A clock shows 3:23 a.m. A buzz is heard. Sam opens his eyes and hears the buzz and knocking. He turns a light on and looks at the clock. He steps out  his room and turns on a light.

Sam: Hey. Who is it?

As he nears the door.

Tarzan/John: Jane.

Sam: Jane? Doesn't sound like Jane.

He looks through the peephole and sees John and Jane. Jane is using John as support to stand up.

Jane: Sam.

Sam: Oh my God.

He quickly unlocks his locks and opens the door. He looks at them both.

Sam: Quick, get in, get in, get in.

They come in. Sam closes the door. Jane sits on the couch. John looks out the window. Sam walks up to Jane with an ice pack.

Jane: We shouldn't even be here. I'm sorry.

Sam: Here, shut up and ice your head.

He hands the ice pack to her and leans on the couch.

Jane: Sam, we might have been followed.

She looks at him. Sam turns to John.

Sam: John, were you?

John is at the window.

Tarzan/John: No.

John walks behind Sam as Sam turns back to Jane.

Sam: Okay, there you go. Now, I want to know right now, who the hell did this?

Jane looks down.

Sam: Come on, now, you gotta tell me. Was it Gene?

Jane: Yes.

Sam stands upright.

Sam: Damn, it. I'm gonna kill that son of a bitch.

Jane: Sam, let it go. We gotta find some place safe for John

Sam: Well, I'm sorry, but there is no place safe for him, Jane.

John looks at Jane.

Sam: He's an accused cop killer. Between Gene, his Uncle, half the NYPD, who the hell isn't after the guy?

John looks away and rubs his forehead.

Jane: Then where do we go?

Sam looks at Jane, then walks over, pulls a drawer, removes a key with a fishing bobber, then comes up and hands it to her.

Sam: Here, take these.

Jane: What's this?

Sam: My family owns a cabin upstate. No one hardly ever uses it. Maybe you two should disappear up there for a while until I can figure out how to get you out of this mess.

Jane: I don't want to leave the city until Nicki knows I'm okay.

She looks at Sam. Sam looks at her.

Sam: I'll take care of Nicki, okay?

Sam's door buzzes again. John jumps over the coutner and stands next to Sam. Sam walks in front of him and heads to the back room.

Sam: Come on, let's go, let's go in the back.

Jane gets up and follows Sam. John does too. He stops a second.

Jane: Come on, John.

She gently leads him back. Sam takes the doorknob.

Sam: Okay, now stay in here, especially you.

He turns the light off, closes the door, and answers the front door. He looks through the peephole, sighs, then opens the door. It's Gene.

Sam: What the hell do you want?

Gene steps in and heads to the living room.

Sam: Come on in, make yourself at home.

He closes the door.

Gene: What are you doing up, Sam?

Sam: I'm up because you woke me up. What do you want?

Gene stops and glances around.

Gene: Talk to Porter tonight?

He turns to face Sam.

Sam: No. Haven't talked to her. Why?

Gene: Her boyfriend, the cop killer, jumped me and my guys, couple of them's in the hospital.

He circles around Sam.

Sam: Kicked your ass huh? What's that have to do with Jane?

He watches Gene walk back to where he started.

Gene: Well, she set us up. And she even joined in, got in a few cheap shots herself.

Sam: You're full of it, Gene.

Gene: You tell her to turn herself in, along with her boyfriend. Otherwise, I'm not sure how much more my boys can stand before they, you know, blow.

Sam: I imagine there's a lot of that going on between you and your boys. Now get out of my house, go home and take your medication you psyco, let's go.

Sam heads for the front door. Gene begins to follow when he stops nocticing a couple blood drops on the floor. He looks up at Sam. They both look at the blood.

Gene: Haven't spoken to Porter, huh?

Gene heads to the back room. Sam quickly follows.

Sam: What do you think you're doing? Huh? What do you think you're doing?

Gene opens the door to reveal an empty room. A window is open. A genlte breeze moves the curtains.

Day. John in the passenger seat. Jane is driving. They pass a sign: Welcome to Hamilton County. Jane looks a moment at the rearview mirror, then back at the road ahead. John pushes some buttons and feels the air conditioner on his hands. He finds the radio knob and turns it changing through channels. Jane reaches over and turns both the radio and air contidioning off. She looks in the rearview mirror again. John pushes a button and watches the window go up then back down. He turns to Jane. She looks in the rearview mirror again. We see an empty road behind them. John looks at it, then looks to Jane.

Tarzan/John: You keep looking in there.

Jane: I'm trying to make sure we're not being followed.

She looks in it again. He looks out the back window, then to her.

Tarzan/John: We're not.

She looks up in it again.

Jane: Okay.

John reaches up and moves it out of angle.

Tarzan/John: Stop.

Jane: John.

He puts a hand on her right arm a moment.

Tarzan/John: Don't look back.

He moves his hand back, but continues to look at her.

Tarzan/John: Look where we are now.

Jane looks and sees trees and blue sky.

Jane: Alright, alright. That's beautufil.

Tarzan/John: Yes.

Jane looks at John, then back at the road blushing a little.

Precinct. Sam steps in Lieutenant's office.

Sam: You wanted to see me sir?

Lieutenant: Yeah, close the door.

Sam does.

Lieutenant: Jane's diappeared. I had Lopez and Bridgeam tailing her last night. She dised them, now we can't find her. You haven't seen her or talked to her?

Sam: No, I haven't seen her.

Lieutenant walks to the door and closes the blinds. He closes a second next to the door.

Lieutenant: You seen Taylor

He closes another set.

Lieutenant: Bridgeham isn't much better.

He closes another.

Lieutenant: This is the report they filed last night. Which I'm sure is pure fiction,

Hands it to Sam.

Lieutenant: But they're sticking to it.

He walks back to his chair. Sam and Lieutenant make eye contact.

Sam: I can't really say anything about it, sir.

Lieutenant removes his reading glasses.

Lieutenant: If you know something, you should. It's your ass on the line too, Sam.

Sam stays quiet.

Lieutenant: Look, I know Gene's a hot head. I trust him about as far as I can spit. So, I gave him specific orders. I don't want him anywhere near the Michael case, and that's about all I can do until somebody speaks up.

Lieutenant walks around his desk.

Lieutenant: If I had a way of getting a message to Porter, I'd tell her to turn herself in so I can put her in protective custody.

Lieutenant moves to the door and opens it.

Lieutenant: Okay, that's it Sullivan. Taylor, my office.

Lieutenant walks back to his desk. Sam walks out the door. Gene and Sam look at one another as they pass each other. Gene steps in and closes the door.

Just before a short bridge crossing, Jane pulls over. Jane puts the car in park, undoes her seatbelt.

Tarzan/John: Why are we stopping?

Jane: Nature calls.

She answers getting out. John pulls himself up out the widow sitting on the window frame a monent.

Tarzan/John: It does?

Jane goes down in a ditch. John gets down and starts to follow, then stands at the side of the road looking down at Jane.

Jane: I believe the little boy's room is over there.

She points to a distance away from her. He looks, then looks back at her.

Jane: Little girls room is right here.

She walks away a few steps, then turns to John.

Jane: John, you know that's an expression, right? There's no room.

She nods, then quickly steps behind a bush. He goes back to the car. He opens the driver door and gets in. He closes the door. He looks in Jane's direction a moment, then looks at the dash. A couple small lights flash. He looks down at the shift. He puts both hands on it and moves it down a couple of slots. He looks down at the pedals and puts his right foot on the right petal slamming it to the floor. The car speeds off. Jane comes from around the bsuh.

Jane: John.

She quickly runs over as she hears the car horn.

Jane: John, John.

She makes it to the driver door. John has his hand on his forehead with a look of worry.

Jane: You alright?

Tarzan/John: Sorry.

He climbes out the window and leans against the side. Jane opens the door and gets in. She tries to start the engine. No luck. She leans back in the seat and looks to John.

Jane: I guess we're walking.

Jane closes the driver door holding some papers from the glove box. She goes to the back lisence plate. She tries to take it off and can't.

Jane: Would you help me take that off?

She steps back.

Tarzan/John: What are you doing?

He picks up both sides of the plate at the bottom and pulls it off easy.

Jane: Well, if anyone knows Sam's car is out here, they could follow us.

John looks at the plate.

Jane: We're covering our tracks.

She reaches to take the plate.

Precinct. Gene and Jed at their desks facing one another.

Gene: Run Porter's car, phone, credit card. She buys a stick of gum, I want to know where she got it. You don't find anything, start all over until you do.

Jed: What about Sullivan?

Gene: Run his card too. And Jed, we gotta do this under the radar so be smart.

Jed nods, then stands up. Gene sips his coffee, then feels his sore lip. John and Jane walking down dirt road. Jane looking at map.

Jane: So John, what made you think you could drive a car?

Tarzan/John: I saw people do it.

Jane: Oh yeah? What people?

Tarzan/John: People in city.

A sherrif bronco pulls up.

Jane: There's your first mistake, people in the city can't drive.

They turn around and see sherriff stop.

Jane: John, stay right here, I'll deal with this. You, uh, try not to look like a figutive.

John looks at himself a moment, then watches Jane step up to the sherrif. John stays where he is. Sherriff gets out.

Jane: We are sure glad to see you. We, uh, had a little mishap back there.

Sheriff: Grey four door?

Jane: Yeah.

Sheriff: Yeah, I saw that. What happened?
Jane: A bee flew in the window. I got a thing about bees.

He looks to John, then back at Jane.

Sheriff: You from the city?

Jane looks at John, then back at the sherriff.

Jane: Yeah, that obvious?

Sheriff: Tow truck's on it's way. The closest garage is about twenty miles back. Why don't you hop in? I'll give you a lift.

Jane: No thanks. I don't wanna put you in any more trouble I got a friend who lives just up the road.

John looks down the road, then back.

Jane: He's probaly worried about us as it is. He'll give us a lift.

Sheriff: You sure?

Jane: Absolutely.

Jane and John start to walk off.

Sheriff: Hey, uh, Miss?

Jane goes back and shakes his hand.

Jane: Morris. Deana Morris.

Sheriff: Sherrif Tim Sweeny. Your car's got no plates.

Jane: It did.

Pretending to look confused. Sweeny looks to John and sees he is barefoot. He looks back to Jane.

Sweeny: Look, I'll swing by the garage later on, check in on you.

Jane: Great. Thank you.

Jane and John head off. Sweeny gets in his bronco. He gets on his radio. John walks with a stick. He stops and looks around with a smile seeing lots of trees. Jane comes from behind a bush with map swatting at bugs.

Jane: You know, this is exactly why I quit the girlscouts. I hate bugs and I hate dust.

She stands next to John and looks at the map. She tries to swat at another bug.

Jane: I need bug spray.

Then looks back at the map.

Jane: Okay, um, the cabin should be right up there.

She points ahead, then heads in that direction.

Jane: I also want to find a glass of water before Jane drops dead.

John smiles, then follows her.

Sweeny goes back to the Cherokee. He heads to the passenger side. He pulls down the visor and doesn't find anything. He puts the visor back up then checks the glove box and finds it empty. He closes it. He reaches over and pops the hood. He goes to the front of the car and opens the hood. Steam comes out. He goes around to get a look at the engine number. He gets on his radio.

Sweeny: Scott.

Scott: Yeah.

Sweeny: Hey, it's Tim.

Scott: Go ahead, Sherrif.

Sweeny: Do me a favor. I'm gonna give you an engine number. Put it over the wire, will you? See if anyone's reported a car theft.

Sam's cabin. Jane walks up and unlocks the front door. She walks in. John follows. John looks around with a smile as he closes the door. Jane puts the papers on the mantle. John walks up to the mantle.

Jane: Okay, Sam. Tell me you have canned goods.

She says crossing the room to the cupboards. She opens one and looks inside. John finds a pair of binoculars. Jane continues to search. John takes a few steps towards Jane and stops. He holds the binoculars vertilce and looks through the large lens. Jane closes the cupboard door, turns around and leans against it.

Jane: This is exactly what I love about the city. You have everything right there.

She looks at John as he lowers the binoculars while looking back at her.

Jane: Your bagels, your chocolate milk, and you have smoothies, and here, we got nothing.

Jane thinks a moment, then looks at John.

Jane: We got nothing. Oh my God, I haven't even thought about it in an hour.

Tarzan/John: About what?

Jane: Michael's case, Donald Ingram, Richard Clayton. It's just....it's just us.

They hold eye contact a moment. She steps away from the cupboards and goes back to the mantle.

Jane: Which is exactly why we need food and water. Which we don't have.

She turns around. John faces her.

Tarzan/John: There's food, and water.

Jane: Where?

They are at a river. Jane is sitting a short distance away. Her shoes off, her jeans rolled to her knees. John is standing in the water, his shirt sleeves rolled up.  He looks up from the water to Jane and waves her over.

Tarzan/John: Come in and fish.

Jane smiles and looks form the water to him.

Jane: With what?

He smiles bringing his hands up. She scoffs.

Jane: No thank you. I'll stay righ there.

John shakes his head slightly, then looks back down the river. Jane notices a bee hovering close to her.

Jane: John, there's a bee.

As she continues to watch it. She swats at it missing. John looks at her a second.

Tarzan/John: Leave it alone.

Then looks back down the river. Jane swats at it a couple more times. It lands on her leg.

Jane: It's on my leg.

John looks back at her again for a second.

Tarzan/John: Sit still.

Then looks back down the river. Jane kicks her leg, the bee flies around. Jane stands up and shakes.

Jane: Agh.

John quickly reaches in the water and pulls out a fish. Jane continues to swat at the bee. John pulls out a fish. The bee stings Jane on her left shoulder. John holds the fish with both hands above his head.

Tarzan/John: Food.

Uses the fish to point along the river.

Tarzan/John: Water.

Jane squeezes her shoulder then slaps it a couple of times.

Jane: Ouch.

John takes the wiggling fish and puts it down a foot from the water, then goes to Jane. Jane contines to look at her shoulder when John claps a handful of mud on the sting. Jane looks to him, then back at her shoulder taking the clump of mud off.

Jane: What are you doing?

Tarzan/John: Mud takes away the pain.

He says smiling as he steps back. Jane looks at him, then back at her arm. She rubs it slightly. John turns and heads back to the water. Jane smiles as she picks up a clump of dirt and hits John in the back right shoulder. John stops. Jane throws another. John straightens, partially looks over his shoulder, then gets two hands of mud and hits Jane as she comes next to him. She picks up more mud as they take a few steps in the water. She tries to shove it in his face. He turns his face away. He takes her wrists and causes her to turn sideways. He wraps his arms around her waist pinning her arms and tries to drop her in the water. She lands on her feet and gets loose from his arm. She turns around. John holds her elbows a moment. They make eye contact and stop mud fighting. John puts his right hand on the side of her neck just under her ear carressing. They are close enough to move in for a kiss. They lean close almost touching noses. Jane looks down and steps back.

Jane: I-

John reaches for her arm.

Jane: I'm filthy. I gotta go clean up.

She walks away. John watches her go.

Night. Jane puts another log on the fireplace. She turns to the side hearing coyotes outside. She sits down next to John. They both have their backs against the couch. She wraps a blanket around herself and sits back. Jane looks over her left shoulder in Johns' direction hearing the coyotes howl some more. John leans forward slightly. Jane looks at him.

Tarzan/John: You are safe.

Jane: That's nice. John, they sound like they're right outside our door.

She looks from the fireplace to him.

Tarzan/John: Yes.

Jane: Yes they are or yes they sound that way?

Tarzan/John: You're safe here.

Jane looks back at the fire pulling her knees a little closer.

Tarzan/John: Do you want me closer

Jane turns to him.

Tarzan/John: Or farther?

Jane: No, you're okay here.

Jane looks back at the fire, then back at John.

Tarzan/John: I don't mean now. I mean always.

He reaches out and caresses her left cheek. Jane leans in his and a  moment.

Jane: I wish things could be simpler.

Tarzan/John: They can be.

John moves his hand away. Jane looks at John.

Jane: How?

Tarzan/John: We can stay here. Together.

Jane looks down.

Jane: No.

Tarzan/John: Why not?

Jane looks back at John.

Jane: I have my job.

Looks back at fire.

Jane: I think. And John, even if I didn't

She looks back at him, his smile gone.

Jane: Sometimes you have such innocence. And sometimes, you are so violent, unpredicable. So, how could I choose to stay out here with you when I don't know what I'd be choosing? When I don't know you?

John stands up, goes to the front door, and opens it. He and Jane look at one another a moment, then he slams the door. Jane leans forward running her hands through her hair, then interlocks them as she looks back at the fire.

Precinct. Jed and Gene talking. The precinct looks empty.

Jed: Got it over the wire. Hamilton County Sheriff's office reported an abandoned car possibly stolen on highway 41. Registered to Sam Sullivan.

Gene: Does he know?

Jed: No, I took the message myself.

Gene glances around a moment, then looks back at Jed.

Gene: So what the hell's in Hamilton County?

Jed: Trees mostly. Vacation homes, hunting lodges, like that.

Gene: Alright, then. Let's go hunting.

Morning sunrise. The sun peeks through the clouds over the trees. Jane opens the door and steps out wrapped in a blanket. As she looks around, she sees a wolf. She sees it stop. John comes crawling slowly up to the wolf. He offers the back of his hand to the wolf. Jane steps forward. John starts to pet the wolf, then comes a little closer. Jane watches stepping forward again. John pets the wolf's neck as the wolf licks his face a couple times. When Jane steps forward again, a board creeks under her left foot. Jane looks from the board to John. John and the wolf see Jane. The wolf goes away. John watches the wolf go, then looks to Jane.

Hamilton County Sherrif's Office. Gene and Jed step in and walk to Sweeny's desk.

Sweeny: Morning. How can I help you?

Gene: Gene Taylor, Jed Carrier.

Shakes hands, pulls out badge.

Gene: Brothers in law enforcement. NYPD.

Jed shakes hands.

Jed: Hey, how you doing?

Sweeny: Tim Sweeny.

Sees Gene's scratched up face.

Sweeny: What'd you do? Wrestle with a bear?

Gene: Unfortunately, the animals in the city aren't as polite as bears.

Sweeny: You come up here on business?

Gene: Personal. Came to help out some friends.

Looks to Jed a second, then back at Sweeny.

Gene: But we got turned around. They called, said their car conked out on 41.

Sweeny: Grey four door.

Jed: Yeah. Nice looking brunette. Guy with blonde hair.

Sweeny: Hippie guy with no shoes.

Jed: Yeah, that's him.

Sweeny: Yeah, I thought they mighta stole that car.

Gene: No, that's our buddy Sam's car. They asked us to pick them up at the cabin, but we don't know our elbow from our ass up here.

Sweeny: They were heading west. That's gotta be Rock Lake. That's a lot of ground for you guys to cover.

Jed: No, we'll find it. Thanks Sherriff.

Gene and Jed leave.

Sam walks up to a desk holding a cup of coffee and a newpspaer.

Desk Seargent: Hey, good morning Sam, how you doing?

Sam shows the cover of newspaper.

Sam: I'm pulling a Saturday shift with 5 college games on the tube. How do you think I'm doing?

He asks picking up a file, then starts to walk away.

Desk Seargent: Oh, Sam. I almost forgot.

Sam stops and turns around.

Sam: Yeah.

Desk Seargent: I'm really sorry.

Sam: Sorry about what?

Desk Seargent: About your car.

Sam goes back to the counter.

Sam: Wat do you mean 'my car'?

Desk Seargent: Boys up in Hamilton County called. Said they found your car abandoned in the ditch. Didn't Carrie give you the message?

Sam leaves the same way he entered.

Desk Seargent: Sam, where you going?

View of lake. Jane walks in view holding her sweater around her shoulders. She looks around.

Jane: (Loud) John.

She takes a couple more steps then cirlces.

Jane: Where are you?

John is up in a tree behind her.

Tarzan/John: Up here.

She turns around and sees him.  He is squatting on a big branch holding onto a large rope.

Tarzan/John: Come up.

Jane takes some steps in his direction, then stops.

Jane: John, are you mad at me for what I said last night?

Tarzan/John: Why would I be mad? Now, come up.

Jane: Um, you know John. I've never really climbed a tree and I don't see any reason to break a perfect streak.

Tarzan/John: You're afraid.

He lets go of the rope and gets up on both feet.

Tarzan/John: I will help.

Jane smiles as she comes up. John jumps down, lands on the ground, then stands up.

Jane: I am not afraid, okay? I don't-

John steps aside to reveal wood boards going up the tree.

Jane: -Climb trees.

John looks to her with a half smile. Jane looks at him, then the tree.

Jane: Alright. Fine.

She removes her sweater.

Jane: Move over.

He steps aside. Jane starts to climb up. Her shoes slip.

Tarzan/John: It's, uh, easier barefoot.

Patting his foot. Jane looks at him, then climbs back down. John and Jane smile at each other. Jane removes her socks and shoes. John puts two hands on one board. He gets both feet on the same board, then jumps to reach one a couple boards up. He does one more jump and is on the top. Jane watches him. John reaches down with his left arm to Jane. Jane takes the boards one at a time, then reaches for John's hand. He takes it and pulls her up to where he is. He lets go and pulls up onto the large branch. He moves to the left of the large rope as Jane climbs up. Jane is in front of John. John gives her the rope.

Tarzan/John: Relax.

They both hold on as John swings them out over the water. They swing back to the large branch. John uses his foot and pushes off the branch swinging them out again. When they are out over the water, John holds onto Jane's waist and they both land in the water. They both come up for air. John splashes at Jane. Jane splashes back twice. At the cabin, the door opens. Jed walks over to a table. On it is a cribbage board, a deck of cards, a set of keys, and a wallet. He picks up the wallet and opens it. It's Jane's NYPD Detective i.d. along with a couple other cards. He closes it. He walks up to a waiting Gene who is leaning against the trunk.

Gene: Well?

Jed: We got the right place.

Gene smiles as he turns around and opens the trunk. He pulls a couple shotgun shells. Jed checks the clip in his handgun. Gene pulls out a rifle and slams the trunk. Jane and John walking in the woods. Jane has her sweater on and is carrying her shoes.

Jane: What was it like for you where you grew up?

John stays quiet.

Jane: I mean, were you scared? Were you happy? Did you wonder where your parents were? Was it exciting with all that freedom?

Tarzan/John: Yes.

Jane: You must have been so much more home there than you were in the city.

As she moves a tree branch aside.

Tarzan/John: At home?

Jane: Mm-hmm.

Tarzan/John: No.

She stops and turns to face him.

Jane: But you know it so well. I mean, John it was your world.

Tarzan/John: No it wasn't.

Jane: Why not?

Tarzan/John: There was no one like me. I was different. Alone. It was dark all the time.

He steps up and touches the middle of her chest.

Tarzan/John: In here.

They hold eye contact a moment. John turns to the side and hears birds quickly fly away and men talking. Jane steps up.

Jane: John.

He puts his hand on her lips.

Tarzan/John: Shh. They're coming.

She looks in the direction he is. Gene is jogging through the woods. Jed is following. John and Jane run. Sam pulls up to the cabin. He gets out.

Sam: Jane.

He runs inside.

Sam: Jane.

He steps back out.

Sam: Jane!

John is running and jumping over tree logs. Jane is behind him.

Jane: Go John, hurry, go.

Gene puts a bullet in the rifle, secures it, let's out a breathe, then cocks his rifle. Gene and Jed then continue. John stops a moment letting Jane pass, then follows her. Gene and Jed continue. Gene stops finding footprints in the mud. They follow them. John is ahead of Jane.

Jane: They're right behind us, go, go.

John stops and waits for Jane. She passes him and he follows. Gene an Jed contiue to follow the tracks. John jumps through two trees. Jane steps through and trips. John comes over and helps her up.

Jane: John, I'm sorry. I'm slowing you down.

He puts one hand on her cheek and makes eye contact.

Tarzan/John: We're almost there.

Jane: Where?

He gently pushes Jane to go. She runs, he follows. Gene and Jed are still following the tracks. Jane and John arrive at a river.

Jane: What are you doing?

Tarzan/John: Covering our tracks.

He steps in the water. Gene and Jed are getting close. Jane and John run in the river a ways. They get on the other side. John sees a tree. He runs up the side of the tree. He climbs onto a thick branch. Gene and Jed enter the water. John hangs on the underside of the branch and holds a hand down to Jane.

Tarzan/John: Your hands.

Jane is hesitant.

Tarzan/John: Your hands.

She jumps up grabbing his hand with both of hers. John gets a good swing and swings her up on the branch. Jane climbs onto it better. Gene and Jed reach the other side of the river. Jane looks down at them. Gene and Jed walk left, John and Jane's right. John gently coves Jane's mouth.

Tarzan/John: Shh.

Gene and Jed walk back to where they started.

Gene: Where'd he go? They couldn't have gone far.

Gene and Jed head right putting their backs to Jane and John.

Tarzan/John: They'll be back.

Night. There is a half moon. Jane and John continue through the wods.

Tarzan/John: We need to move faster.

Jane: Are they close?

Tarzan/John: Yes.

They hear some twigs snapping. John puts Jane on the ground on her stomach. He crouches over her as someone comes closer with a flashlight. John moves to Jane's left remaining squatted. He waits until they are close enough. He jumps up and knocks Sam's arm aside.

Sam: Hey, hey, hey. Sam. Sam.

John looks at Sam a moment, then nods once. Sam finds Jane.

Sam: I know I look crazy in hiking boots, but you ain't gotta hide.

He helps her up.

Jane: Sam, thank God it's you.

Sam: Look, let me guess, with this whole 'Blair Witch' freaked out covered in scratches thing, you ran into Talyor and Carrie?

Jane: They found us.

Sam: Alright let's go. My car's at the cabin.

Jane and Sam start to take off. John starts to, then stops and turns around. Jane turns around.

Sam: Hey, hey, hey. Come on, Jane.

Jane: Where are you going?

Tarzan/John: I want them to follow me.

Jane: No, I'm not gonna let you do that.

Tarzan/John: (To Sam) Take care of her.

Sam: Let him go, let him go. He can take care of himself. Come on, let's go.

They start heading to Sam's car. Gene and Jed continue to look. Jed shines his flashlight around and sees John jump down from a tree to the ground and go through some bushes.

Jed: There.

He goes after John. Gene begins to, then stops. He sees John is alone. Jane and Sam near the car.

Jane: We shouldn't have left him Sam.

Sam: We need to get to town and find the sherriff.

Jane: And bring more cops out here? What about John? I'm going back.

Sam grabs her arm.

Sam: No wait. Listen, those guys are running around with shotguns, okay? We need to get some help.

Jane stands there a moment as Sam heads to the car. Jane starts to follow Sam as Sam opens the driver door. He gets in, closes the door, puts the key in the ignition. He turns to look out the passenger window and sees Gene holding a handgun to Jane's head.

Gene: Get out, slowly. Hands in the air.

Sam: What the hell you think you're doing Gene?

Gene: Do it now, Sam.

Sam opens the door and gets out. He closes the door looking at Gene.

Sam: You know if you hurt her, I'm gonna have to kill you, right?

Gene raises the gun closer to her head.

Sam: Alright, alright.

Gene: Put the gun on the hood, now.

Sam gets his gun out and steps up to the hood. Gene and Jane do too. Sam puts his gun in the middle of the hood. He shoves Jane to Sam as Jed comes up.

Jed: No sign of him.

Jane: John's long gone, Gene. You're never gonna find him.

She says turning around to face him. Gene still has his handgun pointed at both of them.

Gene: I'm not expecting to find him. I'm expecting him to find me.

Gene keeps the gun aimed a moment longer, then shoots in the air. Sam and Jane are handcuffed to the grill of the car. Jed shines a light at the cuffs Sam is moving. Sam stops.

Jane: I thought he was a friend of yours.

Gene finishes a can and throws it ahead in the bushes.

Gene: You know something? I freaking hate the country.

Jed shines at shoulder level.

Gene: No, shine it up. That's where he's gonna be coming from.

Jed shines in the treetops.

Sam: Shine it up. (Sing song) He'll be coming to get your ass when he comes.

Gene: Shut up.

Sam: You know what I don't get? How'd you get Jed here into torching his career?

Jed looks at Sam.

Sam: What'd you do? Promise him some lottery tickets?

Gene: The only ones torching their careers here is you and Porter.

Sam: Oh really? 'Cause off the top of my head I count kidnapping, assault with a deadly weapon. I count excessive force. Not to mention ugliness on the account of authority.

Gene: Just apprehending a suspect.

Sam: You call this 'just apprehending a suspect, Gene? Huh? By taking shots at a fellow officer?

Gene: She's no cop! My friend Mike died because of her!

Sam: Aren't you supposed to be way off this case? Huh? What's the Lieutenant gonna say when he hears about all this?

Gene and Jed stay quiet. Sam looks from Jed to Gene.

Sam: Unless you never meant for him to hear about this. Is that the plan, Gene? Kill John Clayton when he shows up, and then kill all the witnesses? Is that your plan, Gene?

Birds fly out of a tree. Jed points the flashlight and gun to see nothing but branches and leaves. Gene steps up to Jane.

Gene: Let's get this show on the road. Call your boyfriend.

Sam: Call yours.

Gene: Do it, now.

Jane: Drop dead.

Gene punches Jane in the face. Sam stands up. Gene gets his rifle and aims it at Sam.

Gene: Back off! Back off!

Sam: Why don't you hit me like that you little bitch?

Gene: Now call out his name! Loud so he hears it!

Jane wipes her mouth.

Jane: He'd kill you if he saw you right now.

Gene: Fine, bring it on. Ring the bell.

An uneasy moment passes. Gene and Jed hear a rustling. Gene and Jed go in guns aimed. They find it's a racoon. John swings sideways, kicks Jed in the chest sending him near Sam and Jane. John knocks Gene over on his back. Gene starts to get up. Jed starts to get up. Jane kicks Jed in the head with the side of her foot spinning him around in the air. He lands uncontious on his back. Gene stands and aims his rifle at John who is on the ground on his back. John kicks the rifle away out of Gene's hands, then shoves Gene on the ground on his back. Jane and Sam pull Jed over. They begin to search his pockets for the keys.

Sam: God. This makes me feel very uncomfortable.

Jane: Yes, but we got to do it. Come on.

Gene kicks John of him and stands to face him. John jumps on his  feet and knocks Gene in the chest.

Jane: What the hell did he do? Hide it?

Sam: Oh please, let this be the keys.

He pulls a set of keys out.

Sam: There we go.

Jane takes them. John takes Gene's right arm and puts it around Gene's neck. He holds Gene's right wrist with his left hand as he takes his right and pushes on the side of Gene's head. Gene begins to choke.

Jane: John.

John doesn't move.

Jane: John.

He lets go. He half looks over his shoulder and sees Sam and Jane. Sam walks Gene around the back of the car to the back right door.

Sam: How do you like that? Doing a perp walk to your own car.

He puts a hand on Gene's head as Gene gets in. Jed is next. They don't say anything. Jed gets in. Sam closes the door. John steps up to the car.

Sam: Hey, hey, hey. Step away from the vehicle. It's the last one we got.

John steps back.

Jane: Yeah, come on.

Sam reaches in and gets the radio mike.

Sam: This is Detective Sullivan, NYPD requesting assitance at 4623 Old Hickory Road.

Sam: You two should get out of here.

Jane: Hey.

She gives him a hug.

Jane: Thank you.

Sam: Hey, listen to me. These two

Nods to the car, then looks back at Jane.

Sam: Might be hella crazy, but they can still place you here with a barefoot fugitive. You know that, right?

Jane: Yeah.

Sam: Conor said he could put you into protective custody. I think you should take him up on that offer.

Sweeny: Yeah, Detective. This is Sweeny. Do you copy?

Sam: Sweeny, I need you to get Gomer and Goober and whoever else you got over here right away.

Sam looks at Jane and John.

Sam: You guys still here?

Jane: No, Thanks.

She begins to walk away. John steps up to Sam.

Tarzan/John: Thank you.

Sam: Don't worry about it. I'll put it on your tab.

Jane waits as John walks up to her, then they walk away together. Sam watches them go.

Jane: I've been thinking. I've been thinking about the plane that was supposed to take you home.

Tarzan/John: Even with no mirror, you keep looking back.

Jane and John stop and face one another.

Jane: This time, I'm looking in the other direction. I'm looking forward to the next plane. I don't want you to get on it.

Tarzan/John: When I am here, you are in danger.

Jane: There are worse things.

Tarzan/John: Like what?

Jane: Like you spending the rest of your life alone because of me. I don't want that. I don't know what's going to happen with us or with anything, but I'm sick of running, I think we should go back and face your Uncle, face everything. What do you think?

Tarzan/John: Will you teach me how to drive?

With a half smile. Jane smiles back.

Jane: Yeah.

She laughs a little as she continues on walking. John looks back a moment, then catches up with Jane.
