Previously on The Hills…

Lauren: (V.O.) This New Years Eve was the best one I ever had. I even got a New Years kiss. I was really having fun with Audrina and Lo. Especially since Heidi was always with Spencer.

Spencer: What if I was gonna get a house with Princess Heidi?

Lauren: (V.O.) And Jen was too busy backstabbing me to be a real friend.

Spencer: Did you see what I got you for your birthday, Bunney?

Jen: What? (Spencer points to Brody)

Lauren: (V.O.) I still couldn’t believe that she’d hooked up with Brody behind my back. Now I was starting to get excited about my twenty first birthday when Lo revealed that Heidi was keeping a secret from me.

Lo: Who’s moving into your apartment when Heidi moves out with Spencer?

Lauren: (V.O.) And Heidi was about to tell me her secret herself. CUT TO: Hillside Villas

Heidi: Oh my god. You’re not gonna guess what happened to me on New Years.

Lauren: You kissed a boy.

Heidi: Um, no. Spencer asked me to move in with him.

Lauren: Yeah, Lo told me. I was surprised you told Lo before me, though. It’s kinda like big news.

Heidi: Well I just found out. I thought it was really nice of him to offer, you know, that he wanted that but…

Lauren: That kinda freaks me out. Like I gotta be…

Heidi: No.

Lauren: Yeah.

Heidi: It’s nice.

Lauren: I think if a guy, after a few months, asked me to move in with him, I would be like ‘Whoa…’

Heidi: I think it was sweet.

Lauren: Do you want to?

Heidi: Um…I told him that I wasn’t going to so…I’m happy that I decided to stay here with you though.

Lauren: Me too. I’m not about to like celebrate my twenty first birthday (Heidi laughs) with a different roommate. A good roommate, that’s like a good pair of jeans, you know what I mean? Like you hang on to those. (Heidi laughs)

Heidi: I know.

Lauren: No matter what. (Heidi laughs)

Heidi: You do. It’s very true. CUT TO: Opening CreditsCUT TO: Hillside Villas – Audrina’s Apartment

Her doorbell rings. She answers it and it is Heidi, there to talk about Lauren’s surprise party.

Audrina: Hello.

Heidi: Hi what are you doing? (Hugs Audrina)

Audrina: How are you?

Heidi: (As Audrina shuts the door) What’s goin’ on?

Audrina: Just relaxing. What are you up to today?

Heidi: Nothing much. (They sit down at a table) Oh my gosh.

Audrina: Is everything set for Lauren’s surprise party?

Heidi: Yeah, everything’s set…ouch. We have um, Hyde, the guest list, the cake.

Audrina: She knows her birthday’s coming up.

Heidi: Right, obviously.

Audrina: And she thinks it’s just you and her going to dinner? (Heidi nods)

Heidi: So maybe, if I bailed out, like right before dinner, it will throw everything off.

Audrina: She’ll be so mad at you.

Heidi: She’ll be like ‘I can’t believe you’re leaving’. I’ll be like ‘I’m sorry, I have to go’. And then like it’ll really throw her off and then you swoop in.

Audrina: And then I’ll bring her and I’ll just keep texting you.

Heidi: Yeah and just be like…

Audrina: Well I’ll tell her…I’ll just be like ‘Yeah, let’s go meet my sister and let’s go meet some of my friends at Hyde and have a couple drinks since you’re twenty-one’.

Heidi: Yeah exactly, exactly.

Audrina: And we’ll walk up and then…gonna get so mad, Heidi.

Heidi: Can you imagine if that really happened? I would be the worst person ever. (She laughs)

Audrina: That would be so mean.

Heidi: I know. But this is gonna be so good. She’s gonna die. (She laughs)

Audrina: Yeah. CUT TO: Teen Vogue Offices

Lauren: (looking through clothes) Lucky brand. Short sleeve sweatshirt. Orange.

Whitney: (On the computer) Hey, isn’t it your birthday this weekend?

Lauren: Mm-hmm, my twenty first.

Whitney: Your big twenty first.

Lauren: Yup…so excited.

Whitney: What are you gonna do?

Lauren: Um, I don’t know. I mean, I’ve already told Heidi I’d go out to dinner with her but I mean we’ll probably go out afterwards and…

Whitney: Yeah?

Lauren: I haven’t really planned it. I always kinda thought I’d have a big twenty first but…

Whitney: Yeah. I didn’t really have a big twenty first. It’s one of those things that just being twenty one is enough. You don’t even need to have any sort of party.

Lauren: I know. But I always thought like I would have this huge party and it just kind of like came really fast, you know what I mean?

Whitney: Yeah.

Lauren: Now I’m kinda like…(She shrugs)

Whitney: You don’t really have to know what you’re gonna do, as long as you have your friends by your side, nothing matters. Oh my god but twenty one is such a big one.

Lauren: I know. I’m so excited. CUT TO: Bolthouse Offices

Heidi is on the phone with Spencer about Lauren’s party.

Heidi: Hi Spencer. (She laughs and Elodie shakes her head) Hey. So um, I got Hyde for Sunday night for Lauren’s surprise party and uh, yeah it’ll be great. It’ll be like sixty people. So bring Brody too. (It shows Jen entering Bolthouse. Cut back to Heidi. She laughs) Okay I love you. Bye. (She hangs up. Jen enters where Heidi is. When she sees Jen, Heidi gets up from her desk.) Hi. Let’s go outside. (Heidi leads Jen into another room) Hi, I can’t really talk to you. I’m kinda at work.

Jen: What?

Heidi: I’m at work. I can’t really talk to you.

Jen: Okay that’s fine.

Heidi: So busy so…What’s up?

Jen: Uh, just wanted to see how you were and everything. I haven’t talked to you in so long. What’s goin’ on?

Heidi: Nothing. Just working a lot and…been so, so busy. Crazy, running around.

Jen: Yeah.

Heidi: How’s school?

Jen: Good. I haven’t like talked to Lauren at all and so I just wanted to see what was going on with that.

Heidi: Yeah.

Jen: I don’t know. Do you think she’s ready to talk at all or no?

Heidi: No. I don’t think she wants to talk for awhile.

Jen: I haven’t talked to my best friend of fifteen years for like, what, three weeks, for, what, sloppy thirds? That’s crazy!

Heidi: That’s why she’s all mad ‘cause it’s like code that you don’t hook up with your friend’s ex’s or like past hook-ups.

Jen: One night…should not have even amounted to two days of this fight. And I think we both agree on how crazy out of proportion this got blown like…

Heidi: Well I told you and I told her. I was like ‘That’s between you guys and I…’

Jen: Yeah.

Heidi:…’want nothing to do with it’. So…

Jen: Okay. That’s fine. I mean it’s just such an awkward situation.

Heidi: I know. It’s so awkward.

Jen: It’s so weird. I’m like…

Heidi: Yeah.

Jen: I thought like…I don’t know.

Heidi: Busy, busy.

Jen: What?

Heidi: I said busy, busy. (She laughs)

Jen: Yeah. Do you have to get back to work now?

Heidi: Yeah. I’m doing like a lot of stuff.

Jen: Okay.

Heidi: So…I mean maybe another place, another time.

Jen: I’m just like I haven’t really been able to like get a hold of anyone so…I’d figure I’d just see what was going on. (Heidi shrugs) Okay well have a good day at work.

Heidi: Okay bye. Well…yeah. (Heidi goes back to her desk as Jen leaves) CUT TO: Hillside Villas

Lauren is sitting on the couch, reading when Heidi comes in. Heidi puts her bag down.

Heidi: Hi. (Sits with Lauren) What are you reading?

Lauren: (Shows Heidi the front of the book) Reading ‘You didn’t hear it from us’.

Heidi: Oh. Guess who showed up at my work, uninvited?

Lauren: Who?

Heidi: Jen Bunney. I go ‘I think it’s really inappropriate that you’re at my work’. I go ‘I don’t know what happened’. I was like ‘ You and Lauren, it’s between you and Lauren. Please don’t talk to me about it’. I go ‘Obviously you know what you did wrong. Give her space and don’t come back to my work please’.

Lauren: Like don’t be so desperate. Do you not have any other friends? Like chill out. I said I’ll talk to you when I wanna talk to you.

Heidi: I was friends with her because you’re friends with her, you know what I mean? (Lauren nods) I told her just to give you your space.

Lauren: That’s all I need. Like honestly like if you do a really bad thing, like you do a really shady thing, be like ‘I was shady’ like just fess up to it. That’s fine. I don’t need people like that in my life.

Heidi: No.

Lauren: You know what I mean? Like I have too many good people in my life to try to let in a bad one.

Heidi: (She nods) We’re still on for your birthday dinner, right? (Lauren nods)

Lauren: Yeah.

Heidi: Okay. Done. CUT TO: Night – Lauren’s Birthday – Hillside Villas

Lauren and Heidi are getting ready to go out.

Heidi: Twenty one. So exciting.

Lauren: What time are our reservations?

Heidi: Like 8:30.

Lauren: Are you wearing a dress?

Heidi: No. I’m gonna wear um, jeans and a top. What are you gonna wear?

Lauren: Why not wear a dress? I have a dress on.

Heidi: You’re the birthday girl. You’re should be wearing dresses all week. (Looking through the closet) I’m so excited. (On the phone) Hey Spence. What’s up? Why? What’s wrong? You okay? What do you mean? Right now? Come on.

Lauren: Heidi, who are you talking to?

Heidi: Spencer, are you sure?  All right fine. Bye. (Hangs up) Um…what…Spencer just called and I’m really sorry but I have to go. I’ll call you when I know what’s going on or what it is.

Lauren: Okay.

Heidi: Okay. I’m really sorry Lauren.

Lauren: Heidi.

Heidi: I love you. (Follows Heidi)

Lauren: You made plans with me to do something on my birthday.

Heidi: I know but I don’t know what’s wrong so…

Lauren: Well then call him and say ’I’m gonna go to dinner with my best friend for her birthday’ Like stop leaving me for Spencer, stop.

Heidi: I’ll call you. (Heidi leaves. Lauren looks really mad. She walks down the stairs)CUT TO: Audrina’s Apartment

Her phone rings and it turns out to be Heidi.

Audrina: Hello. CUT TO: Parking Lot

Heidi is leaving.

Heidi: Oh my god. She totally bought it. CUT TO: Audrina

Audrina: It’s gonna be fun. Should I bring her? I’ll bring her at like 9:15ish. CUT TO: Heidi

Heidi: Perfect. She totally won’t know. Okay bye. (Hangs up) CUT TO: Audrina

Lauren is now calling her.

Audrina: Hello?

Lauren: Hey what are you doing?

Audrina: Hi. (Sits down) Nothing.

Lauren: Well Heidi just left here. She’s like ‘Oh Spencer just called me.’ And da, da, da.  She’s like ‘I can’t…I need to go. Can we do this later?’

Audrina: Um…well come over here and I’ll take you out.

Lauren: K bye. (They hang up. Lauren gets up and leaves) CUT TO: Hyde Nightclub

Everyone, including Whitney, Brody and Lo are there for Lauren’s party.

Heidi: Excuse me? Can I have your attention? Lauren’s gonna be here in like two minutes so if we can all like jump out and say like ‘Surprise!’ ‘cause it’s a surprise party. So…Thank you. (Brody claps as Heidi sits down) You can go back to your things now. CUT TO: Audrina’s Car

They are driving to Hyde.

Audrina: She just told you and left you really quick?

Lauren: Yeah.

Audrina: She didn’t say what happened?

Lauren: No. It was like quick. She was like ‘He won’t talk to me. He says I have to talk to him in person. I’m sorry. I have to go’. And she was just like really short about it. That was like…

Audrina: And she just left.

Lauren: I was like ‘You gotta be kidding me. Like you’re not actually doing this, are you?’ And she was like ‘I’m sorry. I have to go’.

Audrina: It’s like three strikes and you’re out.

Lauren: No she’s like on her ninth strike. CUT TO: Hyde Nightclub

Heidi: You guys, they’re here, they’re here.

Brody: Shh!

Heidi: One…two…

All: Surprise! (Lauren and Audrina have walked in. Lauren looks really surprised. Everyone claps and cheers)

Heidi: Surprise!

Whitney: Happy birthday.

Lauren: (Hugs Whitney) Hey!

Heidi: (Runs up to Lauren) I’ve been here! I’ve been here setting it all up! (Hugs Lauren)

Lauren: Heidi. I was so mad at you! (Lo hugs Lauren)

Lo: Surprise! Happy birthday!

Lauren: Thank you.

Lo: You look pretty!

Lauren: (Sees Brody) Hi! (Hugs Brody) Who let you in here?

Brody: There’s the oh so beautiful birthday girl. How are you?

Lauren: Good how are you?

Brody: Everything good?

Lauren: I had a surprise party tonight.

Brody: Oh yeah? Really? You did?

Lauren: Yeah.

Brody: Wait…is that what this is?

Lauren: Yeah.

Brody: Oh, that’s what this is? Okay.

Lauren: Did you yell surprise?

Brody: Huh?

Lauren: Did you yell surprise?

Brody: I did. I even clapped. (Cuts to Lauren sitting with Heidi & Lo)

Lauren: (Hugs Heidi) I love you.

Heidi: I love you.

Lauren: Thank you so much for doing this. I was really pissed at you today but I’m not anymore.

Heidi: I know!

Audrina: (Talking to people) And then I went on a couple dates…(Lauren signals to Brody)

Lauren: Come here. (He shakes his head) Get over here, Brody. (Cuts to him sitting with Lauren)

Brody: Where’s your best friend?

Lauren: Which one?

Brody: Bunney.

Lauren: I don’t talk to Jen anymore.

Brody: You guys don’t even speak anymore?

Lauren: I haven’t talked to her since that night.

Brody: So you guys just aren’t friends anymore? (She shakes her head) Damn.

Lauren: She’s the reason me and Lo didn’t talk for two years.

Brody: Well, I’m sorry.

Lauren: Why are you sorry?

Brody: Just because of that.

Lauren: No, that wasn’t you at all. It was Jen.

Spencer: Should we do a birthday toast?

Heidi: Birthday toast!

Brody: Pratt, give the speech.

Spencer: Okay speech. (He stands up)

Guy: Spencer. Speech, speech, speech.

Spencer: Okay. I’m not very good at speeches ‘cause Lo says I’m not very smart. But I do know this. Heidi, the love of my life, loves Lauren more than anything in the world so that makes Lauren an amazing person. We don’t see eye to eye but they do so at the end of the day, we all see eye to eye. Happy birthday. You’re amazing. (They all do cheers) Twenty one, That’s a big deal. (Shows everyone having fun at Lauren’s party. Heidi kisses Spencer as Lauren leans on Brody) CUT TO: The Next Day – Cuvee

Lauren and Brody pull up in his car. They get out and sit outside.

Brody: Did you have fun?

Lauren: Yeah it was really fun. How was his birthday toast to me? He was like…

Brody: It was pretty…

Lauren: ‘Me and Lauren don’t see eye to eye but I see eye to eye with Heidi…’

Brody: I thought it was pretty good.

Lauren: I was like ‘Just say happy birthday’. (She laughs) Seriously. I was like ‘Just be like Happy Birthday, Lauren instead’.

Brody: He’s a big toaster. What else? No Jen Bunney talk?

Lauren: No. No Jen Bunney.

Brody: Shh. (He puts is finger to his lips)

Lauren: She was like telling someone. She was like ‘Oh we’ll make up by her birthday so I’ll be there’. I’m like ‘Don’t come to my birthday’. (Brody laughs)

Brody: A lot of people don’t like her. It’s weird. Why is that?

Lauren: She’s kind of like had a lot of problems with girls and like guys…

Brody: Really?

Lauren: Like hooked up with ex’s or um, lied to them about things they’ve said or just…(Brody looks around)

Brody: Change of subject here.

Lauren: No that’s not weird for you.

Brody: No it’s not.

Lauren: Did you know the night I kissed Jason Jen kissed him first? I told Jen, ‘I kinda like Jason’. She’s like ‘I got your back, got your back’. She went into another room to talk to him, apparently made out with him…

Brody: What?

Lauren: And then he went and kissed me.

Brody: Shut up.

Lauren: Yeah. That whole situation could have been completely avoided. She just had to be like an honest person to me and she wasn’t.

Brody: And you’re supposed to be best friends.

Lauren: And we’re supposed to be best friends. CUT TO: Hillside Villas

Lauren is in the kitchen when the doorbell rings. She answers it and it turns out to be Jen.

Jen: Hey, can I come in and talk with you about everything? (She comes in and Lauren shuts the door and)

Lauren: Okay so say to me whatever you wanna say because you obviously feel like you need to say something. (They go sit on the couch)

Jen: Well I’ve just been trying like really hard to like talk to you.

Lauren: I know. Well I’m saying, like you’ve tried really hard so like talk to me now.

Jen: Okay. Well, I just feel like everything got so blown out of proportion than what it needed to be like…

Lauren: I don’t feel that way at all but…

Jen: Okay. That’s the way I feel and not necessarily like the situation…

Lauren: It probably feels that way to you because it didn’t happen to you.

Jen: I just think that what you don’t understand is that I really meant to hurt you.

Lauren: I don’t think you meant to hurt me. I don’t think you thought about me at all when you were doing it because you were only thinking about yourself.

Jen: I wasn’t thinking.

Lauren: You really like didn’t think. There wasn’t even like a thought in your head when you left ‘I might hook up with Brody’.

Jen: I’m gonna be perfectly honest with you. I knew that Brody was trying to hook up with me.

Lauren: But you know what? It shouldn’t even have been a situation. You shouldn’t be in the situation where you’re, you know, hitting on some guy that I could have been interested in. You know, it wasn’t just any guy. I t wasn’t who he was. It was the fact that…

Jen: He was…I know.

Lauren: That was the first guy that I was able to have a crush on after Jason. That was a big deal to me. It had to be that guy.

Jen; I didn’t know Brody even mattered.

Lauren: Brody doesn’t matter. It’s not…I’m not mad about Brody.

Jen: This is about a guy.

Lauren: No. It’s about the fact that you did really shady and you did it behind my back and you were evil and conniving. It wasn’t all Brody, it was you! It wasn’t like I didn’t need my best friend to go and make me feel like an idiot like I’ve had happen to me before. And it just sucks that it wasn’t some girl I hated.  No, it was my best friend who made me feel like such an idiot and made me feel like low.

Jen: It was a mistake. I messed up. One night.

Lauren: I know you did.

Jen: That’s why I’m saying…

Lauren: No, no.

Jen: It was one night.

Lauren: You made a mistake that you went home with him, you made a mistake that you kissed him, you made a mistake that you stared in my eyes and lied to me about it and then you made a mistake that you tried to blame it on every person you could.

Jen: I’m not trying to play the victim. I’m trying to play the fact that…

Lauren: You are. You sit there and you like make your sad puppy dog face. You’re like ‘Oh it’s so hard, it’s so hard’. You put yourself in this situation.

Jen: And I’m tried to apologize to you so much. Sincerely, sorry. I understand what I did was wrong, really, really wrong.

Lauren: You’ve screwed up a lot of friendships because of guys. The first night that I told you I liked Jason and I wanted to kiss him, you went and kissed him.

Jen: No don’t even go there.

Lauren: Yes you did.

Jen: That…

Lauren: It doesn’t matter

Jen: You didn’t tell me that night. That was like a joke, Lauren. Come on you can’t…

Lauren: It’s funny. It’s funny ‘cause I dated him for a year after. I obviously didn’t have any feelings for him.

Jen: I know I made a mistake and I know I lied to you and I’m so sorry.

Lauren: I’ve been burned by so many friends, especially lately. And I really am starting to learn who my true friends are and I have every reason not to trust you. You know it’s true.

Jen: I’m sorry I hurt you.

Lauren: I appreciate that, thank you.

Jen: There’s nothing I can do? There’s nothing I can say?

Lauren: No.

Jen: Just like even…?

Lauren: You’ve done and said enough. (They both get up. Lauren opens the door so she can leave)

Jen: So I’ll let you call me when you’re ready. (She leaves and Lauren shuts the door. It shows Jen walk down the hall.)
