Previously on The Hills
Lauren: (V.O.) Teen Vogue sent me all the way to New York City…
Blaine: There is a dress that needs to get to New York, you’re
gonna be on a red eye tonight.
Lauren: (V.O.) Just to deliver a dress.
Lisa: You have to go back on the flight tonight back to LA.
Lauren: Okay.
Lauren: (V.O.) Heidi dropped out of school to land her dream job.
Heidi: Hi I’m Heidi.
Landon: Hi.
Heidi: It’s my first day.
Lauren: (V.O.) Only problem was she suddenly realized she’d actually
have to work.
Brent: If you’re gonna come here and work, we need you to work.
Lauren: (V.O.) Back in Hollywood, my jet lag was just kicking in when I
got a surprising phone call.
Jason: Hey what up Lauren? It’s Jason. Seeing what you’re up to.
Lauren: (V.O.) Now I had to deal with this on top of everything else.
CUT TO: Hillside Villas
Lauren is lying on her bed while Heidi is in the kitchen.
Lauren: How do you get rid of hiccups?
Heidi: What?
Lauren: How do you get rid of hiccups?
Heidi: Drink water upside down, put a pencil in your mouth.
Lauren: Is that possible? (The doorbell rings. Heidi looks through the
hole and opens the door)
Heidi: Oh my gosh. (A man comes in carrying a huge flower bouquet) Hi you
okay there?
Man: I am all right. Are you Lauren?
Heidi: I will be Lauren. I think you got a tree Lauren. (Lauren gets up
and comes in the room. She laughs when she sees it)
Lauren: Oh my god. (Heidi laughs)
Heidi: Do we need to sign anything or…?
Man: Thanks. (He leaves)
Heidi: Who did you get a tree from, your mother?
Lauren: What the heck is this? This is no flowers.
Heidi: Who’s it from?
Lauren: I don’t know. (She finds a card and opens it)
Heidi: Who is it? Does it say? (Lauren hands Heidi the card) “To:
Lauren, Love: Jason”. “I miss you”. Of course he misses you. But you don’t miss
him. (Puts the card back in the envelope) Do you miss him? (Lauren doesn’t
respond, she just looks up sadly at the tree)
CUT TO: Opening Credits
CUT TO: Teen Vogue Offices
Lauren: Are you like dating?
Whitney: No not really. What about you? Any boys from home? From Laguna?
Lauren: I had one. But I broke up…we broke up like just before I moved
here.
Whitney: Yeah.
Lauren: But it’s weird ‘cause like he moved here too.
Whitney: What’s his name?
Lauren: His name is Jason. But yeah we broke up.
Whitney: He did something bad?
Lauren: I ran a fashion show it was like a fundraiser…
Whitney: Oh.
Lauren: And while we were at it, he kissed his ex-girlfriend and I saw
him. I think it was like a wanted more of an apology out of him…
Whitney: Mm-hmm.
Lauren: But I didn’t really get it.
Whitney: Mm…
Lauren: It was like I still had feelings for him but it was like I
couldn’t forgive him.
Whitney: You knew like in your right mind that you weren’t just gonna
let it slide.
Lauren: Mm-hmm…
Whitney: Yeah.
Lauren: It’s almost like I would’ve if he had put in more effort but it
was like…
Whitney: Not enough. (Lauren shakes her head)
CUT TO: Bolthouse Offices
Brett: Hey Heidi. These are all like cards that Brent got.
Heidi: Oh yeah I already filed some of those.
Brett: They have to go in the database.
Heidi: (Her phone rings) Bolthouse Productions. It is on…(Rob comes over
with binders and puts them on her desk) one moment please.
Rob: Can you file these for me in the library?
Heidi: Really?
Rob: Please? Yeah.
Grace: (She comes over to Heidi) How are those phone calls?
Heidi: I haven’t even started, sorry. I was doing things for…
Grace: Girlie I need those now. Did you check the list too?
Heidi: No. (To person on the phone) Hi this is Heidi calling from
Bolthouse Productions.
Grace: Give me a call, let me know how many.
Heidi: Okay.
Grave: Okay thanks. (She leaves)
Heidi: Hey um, our guest list is closed tonight but um, if you just try
to get there early, then we can just try to take care of you then. I don’t
know. I don’t work in the clubs I’m just returning the phone calls. Good luck
bye. (She hangs up the phone when Rob comes again with more binders. She gets a
stressed out look on her face)
CUT TO: Hillside Villas
Lauren comes inside the apartment. She goes to the phone to listen to
messages.
Automated Voice: One message.
Jason: Lauren, hey what’s up? It’s Jason again haven’t heard back from
you. Um, just seeing if you wanted to get together, maybe grab something to
eat, catch up on old times. Uh, just give me a call. All right bye.
CUT TO: Later – The Hillside Villas
Lauren is getting ready to go meet Jason for dinner.
Cut to: Pane E Vino
Lauren walks over to where Jason is and sits down.
Jason: Hello.
Lauren: Hi.
Jason: Long time, no see.
Lauren: Yeah. So why did you call me?
Jason: ‘Cause I hadn’t talked in you for…a while. Seeing how you been.
Missed hanging out.
Lauren: You just wanted to hang out?
Jason: Well we left at such a like a…hard note I was just…
Lauren: I was angry.
Jason: I know you were. So I don’t know I just after a while I just
stopped calling you and then left it cool off for a while and then I called you
up again just to see if you’d kinda settled down, weren’t so pissed.
Lauren: That’s why you kept calling?
Jason: Yeah I mean…I don’t know ‘cause I cared about you and then I
don’t know it just got to the point where you didn’t wanna talk for a while so…
Lauren: Well it was like it was a hard situation. It’s like here’s a guy
who I really like and he’s done something really terrible to me, but I still
like him but I can’t be with him so it’s almost harder. You know what I mean?
Like you kept telling me like, like I was different like what we had was
different but then you like went and did the same thing.
Jason: I know. I know.
Lauren: I didn’t think it was just like you know like something that was
gonna happen over the summer. I really I thought it was gonna like last longer.
Jason: I wanted it to that’s why I got so upset after it. Usually it was
just…I mean I don’t even know what I was thinking. (Lauren sighs) Seeing as we
live in LA now, start fresh. (Lauren sips her drink)
CUT TO: Bolthouse Offices
They are having a staff meeting.
Brent: We haven’t had a staff meeting in a long time. On to what’s
coming up in the future. The Palms, they’re opening their new tower. So
basically what we’re going do is a weekend in Vegas, at the Palms.
Grace: It’ll be a late night out.
Brent: It’ll be a late night afterparty in like a 10,000 square foot
suite that’s unbelievable there that has like a jacuzzi that’s up to the window
glass overlooks all of Las Vegas, pretty amazing. So that’s gonna be the Palms
weekend. Heidi we’d take you to Vegas, but you’re not 21.
Grace: (laughs) Sorry.
CUT TO: Teen Vogue Offices
Blaine: (To Whitney) Hi I need you to make some copies.
Whitney: Okay.
Lauren: Have fun.
Whitney: I will. (She leaves. It cuts to outside. Jason is coming in
with flowers for Lauren)
Jason: I am looking for Lauren Conrad at Teen Vogue.
Woman: Go to the door here…
Jason: Mm-hmm.
Woman: Take a left, go down the hallway and you’ll see her.
Jason: (He leaves) Thank you. (Cuts to Lauren. She is on the computer,
typing. It cuts to Teen Vogue lobby. Jason walks by and walks into where Lauren
is) Peeka-boo. (Lauren gasps) Surprise. (He hands her the flowers)
Lauren: Thank you.
Jason: Do you have a lunch break soon? You wanna grab lunch?
Lauren: Yeah okay let me just go ask…(Whitney comes back) Blaine really
quick.
Jason: All right.
Lauren: I’m sure it’s fine. Oh.
Whitney: Hi.
Jason: How’s it going?
Lauren: (Points to Jason) Um, this is Jason.
Whitney: Hey. (Shakes his hand)
Jason: Nice to meet you.
Whitney: Hi I’m Whitney.
Jason: Nice to meet you.
Whitney: Nice to meet you.
Jason: How’s it going?
Lauren: Do we get lunch breaks?
Whitney: I don’t know exactly.
Lauren: I’m just gonna ask him really quick.
Whitney: Okay. (She sits down) Oh, flowers?
Jason: You’re next up.
Whitney: (Laughs) I’m next up. Seriously, when’s my turn?
Jason: I don’t know. (Lauren comes back)
Whitney: Okay bye nice meeting you.
Jason: See you nice meeting you. (Jason and Lauren leave to go have
lunch)
CUT TO: Café Midi
Jason and Lauren walk to the restaurant and sit down at a table outside.
Jason: Oh, lovely.
Lauren: Little bit cold.
Jason: I have a jacket in my car. You want it?
Lauren: (Shakes her head) Thank you. (A man brings them food) Oh! Thank
you.
Jason: Wow that’s really…gnarly. Thank you very much. You want some of
this?
Lauren: No I never really liked salmon.
Jason: Are you kidding me?
Lauren: When I was younger, my dad used to go fishing like once a week
‘cause he was like obsessed with fishing.
Jason: Mm-hmm.
Lauren: I remember I was so excited when I’d like go with him and like
catch it, ‘cause I’d be all excited that I caught dinner.
Jason: Yeah. That’s cool…I haven’t been fishing for so long. I’m gonna
get that boat.
Lauren: J, what are you gonna do with a boat?
Jason: Take you fishing.
Lauren: (Laughs) What was that?
Jason: I don’t know. (Laughs)
Waiter: Thank you guys.
Jason: Thank you very much.
Lauren: Thank you very much. (Jason pays the check) Thank you.
Jason: Of course.
Lauren: That was very nice of you. (She sighs) I don’t wanna go back.
Jason: What are you doing later on? (They get up from their table)
Lauren: Nothing.
Jason: You maybe wanna go out to a movie or something?
Lauren: Maybe. (They leave the restaurant)
CUT TO: Bolthouse Offices
Heidi and her co-worker, Elodie, go into the bathroom
Elodie: That’s cool. Are you okay?
Heidi: Yeah I just don’t get this company like there’s so many cool
things going on and I just feel like I’m kinda left out.
Elodie: Like you’re not part of anything?
Heidi: Yeah I just feel kind of like left…like there’s always events but
I don’t get to go to ‘em even if I don’t work…I just wish I could do some of
the cool stuff like work at the night clubs like that is so much more fun, just
not what I thought it was gonna be. I quit school for this.
Elodie: Well I think that like for every job there’s a starting point
where you have to start and pay your dues and learn. Then that’s…the more you
learn, the more you know and then you’ll get promoted.
Heidi: But I don’t…
Elodie: And then you get to do those things like you don’t even
understand what I went through. It’s like I paid my dues it’s like do you know
how many girls want my job? Do you know how many guys want my job? Pay your
dues and then you’ll be able to work the clubs and then you’ll be able to work
with me and Kristin and Grace and it’s so much fun and you’ll really, really
enjoy it. I mean were you thinking about quitting or…?
CUT TO: Teen Vogue Offices
Lauren is coming back from lunch with Jason.
Lauren: Hello.
Whitney: Hello. (Lauren sits down) How was lunch? Were there sparks
flying?
Lauren: Well I mean there’s always sparks because there were sparks.
Whitney: That’s so sweet, he brought you flowers.
Lauren: (Looks at them) Oh who put them in a vase?
Whitney: I saw them and I was like “Oh man she should’ve put them I
water”. Flowers aren’t just like a friendly thing though.
Lauren: Flowers, what did my dad always say? My dad always told me
flowers mean, “I’m sorry” and chocolates mean, “I love you”.
Whitney: Do you feel there could be something there again? He’s
obviously trying somewhat to impress you.
Lauren: Mm-hmm.
Whitney: To make you think about like something a little bit more than
just friends.
Lauren: I just feel like it’s something like you know when you like
someone that’s like completely different than everyone you’ve ever liked
before?
Whitney: Yeah.
Lauren: It’s almost like I feel like if I don’t give it another chance
I’m gonna always be like “I wonder?”
Whitney: Yeah sometimes there are just some people that you never get
over. (Lauren nods)
CUT TO: Hillside Villas
Lauren is by the pool, using her sidekick when Heidi comes over and
joins her.
Lauren: Hello. You’re gonna get a skimp down a stomach in that bathing
suit.
Heidi: I don’t know. Remember that day I really did?
Lauren: Yeah that was funny.
Heidi: That was so funny.
Lauren: That was a cute tan line.
Heidi: Who are you texting?
Lauren: I’m texting Jason.
Heidi: Really?
Lauren: Mm-hmm.
Heidi: What is he saying?
Lauren: Hi.
Heidi: I didn’t know you were talking to him. Why didn’t I know about
this?
Lauren: Because it wasn’t really anything to know.
Heidi: Now is it something to know? (Lauren closes her sidekick) How is
the city treating him?
Lauren: Well I think, he’s having fun.
Heidi: Of course he is. Is he seeing other girls?
Lauren: I don’t know, we haven’t really talked about that. I don’t think
so.
Heidi: Just be careful with Jason.
Lauren: I got my guard up this time, it’s fine.
Heidi: As long as you know.
Lauren: I do.
Heidi: I just don’t want to ever see you that hurt again.
Lauren: Yeah it’s just like different this time you know?
Heidi: Only you know.
Lauren: I know.
Heidi: I will kill him if he does it again.
Lauren: I know.
CUT TO: Bolthouse Offices
Heidi: Brett, can you try to help me figure out my phone? ‘Cause I don’t
have Internet or phone (Brett comes over to her) and everything looks like it’s
plugged in.
Landon: (Comes over to Heidi) Hey I think it’s West Hollywood instead of
LA. Oh and we need to order all this stuff.
Heidi: Okay.
Landon: Don’t forget batteries. (Landon goes back to her desk and Heidi
marks a piece of paper)
Heidi: Landon?
Landon: Yeah.
Heidi: Is the labeler dispenser or maker?
Landon: Hon, I can’t hear you, I’m on this call.
Brent: Hey Heidi?
Heidi: Yeah?
Brent: Do you want to order me lunch from the place across the street?
(She goes into his office)
Heidi: Sure. What do you want?
Brent: Tuna on whole wheat with…
Heidi: Mustard.
Brent: Mayonnaise, mustard and lettuce only and then maybe get me one of
those green things (Opens his wallet) whatever that thing’s called. Yeah.
Heidi: Okay.
Brent: Thanks.
Heidi: I’ll be right back. (She leaves to get him lunch. It shows Brent
on his computer and then Heidi comes back with his lunch and brings it to him)
Here you go. (She goes back to her desk)
Brent: Heidi. (She goes back in his office)
Heidi: Yeah.
Brent: Where’s my drink?
Heidi: Oh I’m sorry, I forgot, I’ll go get it. (She leaves to get it and
then it cuts to her talking to Jordan on her cell phone) Jordan! I can’t handle
it; I can hardly handle it now. It’s just so hard like it’s harder for me than
it is for you though. Because like I’m at this job that I absolutely hate. I
can’t do this anymore, I’m gonna quit. I love you. Bye. (Heidi hangs up and
then looks at her phone for a minute. Then she goes back inside Bolthouse)
CUT TO: That Night – The Movie Theater
Jason and Lauren go inside and walk up the stairs into the theater and
sit down.
Jason: Cool. This is the gnarliest theater I’ve been to in my life.
Lauren: Don’t they usually like have something on the theater? (Jason
laughs) Must be a really good movie. It’s far too crowded. It’s packed. (Jason
laughs again) Good choice.
Jason: You’re telling me good choice?
Lauren: Yeah.
Jason: You picked it out.
Lauren: No I didn’t. (The theater starts to get dark) It’s starting.
CUT TO: Later
Jason is driving Lauren home.
Jason: Where?
Lauren: (Points) Right there. (Jason pulls into Hillside Villas and he
parks the car, gets out, and opens Lauren’s door for her and she gets out)
Thank you.
Jason: Mm-hmm. Thank you for coming.
Lauren: (She hugs him) Thank you for taking me.
Jason: Good seeing you. (He touches her face, leans in and kisses her)
Um, go to dinner or something sometime.
Lauren: (She nods) K.
Jason: All right, see ya. (He gets in his car as she walks up to her
apartment. He leaves as she walks by the pool.)
