Transcript for “Tourist Season” Episode 2x03 Originally Aired: 10/21/00 Writer: Guy Mullally Director: Richard Franklin & Darryl Sheen Transcribed by Carol Murdock for "TWIZ TV.COM" - www.twiztv.com Feedback: murdockcarol@twiztv.com [Scene: Challenger and Roxton are working on the windmill.] Roxton: Well it looks impressive Challenger but is it really going to work? Challenger: Oh ye of little faith. You know Roxton the windmill is one of the oldest and most reliable ways of harnessing the incredible energy of nature. [Challenger flips a switch on the windmill and electricity crackles through the wires. Marguerite is sitting in the treehouse. The phonograph starts to play classical music. Malone and Veronica hear the music from where they are standing on the ground.] Veronica: Mozart Malone: Electricity [Scene: The windmill] Roxton: You’re bloody brilliant Challenger. Have I ever told you that? Challenger: Not as often as you should. [Marguerite, Veronica and Malone join them.] Marguerite: Does this mean we’ll soon have electric light at the treehouse? Roxton: As soon as we finish that high voltage fence we started last year. Malone: Finally a good night’s sleep. [The wind picks up. Thunder can be heard in the distance and the sky darkens.] Veronica: It looks like we’re in for a storm. Malone: Do you think this is strong enough to face the wind? Challenger: Small tropical storm’s nothing. [A ball of light comes from over the mountains toward the group.] Marguerite: What the hell is that? Challenger: The windmill’s created a vortex. I suggest everybody take cover immediately. [The group scatters and the ball of light hits the windmill head on.] **** Begin Intro**** At the dawn of the last century A band of explorers searched for a prehistoric world Driven by ambition Secret desires A thirst for adventure And seeking the ultimate story They are befriended by an untamed beauty Stranded in a strange and savage land Each day is a desperate search for a way out - of the Lost World ****End Intro**** [Scene: The storm has left as quickly as it came. The vanes of the windmill are destroyed.] Roxton: Everyone all right – Veronica, Challenger? Marguerite: Some small tropical storm. Malone: The storm, what happened to it? [A modern day helicopter flies comes over the rise.] Roxton: Look there. [Scene: A camp - scavengers see the helicopter.] Man: What is it? Elab: The smoking bird of Rintah. [Scene: The windmill] Marguerite: What is it? Challenger: Where the devil did that come from? [Roxton fires his rifle at it] Roxton don’t shoot it. It’s a gyroplane. Marguerite: Who cares where it came from maybe it can take us home. Don’t you crash don’t you dare crash. [Challenger, Marguerite, Roxton and Malone all rush toward the helicopter. Veronica stays behind.] Veronica: I’ll see you all back to the treehouse. [Scene: The scavenger’s camp – The men bow down before a pole with two half moons at the point.] Elab: Thank you Rintah. A day’s journey into these mountains and I will hold your greatness. [The Helicopter lands.] Challenger: Have you ever seen a machine like this? Malone: Well in France during the war they were experimenting with… Challenger: ….one man open cockpit death trap, but this. This is a real Helliplane, capable of vertical and horizontal motion and controlled at that. This is extraordinary. Marguerite: And beautiful. [A boy steps off the helicopter he has a video camera. Cooper the pilot opens the door for a man and woman.] Cooper: Are you all right? Phil: Yeah. [Phil helps his wife down] You couldn’t relax around the pool like everybody else. You have to charter a helicopter and go sightseeing. Barb: Just be grateful we’re still alive. Roxton: Tourists? Marguerite: Dressed like clowns. Cooper: Sorry to drop in on your valley like this but a little engine trouble; shouldn’t take much to fix it. Roxton: Take as long as you like. Malone: We’ll give you a hand. Challenger: We were beginning to lose hope of ever being found. Cooper: What do you mean? How long have you been lost? Marguerite: Longer than I care to think about. Why what’s the date today? Cooper: June 30th 2000. Phil: Where is the nearest jack? I have to plug in and get on the net. Marguerite: What year did you say it was? Phil: Two thousand, the new millennium. How long have you been here? Marguerite: Eighty years apparently. [Scene: The trail – the scavengers are making their way to where the helicopter landed.] Elab: I had a dream that I stand by the side of Rintah and all those who serve me live in glory. Man: There is no Rintah it’s just a hunk of metal on a stick. Have you ever seen Rintah? [other men shaking their head no.] Or heard his voice? But Elab has. Elab’s talking garbage. [Elab steps in front of the man.] Elab: Is that so? Man: Yes, smoking birds a waste of time. We should hunt for food women we can trade for weapons. Elab: Lead the way. [Elab stabs the man.] Renegade must die. Anyone else have something to say? Then let’s go, the smoking bird of Rintah awaits. [Scene: The windmill] Barb: Are you saying we’ve traveled back in time? Marguerite: If you really are from the twenty first century. Cooper: Is this proof enough for you? [He holds out some American coins.] Marguerite: That’s incredible Malone: Impossible Roxton: Take a look at the aircraft and the clothes. Malone: I know but how? Challenger: Don’t you see the storm; the lightning; the explosion. It’s what Professor Einstein would call a tear in the space time continuum. Rob: Just like a sci-fi film. Challenger: You people have just broken the time barrier. Phil: Give me a break. Barb: Where are we? Cooper: Who are you people? Challenger: I’m Professor George Challenger and these are my colleagues Lord John Roxton, Edward Malone and Marguerite Krux. Malone: We left London a year ago in 1919. Rob: Sweet Phil: No Rob it is not sweet and you sir are out of your mind, you all are. Now look we’ve got to get back to the hotel. Marguerite: Hotel sounds nice lead the way. Phil: I intent to. [He dials his cell phone] Marguerite: What’s that? Phil: It’s a telephone. Help will be here any minute. Barb: What’s the matter? Is the auto club busy the GPS not working? Cooper: I don’t get it man. If this is 1920 where are we? Challenger: This is an uncharted land. It’s a museum of natural histories and ancient civilizations. Marguerite: It’s where dinosaurs still rule. Rob: Dinosaurs bonus! Phil: Oh Rob there are no dinosaurs. Cooper: Every inch of the world has been mapped by satellite. Roxton: Satellite? Cooper: Space craft that circle the earth taking pictures of everything. Challenger: Satellites just as Edward Hale predicted. Roxton: Well they must have missed a few places. [A roar comes from the distance.] Malone: Sounds like raptors. [Two raptors jump from the bush. Rob records them as they get closer. The group fire on the raptors. Back at the treehouse, Veronica hears the shots and goes running.] Roxton: Don’t panic stick together and head for those trees. [The other run while Rob continues to record as the raptors get closer.] Rob: Mom! Dad! Barb: Rob! Phil: Where is he? Barb: Rob! [Rob falls down, the raptor goes in for the kill. Veronica comes from behind and throws her knife hitting the raptor in the neck.] Barb: Rob! [Veronica approaches Rob still on the ground.] Rob: Me Tarzan you Jane. [Veronica helps Rob up.] Veronica: Well it’s nice to meet you Tarzan but my names Veronica. Another stunt like that and you’re going to be lunch. [Scene: The treehouse. Challenger is fiddling with a miniature windmill.] Phil: So how do we get out of this nightmare? Challenger: Duplicate the conditions that brought you here. Fix the windmill repair the helicopter and hope we can generate another ball of lightning. Malone: And what are the odds of that? Phil: We’re doomed. Challenger: I am open to other suggestions. Marguerite: I have one. Before we all start dashing about in time, as exciting as that may be, perhaps we should try for something a little less ambitious. Roxton: Such as? Marguerite: Fix the helicopter and fly one of us off a plateau. I can send help back for the rest of you Malone: It’s not a bad idea. Roxton: Except for the obvious choice of passenger. Phil: Wait…wait just a minute - what about us? What if the helicopter gets lost or can’t make it back here? Marguerite: What if you get killed trying to break the time barrier? Challenger: You’re the pilot Mr. Cooper what’s your opinion? Cooper: I’d like to help you people but were low on fuel so we don’t have many options. My first obligation is to my passengers. To get them home safely. [Fade Out] [Scene: Nighttime the treehouse. Rob is playing back the recording for Veronica when she saved him.] Veronica: That’s fantastic Rob: Sure is. Veronica: I mean the moving pictures. My father said it’s the most incredible invention he’d ever seen. Rob: Yeah well this is video - even better. Wanna try it? Veronica: What do I do? Rob: Okay - look at the screen and press this button. Veronica: Okay. This is great! Do something. Rob: Like what? Veronica: I don’t know anything. [Rob makes funny faces at the recorder.] Okay how do I see it? Rob: Press the rewind button right here and hit play. [Scene: Morning – Marguerite meets Roxton at the base of the treehouse.] Roxton: Trouble getting out of bed? Marguerite: Trouble understanding our priorities. Tell me again why we’re helping these people? Roxton: It’s their helicopter for starters. Malone: And it could be our only way of ever getting out of here. Roxton: Then we’ll find another way. Marguerite: A bird in the hand Roxton, remember. [Scene: Rob and Veronica are by the stream playing Frisbee.] Rob: Are you sure you never played this before? Veronica: It’s a bit like throwing a discus. [Elab is watching the two from the bushes.] Rob: Ah damn I’m baked. Elab: Very tasty. Veronica: Baked – raw raptors aren’t fussy. [Rob nervously takes a look around.] It’s okay I’ve been keeping my eyes open. Rob: I keep forgetting, this place is just so cool Veronica: Are you cold? Rob: No, cool means great or amazing; like you being from 1920. Veronica: Or you, being from the future. [Veronica pauses to listen to the jungle.] Rob: What is it? Veronica: It’s too quiet. Rob: Raptors? Veronica: Raptors make noise. [They leave the steam. Elab follows. Veronica climbs a tree to get a better look. She sees Elab running. She swings on a vine to the ground. She pulls her knife. Rob runs up behind her.] Rob: What was it? Veronica: A man. Rob: What? There are other people here too? Veronica: Lots and not all of them are friendly. Come on. [Scene: The helicopter. Challenger, Cooper and Malone are checking things out.] Challenger: So what happened? Cooper: There was this blinding flash of light; the instruments went dead and the engine almost quit - which could’ve been fatal. I mean these things aren’t like airplanes man. The engine stalls and they drop. Challenger: Yes of course the greatest obstacle to the helicopter was creating enough vertical lift for it to raise its own weight and Leonardo da Vinci knew that. Cooper: That’s right but it took Igor Sikorsky to perfect vertical and forward flight. Challenger: A Russian. Cooper: No no and American immigrant – in 1930. Challenger: Ten years from now. You remember I told Summerlee this would happen. Cooper: Since then it’s been one leap in technology after another. In 1969 we’ll put a man on the moon. These days, modern aircraft can pretty much fly themselves. Challenger: All controlled by a central electric brain? Cooper: That’s right – the computer; the greatest invention since the printing press. Challenger: What a world you live in. Cooper: Yeah maybe, but it’s nothing compared to breaking the time barrier. Man you’d be famous beyond belief in the twenty first century. Challenger: A short visit would be fantastic I’m sure, but to stay would be cheating destiny. Cooper: What? You’d rather stay here? Challenger: No, my future lies back in London at the end of this great expedition; when I announce our incredible discoveries to the world. Cooper: That’s funny I’ve never heard of you – any of you. Challenger: But surely you must have learned of this expedition at school? Malone: Read about it in books? Cooper: No not a word - I’m sorry. [Scene: The windmill] Marguerite: The pilot’s never heard of us. Malone: Never heard of us; never heard of the plateau; never heard of live dinosaurs. Roxton: Do you think that means we never get out of here? Marguerite: Isn’t that obvious? Roxton: No, these people say this place doesn’t even exist. What do they know? Don’t worry Challenger you’ll not be denied your place in history. Not while I’m alive. Marguerite: Why take the risk? Malone: What do you mean? Marguerite: What are the chances of them breaking the time barrier? Compared to our chances of flying out of here? Roxton: Marguerite Marguerite: It’s the law of the jungle Roxton - survival of the fittest. Challenger: This may be a jungle Marguerite but we are not savages. Roxton: Yes not all of us anyway. [Barb and Phil are by the Helicopter.] Phil: You act like you don’t care whether we get home are not. Barb: All I am saying is it’s better than Rob hanging out in the mall. Phil: Look this is not a family picnic Barb. We may be stuck here for the rest of our lives. Barb: With you? I would rather die. Challenger: Someone better go after her. [Roxton takes his rifle and follows Barb.] Roxton: Mrs. Dillon! [He catches up to her.] You’re in a hurry. Barb: I’m quite capable of taking care of myself thanks. It took a self defense course back in Chicago. Roxton: I’m sure the raptors will be terrified. [A spear lands in the tree in front of them. Elab and his scavengers approach.] Elab: Greetings neighbors, let’s talk some business. Roxton: Tell your men to throw down their weapons or you get the first bullet. [One of the scavengers knocks Roxton down. Roxton fights him off. He takes on four of the scavengers. Elab circles Roxton. Barb kicks the spear out of Elab’s hand and knees him in the head.] Roxton: Welcome to the party Mrs. Dillion. [Barb and Roxton fight the scavengers. One man holds Barb from behind – Elab stands in front of her. She spits in his face.] Elab: You’re quite the little savage. [Roxton fires a shot. Veronica and Rob hear the shot.] Veronica: It came from over there. [Marguerite grabs a rifle as she and Phil run toward the shot.] Marguerite: I’ll go! [Roxton points his rifle at Elab as the other scavengers holds Barb.] Roxton: One more time drop your weapons. Elab: An even trade, the woman for the smoking bird. Roxton: Your weapons or your life. [Elab throws his knife down.] Elab: We do it your way; the hard and ugly way. [The scavengers leave.] [Fade Out] [Scene: Roxton and Barb are walking back to the windmill.] Roxton: Do all the women in the future fight like you. Barb: More and more every day. Mainly because there are fewer and fewer men like you. Roxton: I’ll take that as a compliment. [Barb grabs on to Roxton as she slips. They go rolling down a hill. They land with Barb on top of Roxton.] Barb: That was more fun than a giant waterslide, very gallant of you to break my fall. Roxton: My pleasure I’m sure. [Phil and Marguerite find them on the ground.] Phil: What’s going on? Barb: Nothing’s going on; we slipped and fell. [Veronica and Rob approach.] Rob: What happened? Phil: Seems like your mother had a little accident. [Phil and Barb leave.] Marguerite: Need a hand? Roxton: I can manage. Marguerite: Extremely well by the looks of it. A woman of the future; quite a catch - very exotic. Roxton: And very married. Marguerite: Not very happily from all appearances. [Scene: The Helicopter.] Malone: Trouble? Roxton: A band of scavengers, they’re after the helicopter. Better keep a guard on it. Cooper: Why would scavengers want a helicopter? Challenger: They’ll worship it. Roxton: How’s it going? Cooper: The fuel pump is partially blocked. If I can get some of these instruments to work we could be in business. Challenger: Have you ever seen a set of tools like this? Roxton: No nothing like it where I come from. Challenger: The wonders of the 21st century. The more I consider it the more it peaks my scientific curiosity. Malone: You’re not thinking of abandoning the expedition are you, cheating your destiny? Challenger: My opinion hasn’t changed. But it is possible my destiny does lie in the future. [Scene: Nightime - the scavenger’s camp. The men are drinking. Elab sneaks up on them.] Elab: If I was your enemy you’d be dead. Man: We have problems. Elab: The smoking bird has been captured by the enemies of Rintah. Man: We don’t stand a chance against their guns. Elab: Not if we fight them in the open but Rintah has given me a plan. We need a hostage. [Scene: The treehouse – Barb is changing behind a screen. Veronica is sitting nearby.] Barb: All Phil ever thinks about work. I don’t know what he’s gonna do if we don’t get out of here. Veronica: At least you’re all together – that’s something. Barb: I guess so. Rob sure likes it here. He’s the reason we took this vacation in the first place. Veronica: Rob is very cool. Barb: Sounds to me like he’s been teaching use some modern slang. Veronica: It’s nice to have a friend. You and your husband should spend more time with him. [Scene: Outside – Rob is recording pterodactyls on his digital video recorder. Veronica is sitting next to him.] Rob: Awesome, this is totally out there. Veronica: My parents totally loved it here - especially my father. Rob: Your parents must be way cool, unlike mine. Veronica: They’re not so bad. Rob: Are you kidding? Sometimes I think if I never see them again will be too soon. Hey, where are your parents? Veronica: I don’t know. They were only supposed to be gone a few hours but something happened. And they never came back. Rob: Never? How old were you? Veronica: Ten Rob: And you’ve never found out what happened? Veronica: Someday I will. But if I ever had the chance to travel back in time; I’d never let them out of my sight again. [Scene: Roxton is gathering some palms for the windmill. Barb is standing by the pond] Barb: Hey Mr. Bodyguard, coming in? [she dives into the water.] Water’s beautiful. Roxton: I have to give these palm fronds back to the windmill. Barb: You can’t leave me by myself. It’s dangerous out here. Roxton: I’ll wait here. [She throws her wet top at him hitting him in the back.] Barb: I love a man with an iron will. [She throws her bottoms at him; which he catches.] Roxton: Yes [Barb giggles.] [Scene: The treehouse – Phil is sitting at the table looking at a large gem. Marguerite approaches.] Marguerite: Beautiful isn’t it? Phil: Incredible, do you know what this is worth? Marguerite: Precisely it’s never been appraised. Phil: A diamond this size in the year two thousand this would go for millions. Marguerite: That one belongs to Veronica. But the plateau is filled with precious stones. [She grabs a handful of larges gems from a sac nearby and lays them on the table.] Phil: Unbelievable, I’ve never seen stones this size before. These are worth a fortune. Marguerite: Enough to buy a ticket out of here? Phil: But the chopper only holds four people. Marguerite: That’s unfortunate, but which four? Phil: Who do you propose we leave behind? Marguerite: Well, your son seems to be having a good time. But I’m sure he’ll want to get back to his friends soon enough. Barb on the other hand… Phil: Barb would never agree to stay behind. Marguerite: Are you sure about that? Do you know where she is right now? Phil: Where is she? Marguerite: Last I saw [Marguerite goes over to the telescope and looks through to see Roxton and Barb by the pond.] Yes there she is. [She steps aside to let Phil look. He sees Roxton twirling Barbs wet top in his hands.] Phil: Is she out of her mind? [He walks away angrily from a smiling Marguerite.] [Scene: The jungle – Veronica and Robb are walking when she stops and sniffs the air.] Veronica: Someone’s cooking. [They crouch down and observe Elab and his men worshipping Rintah.] Elab: One hostage, just one hostage. Rintah will guide us. Men: Hail Rintah! Elab: Rintah Men: He will lead us. Guide us. Praise thee to Rintah. [Veronica and Robb leave.] [Scene: The pond – Barb is putting on Roxton’s shirt.] Barb: Well thank you kind sir. Even if you were afraid to get your feet wet. Roxton: Oh I’ve seen the future more than that I can’t imagine. [Phil and Marguerite approach.] Phil: What happened this time; your bathing suit fall off? Barb: I went for a swim. Phil: Yeah, you were naked. Barb: Oh you noticed, how amazing. Phil: Where’s your sense of decency and self respect? Roxton: Now wait just a minute here. [Phil punches Roxton.] Phil: Stay out of this. Barb: No, you stay out of it. Why don’t you go back to your precious little job in Chicago. Robb and I can stay right here. [Barb stomps off. Phil glares at Roxton.] Phil: This is all your fault. [He runs after his wife.] Barb! Barb! [Marguerite stands next to Roxton laughing at the turn of events.] Roxton: Oh you’re good, very very good. Marguerite: There could be room for you too. [Scene: Veronica and Rob are running toward the treehouse.] Veronica: You go on up I’ll go warn the others. [Veronica takes off running toward the windmill. Rob hears rustling in the bush and with his camcorder tapes an apeman. Elab comes up behind Rob and covers his mouth.] Elab: One sound and it’s all over. [Elab drags Rob away and Rob drops the camcorder. The camcorder records the scavengers taking Rob away.] [Scene: The treehouse – Roxton, Marguerite, Veronica, Phil and Barb are viewing the camcorder.] Phil: Where is this guy? Barb: What’s he gonna do to our son? Roxton: Try to trade him for the helicopter I would imagine. Marguerite: That’s what he really wants. Barb: Oh my God what are we gonna do? Veronica: I’ll find him. Roxton: I’ll go with you. Phil: We’re coming to. Roxton: You better get back to the windmill to warn the others Marguerite: Be careful. Roxton: Oh you also, and fire two shots at the first sign of trouble. I’ll do the same. Marguerite: Got it. [Scene: Scavengr’s camp. Rob’s hands are bound to a pole.] Rob: How about some water? [Elab takes a cup of water and throws it in Rob’s face.] Elab: How about that? Rob: You’re a real comedian. Elab: And you’re alive because I’m going to trade you for the smoking bird. That doesn’t stop me roughing you up a little. Rob: What are you going to do with a helicopter anyway? Elab: The smoking bird is a gift to me from Rintah. My men will carry it with pride. Rob: Carry it? It’s a helicopter – it flies. Elab: It can go up again? Rob: Yeah like a bird up and down tweet tweet. [Elab agitated, puts a knife to Rob’s throat.] Elab: Laugh at me I’ll slit your throat. Do you understand? [Scene: The windmill. The palm fronds are in place on the windmill.] Marguerite: Looks good better than the first one in fact. Now all we need is a storm. Malone: And the rest of the tourists. Challenger: The helicopter doesn’t leave without them. Marguerite: No of course not…right Dave? I bet you’ve got family back home. But you don’t mind missing the next storm do you? Malone: Forget it Marguerite, the helicopter leaves with exactly the same people it came here with. Marguerite: Is that how you feel George? Challenger: Malone’s right. Marguerite: You’re sure? We’ll talk again when the wind starts blowing. [Scene: The trail to the scavenger’s camp.] Veronica: It looks like they’re heading back to where Rob and I saw them. Just over that hill. [Veronica motions for them to hold back. They hear growls from jungle.] Phil: Why are we stopping? Roxton: Shhh listen. [They see two raptors feeding on a third] Barb: Oh my God. [They come on the camp and watch the scavengers from a distance.] Barb: There he is. Elab: Rintah sent the smoking bird to me. The bird can fly and only I can fly it. Rob: You need a pilot. Elab: I need the smoking bird. [Elab pushes Rob and he falls to the ground. Phil moves to go to his son but Roxton holds him back.] Roxton: Hey, keep your head. There are far too many for heroics. Phil: But we’ve got guns. Roxton: And they’ll kill your son long before we get to him. [Fade Out] Veronica: We need a plan. [Phil slowly creeps behind moving away for the group.] [Scene: The windmill. Malone is making adjustments to the windmill with Marguerite standing nearby.] Marguerite: Are you worried about Veronica? Malone: I am worried about all of them, aren’t you? Marguerite: No, if they were in trouble we would have heard. Two gunshots remember. Malone: As if they were close enough for us to hear them. Marguerite: They’ll be fine. [The windmill starts to turn slowly.] Looks like we’re in luck. Cooper: How long are we supposed to wait? Challenger: Oh there’ll be another storm. Marguerite: When? Don’t your charts say we’re headed out of the stormy season; it could be another year. Cooper: If this animal wanted to bargain for the chopper where is he? Challenger: I don’t know. Cooper: Maybe they’re all dead. Malone: They’re not dead. Cooper: The helicopter holds four; there’s four of us. Malone: You can’t leave them here. Marguerite: This could be the only chance we ever get to save ourselves. [Scene: Scavenger’s camp.] Roxton: Phil and I have to be in position before you and Barb make your move. Veronica: Right. Ready Barb? Roxton: Ready Phil? Phil? Barb: Where is he? [Phil walks into the scavenger’s camp.] Phil: I’m the one you’re looking for. Roxton: Damn fool. Elab: Who are you? Phil: I can show you how to fly the helicopter. Barb: He doesn’t know anything about flying helicopters. He’s just trying to save Rob. Phil: Let the boy go free. I’ll take you anywhere you want to go. Rob: Dad what are you doing? Run! Elab: Family reunion, now I really have something to bargain with. Thank you Rintah. [The scavengers cheer] [Both Phil and Rob are tied up and tethered to a pole. They are on their knees.] Phil: You okay? Rob: Yeah you? Phil: Yeah just stay in front of me. I’ll get us out of here in no time. [Phil pulls out his wallet from his back pocket.] Rob: Gee dad I don’t think they take credit cards. Phil: Rob [Phil pulls out a small retractable knife from his wallet. Rob smiles.] Rob: Don’t leave home without it. [Elab approaches.] Elab: Is this a private conversation? [Elab kicks Phil and he falls back. Rob stands up and faces Elab.] Rob: We were just talking about teaching you to fly. Someone as smart as you could learn real fast. Elab: To bad you can’t. [Elab punches Rob in the face.] Phil: Leave him alone. [Elab grabs the tether and pulls Phil around then punches him; pinning him to the ground.] Elab: Remember I only need one hostage dad. Roxton: Okay I need a couple of minutes. You think you can keep his attention that long? Veronica: It will be my pleasure. [Veronica moves toward the camp and Roxton moves in the opposite direction.] [Scene: The windmill – The windmill is starting to spin faster.] Cooper: The wind is really picking up. Marguerite: Remember how fast the last storm blew in. We better get going. Malone: We? Marguerite: That’s right. Well what’s it gonna be George? The dizzing heights of international fame in the next century or the forgotten man of nineteen twenty. Challenger: Now Marguerite. [Marguerite walks over to the helicopter. Malone pulls a cable from helicopter.] Cooper: What are your doing? Malone: We’re going to wait another hour. Cooper: An hour will be too late. Marguerite: If we miss this storm… Malone: Another hour Marguerite. [Scene: The jungle – Roxton sneaks up on the two raptors feeding.] Roxton: Hey over here! [The raptors turn and notice Roxton. Roxton runs.] Nice Dino. [The raptors chase after Roxton.] Oh boy. [Scene: Scavenger’s camp – Veronica approaches Elab.] Veronica: Hey handsome, how about you and I arm wrestle for those hostages? Elab: Thank you Rintah. Veronica: I win the hostages go free. Elab: And when you lose? Veronica: Well then you’ll have three hostages. [Veronica and Elab fight while the scavengers cheer their leader on. Phil takes the opportunity to start cutting Rob’s ropes with his knife.] Rob: Come on dad. [Rob gets free and jumps on Elab’s back. Veronica uses the distraction to knock Elab down. Barb cuts Phil’s ropes and frees him. The all run out of camp. Roxton enters with the raptors close on his heels. The scavengers scatter from camp. Elab charges Roxton but Roxton points his rifle at Elab.] Roxton: Not so fast. [Roxton knocks Elab down with the butt of his rifle. One of the scavengers helps Elab from the ground but a raptor approaches and Elab pushes the scavenger into its path. The raptors attack the scavengers.] [Scene: The windmill] Malone: I’m telling you that was gun fire. Marguerite: It was thunder. Cooper: It doesn’t matter times up. [Cooper takes the cable from Malone’s grasp. Marguerite opens the door to the helicopter.] Marguerite: Coming George? Challenger: Marguerite you can’t just abandon these people and steal their lives. [Scene: The trail back to the windmill.] Roxton: Looks like we’re in for a storm. Veronica: I hope Challenger has everything ready to go. Are you ready? Phil: I’ve been such a jerk. Barb: You’re not the only one. Rob: Finally you agree on something. Roxton: Come on let’s keep moving. Phil: Come on let’s go. Hurry up Rob. Veronica: Their not so bad. [Scene: The windmill. Cooper is firing up the helicopter. ] Marguerite: Tell Roxton not to worry. [Marguerite moves toward the helicopter.] Challenger: Marguerite don’t do it. Malone: You can’t. Marguerite: Goodbye Ned, goodbye Challenger. [Marguerite gets in the helicopter. Barb, Rob, Phil, Roxton and Veronica approach. ] Malone: Look! Stop! [Challenger and Malone run to the helicopter and Challenger opens the door.] Marguerite: They made it their back. [Marguerite gets out of the helicopter.] Roxton: Looks like we’re just in time. Marguerite: We were getting worried. Looks like everybody made it I see. Roxton: One big happy family. [Barb gives Roxton a goodbye kiss on the cheek.] Barb: Thanks for being a man of honor. Roxton: Next time you may not get off so easily. Challenger: [To Cooper] You better get going. Veronica: [To Rob] You take care of those cool movies. [Cooper is unloading things from the back of the helicopter.] Challenger: What are you doing? Cooper: We’re only going to get one chance we don’t need it. Challenger: Well that’s very generous of you. Cooper: Anyway it makes us a little bit lighter. If we’re less than half the fuel we started out with, we may have room for one more person. Malone: None of this would have been possible if it wasn’t for you Challenger. Veronica: Think what you could do in the twenty first century. Roxton: Don’t worry about us Challenger. If we find a way back we’ll tell all what you’ve accomplished here. Marguerite: And you’ll find a way to come back and get us, right? [The storm starts to pick up. Challenger looks at his friends than at Cooper.] Challenger: The lighter you are the better. You’ll need all the speed you can get when you see the lightning. Stay in front of it and give it all you’ve got. Good luck and God speed. [Challenger shuts the helicopter door and runs to his friends. The helicopter takes off the the sky gets black.] Rob: Do you really think we’ll get back to the twenty first century? Barb: Don’t worry we’ll get you home safely.
