[Scene: The jungle – Roxton and Marguerite are walking by a stream.]
Marguerite: What are you looking at?
Roxton: I was looking at you and thinking that we don’t do enough of this.
Marguerite: What? Walk around prehistoric jungles for days on end looking for a way out?
Roxton: Yes something like that. It’s kind of nice don’t you think; just the two of us?
Marguerite: Yeah, it’s been awhile. Refreshing swim might be nice.
[Marguerite splashes Roxton with water from the stream.]
Roxton: Hey!
Marguerite: How is it?
Roxton: You tell me.
[Roxton splashes her back. They laugh together then Roxton gets distracted.]
Marguerite: What?
Roxton: It’s a cave. It could be a passage through the mountains leading to a way home.
[Scene: The jungle - Malone, Challenger and Veronica see Roxton’s mirror signal from a distance away.]
Malone: There do you see it? That’s the whole message.
Challenger: [reading] Found fissure through mountains hurry. What?
Malone: They found it.
Challenger: I knew there had to be a way through those damn mountains.
Veronica: Not through there there isn’t.
Malone: What, what are you talking about?
Veronica: I’ve been through that fissure and it leads to a swamp surrounded by even higher mountains and filled with some very nasty dinosaurs.
Challenger: Well we better warn them right away.
[Scene: The fissure]
Marguerite: It could take them all day to get here.
Roxton: If they got our message.
Marguerite: Of course they did. We might as well make sure it actually leads somewhere.
Roxton: Alone with you in the dark that could lead somewhere.
Marguerite: Light the torch.
[They walk through the cave]
Roxton: You know this could just be the home of some large prehistoric animal.
Marguerite: Well that’s why you’re here; you go first.
Roxton: Ladies first.
[They see another exit from the cave]
Marguerite: Daylight
Roxton: Guess we don’t need these anymore. [They toss the torches to the ground] It’s a lot brighter than daylight.
Marguerite: What is that?
[The light coming from the exit becomes blinding.]
Roxton: I don’t know.
[They walk toward the light.]

[Scene: Roxton and Marguerite are walking through the light.]
Marguerite: Roxton? Roxton where are you?
Roxton: I’m right here Marguerite take my hand.
Marguerite: I don’t know if this is such a good idea.
Roxton: We’ve come this far there’s nothing to be afraid of.
Marguerite: What is that sound?
Roxton: Must have something to do with this light. I wonder where it’s coming from.
[They come out of the other side of the cave.]
Roxton: I can’t see a thing.
Marguerite: It’s way too bright for me. [They walk to the edge of a mountain where a beam of light from a distant mountain is directed at the exit.] It’s coming from that rock on the other side of the valley.
Roxton: It’s reflecting the sun. It’s like a mirror. I wonder what Challenger would have to say about this?
Marguerite: I’m sure when he sees it he’ll go on about it for hours. But apart from this fascinating phenomenon it looks like we’ve reached another dead end.
Roxton: Except for that.
[There’s a village in the valley below.]
Marguerite: Maybe they can point us in the right direction.
Roxton: Looks peaceful enough from here.
[Scene: The village – A tavern is full of people drinking. Two men stand at the bar.]
Grey: Look at them can’t wait to drink their money away. Push up the prices a little and they’ll never know the difference.
Sheriff Hyde: Not them but their wives should feel the pinch Mr. Grey.
Grey: Oh they get by women are good at scrimping and saving. Isn’t that right Josie? I bet you’ve got a mattress full of money.
Josie: Well if I did I wouldn’t be working for the likes of you in a place like this now would I? Not that this ain’t a nice establishment and you both ain’t respectable gentlemen. If you don’t look too closely that is.
[As she walks by them Grey grabs her]
Grey: I don’t know why I don’t throw you out on the street.
Josie: Two reasons.
Grey: Oh?
Josie: And you’re lookin at both of them.
[A shot rings out. A masked woman bandit enters the tavern.]
Bandit: Afternoon folks don’t get up my business is at the bar.
Grey: You again
[Sheriff Hyde pulls a gun and points it at the bandit. She has a sword held at Grey’s throat.]
Bandit: Drop it. Someone has to keep you honest Edgar.
Grey: Who are you? How do you know my name?
Bandit: I told you that the last time I robbed you. I’m your punishment, here to inflict on you the same degree of suffering that you inflict on all those around you.
Grey: You won’t get away with this.
Bandit: As long as you do I will. Time to pay the piper [she hands Grey a pouch] again. Don’t be shy everyone here knows that your pockets are full because theirs are empty.
[Sheriff Hyde takes the pouch and goes behind the bar]
Grey: Thieving unscrupulous wench.
[Grey pulls money from his pockets puts it in the pouch and holds it out to the bandit.]
Bandit: Jewelry too. [Grey puts the jewelry in the pouch. The bandit takes a hand full of coin and tosses it to the people in the tavern and makes for the exit. ] Drinks are on the house.
[The villagers scramble for the coins.]
Grey: No one does this to me! [Grey chases the bandit outside] I’ll see you hanged for this!
Bandit: We all have our dreams Edgar.
[The bandit rides off on her horse.]
[Scene: Roxton and Marguerite are taking a rest by a tree.]
Marguerite: The village can’t be that much further.
Roxton: What’s the hurry?
Marguerite: Why? Do you have something else in mind?
Roxton: [seductively] Now, I have you’re undivided attention.
[Marguerite stands up comes face to face with Roxton they lean in for a kiss. The bandit appears on horseback. She accidentally drops her pouch and goes to pull her gun but Roxton pulls his Webley out and points it at her.]
Roxton: I wouldn’t.
[The bandit rides off.]
Marguerite: What the hell was that?
Roxton: Some kind of an outlaw.
Marguerite: Yeah an amateur; looks like she dropped her back of loot.
Roxton: Stolen goodies. She must have robbed someone in the village.
[Marguerite tries to grab the pouch from Roxton but he holds it out of her reach.]
Marguerite: Fair’s Fair. She almost ran us down.
Roxton: Yes and I think we should try and find the rightful owner.
[Marguerite grabs the pouch from Roxton.]
Marguerite: Finder’s keepers.
[later]
[Roxton and Marguerite walk into the village.]
Roxton: Well, looks fairly civilized.
Marguerite: Compared to what?
[Josie is throwing someone out of her tavern by their ear.]
Josie: You hear me! Come back when you can stand up!
Roxton: Now there’s a pleasant surprise.
Marguerite: Even you wouldn’t stop for a pint?
Roxton: It’s been a while since you bought me a drink.
[They enter the tavern. The crowded tavern comes to a standstill.]
Roxton: Are they staring at me or you?
Marguerite: You I hope.
[They walk up to Josie behind the bar.]
Roxton: I see you’re open for business.
Josie: Well that depends on whether you’ve come to rob the place or buy a round. [She looks at Marguerite and the pouch] You’re mad coming in here with that.
Marguerite: This? Oh we just found it.
Josie: Sure you did.
Roxton: No, it’s true. The woman who dropped it almost ran us down.
[Sheriff Hyde walks into the tavern.]
Josie: Best put it away now.
Roxton: But we came to return it
[Sheriff Hyde pulls his gun.]
Sheriff Hyde: You two are under arrest, hands on your heads.
Marguerite: Under arrest for what?
[Sheriff Hyde grabs the pouch.]
Sheriff Hyde: Thank you.
Roxton: There must be some mistake.
Sheriff Hyde: That’s enough out of you whoever you are. Get their weapons.
[Marguerite and Roxton are pushed into a jail cell.]
Marguerite: This is ridiculous. The woman that you want is still out there.
Sheriff Hyde: Right and she gave you the money that she stole.
Grey: Good work Hyde. Well well…at last we meet face to face without the mask.
Marguerite: And who are you?
Grey: Come now there’s no need to pretend any longer. I have a list of charges as long as your arm. You’ve been caught red handed.
Marguerite: [to Roxton] See, this is what happens when you try and do the right thing. [To Grey] We brought your money back there should be a reward.
Grey: Reward? Absolutely, after your trial you will be treated to a public execution. And you…you will hang as her accomplice.
Roxton: We ran into the woman you’re looking for on the way into the village.
Marguerite: She almost ran us down.
Grey: Do you think I am fooled by your phony accent? Three times you have robbed and threatened me. Your trial will begin today and end tomorrow. Justice will be swift.
Marguerite: And blind!
[Scene – Veronica, Challenger and Malone find the fissure]
Malone: Maybe they didn’t get our message and went to explore the fissure anyway.
Veronica: If they did the dinosaurs will chase them out in a hurry.
[The bandit gallops on horseback with her pistol aimed at Veronica and Malone]
Challenger: Look out!
[The bandit takes a shot at Malone and gets off her horse. Veronica holds out her knife. The bandit holds out a pouch.]
Bandit: Don’t even think about it. Drop it and the rest.
Veronica: What do you want?
Bandit: You look like well heeled travelers.
Challenger: You intend to rob us?
Bandit: You must be the brains of the outfit.
[Challenger hands the bandit his rifle]
Malone: We don’t have any money.
Bandit: I don’t want your money just your weapons and ammunition.
Malone: You can’t leave us out here unarmed.
Bandit: Unarmed or dead it’s your choice.
Veronica: We’ll track you down.
Bandit: Good luck to you, in two days I’ll be gone forever.
Challenger: But where did you come from?
Bandit: Are there anymore like you around here?
Veronica: Most of them aren’t as friendly.
Bandit: Good think I have your weapons. Fine looking guns they are too.
[The bandit gets on her horse and rides away.]
Challenger: Gone forever in two days.
Malone: Do you think she knows a way off the plateau?
[Scene: The village – Marguerite and Roxton are led out for their trial. The executioner is getting the noose ready for the hanging.]
Roxton: I thought your friend said there was going to be a trail before the execution?
Sheriff Hyde: This is it, we like the accused to face the punishment of what’s in the future.
Marguerite: Something tells me there isn’t going to be much of a trail.
Sheriff Hyde: Move it.
Roxton: Marguerite, I’m going to make a run for it.
Marguerite: What about me!
Roxton: You can help me just…don’t worry; I’m not going to leave you for the hangman. Are you ready? [Marguerite nods her head.] Fall over. [Marguerite hesitates and Roxton pushes her with his shoulder knocking her down. He fights off the henchman and makes a run for it.]
Grey: Get him!
[Roxton makes it into the livery and manages to get the chains off his feet. He fights off the henchmen who enter the livery. Roxton manages to get his weapon back from Sheriff Hyde.]
Roxton: Stealing my gun and I thought you were supposed to be Sheriff.
[Roxton takes his Webley and leaves the stables.]
Grey: Court is now in session.
[Grey has his gun pointed at Marguerite’s back. Roxton shows himself with his gun pointed at Grey.]
Roxton: Let her go. This was all a big mistake.
Grey: Put down your gun or they’ll be no trial just an execution. [Roxton steps closer and Grey cocks his weapon.] Ah Ah…another step.
Roxton: You’ve only got one shot, you can’t kill us both.
Marguerite: He’s aiming at me Roxton.
Grey: And I cannot miss from here.
Roxton: All right we’ll do it your way.
[Roxton throws down his gun.]
Grey: This is my way.
[Grey raises his gun and shoots Roxton who falls to the ground.]
Marguerite: No! No! Roxton!
Grey: Put them both in the cell.
[Fade Out]
[Scene: The jail – The henchman throw Marguerite and Roxton into the cell. Roxton is bleeding from the shoulder. Marguerite tries to put pressure on the wound.]
Marguerite: If he doesn’t see a doctor he is going to bleed to death.
Grey: And we can save a piece of rope.
Roxton: [to Marguerite] No it’s good it’s gone right through. It has to be cauterized; I need something hot enough to burn the flesh.
Marguerite: I demand you get a doctor right now!
Grey: You demand, you’re in no position to do anything but beg.
Marguerite: All right, all right [she slides to her knees] I’m begging you please don’t let him bleed to death.
Grey: How easily you grovel for the life of a worthless scoundrel. All right, give her what she wants. If you want this dog to swing beside you; you can treat the wound yourself.
Marguerite: What?
[Scene: The fissure]
Veronica: They were here all right. Went in but haven’t come back out.
Challenger: Maybe they’re on their way back.
Veronica: That woman came out here too. But no hoof prints leading back in.
Challenger: I wonder if Roxton and Marguerite ran into her.
[Scene: The cell – A poker is sitting in a bed of hot coals.]
Roxton: When it’s red hot you press it against the wound and you hold it there until it sears the blood vessels you understand?
Marguerite: I can’t do it.
Roxton: Come on it’s going to hurt me a lot more than it hurts you. That a girl.
[Marguerite gets the poker and hesitantly holds it over the wound.]
Marguerite: Oh no.
Roxton: Nothing to it.
Marguerite: I’m sorry.
Roxton: You know, I really think you mean that.
[Marguerite cauterizes the wound. Roxton is in great pain then passes out.]
Marguerite: You can thank me later.
[Scene: The fissure – Challenger, Veronica and Malone are going into the light in the cave.]
Veronica: That wasn’t here last time.
Challenger: Strange
Malone: What is it?
Challenger: Where is it coming from?
Veronica: What is that noise?
Challenger: Sounds like an atmospheric pressure differential.
[They come out the other side.]
Challenger: There must be mineral deposits in that rock – what brilliance.
Malone: The sun is reflecting off that cliff.
Veronica: Strange, I didn’t see that last time I was here.
Challenger: Maybe the cliff was in shadow.
Malone: Of course, because the angle of the sun’s ray changes as the earth orbits the sun.
Challenger: That’s right Malone. In fact, it’s likely that the sun only hits those rocks a few days every year.
Veronica: What’s going on? Everything’s different.
Malone: What about that village? Was that there last time?
Veronica: No
Challenger: No swamp, no dinosaurs and a village that wasn’t there before. How very intriguing.
[Scene: Challenger, Malone and Veronica enter the village.]
Veronica: None of this was here before.
Malone: That woman who robbed us must have come from here.
Challenger: Well that’s right, and she said she’d be gone forever in two days. It seems like two different planes of reality have been thrown together there boundaries fused by that incredible light.
Malone: For two days.
Challenger: Precisely, so when the sun stops shinning on that rock all this could poof just disappear.
Veronica: Just like Marguerite and Roxton. Where are they?
Malone: Maybe they popped in for a drink.
[They enter the tavern]
Challenger: No sign of them in here.
Grey: Welcome strangers. You look a little lost. I’m Edgar Grey Attorney, this is Sheriff Hyde.
Challenger: I’m pleased to meet you. I’m George Challenger - Ned Malone – Veronica.
Malone: Were looking for our friends a man and a woman.
Grey: Oh yes indeed. There has been a misunderstanding.
Challenger: Nothing serious I hope?
Grey: No...no...not at all, I’m afraid they just got a little rowdy and ended up in jail.
Veronica: No doubt Marguerite’s doing.
Grey: She’s indeed quite a woman. Why don’t we go down to the jail and sort all this out hmmm…please.
[They walk outside and are greeted by Sheriff Hyde and his henchmen pointing their weapons at them.]
Malone: What is this?
Sheriff Hyde: Hands on your heads. You three are under arrest.
Challenger: What the devil for?
Grey: If you are friends with that woman in jail it would mean you are part of her gang of bandits.
Malone: Marguerite is no outlaw.
Grey: The mask has been removed.
Veronica: You’re making a mistake.
Malone: We were robbed by the same woman.
Challenger: And she is still at large.
Grey: Lock them up. You will be put on trial with your friends in the morning.
Sheriff Hyde: I said move come on.
[Challenger, Malone and Veronica are being led to the jail.]
Malone: Look two nooses.
Veronica: I think we know who those are for.
Challenger: We won’t be much help to them if we’re all locked up together.
Malone: You saying we make a break for it now?
Challenger: If we can find the real bandit maybe we can sort this mess out.
Veronica: First we have to get out of here.
Challenger: That shouldn’t be too difficult [Challenger jumps up on a wooden bench and addresses the crowd in the village] Amazing! Just think about it two days ago none of this was here! Just a swamp full of frenzied vicious flesh eating dinosaurs!
Sheriff Hyde: Where are you going huh?
[Sheriff Hyde grabs Challenger’s shoulder who then swings around and punches Sheriff Hyde. A fight starts and Challenger, Malone and Veronica make a break for it. They run for the jungle.]
Veronica: Wait we can’t just leave Marguerite and Roxton here.
[Sheriff Hyde yells at his henchmen to go into the jungle to find Challenger, Malone and Veronica.]
Sheriff Hyde: Dead or alive don’t matter which!
Malone: Doesn’t look like we have much choice now.
Veronica: This way.
[Scene: The cell – Roxton is lying on the cot. Marguerite is sitting on the floor beside him.]
Roxton: You know I was dreaming. You were feeding me grapes on the banks of a stream.
Marguerite: It’s what we should have done.
Roxton: You saved my life.
Marguerite: You promised to save me from the hangman.
Roxton: Is that the only reason?
Marguerite: No
[Marguerite and Roxton kiss]
Roxton: I should get shot more often.
Marguerite: Not till you get us out of here.
Roxton: I really must be dreaming.
[Scene: The jungle]
Veronica: We’ve got to lose them or take them out before we hit open ground again.
Challenger: You mean before we make our run for the fissure?
Malone: How about a little ambush?
Veronica: Good idea.
[The henchmen catch up to Challenger who’s alone.]
Henchmen: There he is.
Challenger: I give up. I’m beat sure is lonely down here.
[Malone and Veronica jump from the trees and ambush the henchmen.]
Challenger: Nice work you two. Let’s go.
[They grab the henchmen’s weapons. The make their way to the fissure and enter the cave.]
[Scene: Nighttime - The cell. Roxton is up and about.]
Roxton: Time to get out of here.
Marguerite: It’s good to see you’re feeling better, any ideas?
Roxton: I was hoping this part of the dream would just disappear.
Grey: It will do that all by itself. By sundown tomorrow whatever lies beyond the fissure will have disappeared forever.
Roxton: What are you talking about?
Grey: For two days each year. Two different worlds are brought together by some freak of nature. But when the earth is moved a little and the sun no longer hits that cluster of sparkling rocks then everything returns to normal.
Marguerite: What exactly is normal to you?
Grey: Towns, farms, villages much like this one. Ignorant peasants going about their daily lives secure in the knowledge that people like me are watching over them - keeping order.
Marguerite: Normal sounds pretty horrible to me.
Grey: Small villages like this have been your stock and trade.
Marguerite: I wouldn’t waist my time in a place like this.
Roxton: I’m with you. I prefer the dinosaurs and savages on the other side.
Grey: Sounds horrifying.
Roxton: You’ve never seen it?
Grey: Last year was a frozen wasteland the year before a desert, every year something different.
Marguerite: You have to let us go. You know we haven’t committed any crimes.
Grey: But I don’t know that at all. You keep pretending that you don’t know anything but why should I believe you? Flaunting your ill gotten gains in my tavern I should have hanged you on the spot. But we’re not savages yet.
Marguerite: No you haven’t evolved quite that far yet.
Roxton: The woman you’re looking for is still out there.
Grey: Maybe you’re right but it doesn’t matter.
Marguerite: What?
Grey: Well the Masked Bandit is a prize catch if you’re not her you’ll have to do. The good people of this village want a hanging and I am just their humble servant. My hands are tied.
[Fade Out]
[Scene: Morning - The village. Roxton and Marguerite are led out to their trial.]
Marguerite: I wonder where the others are.
Roxton: I certainly wouldn’t be disappointed to see them right about now.
Marguerite: Maybe they couldn’t find the fissure.
Roxton: I’m sorry we found it.
[Scene: The jungle]
Challenger: If we don’t catch this woman soon we’re going to have to go back without her.
Veronica: How far do you think she’ll ride before she gives her horse a rest?
Malone: Depends on how cool she is and how bad she wants to get away.
Challenger: Let’s hope she likes her horse more than she likes people; otherwise we’re never going to catch her.
[They stop when they hear a noise.]
Veronica: Wait – Raptor.
[They see the bandit not too far off. The bandit is trying to learn how to load a bullet into Challenger’s rifle. Her horse whinnies and she is startled by a Raptor jumping from behind the trees. The horse runs off and the bandit throws away Challenge’s rifle because she doesn’t know how to use it.]
Bandit: Useless piece of junk.
[She picks up her sword to fight off the Raptor. Challenger fires his pistol to get the Raptor’s attention.]
Challenger: Come on over here my beauty! Over here!
[Malone gets by the Raptor and grabs the rifle the bandit discarded and he shoots the Raptor.]
Bandit: Thank you very much. How did you do that?
Malone: It’s a little more sophisticated than your flintlock.
Bandit: Can I see it.
Veronica: Ah ah.
Malone: Nice try - this end only.
Challenger: We’ve come to take you back.
Veronica: Yes, your friends in the village are waiting.
Bandit: I can’t go back there, Grey will hang me.
Malone: Maybe you deserve it.
[The bandit tries to run away but is caught by Veronica.]
Veronica: Much more than our friends do.
[Scene: The village. The trial has begun.]
Grey: Hidden behind a cowards mask she takes the bread from our mouths and fills our hearts and souls with fear. Who knows how many have been the victim of this dangerous woman. Your honor I urge you to listen to the people, the innocent people and put an end to this reign of terror. The Masked Bandit and her accomplice must die.
[The crowd is swayed by Grey’s words.]
Roxton: Oh it’s all over before any of the evidence is even presented.
Marguerite: You know I think that’s the general idea.
[Scene: The jungle]
Bandit: You can’t honestly expect me to go back there and to turn myself in for a complete stranger.
Malone: You know it’s the right thing to do.
Bandit: I stopped doing the right think a long time ago. Around the time Edgar Grey cheated me out of my tavern.
Challenger: You used to own the tavern?
Bandit: My husband and I, until Grey killed him. Shot him in the back outside the tavern. Then he asked me to marry him all he really wanted was the tavern.
Malone: You didn’t want to sell it to him.
Bandit: No, so he cut off my supplies I went broke and he took it over anyway.
Veronica: That doesn’t justify a life of crime.
Bandit: Oh I don’t know he took from me a good deal more than I’ve ever taken from him.
Veronica: And others, now it’s time for an even trade. Let’s go.
[Scene: The village]
Judge: It is the verdict of this court that this woman is the Masked Bandit and therefore guilty of all crimes. The penalty is death by hanging to be carried out immediately.
Marguerite: I guess this is a good time to appeal the verdict.
Sheriff Hyde: This is the part we’ve all been waiting for.
[Roxton and Marguerite are shoved by the henchmen to the noose.]
Marguerite: You’re a fool Edgar you know I’m not the woman that you’re looking for. If you execute us you’ll never learn about our secret.
Grey: You have a minute tell me now.
Marguerite: On the other side of the fissure we have found precious gems beyond your wildest imagination. Would you like to see some?
Grey: I suppose the good citizens can wait a moment longer. Take him back to the cell.
Marguerite: Don’t worry; I won’t leave you for the hangman.
Grey: Yes you will.
[Grey leads Marguerite to the tavern.]
Marguerite: Good I’ll have a martini extra dry with a twist of lemon.
Grey: Sit down! Show me these gems.
[Marguerite pulls out a small pouch and shows him the gems.]
Marguerite: These are just tiny samples of what you will find in great abundance.
Grey: Give them to me.
Marguerite: A short excursion through the fissure just a few hours away and you could be a very wealthy man.
Grey: The three gems you are holding in your hand could make me wealthy enough getting them I think would be a lot easier.
Marguerite: There are many places I could lose them between here and the gallows.
[Grey points his gun at Marguerite.]
Grey: I could take them now.
Marguerite: Only by killing me, and then you wouldn’t get to hang me in front of all your people.
Grey: You know it is unfortunate we had to meet this way. You and I are very much alike I think.
[Scene: The jungle]
Bandit: You know if you’re not out of this valley by sundown you could be stuck here forever.
Challenger: We’ll be long gone by then.
Bandit: Do you honestly think Edgar Grey is going to let your friends go.
Malone: Why wouldn’t he it’s you he’s after.
Bandit: You clearly don’t know him well enough. He keeps the villagers in the dark about the fissure and he has a habit of hanging uninvited visitors.
Veronica: We’ll find out for ourselves soon enough.
[Scene: The cell – Roxton is locked up with a guard sleeping outside the cell. Roxton is able to pick the lock to the cell. He knocks out the guard with an empty pitcher. He unlocks the chains around his ankles and takes the guard’s weapon. The Sheriff spots Roxton getting away. Roxton is able to evade being shot at but when he goes to fire the gun he took from the guard it doesn’t go off.]
Roxton: Damn I forgot the gunpowder.
[Roxton is able to ward off the henchmen and runs from the village. Grey hears the ruckus from inside the tavern]
Marguerite: I’m sure it’s nothing – thunder.
Grey: Quiet!
Sheriff Hyde: The prisoner has escaped Mr. Grey.
Grey: You created this little ruse to give your friend a chance to escape.
Marguerite: Now why would I help him and not myself?
Grey: So that he would come back and help you. There’s no chance of that now. We’ll hang her now.
[Grey pulls Marguerite to the hangman who is getting the noose ready.]
Marguerite: Think of the future we could have together.
Grey: Until I turn my back and then you’ll put a knife in it.
Marguerite: You can’t do this.
[The hangman puts the noose around Marguerite’s neck.]
Grey: Someone has to hang and we mustn’t disappoint all of these people. Any last words?
Marguerite: Damn you Roxton.
[Roxton whispers in Marguerite’s ear – he’s in the hangman’s costume.]
Roxton: Careful Marguerite it’s not too late to change my mind.
Grey: Goodbye whoever you are.
[A shot is fired]
Sheriff Hyde: What the hell is this?
[Challenger, Malone and Veronica lead the Bandit into the village.]
Malone: Looks like we arrived just in time.
Marguerite: Better late than never.
Bandit: This is madness he’ll kill us all.
Veronica: No, keep walking.
Challenger: Where’s Roxton?
Grey: What do you want?
Veronica: This woman is the Masked Bandit.
[The Bandit makes a run for it, Veronica goes after her.]
Challenger: After her quickly I’ll get Marguerite.
[Challenger fights the henchmen.]
Grey: [to the hangman] Hang her!
Roxton: [taking off the hood] Sorry, not today.
[Roxton fights Grey. Veronica and Malone catch up to the Bandit in the tavern.]
Veronica: Couldn’t leave without stealing something could you?
Bandit: I need a weapon.
Veronica: No you don’t.
[Roxton goes to take a swing at Grey but Marguerite steps in and takes a swing at Grey herself knocking him to the ground.]
Marguerite: Really wasn’t his day was it?
[Fires are shot into the tavern barely missing Malone]
Veronica: How are we going to help the others?
Malone: I don’t’ know.
Challenger: Come on let’s get out of here.
[Roxton takes his Webley’s back and kicks the Sheriff.]
Roxton: Did you learn your lesson Sheriff.
Grey: I want them all!
Marguerite: Where are the others?
Challenger: Make for the tavern.
Marguerite: Now is not the time to stop for a drink.
Roxton: Nor is it time to have only one gun. I’ll keep you covered – go!
[They make a run for the tavern]
Challenger: Open the door.
Roxton: Barricade the door.
Veronica: We’ve got to find a way out of here.
Challenger: And quickly sundown is rapidly approaching.
[Marguerite slaps the Bandit.]
Marguerite: It’s you they want.
Roxton: Take it easy the fight’s outside!
Veronica: That’s enough!
[Veronica pulls Marguerite off of the Bandit.]
Marguerite: We could be stuck here for ever because of you!
Bandit: You got here all by yourself.
Challenger: Now this is not solving anything. This woman does not deserve to be hanged any more than you do. Let’s work together on this thing huh.
Bandit: We can get out through the roof.
Sheriff Hyde: What do we do Edgar?
Grey: Kill them all. Surround the place – burn it down!
Sheriff Hyde: You heard him get going! Get some torches!
[The group see the henchmen with torches.]
Malone: Looks like they’re going to try to burn us out.
Roxton: More like burn us alive.
Bandit: Come on let’s go.
Challenger: That might get us out of the building but we need some kind of diversion to get us out of the village.
Bandit: I’ll turn myself in. That should give you time to get away.
Marguerite: Wait, I’ve got a better idea.
Grey: Light it up.
Bandit’s voice: Edgar it’s me I want to come out.
Sheriff Hyde: Smells like a trap.
Grey: Why do you want to come out?
Bandit’s voice: Let the others go it’s me you want.
Sheriff Hyde: Don’t listen to her.
Grey: Shut up! Tell the men to hold off.
Sheriff Hyde: Wait
Grey: Come out!
[Marguerite walks out dressed as the Masked Bandit.]
Marguerite: Let the others go.
Grey: You’re in no position to bargain.
[She holds up a gem]
Marguerite: What about now?
Grey: How did you get those?
Marguerite: I’m a bandit remember forced into a life of crime because if you.
[The group makes their way out of the tavern from the roof.]
Roxton: Come on Challenger let’s not dawdle.
Grey: You give me the gems.
Marguerite: As soon as you let the others go.
Grey: Well that’s not going to happen now. [Grey grabs Marguerite] Burn it down! [The henchmen throw the torches into the tavern.] Now let’s take off that mask hmmm.
[Marguerite gets loose from Grey grabbing Roxton’s Webley and points it at Grey taking off her mask.]
Marguerite: If you insist. [to Sheriff Hyde] Drop it.
Grey: You’re not the Bandit.
Marguerite: Oh but I am you were right all along. And as you have made others suffer so too shall you. [Marguerite knocks Grey to the ground and whistles for the horse.] I’ll be back.
[Marguerite rides off.]
Grey: Damn [Grey watches his tavern burn]
[Epilogue]
[Scene: The jungle]
Veronica: Where is she?
Roxton: She’ll be here.
Challenger: I hope so because we’re running out of time.
[Marguerite rides up.]
Roxton: Not a moment too soon.
Marguerite: You should have seen his face.
Malone: Do you think he fell for it?
Marguerite: I’m sure he did. Your identity is still a secret.
Bandit: I don’t know how to thank you.
Marguerite: Keep robbing Edgar it’s the least you can do for our mutual friend.
Veronica: Come on we have to hurry.
Marguerite: What about your clothes?
Bandit: Keep them they suit you.
Challenger: Time to go. Come on sun’s setting.
Marguerite: Good luck.
Bandit: Thank you.
[Marguerite gives the Bandit the pouch of gems.]
Roxton: Travel safe.
Bandit: I will.
[The group goes to the fissure and enters the cave.]
Veronica: She was quite a woman.
Roxton: That she was. But let’s not forget who got us out of that little jam.
Challenger: Quite right without Marguerite we might still be living back there.
Malone: I think we owe you a debt of gratitude.
Marguerite: I never thought I’d live to hear it.
[The entrance to the cave closes up the group hears the growls of the dinosaurs.]
Challenger: Sounds like everything’s back to normal.
Marguerite: Yes, well normal sounds horrible to me.
