Previously on The Hills…

Lauren: (V.O.) Summer had ended and I was back at Teen Vogue. But my boss wasn’t happy with me.

Lisa: Lauren is always gonna be known as ‘The Girl Who Didn’t Go To Paris’.

Lauren: (V.O.) And that needed to change. My relationship with Jason had ended badly.

Jason: It’s not just like easy to like not see you.

Lauren: I know but it’s harder to see you.

Lauren: (V.O.) And now, I wanted a break from guys. But Heidi kept pushing me to start dating again before I was ready. Spencer got Heidi to believe that she was the only girl in his life. When the whole time, he was seeing Audrina on the side.

Heidi: I would never do that to someone. I would never disrespect somebody like that.

Lauren: (V.O.) And now I was about to learn that Heidi had more on her mind than I could have ever guessed.

CUT TO: Hillside Villas

Lauren is sitting on the couch, typing on her laptop when Heidi comes downstairs and sits with her.

Lauren: Hi.

Heidi: Hi.

Lauren: I’m making my list for my birthday that’s months and months away.

Heidi: Oh that sounds fun.

Lauren: I know. How was work?

Heidi: Stressful. I left early. Had a lot on my mind. I was really sick.

Lauren: You okay?

Heidi: Yeah I think that…I don’t know. For the past couple of days, you know how I’d been like so incredibly nauseous and couldn’t eat? (Lauren nods) So it’s like a part of me thought that I might’ve been pregnant. It’s like we were careful and everything but…I don’t know.

Lauren: Why you say ‘thought’?

Heidi: Because I just took a test.

Lauren: Are you serious? Why didn’t you have me go up there with you?

Heidi: I’ve never like…I’ve never been so scared in my entire life to do anything. Just like ‘Okay what am I gonna do?’

Lauren: I’m so sorry. I wish you would’ve told me.

Heidi: I literally couldn’t even talk about it. I just felt so nauseous.

Lauren: I’m sorry.

Heidi: It’s like going through something like this, it makes you just be like ‘Do you wanna tell that person? Do you not?’

Lauren: Well I’m here. I’ll talk to you about it.

Heidi: I know it’s just…

Lauren: And I won’t cheat on you.

Heidi: Yeah.

CUT TO: Opening Credits

CUT TO: Bolthouse Offices

Heidi gets on her phone and calls Spencer.

Spencer: What a pleasant little surprise.

Heidi: Um, can I talk to you?

Spencer: Go right now.

Heidi: would you mind coming to my work?

Spencer: Is there something wrong?

Heidi: Will you meet me in the back alley?

Spencer: Coming, coming.

Heidi: All right bye. (Hangs up her phone)

CUT TO: Teen Vogue Offices

Lauren and Whitney knock on Lisa’s door while she is on the phone.

Lisa: No. (To Lauren & Whitney) Come in. (To person on the phone) No he’s not. (Lauren & Whitney sit down) Okay I’ll talk to you later. (Hangs up the phone) Um, tomorrow you need to go work at a fashion show. Ashley Paige is the designer. She’s a young LA designer, designs fabulous bathing suits. It’s very important that you do this because she’s a friend if Amy Astley’s and uh, so it’s a special request from her. So I think I’ll send both of you there.

Lauren: Okay

Whitney: Um, I have school tomorrow so I can rush there…

Lisa: What time do you get out?

Whitney: I can do my best to be there as soon as possible but…

Lisa: School is very important. (She looks at Lauren) Lauren…it means I’m gonna have to count on you. Do you think you can do this on your own?

Lauren: Mm-hmm.

Lisa: Okay. So you’ll represent Teen Vogue…

Lauren: Okay.

Lisa: At the show.

Lauren: Okay.

Lisa: So it’s very important that you come through.

Lauren: Okay.

Lisa: Be on time, do whatever they want you to do.

Lauren: Mm-hmm. 

Lisa: I’m counting on you. (Lauren nods) Thank you. (They get up and leave as Lisa turns around to her computer)

CUT TO: Bolthouse Offices – The Back Alley

Heidi is waiting for Spencer. Eventually he pulls up in his car. She goes around to the passenger side, opens the door and gets in.

Heidi: Hi.

Spencer: Well hello dear. What’s with the whole serious aura here?

Heidi: I kinda want to talk to you about something.

Spencer: That’s why I’m here.

Heidi: Well I’ve been feeling really sick and really nauseous and I’ve never, never really felt like this before. (He nods) So…I’m just kinda worried.

Spencer: Well…

Heidi: I mean I just don’t know really how you feel about me. It’s like I don’t know…I get you like me…whatever but this is a whole different level…

Spencer: I more than likes you Heidi. Way more. 

Heidi: What would we do?

Spencer: Whatever you wanna do. I’m not gonna tell you what to do with your body and your life. I’m here. I’m on Team Heidi. But I mean this is a decision you need to make. I’ll go either way with this.

Heidi: I took a pregnancy test. And…I’m not pregnant.

Spencer: I’m a little bit irritated that you just had me thinking you were pregnant for a second there.

Heidi: Oh like boo hoo I’ve been feeling that way for days.

Spencer: Boo hoo?

Heidi: Yes I really…I don’t feel bad. I’ve been feeling that way for days. I thought I really was…

Spencer: So you wanted me to feel it?

Heidi: I…What? I’ve been feeling this by myself for how long? It’s like…

Spencer: That’s your own choice. I would have been at your apartment, a phone call away.

Heidi: I thought I was.

Spencer: So you thought you were pregnant yesterday, you found out you weren’t pregnant, so you were gonna come tell me that you thought you were pregnant just to see how I’d react?

Heidi: You know, it’s like obviously I care about you or I wouldn’t get upset about things. And…you know, it just made me think about us and it just made me think about…you know, a lot of things.

Spencer: If we’re talking about Audrina, who is out of her mind. I never tried to hook up with Audrina.

Heidi: I’m so mad at you still.

Spencer: If I wanted to be with other girls, I wouldn’t be sitting here talking about pregnancy with you.

Heidi: I have to get back to work.

Spencer: So where do we stand here?

Heidi: I’ll call you later.

Spencer: I hope I have my phone with me when you call.

Heidi: You’ll have your phone.

Spencer: Oh no hug good bye?

Heidi: Oh would you like a hug?

Spencer: No I don’t want one if you’re just gonna leave like that. It was a test.

Heidi: Oh!

Spencer: Oh! Well you have a test.

Heidi: It’s gonna be nothing but tests from now on?

Spencer: You’re just a big test now.

Heidi: All right you passed my test so…(She gets out of the car and shuts the door) All right bye, (She starts walking back up to inside Bolthouse) 

Spencer: Bye Heidi.

Heidi: Bye Spence. (He drives away)

CUT TO: The Next Morning – Hillside Villas

Heidi is in the kitchen when Lauren comes downstairs.

Heidi: Good morning, I made you some tea. (Hands Lauren a cup)

Lauren: Thank you.

Heidi: You’re welcome. Going to work?

Lauren: Mm-hmm.

Heidi: Me too.

Lauren: Did you talk to Spencer last night?

Heidi: Um, I went through the whole thing and I was like, ‘You know, I think I’ve been feeling sick, blah, blah, blah…’ But then I said ‘But I’m not pregnant’. (Lauren rolls her eyes) Well how I am supposed to know how’s he gonna react? If he was gonna react wrongly, then I wouldn’t wanna be with him.

Lauren: I don’t think there’s a right way to react to that though.

Heidi: He took it very well so…

Lauren: Good, good.

Heidi: Um, I have a brilliant idea. I think maybe you should go on a date with Spencer’s friend, Brody Jenner.

Lauren: Heidi, he’s been touched by Kristen. He’s like tainted.

Heidi: He was just asking me. He’s like ‘Oh yeah you know, I think I’ve had a crush on Lauren for a while. She’s really cute’. And I was like ‘Oh perfect! I think you guys…’

Lauren: Is he single right now?

Heidi: He’s single. Like I think you guys would be cute together.

Lauren: I’m gonna take a raincheck for now.

Heidi: Okay you should tell him that when he calls. (Lauren gives her a look) He wanted your number, to go a little horseback riding.

Lauren: Heidi, don’t give my number to guys.

Heidi: It’s not just a guy. It’s Spencer’s best friend. It’s such a good idea. (Heidi laughs) He’s gonna call you so I’ll give you his number and you can screen it or whatever you wanna do.

Lauren: Yeah will you though?

Heidi: Yeah for sure.

Lauren: Well I’ll have to get it later ‘cause I have to go. Have a good day at work.

Heidi: You too.

Lauren: (Opens the door) Don’t give anyone else my number.

Heidi: I already did.  (Lauren sighs as she leaves)

CUT TO: Ashley Paige Store

Lauren parks her car in front of the store. She gets out and goes inside.

Ashley: You got two more hours. We doing okay? (To Lauren) Do you know how to answer phones?

Lauren: Do I…?

Kasey: Come on. (They lead her to a desk)

Ashley: Just say Studio.

Kasey: Pick it up right here. Grab a seat. Pick it up. Say Studio, Ashley Paige Studio.

Lauren: Okay.

Ashley: Interns never know how to answer phones. It’s ridiculous. (Cut to Ashley showing Lauren a candle) This is a magic candle and someone messed it up and I really wish we could get it burning.

Kasey: Okay.

Ashley: The wax is all covering it. See what they did?

Kasey: Yeah good luck.

Ashley: We need it…can you dig it…(To Lauren) Do you know how to dig out wax?

Lauren: Sure. 

Ashley: It’s a magic candle from across the street and it really works too. It’s a green money candle and right now we need more money. (Ashley walks away as Lauren looks inside the candle, trying to fix it) And don’t get it everywhere. So her, her last bikini then…(Lauren walks around trying to dig out the wax)

Lauren: I just don’t see it in there at all.

Ashley: Here we go. Number one…what time is it? (To Lauren) You should be wearing a watch.

Lauren: I don’t wear watches.

Ashley: Well how do you know what time it is?

Lauren: ‘Cause I always have my cell phone with me.

Ashley: Okay…

Lauren: (To Jesse, an intern) Did she say this was from across the street? Can I just go buy another one real quick?

Jesse: They’re not open yet. It’s from like a witch store.

Lauren: Oh…

Ashley: The models are relaxing. Must be nice, being so gorgeous you don’t have to work. Us ugly people gotta bust our ass.

Lauren: Oh wait! I found the wick.

Jesse: Shut up shut up.

Lauren: I found the wick.

Jesse: Ashley.

Ashley: Where’s the…bikini…where’s…?

Jesse: Ashley.

Ashley: You did it. (The candle is now burning) Awesome good job. (To Lauren) You can stay. You’re hired. (To Jesse & Lauren, holding an umbrella) Do y’all like this? Do you like this?

Lauren: That’s cute.

Ashley: (Hands it to Lauren) Here, walk with it. Can you walk that way so I can see? Pretend like you’re real tall. (Lauren stands on her tiptoes) You’re pretty but pretend like you’re real tall. Don’t you think it needs more flowers?

Jesse: I think on that side.

Ashley: Can you please help her? She’s new.

Guy: Okay.

Ashley: So she doesn’t really know what she’s doing. Can you show her how to put these flowers on and make it really pretty? (To Lauren) Don’t make it look tacky.

Lauren: Okay.

Ashley: K?

Guy: Okay.

Ashley: The steamer doesn’t go until they’re done. That’s the last thing to go (Pats someone’s shoulder) and she’s going with it. (Shows Lauren putting flowers on the umbrella) What time is it? Ten minutes, we’re leaving.

Giovanni: How you doing Lauren?

Lauren: Good I’m almost done.

Giovanni: All right awesome.

Ashley: I think I need to throw up.

Girl: No, no, no, no.

Ashley: I just got real nervous.

CUT TO: Hillside Villas – Audrina’s Apartment

Her phone rings. She answers it and it turns out to be Spencer.

Audrina: Hello?

Spencer: Well look who it is. My favorite person in the world.

Audrina: Spencer…God

Spencer: Let’s go eat dinner.

Audrina: Yeah I’m gonna have to say no.

Spencer: What’d you say?

Audrina: Uh, I think it might be kinda awkward because Heidi and I, I don’t know what’s going on but we have some kind of, some kind of beef.

Spencer: You’ve done absolutely nothing wrong. Even if I did do something wrong it’s like, hey we weren’t dating…it’s like…

Audrina: Spencer, I gotta go. (She hangs up and it cuts to Spencer)

Spencer: Oh just hangs up. (Hangs up)

CUT TO: Ashley Paige Fashion Show at Smashbox Studios

Everyone is getting the models ready for the show. Jesse & Lauren are putting up the model order.

Ashley: Wait. What are you doing? Put these in show order. Look at Jessica. She’s so pretty. I love her. (She bows and Lauren laughs)

Jesse: Okay Jessica’s first.

Lauren: Okay.

Ashley: (Walking with the umbrella) Here’s extra shoes so since you guys know the shoes, they are. (Puts the bag on the floor) Here’s the umbrella.

Lauren: Yay!

Ashley: Do you really like it?

Lauren: I really like it.

Ashley: Can you find something to do with it? (Hands it to Lauren. Cuts to people arriving to the show. Cut to Lauren)

Giovanni: Lauren you’re going with GL.

Lauren: Okay.

Giovanni: You need to do whatever he says.

Lauren: Okay.

Giovanni: Stay on top of it.

Lauren: Be on top of it.

Giovanni: Don’t play with your hair. (She stops playing with her hair) Stand up straight. (Fixes her posture) Go!

Jesse: When the models start coming out, (Whitney comes in) they’re gonna start yelling their names, and their number. If they need help getting them in order, if they say like Tianni, number twelve or something, you just make sure you grab them by the hand and hand them over. (Whitney approaches Lauren)

Lauren: Okay cool I will. (Hugs Whitney) How are you?

Whitney: Good how are you?

Lauren: Good.

Whitney: What can I help you with?

Lauren: Um…

Jesse: Hey Lauren?

Lauren: Yeah.

Jesse: I need you to stand behind the front and talk to the girl who’s in charge of the models.

Lauren: Okay. (They start walking over there) Whitney’s gonna help too.

Jesse: Why don’t you have an Ashley Paige shirt? You need a shirt.

Whitney: ‘Cause I just got here.

Lauren: Okay.

Jesse: And that’s the order they come in. She’s the first model and that’d be the last.

Lauren: Okay cool.

Jesse: It’s gonna be a little difficult because each of us guys need to make sure that if they need help putting their shoes on or accessory wise or anything, just jump in and do it.

Whitney: Okay.

Ashley: (To the models) Be happy. If you wanna smile, smile. Do whatever you feel.

Lauren: (Her phone rings. She answers it and it turns out to be Brody) Hello?

Brody: Lauren.

Lauren: Hey…wait who is this?

Brody: Uh, this is Brody, Spencer’s friend.

Lauren: Oh hey Brody. Oh wait hey. My model got here. I have to go.

Brody: That’s fine. I’ll just call you in a little bit.

Lauren: Bye. (Hangs up)

Ashley: Don’t put anything on inside out. Be calm. Move slowly. Put it on right.

Lauren: Let the chaos begin. (The show starts and the models walk down the runway. Cuts to backstage. Lauren is tying a model’s bikini)

Ashley: You need to go Jessica.

Guy: Walk with her, walk with her, walk with her. (Cuts to the show. Then to backstage. Lauren has the umbrella)

Ashley: You’re gonna follow them. Where’s Tercel? And the long gown? Her bikini’s not tied tight. (Whitney ties a model’s bikini. It cuts to the model walking the runway with the umbrella.) Tercel is clean.

Woman: Move! (Cuts to show. All the models walk down the runway. Then Ashley comes out and bows to everyone. Then it cuts to backstage again)

Lauren: (To Ashley) Are you happy?

Ashley: Great job. Thank you for helping.

Lauren: It was so good.

Ashley: Can I steal you from Lisa? And I love the umbrella.

Lauren: (High fives Ashley) Yeah! (They laugh)

Ashley: Awesome.

CUT TO: Hillside Villas

Lauren’s phone is ringing. She is not in the room so Heidi answers it.

Heidi: Lauren, your phone’s ringing! (Answers the phone) Heidi’s dating service. How may I help you?

Brody: What did you just say?

Heidi: (Laughs as Lauren comes in the room) What are you doing?

Brody: Heidi’s dating service. That is hilarious.

Heidi: I’m trying to hook you up.

Lauren: (Whispers) Who is that?

Heidi: What’s going on? Hold on. Here’s Lauren. (Hands Lauren the phone)

Lauren: Hello?

Brody: Hello?

Lauren: Hi. (Heidi laughs)

Brody: How was the show?

Lauren: Yeah I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to like hang up so quickly but I was in like the middle of dressing a model and it was like crazy back there.

Brody: Well you have no shows tomorrow night, right?

Lauren: No I don’t have any shows tomorrow night.

Brody: I’m picking you up. We’re going out. We’re gonna have fun.

Lauren: Okay.

Brody: So it’s a date.

Lauren: Okay great.

Brody: All right.

Lauren: Bye.

Brody: Bye. (They both hang up)

Heidi: Ooh…somebody’s got a date. (Lauren puts her hand over her face and shakes her head)

CUT TO: The Next Day – Teen Vogue Offices

Lauren and Whitney knock on the door of Lisa’s office with coffee.

Lisa: Come in.

Lauren: Hi.

Lisa: Hi.

Whitney: Hello.

Lisa: Thank you. Hi Whitney. How are you? (They put the coffee on her desk)

Whitney: Good how are you?

Lisa: Thank you. (They start to leave when Lisa calls Lauren back in) Lauren?

Lauren: Yeah.

Lisa: Do you wanna come back for a sec? (Lauren sits down) Ashley said you did a great job.

Lauren: Oh, she was so cool.

Lisa: I mean and that is what your strength is, I think we’re finding out more and more is the whole production level. She said you were great, you were incredibly helpful.

Lauren: I had fun. It was cool ‘cause I’ve never like spent a whole day like in preparation.

Lisa: Well sometimes, it…really two weeks it takes before a fashion show. And maybe that’s the next thing that you should do, a project, is to try and work with one designer, from the beginning of…the stages. But anyway, I just wanted to say thank you ‘cause…

Lauren: Of course.

Lisa: She did say that it was really helpful.

Lauren: Okay.

Lisa: Okay. All right thanks. (Lauren leaves)

CUT TO: That Night – Hillside Villas

Lauren is getting ready for her date with Brody. She’s putting on her make-up as she talks with Heidi.

Heidi: Hello.

Lauren: Hi.

Heidi: What are you doing?

Lauren: You’re so fancy.

Heidi: Thanks I’m going to dinner. Are you fancy?

Lauren: I’m not gonna get fancy. I’m just gonna change. You going to dinner with Spencer?

Heidi: Yeah. Is this like the first time you’ve gone out with a guy alone since Jason?

Lauren: I think so. Just one on one?

Heidi: But you do wanna go?

Lauren: Well I obviously wanna go, otherwise I wouldn’t go.

Heidi: Well do you think that you’re gonna have fun?

Lauren: I have no idea.

Heidi: I bet you will.

Lauren: I think it’s gonna be pretty harmless. It’s just like dinner.

Heidi: Hmm…big step.

Lauren: Oh yeah.

Heidi: Well that’s good though.

Lauren: Ow…I just hit myself in the face.

CUT TO: Restaurant

Lauren and Brody go inside and sit at a table.

Brody: I have to say you look amazing tonight.

Lauren: Thank you. You look very handsome.

Brody: I really tried.

Lauren: You did. You got all dressed up.

Brody: I feel like we’re so distant. Can I scoot over?

Lauren: Yes you can scoot over. (He moves closer to Lauren)

Brody: Much better. You have a very nice smile. I love it when you smile.

Lauren: Thank you that’s so nice. I got told I have a creepy smile.

Brody: No you don’t.

Lauren: Yeah. I smile. You know normally people smile, they smile (shows how people smile) like this. I smile straight. (She laughs)

Brody: It’s cute, it’s character. It adds character

Lauren: That’s what you say to people when they have like a weird feature.

Brody: To me it’s not…to me it’s cute.

Lauren: Like when someone has like a big nose…’It gives you character’.

Brody: But you know what? What’s wrong with having a big nose? Everybody has a big…it’s all about how just your interpretation…

Lauren: I’m not saying there’s something wrong with it. But I’m saying that…

Brody:  I’m just saying, it’s how you interpret it.

Lauren: It’s like a nice way of saying…

Brody: Somebody thinks that that big nose is cute. Somebody in the world thinks that that big nose is cute, you know? Just like the straight across lift. I happen to think it’s very cute. (She laughs) Straight smile. I’m glad you came. (They look at each other. She points her finger at him and smiles. Cuts to the end of the date as he signs the bill) Lauren thank you for giving the most beautiful date in this place. (It cuts to them in his car. He is driving Lauren home.) Just…God. I just love to see you smile. (He looks at her, smiles and puts his arm around her. He parks in front of Hillside Villas. He kisses her hand.)

Lauren: Thank you. (They both get out of the car. They hug) Thank you. I had fun. Thank you.

Brody: I had an amazing time.

Lauren: I’ll call you later.

Brody: See ya.

Lauren: Bye. (He gets back in his car and leaves as Lauren goes inside. It cuts ot the skyview of nighttime LA)
