Previously on The Hills…

Lauren: (V.O.) After everything Spencer had done, Heidi decided to give him one last chance.

Spencer: (Giving Heidi roses) Here you go sweetheart.

Lauren: (V.O.) And our friendship hasn’t been the same since. I told Heidi he was never going to change.

Lauren: I’m gonna be there for you when he screws you over ‘cause he will.

Lauren: (V.O.) And when Spencer confronted me about it…

Lauren: Oh my god. Me and Heidi’s friendship is fine. You don’t need to be concerned about me and Heidi’s friendship.

Spencer: Oh but I am concerned.

Lauren: (V.O.) Heidi took his side.

Heidi: I feel like I have to choose between you and Spencer.

Lauren: You don’t have to choose. But you have chosen for the last week and a half.

Heidi: Lauren, don’t even say things like that.

Lauren: (V.O.) And of course, Heidi went running off to Spencer’s.

CUT TO: Hillside Villas – Audrina’s Apartment

Audrina and Lauren are making food as they talk.

Audrina: So what’s going on with you and Heidi? You guys are working on your friendship now, aren’t you?

Lauren: The way we get along is we just don’t talk about Spencer. I mean, she doesn’t say his name. We just don’t talk about him. And it’s awkward ’cause he’s obviously a really big part of her life. I mean she’s with him every night. She spends way more time with him than me so it’s like kinda weird.

Audrina: I don’t know what…it’s like he put a spell on her or something. She’s just like head over heels for this guy.

Lauren: I know. It’s weird, you know what I mean? I don’t like him. I don’t wanna be around him.

Audrina: Do they say ‘I love you’ and stuff? (Lauren nods) Already? She’s making the same mistake she did with Jordan, kind of.

Lauren: That was like…she made such a big deal.

Audrina: She swore she would never do that again.

Lauren: She was like with Jordan she was like ‘I will never…I always will have at least one night a week where I stay away from them’ And like…she’s stayed at our apartment like twice this month.

Audrina: Oh my god.

Lauren: It kinda like bums me out when she’s like ‘Let’s plan a Lauren and Heidi day’.

Audrina…Heidi day?

Lauren: And I’m like ‘Every day used to be Lauren and Heidi day’.

Audrina: Wow.

CUT TO: Opening Credits

CUT TO: Street

Heidi and Lauren’s friend, Jen, are going shopping.

Heidi: Thank you so much for coming with me.

Jen: Anytime. Any excuse to spend more time with you.

Heidi: Oh…so nice. (Cut to store. They are looking around)

Jen: Do you think Lauren would be upset at all if I hung out with you and Spencer?

Heidi: Lauren can’t control your life Jen.

Jen: (Puts a sweater on a table) No she doesn’t control my life. I control my life Heidi.

Heidi: Exactly.

Jen: (Laughs) Exactly.

Heidi: (Laughs) Exactly. You can hang out with me if you want to hang out with me.

Jen: So, can we do a double date?

Heidi: Well, who do you want to go on a double date with? Brody?

Jen: I just don’t wanna do anything that would upset her.

Heidi: I just bought these. Well you can’t live your life like that either like do what you wanna do.

Jen: I’m trying to listen to you Heidi. I’m trying to take your advice as usual, as usual.

Heidi: I am right. What do I want? What do I want?

CUT TO: Teen Vogue Offices

Lauren is on the computer when Whitney comes in.

Whitney: Hello.

Lauren: Hello.

Whitney: How are you today?

Lauren: I’m good. How are you? You look cute.

Whitney: Oh thank you.

Lauren: I’m like in jammies today. (Whitney sits in her chair)

Whitney: I was. I wore this to class this morning and then I just added this nice touch.

Lauren: Oh it’s very cute. It’s uh, Jen’s birthday today.

Whitney: It is? (Lauren nods) How old is she?

Lauren: Twenty-one.

Whitney: Ooh…

Lauren: I know. I’m like excited to celebrate with Jen because like we’ve been best friends since like third grade.

Whitney: I know.

Lauren: And she’s been like really great ‘cause like Heidi’s been so…like involved.

Whitney: Absent.

Lauren: Yeah. She’s been gone all the time so Jen’s basically been like living with me.

Whitney: Yeah.

Lauren: She’s been a really good friend.

Whitney: That’s really nice. Is she having a party?

Lauren: Um, yeah I mean, we’re all going out. She already invited Spencer though.

Whitney: She did?

Lauren: The only good thing is if Spencer comes, he brings Brody.

Whitney: (They both laugh) That’s a plus. I guess that’s worth it, right? You gotta make some sacrifices for the good of yourself. (They laugh)

CUT TO: Brody’s Car

Brody and Spencer are going somewhere and talking about Jen and her party.

Spencer: Look it, Hollywood Star Tours.

Brody: Pratt that should be your new job.

Spencer: What, giving Star Tours? I was always thinking I would so amazing at doing Star Maps ‘cause I feel like we could like hit up all the homies spots like give ‘em directions.

Brody: Yeah.

Spencer: (Hears girls’ laughing) God I’m so like habit to see a girl laugh and like hitting on ‘em. But I’m always like ‘Girlfriend’. Oh when are you…? You gotta find a lady. Now that I got a girlfriend, you need a girlfriend so we can double date. Heidi’s trying to get us to roll to um, Jen Bunney’s birthday at Les Deux.

Brody: I like little Bunney. She’s, she’s a cutie pie.

Spencer: I think you should mack Jen, to be honest. Jen is cute. Tell ya how to get in the back door. (Brody laughs.)

CUT TO: That Night – Geisha House

Jen, Lauren, and Jen’s college friends go inside to eat.

Lauren: Elizabeth, you like sushi, right? (Points at the menu) These are really good. Heaven roll is really good, the Hollywood roll is really good.

Elizabeth: Just order a bunch of rolls.

Jen: Seriously, though, where’s Heidi?

Lauren: I don’t know. Call her. I don’t know where she is. I’m sure she’s really close, if you told her to come. (Just then, Heidi shows up. Jen is now wearing a crown on her head)

Jen: Heidi’s here.

Heidi: Happy birthday! (Hugs Jen)

Jen: I’m so glad you came.

Heidi: (To Lauren) Hi! (Hugs Lauren)

Lauren: You look pretty.

Heidi: Thank you, you look great. (To Jen’s friends) Hi! (Heidi sits down next to Jen)

Lauren: You know Christina and Elizabeth, right?

Heidi: Yes.

Lauren: We’re gonna toast.

Heidi: (Claps) Yay!

Lauren: (Holds up her cup) To Jen, one of my oldest friends in the world. Who has always been there for me, no matter what. Cheers to Jen’s twenty first birthday and for us, a decade of friendship.

Heidi: Cheers! (They all clink their classes) Woo!

Jen: Here’s to all my best friends.

Heidi: Best friends!

Jen: Best friends. (They all drink from their glasses) No. See, there’s friends and then there’s best friends. Such a different thing.

Lauren: Heidi, when should we give it to her? Now or after?

Heidi: Now, now, now.

Lauren: (Hands Jen a box) This one, is just ‘cause it’s your twenty first birthday so it’s very twenty first birthday appropriate. (Jen opens it and gasps. Inside is a diamond bracelet, with a martini glass on it)

Jen: Oh my god. (Her friends take pictures)

Lauren: It’s a little diamond martini glass. (Jen shows it to everyone)

Heidi: They’re little diamonds.

Jen: No? (Heidi nods) Are you kidding me? (Heidi shakes her head)

Heidi: They’re diamonds.

Jen: Lauren. Those are not diamonds.

Lauren: Yeah, they are. I’m not going to give you fake diamonds on your birthday.

Heidi: Yeah!

Lauren: What kind of friends are we?

Jen: (Hugs Heidi) I love you so much.

Heidi: Of course I love you.

Jen: Lauren, seriously…(Gets up and hugs Lauren) I love you so much.

Lauren: I love you. Of course.

Heidi: Yeah, twenty-one!

Lauren: I am so excited to go Les Deux. I have a good feeling. I can already feel it’s going to be a good night.

Heidi: Damn, you look good!

Lauren: Look at that. I love you so much, I’m eating carbs on your birthday.

Jen: (Motions Heidi toward her) Is Brody coming? (Heidi nods) Yeah? Oh, s***. Is he? (Gets close to Heidi) Too bad he hooked up with my best friend. Done and done. Does anyone need to go to the bathroom? We’re gonna go really quick.

Heidi: I do.

Jen: We’ll be right back. (Lauren waves at them as they go. Cut to the bathroom. We can not see Jen and Heidi in the bathroom but we can hear them talking)

Heidi: Loves you, loves you, loves you.

Jen: Shut up, shut up, shut up.

Heidi: No joke, no joke. But wants macking ASAP.

Jen: What?

Heidi: Would mack you ASAP.

Jen: Are you lying to me?

Heidi: Nope. Not even a little bit.

Jen: How do you know?

Heidi: I’ve heard it straight from the horse’s mouth.

Jen: When? Recently or a long, long, long time ago?

Heidi: A couple of days ago. And tonight. Happy birthday, happy birthday.

Jen: Happy freakin’ birthday.

CUT TO: Les Deux Nightclub

They all go inside. Lauren sees someone she knows and gives them a hug. Someone takes a picture of Jen with her friends. Lauren sees Audrina and gives her a hug.

Lauren: Yay! I’m so glad you’re here. (To someone else) Hi.

Brody: I don’t see anything. Heidi, find me a girl.

Heidi: (As Jen comes over) Yay! Woo! (Hugs Jen) Yay!

Lauren: (To Audrina) I’m so glad you’re here right now. I’m so excited.

Audrina: I know.

Heidi: (She is sitting on Spencer’s lap. Jen is sitting next to Spencer and Brody) Aren’t you glad Brody and Spencer are here on your birthday?

Jen: Yeah. It’s my crew. It’s my crew. I love you guys.

Spencer: Did you see what I got you for your birthday, Bunney?

Jen: What? (Spencer points at Brody. They laugh) Shut up.

Lauren: Where’s Jen?

Audrina: I haven’t seen her.

Heidi: (Taking a picture of Brody and Jen) Snuggle up. One, two, three.

Spencer: Oh damn.

Heidi: Damn! (Hands Jen the camera)

Spencer: That’s going on MySpace. (Jen and Brody look at the picture)

Brody: Damn, you look beautiful. (Cuts to Lauren and Audrina. They see someone they know and hug them. Then goes back to Heidi, Jen, Spencer and Brody)

Jen: You promise Lauren’s not mad at me?

Heidi: I promise. And it doesn’t matter, it’s your birthday. You’ll do what you want to do on your birthday, you hear me. (Cuts to Lauren)

Guy: (To Lauren) Is she here?

Lauren: I haven’t seen Heidi, like, all night.

Guy: Is she here or no?

Lauren: She’s here. Spencer’s here, yeah.

Brody: (Shows Brody and Jen) Why would she be mad at you on your birthday, your celebration night? Why would she be mad at you?

Jen: She wouldn’t. She’s the most amazing friend I’ve ever had in my life.

Brody: So there we go. So why would she be mad at you?

Jen: You.

Brody: Me?

Jen: I just don’t know…

Brody: Bunney, what are you talking about?

Jen: You should go hang out with Lauren.

Brody: Should I get up and walk away?

Jen: Maybe. (Lauren comes over to them) No it’s fine.

Brody: (Gets up) That’s just drama I don’t want to deal with.

Jen: It’s not drama. (Lauren brings Audrina with her and they sit with Jen)

Lauren: Sorry. I just wanted to sit next to the birthday girl.

Heidi: Everybody cheers.

Lauren: Cheers. (Jen hugs Lauren as someone takes a picture) (To Audrina) I just spilled on you. I’m so sorry. By the way…you’re the best. You’re amazing. (Hugs Audrina)

Heidi: Happy birthday. Have fun, please. That’s all I ask of you on your birthday is to have fun.

Jen: Like…?

Heidi: I know.

Jen: Promise?

Heidi: Promise. I’ll always be honest with you. (Jen goes to say something but Heidi stops her) I know. You don’t even have to say anything. I know. (Cuts to later. Broody is now sitting with Jen and Heidi and Spencer) Give me a lap dance Jen for your birthday. (Jen gets up as Heidi pats her lap) Give me a lap dance. What! (Jen dances in front of Heidi) Yeah!

Spencer: (To Brody as Jen sits down) I would dance with Bunney if I were you.

Jen: It was a joke. (Cut to Audrina and Lauren. They are dancing. Cut back to Heidi and them) Let’s go to Brody’s condo.

Spencer: Alright. Let’s get out of here. I’m outta here. I’m outta here.

Lauren: (Back to Lauren & Audrina) I can’t leave without Jen. She probably wants to stay close to closing. (Cuts to Heidi and them leaving)

Heidi: Happy birthday, Jen. Woo!

Spencer: Yeah after party!

Heidi: Let’s get out of here. (Cuts back to Les Deux, Lauren and Audrina)

Lauren: Where is Jen? I am dancing solely for her birthday. Where is she? (Cuts to Brody’s car leaving to go back to his condo.)

CUT TO: The Next Day – Teen Vogue Offices

Whitney and Lauren are setting up for something.

Whitney: So I think that we’re setting up for a meeting in here.

Lauren: How many are there?

Whitney: (As they put flowers on the table) Well we’ll just set ‘em on first and then we’ll decide how much space. Did you go out last night?

Lauren: Yeah we went out to um, Les Deux for Jen’s birthday.

Whitney: Did you have fun?

Lauren: I was there. They didn’t stay the whole time. They ended up leaving me. I guess the four of them went back to Brody’s condo last night.

Whitney: Oh yeah?

Lauren: Jen called me. She’s like ‘I need to ask you something but I…’ Then I was like ‘What do you need to ask me?’ She’s like ‘You know what I need to ask you’. I was like ‘Are you asking me if I care if you hook up with Brody?’ She was like ‘Yeah’.

Whitney: Oh…she said yeah?

Lauren: I’m like…

Whitney: She had the nerve to ask you out as if she shouldn’t have known in the first place?

Lauren: And of course Jen told me that it was Spencer the whole time being like ‘You should hook up with Brody’. You know ‘cause Spencer hates me.

Whitney: Well then Jen should be…well then Jen should be stronger enough to be like ‘Well obviously Lauren’s my first priority and…’.

Lauren: It’s like I know Heidi was there too and it’s just like I’m so tired of my friends just screwing me over.

Whitney: Yeah. People just need to get their priorities straight, you know what I’m saying?

Lauren: They’re cool to hang out with but really, is it really worth like screwing a friend over for that guy?

Whitney: I mean, obviously they have no idea what they’re doing right now.

CUT TO: Epic Records

Audrina is telling Chiara about Lauren’s situation with Jen.

Chiara: Wait, did they end up hooking up?

Audrina: Yeah they hooked up. And Heidi was there. She could have stopped the situation.

Chiara: Heidi should have stopped it. She not just could she should have.

Audrina: And Jen and Lauren have friends since they were like four or five.

Chiara: And Jen shouldn’t have done it in the first place. Right.

Audrina: So…she shouldn’t even have went…she should know.

Chiara: Right, especially since Lauren seems so…

Audrina: She’s so nice.

Chiara: Nice.

Audrina: She’s such a good friend. She got Jen diamonds for her birthday.

Chiara: And Jen repaid her by hanging out with a guy that she’s kinda seeing? (Audrina nods) I would be so pissed at Heidi especially for egging something like that on.

Audrina: Yeah. I think it’s…Spencer’s like brainwashing her a little bit. Like I don’t know what…first of all, Heidi would never do that if it was a year ago. Like she would be like ‘No don’t do that’.

Chiara: Right.

Audrina: Like ‘That’s…Lauren and him are hanging out’.

Chiara: It’s weird that Heidi doesn’t seem to value Lauren enough to like…

Audrina: Yeah.

Chiara: And Jen too. Jen grew up with her.

Audrina: It sucks because those are her two best friends like those are her best, best friends.

Chiara: Is she okay?

Audrina: No.

Chiara: No?

Audrina: She’s not okay. It’s really sad. I feel bad for Lauren.

Chiara: I do too.

CUT TO: Teen Vogue Offices

Lauren and Whitney are steaming something.

Lauren: I’m just so sick of the situation. (Lauren’s phone rings. She answers it and it is Jen) Jen. You and Heidi both act like you did nothing wrong. You did a really cutthroat thing and so did Heidi. So you guys need to stop like putting it on each other and stop making it seem like I’m making drama and you know that I would expect it from someone I didn’t know but not like my oldest friend. But it’s kinda like code Jen that you don’t really…you don’t hook up with people that your friends like hung out with or dated. So Heidi was in the room as he was doing this. No Jen, if you’re sorry, you don’t sit there and make excuse after excuse. You say ‘I did a really bad thing’ and you apologize. You sounded super sorry. Seriously Jen, don’t be at my apartment when I get home. (Hangs up and throws her phone) ‘Okay then, I’m sorry that I called’ like that’s not an apology.

Whitney: I mean not that I think Spencer is like the issue…I think that…

Lauren: Spencer is the issue.

Whitney: Yeah. I mean…

Lauren: He started the issue.

Whitney: Yeah.

Lauren: The behavior is the issue.

Whitney: Yeah. I mean, I don’t wanna say this in a harsh way but like it’s really time to evaluate the friendships that you have.

Lauren: I know but it sucks that it’s like your two best friends.

Whitney: It’s awful. (Lauren’s phone rings again) I think she’s calling you again.

Lauren: I don’t care.

CUT TO: That Night – Hillside Villas

Lauren is on the couch when Heidi comes to talk to her.

Heidi: Hi.

Lauren: Hi.

Heidi: Um, so I need to talk to you about what happened last night. (Sits down with Lauren) I had nothing to do with any of this. It’s like I’m sorry that I left you and if that hurt your feelings.

Lauren: Like if things are going…to continue the way they’re going right now, then that’s not okay. I don’t wanna live here anymore.

Heidi: I just don’t get how this is becoming all on me when it’s like Jen…

Lauren: It’s not all one you.

Heidi:  …was the one who was like making out with Brody.

Lauren: Ask Jen. I told Jen, I said ‘Don’t be at the apartment when I get home. I don’t wanna talk to you’. I’m not talking to Jen right now. I’m living with Jen okay? I am really shocked by Jen’s behavior. But the thing is like last night was just kind of like the straw that broke the camel’s back. Like it’s not a secret. You know that things aren’t fine with us. Like I don’t feel like you’re the same friend as me as you used to be, I don’t.

Heidi: That’s just so unfair because I feel like you put this wall up…

Lauren: How is that unfair?

Heidi: Because you put this wall up about Spencer. It’s like…

Lauren: Oh my god. I’m trying to be a good friend.

Heidi: I am too! So what am I supposed to do? It’s so unfair that it’s like I have to choose and it’s like I’m trying to be here and like…

Lauren: No you’re not choosing. You’re not…you don’t have to choose. But you’ve chosen.

Heidi: Don’t keep saying that.

Lauren: But you have.

Heidi: You make that up.

Lauren: You’ve chosen.

Heidi: You make that up. You make that up.

Lauren: You know what? I consider…

Heidi: I’ve gone out with you.

Lauren: I consider…I feel like if it continues to go the way it is, like I’m not gonna be friends with you anymore. Like all we do is like fight or pretend things are fine and just not talk about problems and that’s not how best friends should be at all. And I feel like if we just continue then it’s not…it’s just gonna get worse.

Heidi: So then what do we do to fix it? It’s like I wanna fix it. I don’t wanna just stop being best friends with you. It’s like I love you, I’m sorry if I’ve been hurting you…

Lauren: You don’t have to stop being best friends but something has to change.

Heidi: So what are we gonna change? I’m gonna be able to talk to you about Spencer?

Lauren: it’s like Spencer’s has you freakin’ like brainwashed. It’s so sick to see. It is. Like you’ve changed so much since you’ve been with Spencer, you have. I’m so tired of being like ‘Pay attention to me, pay attention to me’.

Heidi: It’s not true.

Lauren: Yes.

Heidi: You have to remind me of certain things. People have to be…

Lauren: I don’t have to remind you to be my best friend.

Heidi: I’m not reminding you to be my best friend but Lauren…you’re putting me in the weirdest position. It’s like I’m trying here but I can’t talk to you about my boyfriend. So what do you want me to do? I thought you were making an effort with Spencer too. It’s like this is the hardest thing…

Lauren: I am making an effort.

Heidi: I know.

Lauren: I’m making an effort. But then he does s*** like he did last night. He’s a sucky person. He’s a sucky person.

Heidi: Lauren

Lauren: I hate Spencer. I’m never gonna like Spencer. He did a really messed up thing last night. I know that he pushed Jen and Brody together. Why did he do it? Why did he do it? Give me a good reason why he did it. Did Brody tell you that she kissed him?

Heidi: Yes.

Lauren: Bitch. I haven’t felt so betrayed by best friends in so long. Like…

Heidi: I didn’t do anything.

Lauren: Yeah exactly! You didn’t do anything!

Heidi: I can’t control people Lauren!

Lauren: Say ‘stop’!

Heidi: I did say stop.

Lauren: When you’re on the phone and you tell him that you love him. If he loved you, he wouldn’t do s*** like that to your best friend. You know that like it’s not gonna be okay until you and Spencer are broken up. Like you know that. Because he is the problem. We don’t have any problems without him. (It cuts to outside of Hillside Villas. Then to the city of LA)
