Previously on The Hills…

Spencer: Do you see what I got you for your birthday, Bunney?

Jen: What? (Spencer points at Brody)

Lauren: (V.O.) My friendship with Heidi was at a breaking point after she and Spencer hooked Jen up with Brody.

Lauren: He’s a sucky person!

Heidi: Lauren.

Lauren: I’m never gonna like Spencer. He did a really messed up thing last night.

Lauren: (V.O.) I was willing to give it one last chance. But this time, it was really up to Heidi.

Heidi: I love you. I’m sorry if I’ve been hurting you.

Lauren: No you don’t have to stop being best friends but something has to change.

Lauren: (V.O.) And now I was about to be reminded that actions speak louder than words. CUT TO: Outside

Spencer and Heidi are at a table.

Spencer: What if we go to Santa Barbara for the weekend? Get away, just you and me.

Heidi: I really need to start spending more time with Lauren, though.

Spencer: You need for time for what?

Heidi: Like to spend together, I don’t see her that much.

Spencer: You have a roommate that looks at me like the plague.

Heidi: I mean, I honestly I really think she’s gonna come around.

Spencer: Uh…yeah.

Heidi: When there’s a little more time, she’s just gonna be like ‘Look, I accept this’.

Spencer: Whatever. All these people need to stop worrying about us dating. (Heidi gets up and sits in his lap and they kiss) Oh…how cute are you today? Come on, let’s just go to Santa Barbara. (They kiss)

Heidi: Let’s go.

Spencer: You wanna go?

Heidi: Yes. CUT TO: Opening CreditsCUT TO: Teen Vogue Offices

Lauren and Whitney go in Lisa’s office.

Whitney: Hello.

Lisa: Hi.

Whitney: How are you?

Lisa: Good, great. I’m always wondering why you guys are in spring and I’m in fall. (Lauren laughs as they sit down) Next week, you’re going to be working with Lawren Howell. She does mostly Vogue but she covers for Teen Vogue and Men’s Vogue as well. She’s very particular. She’s very precise. She’s somebody that you will learn a lot from if you pay attention.

Whitney: Okay.

Lisa: Okay? You’re gonna do this young Los Angeles real children shoot. I think Carlos has got um, about three or four lined up. But if you have anyone young, fifteen, sixteen.

Whitney: I have a younger sister who’s a senior in high school. I mean, she looks like she would fit kinda the prototype of the Teen Vogue girl.

Lisa: Maybe she can come in and meet us and uh, we can take a Polaroid of her. We’ll do the proper casting. Will she do that?

Whitney: Yeah.

Lisa: Okay.

Whitney: She would love to, I’m sure.

Lisa: We’ll see how that works out.

Whitney: Great. Okay.

Lisa: Okay. See you then.

Whitney: Bye.

Lisa: Bye. (They get up and leave. Cut to the room Lauren and Whitney are in)

Lauren: (They sit in their chairs) That’s so cool if Jade gets it.

Whitney: I know. I hope she does. Have you ever worked with Lawren before?

Lauren: I don’t think so. I know I’ve met her before.

Whitney: I hope that she’s not like as strict as everyone’s making her out to be, you know?

Lauren: Well she worked for Vogue.

Whitney: And Anna Wintor, you know. It’s one thing to work for Vogue, it’s another thing to work for Anna Wintor so…Hmm…another photo shoot. I wonder how many I’ve worked on.

Lauren: How long did you work for W?

Whitney: I worked for them I think three summers.

Lauren: Oh wow.

Whitney: Yeah.

Lauren: And then you did this for two years?

Whitney: Yeah.

Lauren: You’re probably so over it.

Whitney: I’m just ready to have like more responsibility than just like steaming…(Lawren Howell comes in)

Lawren: Hi girls.

Lauren: Hey.

Lawren: How are you?

Whitney: Hi.

Lawren: I just wanted to go over a few quick things. We’ve got a kind of big shoot. There’s six kids. Which just means a lot of clothes, a lot of people, and I need you guys to be really, really organized. I don’t want everyone to be on top of each other. Everything has to be returned the next day. Nothing can come back dirty, nothing can come back with holes in it, with tags missing, all that we’ll just have to be really organized, getting one kid dressed while we’re shooting another one. Have everything steamed. I mean, that’s kind of the thing for me. If I grab a dress that hasn’t been steamed and you know, you guys have been standing there, that’s kind of, you know, a problem so…The call time will be 9 so we’ll all need to get there at 8.

Lauren & Whitney: Okay.

Lawren: Thanks. (She leaves)

Whitney: See you then. Bye.

Lauren: I’ll steam.

Whitney: You’ll steam?

Lauren: I’ll steam.

Whitney: Thank you.

Lauren: I don’t mind.

Whitney: I’ve done enough steaming in my interning career.

Lauren: I’m sure you have. I didn’t realize you’d done five years. It’s crazy.

Whitney: I’m just ready to be something other than like someone’s intern, you know?

Lauren: Yeah. CUT TO: Hillside Villas

Lauren is doing some homework for school when Heidi comes in.

Heidi: Hi.

Lauren: Hi.

Heidi: You doing some homework?

Lauren: Mm-hmm.

Heidi: Look at you. (It cuts to Heidi in her room. She is packing some stuff for her trip to Santa Barbara with Spencer. Lauren comes into her room)

Lauren: Heidi.

Heidi: Hello. (Lauren sits on Heidi’s bed)

Lauren: What are you doing?

Heidi: Um, I think I’m going to Santa Barbara for a couple days. Or for like until Sunday.

Lauren: Oh.

Heidi: Um…

Lauren: You’re packing now?

Heidi: (Laughs) Stuffing it in. I think just um, tonight and tomorrow night. Um, do you wanna come to Santa Barbara?

Lauren: Who’s going to Santa Barbara?

Heidi: Spencer.

Lauren: Do you think I wanna go to Santa Barbara?

Heidi: No but I’m just putting out the invitation.

Lauren: Well thank you. I appreciate that.

Heidi: So…Monday evening, we should have a whole Heidi and Lauren alone night.

Lauren: Uh, yeah.

Heidi: Like we can go get our nails done, get massages.

Lauren: (Nods) Hmm…(Heidi laughs) Good times.

Heidi: Um, I think I’m gonna get outta here.

Lauren: I’m gonna get outta your room.

Heidi: Time to go.

Lauren: Yeah. (They both leave Heidi’s room.)

Heidi: Call me if you need anything ever, any time of the night.

Lauren: Okay.

Heidi: Okay love you, bye. (Heidi leaves) CUT TO: The Next Day – The Grove

Lauren and Audrina are walking around.

Audrina: Where’s Heidi?

Lauren: She’s in Santa Barbara all weekend with Spencer.

Audrina: I have to tell you. Chris is this guy who works with at Epic Records.

Lauren: Mm-hmm.

Audrina: He asked me out Friday night after work. So we went and we played pool and had drinks.

Lauren: Mm-hmm.

Audrina: And he has three roommates and one of them’s single. So if you want to come with me and meet him.

Lauren: It’s sad. I’ve become like that friend. ‘Well maybe they’ll have a friend for you’.

Audrina: He’s so nice like he’s not like any other guy that I’ve dated. Like he’s into music.

Lauren: This is a good thing.

Audrina: He’s a guy, guy you know what I mean? I was thinking we should all go out one weekend. You wanna do it?

Lauren: Just as long as it’s a group thing not like a double date, sit down, awkward.

Audrina: No it’ll be a group thing.

Lauren: That sounds so cool. I’m excited.

Audrina: What about Brody though?

Lauren: Eh…

Audrina: Yes! CUT TO: Santa Barbara

Heidi and Spencer are walking along the beach.

Heidi: Oh my god! That’s a dolphin or shark. Oh my god. What is that?

Spencer: They’re called dolphins, Heidi. I just don’t wanna go back to LA.

Heidi: I know. It’s so relaxing.

Spencer: I promise you Lauren would not be going back to hang out with Heidi if she was dating Jason and her and Jason were in Santa Barbara. She would call Heidi and be like ‘Yo Heidi. Um, I’m gonna stay with my boyfriend’. And you’d be like ‘Okay. See you Monday’.

Heidi: You are so right. I love Santa Barbara. CUT TO: LA – Teen Vogue Offices

Lauren comes in as Whitney is looking through clothes.

Lauren: Hey.

Whitney: Hey. How are you?

Lauren: I’m good.

Whitney: T.G.I.F! (She laughs)

Lauren: (Now looking through clothes) Oh my god it’s Friday.

Whitney: I know. Are you going out?

Lauren: Oh my god. I have um, me and Audrina have a double date tonight.

Whitney: Oh my god.

Lauren: Did she tell you about that guy, Chris, she works with?

Whitney: No.

Lauren: It’s him and then his friend. His name is Blake and he’s a hockey player. And that’s all I know.

Whitney: Ooh!

Lauren: I saw a picture of him and he’s cute.

Whitney: I believe that Jade is in there right now meeting with Lisa.

Lauren: That’s so exciting.

Whitney: Yeah. (Cuts to Jade leaving Lisa’s office)

Jade: Thank you.

Lisa: Bye.

Jade: Thank you. (Jade leaves Lisa’s office and goes into where Lauren and Whitney are) Hello.

Whitney: Hi.

Jade: Guess what?

Whitney: What?

Jade: I got it.

Whitney: Oh my god! (Lauren waves at her)

Lauren: Hi.

Jade: Hi.

Lauren: Congratulations.

Jade: Thank you.

Lauren: Are you excited?

Jade: Yeah I’m nervous but I’m excited.

Whitney: Don’t be nervous. (To Lauren) Okay so should we go in there? (Lauren nods and it cuts to another room, where Lawren Howell is) Hi.

Lawren: Hi girls.

Jade: Hi.

Whitney: This is my little sister, Jade.

Lawren: Hi Jade. Nice to meet you. (Shakes her hand)

Whitney: This is Lawren.

Jade: Nice to meet you. Thank you.

Lawren: If you guys could just sort of keep track once we try things on. Remember which rack it goes back to. (To other people) Let me just have Jade try this on. (To Jade) And we’ll find some jeans for you. (Jade follows Lawren)

Whitney: This is so cool.

Lawren: (To Lauren & Whitney) So guys, the other things is, they’re changing back there so if we could just make sure all the clothes, it’s there and starting to get a bit messy…

Whitney: Okay.

Lawren: So just…we keep orders so we can remember. CUT TO: That Night – Lauren’s Car

Lauren and Audrina are driving to the restaurant for their double date. Lauren is putting on last minute makeup.

Audrina: It’ll be fun tonight.  Like I’m so excited…I wanna see if you like Blake or not.

Lauren: He’s a hockey player. That’s kinda hot, right? That he’s a hockey player? That’s like the best part of the hockey game is like the fight, they’re tough guys.

Audrina: Yeah he’s tough.

Lauren: I know he’s not a wussy if he plays hockey. Well I trust you ‘cause you’re the one setting me up on this one. So if it goes bad, it’s kinda your fault.

Audrina: It’s all my fault. It’ll be fun. I can’t wait. You’ll end up making out with Blake by the end of the night. (Lauren laughs)

Lauren: I just wanna meet my prince charming. CUT TO: Restaurant

Lauren and Audrina walk in. They walk to a table where Blake and Chris are sitting.

Audrina: Hi.

Chris: What’s up? How are you? (He gets up and hugs Audrina)

Audrina: Good.

Chris: What’s goin’ on?

Audrina: Lauren this is Chris.

Lauren: Hi I’m Lauren. (Shakes Chris’ hand) Nice to meet you.

Chris: Nice to meet you. (Blake, Lauren’s date, stands up)

Audrina: And this is Blake.

Blake: Lauren, hi.

Lauren: (Shakes his hand) Hi.

Blake: I’m Blake. Nice to meet you.

Lauren: Nice to meet you.

Audrina: (Hugs Blake) Good to see you.

Blake: How are you?

Audrina: Good.

Blake: Good to see you. (They all sit down at the table)

Lauren: How are you guys?

Blake: Good.

Chris: Good.

Blake: So nice, I’ve never been here before.

Audrina: You haven’t?

Chris: Yeah none of us has. (To Lauren) You have?

Lauren: Yeah.

Chris: Really?

Audrina: Yeah.

Blake: This place is awesome.

Chris: Yeah I like it. The chandelier set up yeah. (Blake laughs) So me and this guy, we’ve known each other since like sixth grade.

Audrina: Really?

Blake: Yeah.

Audrina: You guys went to middle school together?

Chris: Middle school, yeah.

Lauren: Where are you from?

Blake: Agora Hills like a half hour up north. Where are you guys from?

Lauren: I grew up in Orange County.

Blake: Where in Orange County?

Lauren: Uh, Laguna Beach.

Blake: My parents rented a uh, place down in Laguna Beach this last summer.

Lauren: Really?

Blake: Yeah.

Lauren: It’s nice, huh?

Blake: LA is the place to be.

Chris Do you guys want to get an appetizer or should we just get our own stuff?

Blake: Maybe we should just get desert. (Lauren laughs)

Chris: Some french fries can be desert.

Audrina: Lauren’s down for desert.

Lauren: I’m down. (They all laugh)

Chris: Cheers by the way.

Audrina: Cheers.

Blake: Cheers.

Chris: Cheers. (They raise their glasses and clink them together) Nice to meet you.

Lauren: You too.

Chris: So Audrina, the other night I was at Area and I ran into that guy Spencer.

Lauren: No!

Blake: Who’s Spencer?

Chris: He’s the guy that…

Lauren: My roommate’s boyfriend.

Blake: Oh really? Sounds like he’s a great guy. (Lauren laughs)

Chris: So they are uh, dating seriously again? (Lauren nods)

Audrina: Yeah.

Blake: You guys really don’t like him? (Lauren shakes her head) Perfect!

Lauren: Anyways…

Blake: I wonder if they have one of those desert trays like where they come and show you everything, you know?

Lauren: You can ask.

Blake: I’m gonna ask, soon as the guy comes back. I’m kinda over my meal. I just want desert.

Lauren: I kinda do too. (Cut to the end of the date. They are now outside)

Audrina: (Hugs Chris) Bye I’ll call you.

Blake: Girls, it was so nice meeting you.

Lauren: (Hugs Blake) Thank you so much.

Chris: (To Audrina) We’ll figure it out.

Blake: Guys, we should go to Café Sushi.

Lauren: We’ll do it.

Audrina: We will. Bye.

Chris: Lauren definitely.

Lauren: (Hugs Chris) Bye have a good night.

Chris: Have a good night. (Cuts to Lauren’s car. Lauren and Audrina get in. Cut to Chris & Blake leaving)

Blake: I didn’t ask for her number. (Cut to Lauren & Audrina)

Lauren: I thought that was a successful date. He was cute.

Audrina: It seemed like he was gonna ask you for your number but he kinda like…

Lauren: He asked if we wanted to go out again. That’s good.

Audrina: Yeah he wants to go out. He seemed like he was into you.

Lauren: I feel like we’re getting the hang of this.

Audrina: Totally.

Lauren: I feel like I’m getting better at dating. Thanks for setting me up, Audrina.

Audrina: No problem. CUT TO: The Next Day – Lauren’s Car

Lauren and Whitney are driving to the photo shoot.

Lauren: Are we gonna pick up Jade or is she gonna meet us there?

Whitney: Jade’s gonna meet us there.

Lauren: Okay.

Whitney: Yeah.

Lauren: She’s so excited, huh?

Whitney: Yeah, she’s so excited. (Lauren’s phone rings and it is Heidi)

Lauren: Hello?

Heidi: (On phone) Hi it’s Heidi. What are you doing?

Lauren: I’m driving with Whitney to a photo shoot we have to do.

Heidi: Are we still on for tonight?

Lauren: Yeah. Are you back?

Heidi: No I’m coming back tonight.

Lauren: Okay. Um, yeah, I mean I don’t think the shoot’s going too late so maybe like 7ish I’ll probably get off but I’ll just go back to the apartment. Wanna just meet me there?

Heidi: Okay. So we’ll do dinner then?

Lauren: Okay bye. (Hangs up) Heidi never came home from Santa Barbara. (She laughs)

Whitney: Heidi never came home from Santa Barbara?

Lauren: She was supposed to come back yesterday.

Whitney: You’ll see her later?

Lauren: It’s just like weird like having to like schedule dinners with her like it used to be like every single day we were together.

Whitney: I know. It’s one of those things that when it means that much to you, then you make the effort, you know what I’m saying? (Lauren nods) Like…

Lauren: Yeah. CUT TO: Teen Vogue Photo Shoot

Jade, Whitney and Lauren go inside where everyone is getting ready.

Whitney: Hi.

Lawren: Hi girls.

Jade: Hi.

Lawren: How are you? Hi Jade. How are you?

Jade: Good how are you?

Lauren: Hello.

Lawren: Hi Lauren. So you guys, it’s a really big day. So I need to count of you guys. It’s just us, okay? So Jade, why don’t you go in the other room with hair and makeup…

Jade: Okay.

Lawren: With the other kids and get started there.

Jade: Okay.

Lawren: I’ll be in in a minute.

Jade: Thank you. Okay. (She leaves)

Lawren: Whitney, during the day, why don’t you be with me? Just stay by my side.

Whitney: Okay.

Lawren: Have pins, tape, everything ready to go from the prop kit.

Whitney: Okay.

Lawren: Lauren, if you could just stay in here and make sure the kids are dressed, for each…

Lauren: Mm-hmm.

Lawren: Each set up we do, okay?

Lauren: Okay.

Lawren: Okay. Thanks guys. (Lawren leaves)

Whitney: How was the date?

Lauren: Um, it was good. He’s cute.

Whitney: Really?

Lauren: Mm-hmm.

Whitney: Good.

Lauren: Audrina’s guy was chill too.

Whitney: Really?

Lauren: They were really like cool guys like normal, you know what I mean?

Whitney: That’s good. It’s like really refreshing to meet people like that here.

Lauren: Yeah. (Lawren comes back in)

Lawren: Whitney? When you’re putting stuff on the rack, all the hangers go this way so that you see the front of the clothes when you’re going through it. (Cut to other stuff. The kids are getting hair/makeup done) Okay guys. We’re moving outside. We’re doing our first shot. Let’s go. (Cut to outside. Jade is coming outside) I think we need more flowers. Where’s Whitney? (To Whitney) Will you have some pins open and ready for me?

Whitney: Mm-hmm.

Lawren: (To Jade) I know that you’re cold but this is getting really crushed. You are smushing your dress! After I told you not to! Whitney, I need a piece of double stick tape. (Whitney gets it) This is not so sticky. Have another piece ready for me. Careful with your head, Jade. (As they put something on Jade’s head) Try not to do any abrupt movements. (She fixes Jade a little) Whitney, can you just get cold pins converts and bring ‘em to him? (Cut to inside)

Whitney: (To Jade, while looking through clothes) Are you glad you did this?

Jade: (Looking through clothes as well) Yeah of course. I mean it’s like an opportunity that anyone would want to have.

Whitney: I just think you’re lucky to be on…

Jade: My side?

Whitney: On that side of things. Yeah.

Jade: Why?

Whitney: I don’t know. It’s just hard to do things for someone when they’re not really like respecting your position. I know she’s really good at her job. Maybe I’m just being a little pansy, I don’t know.

Jade: I mean well I haven’t seen it but I can’t imagine that you’re just making it all up.

Whitney: Yeah.

Jade: I don’t know. I just wanna wear this dress. (Holds up a brightly colored dress)

Whitney: Yeah that would look really cute on you. If she gives you a preference or if you really don’t feel comfortable in the other one, then speak up. Not that I should be really be talking ‘cause I’m not really speaking up but…

Jade: Yeah. (Looks through clothes and spots a dress) Oh that’s kinda cute.

Whitney: It’s just when you’re the one in the clothes, you speak up. (Cut to outside. They are doing another shoot. Cut to inside again, Whitney is talking to Lauren as they fold stuff) I’m just ready to like hold the reins, you know? Like I wanna style and like I don’t wanna just be cutting tags off.

Lauren: She used to be Anna Wintor’s assistant, right?

Whitney: Yeah.

Lauren: So you know she’s gone through it.

Whitney: Obviously I feel so lucky to have this job and you know, it’s what I wanna do, but at the same time like as much as I love clothes, they’re only clothes. (Cut to later. Lawren is inside with them as the shoot ends)

Lauren: Do you want us to start packing up anything or…?

Lawren: Um…

Lauren: ‘Cause isn’t this the last?

Lawren: Yeah. Let’s keep all the accessories out. Let’s pack up the girls’ racks.

Lauren: Okay.

Lawren: Definitely pack up all the stuff we’ve already shot.

Lauren: Okay.

Whitney: And just to let you know, I don’t mean to be difficult, but I have a like a farewell dinner for my sister tonight, so we have to leave once Jade is gone.

Lawren: Well I’m gonna need you guys to stay and to help me pack up at the end of it.

Whitney (Shows Lauren steaming) The dinner is at six so. It’s over in…over on the West Side.

Lawren: Okay. Well I’m gonna need you to stay.

Whitney: Okay.

Lauren: I can do it, if she needs to leave.

Lawren: Well it’s a lot.

Whitney: I’ll do as much as I can.

Lauren: I know. I mean I don’t mind staying a little later.

Lawren: Okay.

Whitney: Thank you. (Lauren is steaming clothes) CUT TO: That Night – Lauren’s Car

She is driving back to the apartment when Audrina calls her.

Lauren: Hey.

Audrina: Hey it’s Audrina. How was the photo shoot today?

Lauren: It was good. Whitney’s little sister was in it.

Audrina: Oh, Jade?

Lauren: Yeah she’s so cute.

Audrina: Hey, guess what? Chris called and the guys want to go to Café Sushi tonight.

Lauren: Um, I promised Heidi I’d go to dinner with her ‘cause I haven’t seen her in awhile.

Audrina: Okay. Well, maybe another night.

Lauren: I’ll call you after dinner. Yeah, I’m just gonna go meet her right now so…

Audrina: Okay I’ll talk to you later.

Lauren: Bye. (Hangs up) CUT TO: Hillside Villas

Lauren enters the apartment but Heidi is not there.

Lauren: Heidi. Heidi! (Puts down her bag and takes off her shoes. She sees a note and walks over to it.)CUT TO: Movie theater

Heidi is at the movies with Spencer.

Heidi: Can we get um, a large popcorn?

Spencer: Red vines and uh, a bottle of water please. CUT TO: Hillside Villas

It closes up on the note. The note says: Went to the movies with Spencer. See you later. Luv ya! – Heidi. Lauren does not look happy that Heidi left her for Spencer…again. CUT TO: Movies

Spencer: Thank you.

Heidi: Thank you. (They go into the theater)CUT TO: Hillside Villas

Lauren is sitting on the couch. She gets her phone and calls Audrina.

Lauren: Audrina.

Audrina: Hey.

Lauren: I just got home but Heidi’s not here, so do you wanna go to dinner still?

Audrina: Yeah I’ll call the boys.

Lauren: Okay I’ll be there in a little bit. (Hangs up)CUT TO: Movies

Heidi and Spencer sit down in the theater. CUT TO: Hillside Villas

Lauren gets off the couch and gets ready to leave. Then it shows the city of LA, all lit up.
