no hard feelings.

Heidi: No exactly. It’s not personal.

Elodie: If we have to work together then… (Elodie walks away, showing how she really feels that Heidi got the job instead of her)

CUT TO: The Beach

Audrina, back together with Justin, walks from the beach to where his motorcycle is waiting. They both put on their helmets, he starts it up and they get on.

Justin: (Checks traffic) Ready?

Audrina: I’m ready. (They ride away on his bike)

CUT TO: Lauren’s Car

Lauren is driving her car and puts on her signal to turn. As she waits to go, she takes her sunglasses off then puts them back on. She drives until she reaches her destination, Chapman coffee house. She sits at a table outside, with coffee, waiting for someone. We then see Jason, Lauren’s ex-boyfriend, walking toward where she is, implying she is waiting for him. He comes and joins her.

Jason: How are you?

Lauren: Good. (She hugs him)

Jason: Long time, no see. How you been?

Lauren: Good.

Jason: (The both sit down) Oh my god.

Lauren: (takes something out of her purse) I come bearing gifts. (Shows him a pair of sunglasses)

Jason: No way! (Takes them from her) Give me these. (She puts down her purse) Where’d you find these?

Lauren: My car.

Jason: I leave these in there?

Lauren: Yeah. (Sips her coffee as he puts the sunglasses on the table)

Jason: So what’s up?

Lauren: Nothing.

Jason: You look good.

Lauren: Thank you. You cut your hair. (He touches his hair) I like it. How long do you have off today? Just time to come home and have coffee?

Jason: I had…well I don’t really have anything going today. I already went to my morning group.

Jason: It’s definitely different. It’s kinda weird how it happened.

Lauren: What?

Jason: The whole break up thing, it was just like…we totally stopped talking.

Lauren: I had to. I had to make a clean break from you.

Jason: I know. It was hard. It was weird. I was…out of control. I had some bad habits. It’s good seeing you though, again.

Lauren: I…I told you I’d be your friend again eventually. I just couldn’t do it at first.

Jason: It was just hard to get over.

Lauren: I know. (They just sit there, drinking coffee. It then cuts to an overview of the city)
