Previously on The Hills…

Lauren: (V.O.) Heidi let me down one too many times.

Lauren: Audrina. I just got home but Heidi’s not here, so do you wanna do to dinner still?

Lauren: (V.O.) But Audrina and I were getting really close. And I was finally adjusting to things without my best friend.

Lauren: I feel like we’re getting the hang of this.

Lauren: (V.O.) Now, with New Years’ coming, I had to think about my own life.

Blake: Cheers.

Chris: Cheers.

Lauren: (V.O.) I just couldn’t around for Heidi anymore.

Heidi: Love you, bye. CUT TO: Store

Audrina and Lauren are shopping for something to wear for New Years’.

Lauren: Oh my gosh, this is 75% off. (She is referring to the dress she has tried on)

Audrina: That’s cute. (Lauren is lifting the end of the dress up) So who’s all coming for New Years? Are your friends from Laguna?

Lauren: I’m inviting my friends Jill, Natania and Lo.

Audrina: So you’ve known Lo since high school?

Lauren: I’ve known Lo since like third grade. You’ll really like Lo. She’s hilarious.

Audrina: Is she anything like Jen?

Lauren: No, I told you, like one of the reasons we like got in a big fight and like didn’t talk over the past couple years was ‘cause of Jen.

Audrina: So we’ll just get ready at your house?

Lauren: Yeah we’ll all meet at our house. I have a feeling Heidi will end up spending most of the night with Spencer, which is understandable. It’s New Years.

Audrina: Yeah it’s her boyfriend.

Lauren: I mean that’s why I went and invited other people ‘cause I didn’t want to depend on her to be like...

Audrina: Mm-hmm. To be like the third wheel or something. Are they coming in the limo?

Lauren: Spencer’s not allowed in the car.

Audrina: No.

Lauren: No.

Audrina: I know.

Lauren: Our car.

Audrina: I know. I know. (She laughs) I’m so happy. This New Years is gonna be fun.

Lauren: I know. I just hope it’s better than last year. CUT TO: Opening CreditsCUT TO: Baseball Field

Lauren and Audrina are watching as Whitney plays. Whitney goes up to bat.

Lauren: Out of the park Whitney. Out of the park.

Audrina: Woo! Go, Whitney, go! (Whitney swings and runs. Lauren & Audrina cheer)

Lauren: Run! Yay Whitney.

Audrina: Woo! Go Whitney!

Lauren: Go team.

Audrina: Woo! (Cuts to when the game is over. Whitney comes over by Audrina and Lauren)

Lauren: Yay!

Whitney: Hi girls.

Audrina: Woo hoo!

Lauren: You did fabulous.

Whitney: Thanks for coming.

Lauren: Of course.

Audrina: So do you guys always like switch around, positions?

Whitney: Usually I like play center or in the outfield. So what do you guys think you’re gonna do for New Years?

Lauren: I guess…you know what? When I asked Heidi about New Years, she was like ‘Oh what are you gonna do for New Years?’ And I was kinda like…

Audrina: What are we gonna do?

Lauren: When she’s gonna wanna be with Spencer on New Years but…

Whitney: I kissed like three guys on New Years last year. It was like the sluttiest moment of my life.

Lauren: I’m just gonna grab someone next to me.

Whitney: Yeah.

Lauren: I did that two years ago.

Whitney: (Laughs) I remember you telling me about that.

Audrina: We’re gonna have a good New Years this year. CUT TO: Milk

Heidi and Spencer are shopping for Heidi’s New Years dress.

Spencer: It’ll be fun shopping for a New Years eve dress, isn’t it?

Heidi: Really? Have you ever shopped for a New Years eve dress?

Spencer: I do have two sisters sweetheart. So yes, actually. So what’s the plan for New Years? Do we get our own night or what?

Heidi: We’ll go to dinner together.

Spencer: Without the posse?

Heidi: Yes, without the posse. And then we’ll all go to Area together afterwards.

Spencer: Who’s we all?

Heidi: We’ll meet up with them. With Lauren and her friends from Laguna.

Spencer: I’m done hanging out with Lauren.

Heidi: I’m really excited to go spend New Years with Lauren though. Like 2006 was a hard year on our friendship and I think that this year is gonna be a lot better. And I wanna make more of an effort and I wanna spend New Years with her too and I want to spend it with my two favorite people. She means a lot to me too and it’s just unfair to me.

Spencer: (Hugs her) I know I know. Give me a hug. (Touches her hair) I don’t wanna anything to be unfair to Heidi. I’m a very fair person. So I have some big news I wanna talk to you about.

Heidi: What’s the news?

Spencer: The news is…

Heidi: What?

Spencer: What if I was moving out of the condo and I was gonna get a house (Touches her hair again) with Princess Heidi? No? Maybe?

Heidi: (He puts his arms around her) I mean, obviously I would love to move in with you.

Spencer: But…

Heidi: I mean I made a commitment to live with her, you know, try to work things out. I feel like that would just make things worse, in a way.

Spencer: That gets really annoying. And it’s really…I don’t wanna say affecting our relationship but it definitely doesn’t help it. Well at least put that in your head. (Puts his arms around her again) ‘Cause I think it’s a good solution ‘cause uh...

Heidi:  It’s not like we don’t have to worry about it anymore. It’s like she’ll always be my best friend.

Spencer: Like you guys are still best friends. She spends all her time with Audrina. Think about it, dear. Just think about it. CUT TO: Warren Tricomi Salon

Lauren, Heidi and Audrina are getting their hair done for New Years.

Heidi: We’re gonna be at Area for the countdown, right?

Lauren: We’re planning…I don’t know like what your deal is but we’re planning on going there and uh, Area’s countdown. We’re gonna have to leave earlier ‘cause we have to pick up a guy that I met last night that I’m bringing with us.

Heidi: You met a guy last night?

Lauren: Yeah if you’d come out, you would know that. But he’s visiting from Colorado so he’s only out here for like another five days I think. I asked him out, I called him and I’m picking him up. When you see him, you’ll be like ‘That’s not Lauren’s type’.

Heidi: Maybe that’s a good thing.

Lauren: Um, it’s a very good thing. Have you met my type? Audrina! (She tries to each Audrina but can’t because she is across the room and she laughs. Heidi does not look happy) Audrina you look pretty.

Audrina: Thank you.

Heidi: What’s your New Years resolution?

Lauren: Audrina and I are gonna take kickboxing.

Audrina: Yeah.

Lauren: Huh Audrina?

Audrina: It’s like such a good workout. I wanna try it. Hey Lauren. Should we just grab something to eat?

Lauren: We could order like a pizza. Pizza and champagne.

Girl: Are you guys gonna do it up or down?

Girl # 2: We like it down.

Lauren: We look like twins, Audrina. (Heidi gets up)

Heidi: All right, I gotta go to dinner. And um, but we’ll all meet up later tonight at Area?

Lauren: Mm-hmm.

Heidi: Okay. (Heidi leaves)  CUT TO: Dolce

Heidi and Spencer get out of the car and go inside for dinner. CUT TO: Inside Dolce

Spencer: I don’t even want to go to the club. I just wanna take you home right now.

Heidi: I wish we could just go home.

Spencer: Why can’t we? Oh that’s right ‘cause you have another boyfriend named Lauren Conrad that we have to meet at the club. Have you given any thought to my offer?

Heidi: Obviously in the next couple years, I wanna move in with you. It’s like I love you. I wanna be with you. I just feel like…

Spencer: It’s not like I’m sitting here, demanding anything from you.

Heidi: I feel like if I move out, it’s gonna compromise our friendship.

Spencer: It shouldn’t be this like juggling act. It’s like there’s a big difference between friends and people you’re romantically and intimately involved with.

Heidi: I’m trying really hard. And I’m trying hard to keep you happy and I’m trying hard to keep her happy. And I know it shouldn’t be a balance like that because it’s like you are who I’m in love with.

Spencer: I don’t understand. Why can’t Lauren live with somebody else? Like Audrina? (Heidi does not look happy at that suggestion) CUT TO: Hillside Villas

Lauren’s friend, Lo, is taking a picture of Lauren and Audrina.

Lo: Okay smile. (To Natania) Can you stand?

Lauren: (Takes picture of Lo, Jill and Natania) Ready? Okay smile one, two, three.

Lo: Cheers.

Lauren: Cheers to New Years. Spending New Years with people most important to us. (They do cheers with their cups)

All: Happy New Year.

Lo: Cheers. Guys, I’m excited for tonight. I need a New Years kiss.

Audrina: I’ve never had a New Years kiss.

Lauren: I think everyone should have…

Audrina: I’ve never, ever had one.

Lauren: I’ve had a New Years kiss for like the last four years. But I’ve only had like one good one.

Lo: Lauren, where is Heidi? Why isn’t she here?

Lauren: Heidi’s at dinner with Spencer.

Lo: Is that like her man?

Spencer: That’s her boyfriend.

Audrina: That’s her boyfriend.

Lo: I love Heidi. She’s so sweet.

Lauren: I love Heidi too.

Lo: I heard Spencer was an ass.

Audrina: Yeah you guys will have to…you guys will have to get your own…

Lauren: I’m not saying anything.

Audrina: We’re not saying anything. You tell us what you think later like after you meet him.

Lo: Hey, are we ready to go?

Lauren: Let’s go. (They leave for Area.) CUT TO: Area Nightclub

Lauren and her friends get out of the car.

Lo: Are we waiting for Heidi?

Lauren: No.  Let’s go.

Audrina: (To people at the door) Hello.

Lauren: (To people at the door) Hi.

Audrina: (To people at the door) Good how are you?CUT TO: Heidi & Spencer’s Car

They are heading to Area.

Spencer: Let’s not go to the club. I could care less about any person in Area.

Heidi: (As the car stops) Spencer, please don’t make this hard. CUT TO: Inside Area

Lauren is talking with her date, Derek.

Derek: I actually have a speedboat.

Lauren: Really?

Derek: So during the summer, every day we have off, me and my roommates, we’d go out and it’s just a blast. So…it’s really hard because…especially for me, I’m like a pretty big guy and it’s hard to get me up…

Lauren: Shut up. You’re tall? Are you?

Derek: I thought so. (Lauren laughs. Shows Jill taking a picture of Lo with balloons)

Lauren: Oh my god. These are intense. (As Lo gets them go) Woo!CUT TO: Outside Area

Heidi is hugging someone.

Heidi: Happy New Year.

Guy: You too.

Spencer: Happy New Year boss. (Hugs the guy) Good to see you.

Guy: Good to see you too man.

Heidi: (Hugs someone else) Hi. You know my boyfriend?

Girl: Spencer.

Heidi: Spencer... You guys know each other. (Heidi and Spencer go inside. Cut to inside Area)

Lauren…My New Years kiss.

Lo: I know.

Lauren: That was embarrassing.

Heidi: (Her and Spencer spot everyone) Hi!

Lauren: That’s Spencer.

Lo: Yeah.

Heidi: Spencer…(Spencer shakes someone’s hand)

Lauren: Cocker spaniel! I really want a cocker spaniel. (Lauren laughs)

Heidi: (Talking with Lo) My boyfriend’s cute, right?

Lo: He’s totally cute.

Heidi: Spencer asked me to move in with him.

Lo: That’s a pretty big step.

Heidi: What?

Lo: I said, that’s a pretty big step.

Heidi: I know.

Lo: That’s really serious.

Audrina: Are you ready? It’s almost twelve o’clock.

Lauren: Happy New Year!

Spencer: Would you like a sparkler, Lauren?

Lauren: Thank you. Happy New Year’s.

Heidi: What time is it?

Guy: Three minutes.

Heidi: Woo!

Spencer: How many?

Heidi: Three.

Lauren: Who’s doing the countdown? (Everyone lights their sparklers)

Heidi: Do mine, do mine. (She lights her using Spencer’s)

All: Three, two, one! Woo! (Lauren kisses Derek and Audrina takes a picture of it. Audrina kisses Lauren)

Lauren: (Laughing) Happy New Year! (Hugs Audrina. Everyone cheers to the New Year)

Spencer: You look amazing. (Cut to outside. Everyone is starting to leave Area)

Heidi: Ballin!

Lauren: Hey it’s 2007…

Heidi: Happy New Year!

Spencer: Go handle your business there.

Heidi: Go handle what you gotta handle.

Spencer: Go handle it. (Lauren and her friends leave Heidi & Spencer) Don’t play games. You like how they just leave you and don’t even say goodbye. Great friends, right? Your best friends? Was there a ‘Goodbye Heidi’? I didn’t see a ‘Goodbye Heidi’.

Heidi: Maybe.

Spencer: Oh! Reality check for you. Who am I? I’m Lauren. Walk right by Heidi without saying goodbye.

Heidi: Stop. Stop.

Spencer: I’m just saying it’s the realty. It’s a reality check.

Heidi: Please look at me and stop. Please just stop.

Spencer: I love you.

Heidi: I love you. Stop.

Spencer: I don’t stop. CUT TO: The Next Day – Bolthouse Offices

Heidi and Elodie are looking through envelopes and talking about New Years.

Elodie: There’s a bunch of invites that we had for another party and we need to use the envelopes again.

Heidi: Um, how was your New Years?

Elodie: Oh it was okay. I worked. What did you do?

Heidi: Um, I was kinda disappointed because I like made an effort to like…I wanted to be with Lauren all night because obviously Spencer didn’t want to spend New Years with me and my friends. And then Lauren was mostly with Audrina all night. Like I hardly saw her. Like ‘I came here to be with you’.

Elodie: Right.

Heidi: ‘Not just for you to be with Audrina’.

Elodie: Well they probably didn’t even want Spencer there.

Heidi: And…Spencer asked me to move in with him.

Elodie: No way. (Heidi nods and laughs)

Heidi: He was just like, you know ‘Every day I love you more (Elodie rolls her eyes) and I just never thought I’d feel this way about somebody and I didn’t know what love was…’

Elodie: Really?

Heidi: And I’ve never been in love like this. Like this is a different level. I didn’t know what to say ‘cause like obviously I really want to live with him but it’s like…

Elodie: Are you ready for that? Though you are really so young still.

Heidi: Exactly. It’s like ‘Am I ready?’

Elodie: It’s scary. Have you mentioned that to Lauren?

Heidi: Um, not yet.

Elodie: What are you thinking right now? CUT TO: Kelly’s Coffeehouse

Lauren and Whitney sit at a table outside with coffee, discussing New Years.

Whitney: It’s nice out today.

Lauren: I know.

Whitney: How was your New Years?

Lauren: I had a date.

Whitney: You had a date?

Lauren: I was like determined. I was like ‘I need to have a New Years kiss’.

Whitney: That’s important.

Lauren: And he was just here on vacation which is part of his appeal ‘cause like he’ll go away.

Whitney: He’s gone now so nothing.

Lauren: No I think he’s still here but…

Whitney: But it could’ve been like nice little winter fling.

Lauren: It was. I kissed him on New Years. That was my fling. (Whitney laughs) The crowd there was kinda random.

Whitney: It was?

Lauren: Mm-hmm.

Whitney: Who came up?

Lauren: My friend Lo came up who was like my best friend in high school.

Whitney: That’s so fun.

Lauren: It was really fun.

Whitney: It’s good to be with old friends on nights like that.

Lauren: Yeah. This year, I just wanted to be with like people, you know what I mean? Just like a good group of friends.

Whitney: Yeah. And you got to be with Heidi on New Years.

Lauren: We met Heidi and Spencer at Area. I really only got to see her for like two minutes on New Years.

Whitney: Shut up.

Lauren: Better than nothin’.

Whitney: They’ve been together for a long time now, huh?

Lauren: Mm-hmm.

Whitney: Like how many months?

Lauren: I don’t know. I expected him to screw it up by now.

Whitney: (Laughs) I didn’t think it was gonna last this long either.

Lauren: Nobody did. I was so happy to spend New Years with like four or five of my closest friends and those are all people that really have been there for me.

Whitney: Yeah.

Lauren: You know what I mean? I’m just sad you weren’t there, though.

Whitney: I know. I mean, yeah…we’re all trying to find out like who our true friends are and stuff and it sucks but…CUT TO: That Night – I Cugini

Heidi and Spencer are going in for dinner.

Heidi: (To hostess) Hi, how are you?

Hostess: How are you?

Heidi: Good thanks.

Spencer: It’s under Spencer, for two. (Cut to them at the table. The waiter brings them their drinks)

Waiter: Here’s your Virgin…

Heidi: Thank you so much. (The waiter puts her drink in front of her)

Spencer: Thank you sir.

Waiter: No problem.

Heidi: This is mine and that’s yours. Cheers, I love you. (They do cheers)

Spencer: Cheers, I love you more. I do. I really do.

Heidi: No, you really…

Spencer: Heidi, I deal with all your crazy friends, all your drama. I deal with all that for you. Heidi’s the one with all the baggage.

Heidi: You know what? I don’t have baggage.

Spencer: You have…

Heidi I have a lot of people in my life, a lot of things that I’m doing.

Spencer: I call them baggage.

Heidi: You call them baggage but that’s a lot of things that I have to deal with. It’s a lot of people in my life. It’s…really (Spencer pretends to shed a tear) go cry to yourself because.... (Spencer pretends to play a sad song on a violin)

Spencer: I’ve been thinking a lot and it’s really rude that you’ve chosen Lauren over me.

Heidi:  I think it’s really rude that you’d make me choose.

Spencer: Oh…is that what you think?

Heidi: Yeah.

Spencer: Yeah? You are choosing to live with somebody that abandons out if front of clubs? I don’t think so.

Heidi: Well I don’t really know why she did that. But there has to come a time when she has to let go a little bit. I was never like ‘I dislike Jason’ or anything. It’s like she was gonna move…she moved in with him in the summer and I never was like ‘We’re gonna stop being friends’. That never happened. So I’d expect the same courtesy.

Spencer: Whoa, this is a new statement.

Heidi: Yeah. So who are you gonna get a house from?

Spencer: You don’t worry about that. All you worry about is how you’re gonna break it to Lauren. CUT TO: Café Sushi

Lauren is having dinner with Lo.

Lo: I’m wearing flats.

Lauren: Well my legs are sore.

Lo: I know. (They go inside. Cut to inside Café Sushi)

Lauren: (To people at the door) Thank you so much.

Lo: (To people at the door) Oh thank you. Ginger, I love ginger.

Lauren: Get ready. You’re gonna love this.

Lo: I believe you. (She eats some sushi. Lo starts coughing and she laughs) Sorry…

Lauren: You okay?

Lo: I just had ginger juice go up my nose. (They both laugh)

Lauren: Lo, just go like this.

Lo: No, it’s like up here. (Points to the back of her head) in the back of my head.

Lauren: Oh, does it burn your brain?

Lo: Yeah it really does. (Lauren laughs) it’s burning my brain. I didn’t realize that ginger was that potent.

Lauren: You okay now?

Lo: Yeah.

Lauren: Yay. So did you have a good New Years overall?

Lo: Yeah it’s so fun being back in LA and like with everybody.

Lauren; I’m so glad you’re back.  You know, someone told me that Jen was gonna go to Area on New Years.

Lo: I did hear that she was…

Lauren: Gonna go.

Lo:  Going to go. She had like bought a ticket and everything.

Lauren: She’s probably like ‘Ah! I have no more friendships to destroy’. Who does she hang out with?

Lo: I’m guessing that she is spending time with her friends at USC. I don’t know. It’s disappointing to me that, like that friendship had to end in the way it did.

Lauren: Honestly like at this point I would so much rather have like a few good friends than a lot of fake friends.

Lo: I know and especially being in LA, it’s really hard to find people here that are sincere, you know what I mean?

Lauren: I’m so glad you’re here to have someone who’s real.

Lo: Um, who’s moving into your apartment when Heidi moves out with Spencer?

Lauren: Did she tell you that?

Lo: Heidi came up to me on New Years and was like ‘Spencer asked me to move in with him and I’m like thinking about it’. She didn’t tell you that?

Lauren: No. It’s just really weird that she wouldn’t say something to me. I don’t think she would move in with Spencer. It’s way too soon. Like I know she’s crazy in love but she’s not that crazy.

Lo: That’s so weird.

Lauren: Are you done?

Lo: Awkward! (They get up and leave. It shows them walking down the streets of LA, then it shows LA from above)
