[Scene: The jungle - A band of raiders are attacking a village]

Drakul: Now!

[Drakul and his raiders bomb a village using a catapult. A huge explosion
and black smoke shoots 20 ft into the air. You hear screaming then
silence.]

Thane (not seen): Are there any left alive? I’ve got to check the last hut.
Check the perimeter. Don’t leave anything behind.

[Drakul walks among the dead. He walks over to a woman and tears a necklace
from around her neck.]

Thane: The cart is loaded!

Drakul: The raptors will feed well tonight.

Thane: The men are ready father.

Drakul: Restless are they? Blood begets blood.

Thane: The scouts say another village lies three days over the far hills.

Drakul: Then we’re off again, side by side. Come.

[The raiders prepare to leave]

Thane: Father, listen.

[Drakul hears a rider on horseback approaching]

Drakul: Arms!

[The raiders arm themselves with crossbows and position themselves at the
entrance of the village. Tribune approaches on horseback]

Tribune: Very impressive.

[The raiders lower their weapons and let Tribune pass. He surveys the
damage]

Tribune: Which is more than I can say for this. Drrrraaaakul.

Drakul: We were to meet at camp.

Tribune: I was distracted. You were making enough noise and smoke to draw
every tribe from miles around.

Drakul: For those who will not yield must be destroyed.

Tribune: I did not give you the secret of the powder for this.

Thane: We have their treasure.

Tribune: Mere trinkets. These men and women would have been useful, slaves
to rebuild the empire.

Drakul: Enough of your fantasy. You speak of politics while I speak of
glory.

Thane: The world will fear and respect us.

Tribune: And what good is a world of ashes? I was a fool to align myself
with a mere ape.

Drakul: We’ll discuss this later, back at camp. Why not dismount Tribune?
We’ll share some wine before we depart.

Tribune: Perhaps another time. I feel a certain chill in the air.

[Tribune rides out of the village. A raiders fires his crossbow and hits
Tribune in the right shoulder]

Thane: I’ll finish him.

Drakul: No! We must make camp by nightfall.

Thane: But he lives!

Drakul: He leaves a blood trail. The jungle will swallow him. Let the
lizard run. I still have the powder.

[Scene: Nighttime the treehouse - Marguerite holds a piece of parchment she
walks across the room toward Challenger and places the paper on a table]

Marguerite: We’re willing to risk out lives based on this, a few readings
from a rusty old barometer?

Roxton: Will you simmer down and let them speak their peace.

Challenger: As I was saying, Summerlee and I have been studying the weather
patterns on the plateau.

Summerlee: The strong updrafts that stranded us here seem to be abating.

Veronica: You actually think you can sail your way down off the plateau, in
the balloon?

Challenger: Well, we have to try. There’s only a window of a couple of
days.

Summerlee: And there may not be another one for a whole year.

Marguerite: Need I remind everyone we were almost shredded to bits by those
updrafts once before.

Roxton: We survived. We made it.

Marguerite: Why tempt fate? There’s got to be another way?

Malone: It’s been six months and we haven’t found it yet.

Roxton: Come on people! Life’s a risk, especially here. What with
dinosaurs, predators, ape-men I say we give it a shot.

Summerlee: Good man.

Malone: Bumpy ride is a small price to pay for a chance to see home again.

Challenger: That’s the way……Marguerite?

Marguerite: First sign of danger.

Challenger: And we turn back, you have my word.

Marguerite: Only to stop the rest of you from hogging all the glory.

Veronica: Well, looks like you’ll be leaving tomorrow then.

Malone: What are you talking about, you’ll be coming too.

Veronica: Why? This is my home.

Summerlee: You don’t mean that do you?

Malone: No she doesn’t, Veronica.

Veronica: I can speak for myself Ned. I’m staying. Good luck.

[Scene: Veronica bedroom.]

Malone: I’m sorry if we ganged up on you out there.

Veronica: I’m fine, really.

Malone: I always thought…

[Veronica and Malone kiss]

Veronica: I’m going to miss you Ned. I’m going to miss all of you, very
much.

Malone: It’s all right to be afraid.

Veronica: Afraid? What are you talking about?

Malone: London. It’s a different kind of jungle altogether.

Veronica: I see - so that’s what you think this is all about?

Malone: We’ll talk about this in the morning.

[Malone turns to leave]

Veronica: I’m not going.

Malone: But I can’t stay here with you.

Veronica: I hate to break it to you Ned, but no one asked you to.

[Scene: Daytime a clearing - Roxton is handing Challenger and Summerlee
equipment to load up the balloon]

Challenger: Be careful with those samples now.

Summerlee: Really George, one Pterodactyl egg would prove the point but a
dozen, grandstanding.

Challenger: Professional jealousy rears its ugly head already.

Marguerite: Found him.

Malone: I thought she at least would have come to see us off

Roxton: We said our goodbyes back at the treehouse.

Summerlee: Don’t worry Ned, we’ll send a rescue party back.

Malone: Sure, I’ll cast off.

Marguerite: Not without me.

[Roxton helps Marguerite into the balloon]

Marguerite: Thank you.

[Roxton throws a bedding pack into her arms]

Roxton: You better hop in Malone; I’ll cast the next one loose.

Malone: I’ll get it.

[Roxton gets into the balloon. Ned cast off the last rope but stays on the
ground]

Roxton: What the hell are you doing?

[The balloon slowly ascends as Malone watches from the ground]

Summerlee: Stop fooling around and get into the balloon right away.

Malone: Sorry Professor I’ll have to catch the next one.

Roxton: You’re sure you know what you’re doing?

Malone: I’m about to find out.

Roxton: Heads up then, your rifle.

Malone: Thanks

Challenger: The lads insane.

Roxton: The lads in love.

Marguerite: There’s a difference.

[Malone watches as his friends float away in the balloon.]

[Scene: The jungle - Veronica hacking away at some bush. Malone approaches
behind her]

Veronica: Malone.

Malone: Surprise.

Veronica: I’ve could have killed you. Is everyone else?

Malone: Gone.

Veronica: You didn’t.

Malone: I did.

Veronica: I can take care of myself.

Malone: I know.

Veronica: Eleven years Malone, before you and your friends came along, I
was doing just fine.

Malone: I just couldn’t leave you. I’d thought you’d be happy.

[Tribune rides up and falls off his horse an arrow sticking from his
shoulder]

Veronica: It couldn’t be.

Malone: Tribune.

[Malone rolls Tribune’s body over. Tribune grabs Malone by the throat]

Veronica: Ned!

[Malone pulls out his gun and points it at Tribune]

Malone: Any last words?

[Tribune lets go of his hold on Malone.]

Tribune: Help me

[Scene: The balloon]

Challenger: Without Malone’s extra weight we are making excellent progress.

Marguerite: I still can’t believe he could do such a stupid thing.

Roxton: What’s the matter Marguerite? No man ever given up his wealth for
you before?

Marguerite: Just wait ‘til we’re back on my turf.

Summerlee: Hum - do you two really want to spend your last minutes on the
Lost World bickering? Just think of the wonderful scenery your missing.

Challenger: And the amazing dinosaurs.

Marguerite: Oh yes and those roving hordes of armed marauders. I’ll miss
them too.

Thane: Look!

Drakul: What is it?

Thane: There are people inside.

Drakul: But it flies.

Roxton: We’ve been spotted.

Summerlee: What can they do to us up here?

Roxton: Crossbows – Balloon.

[The raiders shoot at the balloon with their crossbows. Roxton gets nicked
in the arm]

Roxton: Damn that was a little too close.

[Roxton fires on the raiders.]

Summerlee: There’s just too many of them.

[Roxton grabs one of the egg crates and throws it overboard]

Challenger: What the hell do you thing you’re doing?

Roxton: We need more altitude. [Throwing more crates overboard] That
should do it.
Save your fire, we’re out of range.

Challenger: Our friends seem to have given up.

Summerlee: Yes they’ve dropped their crossbows.

Marguerite: Then why isn’t Roxton smiling?

Roxton: Because I don’t like the look of that.

[The raiders have loaded a catapult with a fire bomb]

Drakul: Release!

[The fire bomb hits the balloon causing a small explosion]

Roxton: What the hell was that?

Marguerite: Smooth sailing my ass.

[The balloon makes a quick descent into some brush]

Challenger: We’re dropping fast. Hold on everyone.

[The raiders run toward the drop site]

Drakul: If there are any survivors I want them alive.

[Scene: The jungle - Roxton pulls Marguerite from the downed balloon]

Marguerite: It’s about time

Roxton: Just saving the best for last.

Challenger: Everybody all right?

Marguerite: A few rattled nerves maybe.

Summerlee: But no broken bones hmmm?

Roxton: So much for the good news.

Marguerite: It looks like somebody just closed our window of opportunity.

[Challenger pulls out some of the balloon canvas for Summerlee to inspect]

Summerlee: Good Lord - it couldn’t be.

Challenger: Gunpowder

Marguerite: Hey boys over here. There’s a village through there. Maybe
somebody can sew.

[Scene: The treehouse - Tribune is unconscious on a cot. Veronica touches
his cheek with her hand]

Veronica: Is he dead?

Malone: I don’t think so.

Veronica: Do you think he’s breathing.

Malone: I don’t hear anything.

[Tribune jerks awake.]

Tribune: Small world.

Malone: Too small.

Tribune: Your attitude is regrettable, though I suppose somewhat
understandable.

[Malone fires a few shots over Tribune then points his gun in Tribune’s
face.]

Malone: Understand this, one false move and your dead.

Tribune: Gunpowder. Amazing how a few small grains of black powder should
bring us all together again.

[Fade Out]

[Scene: The raided village]

Summerlee: All dead, how horrible.

Roxton: Poor bastards, from the looks of this place they put up quite a
fight.

Challenger: Everything’s picked clean. There are no weapons.

[Marguerite picks up one of the arrows]

Marguerite: Look familiar?

Roxton: Hmm I think I recognize the handy work.

Challenger: Summerlee here.

[Challenger shows Summerlee a piece of bamboo that is part of a hut. They
smell the remnants on their hands]

Summerlee: More Gunpowder?

Roxton: Those raiders were native Challenger. No tribe on this plateau has
gunpowder.

[Scene: The Treehouse]

Malone: You gave them what?

Tribune: Only Drakul knows how to make it.

Veronica: But you said yourself he’s a madman.

Tribune: A madman can be an asset. A certain lack of conscience I find
appealing. SSSS

Malone: So what’s your problem?

Tribune: No style, no vision. I engaged these mercenaries in order to
regain my empire.

Veronica: And instead Drakul is blowing up every village in his path.

Tribune: Hmmm.

Malone: You’re sure you’re not angry because he beat you to it?

Tribune: Such small brains, it’s amazing you’re not extinct already. I
come from a noble race, a race which conquers not to destroy but in order to
flourish. What’s the point of ruling if there’s nothing remaining but
ashes?

Malone: Life’s tough, you’re breaking my heart.

Veronica: Look Tribune we cleaned your wound and we’ll give you some water.

Malone: But you’re walking, now.

Tribune: I warn you, if Drakul is permitted to pillage at will. Every
village, outpost and settlement will be destroyed, including this rather
tasteless hodgepodge of timber and thatch.

Malone: Enough! Move it!

Tribune: Ah well, it is your fault. I suppose it’s only fitting that you
should perish too.

Veronica: What do you mean our fault?

Tribune: Gunpowder, you let the genie out of the bottle. Remember?

Malone: Only because you held our friends hostage.

Tribune: Perhaps I misjudged you. Perhaps being responsible for the
slaughter of innocents won’t keep you awake at night.

[Scene: The raided village]

Summerlee: To have come so close and to fail.

Marguerite: One things for sure. It could have been a lot worse.

[The raiders enter the village]

Roxton: Don’t speak too soon. Take cover.

[The raiders and the explorers engage in battle. Challenger/Roxton and
Marguerite/Summerlee are separated from each other. Marguerite is hit in
the left thigh with an arrow]

Roxton: Cover me

[Roxton crosses the village running while firing his pistol]

Marguerite: Not to put any pressure on you but I’m out of bullets.

[Summerlee fires and hits a raider]

Summerlee: What can I say madam, you inspire me.

[Roxton comes up behind a raider takes his gun and shoots the raider in the
leg.]

Roxton: Your lucky day

[He knocks the raider out thus ending the battle]

Roxton: Is everyone all right?

Challenger: Won’t be long before the rest of them arrive.

Roxton: Time to move.

Marguerite: Easier said then done.

[Roxton inspects her wound]

Roxton: No harm done

Marguerite: Owww

[Roxton lifts Marguerite in his arms.]

Roxton: Looks like I’ll have to sweep you off your feet. Let’s go.

Marguerite: Well as seeing the alternative is imminent death. You’ve got a
date.

[Scene: The trail]

Summerlee: That leg, it’s really bleeding very badly.

Marguerite: I’m sorry, I’m slowing us down.

Summerlee: I’m going to have to dress that wound.

Roxton: So far so good, we can spare a minute.

Challenger: What we need is a defensible position. I’ll scout up ahead.

Roxton: Nobody goes alone Challenger, I’m coming with you.

[Roxton hands Marguerite his rifle.]

Roxton: An extra rifle. It’s fully loaded.

Marguerite: Well Lord Roxton someone would think you cared.

Roxton: I do.

[Roxton and Challenger leave.]

Summerlee: Come on sit down. Easy…easy…easy…easy…easy.

Marguerite: How bad?

Summerlee: I saw some yarrow a little way back along the path. It’ll help
stop the bleeding. Can you manage a few more yards?

Marguerite: Yeah don’t worry about me. I won’t be alone.

Summerlee: I’ll be right back.

[Scene: The raided village]

Drakul: Defeat

Thane: And no one defeats us.

[Drakul sees one of his men still barely alive.]

Drakul: You’re dying.

Raider: It’s an honor to serve Drakul. I await your command on the other
side.

Drakul: Swift journey.

[Drakul kills the man]

Thane: Let me go after them.

Drakul: Who do you honor?
Thane: Myself
Drakul: Who do you honor?
Thane: My father
Drakul: Who do you honor?
Thane: My tribe

Drakul: Then go, take three men with you. Alive, I want the secret of the
flying thing.

Thane: I won’t fail.

[Drakul kisses Thane on both cheeks.]

Drakul: If you do, I’ll kill you myself.

[Scene: The jungle - Tribune, Malone and Veronica are running]

Malone: A few hours ago he was dying.

Veronica: Now he’s out running both of us.

Tribune: Tired already, should I carry you both?

Veronica: No thanks.

Malone: You seem healed already.

Tribune: Superior metabolism. Like the rest of my species.

[A raptor leaps out of the jungle]

Malone: Get down!

Veronica: We’ll handle this!

[Tribune leaps onto the raptor and feeds on it.]

Tribune: Sometimes the old ways are the best.

[Scene: The trail - Marguerite is grabbed by two of the raiders. Summerlee
returns to find her gone]

Summerlee: Marguerite?

[The raiders grab Summerlee]

Thane: You are my prisoners. Surrender to the will of Drakul.

Summerlee: What have you done with…

Marguerite: Not my day.

Thane: There are two more of them.

Raider: Drakul will be pleased.

Thane: To camp. We will search for the others

[Summerlee and Marguerite are led away to the raider’s camp.]

[Scene: A cave atop a ridge. Challenger is looking through his spyglass.]

Roxton: This will do Challenger. We can make camp; spend the night if we
have to.

Challenger: You get a clear view of the whole valley from here.

Roxton: Give me your spyglass.

Challenger: What is it?

Roxton: Looks like we’ve got company already. Damn, Marguerite’s rifle!

Challenger: Let me see. Oh my God you’re right.

Roxton: I was a fool to leave them alone.

Challenger: We don’t know that they’re dead Roxton.

Roxton: Then where the hell are they?

Challenger: Killing them we’ll never find out.

Roxton: What do you suggest? Invite them over for tea and pleasant
conversation?

Challenger: Yea, yea something like that.

[Scene: The cave - Roxton and Challenger ambush Thane and the raider. They
fight; the raider is knocked to the ground. Roxton gets Thane in a
headlock.]

Roxton: Where are they? Let’s try that again. Where – are - they?

Thane: Gone

Challenger: Are they alive?

Roxton: I got all the time in the world. Which is more then I can say for
you.

Thane: Yes

Roxton: Where are they?

Thane: At our camp - prisoner’s of Drakul.

Challenger: Who?

Thane: Our leader, my father.

Challenger: How many men in your camp?

Thane: Not many four or five.

Roxton: That means we can count on at least fifty. [Roxton points his gun
at the raider.] You! You’re free to go.

Challenger: Are you mad?

Roxton: Tell Drakul that if he doesn’t release our friends, he won’t see
his son alive. Go!

[Fade Out]

[Scene: Tribune, Veronica and Malone come to a bridge]

Veronica: I thought you said only a few hours walk?

Tribune: For me yes, I neglected to take into account your inferior
skeletal structure.

Malone: There is no raider’s camp is there? This is all just a big game.

Tribune: I don’t play games. Drakul’s camp is on the other side.

Malone: Fine, after you.

Tribune: Not afraid of heights are you?

[The three cross the bridge Veronica looks down at the raging rapids many
feet below. They come across Drakul’s camp and watch from a distance
hillside.]

Tribune: Gaze upon thy feeble enemy.

Malone: Oh my God.

Veronica: They don’t look so feeble to me.

Malone: Three of us against a small army.

Tribune: Well all we have to do is destroy their gunpowder and kill their
leader, simple really.

Veronica: Look! Right there below us.

Malone: The balloon!

Veronica: Summerlee and Marguerite!

[The three watch from there vantage point as Summerlee and Marguerite are
being dragged into the camp toward Drakul and the balloon]

Malone: No sign of Roxton and Challenger.

Marguerite: You are hurting me!

Malone: You son of a bitch. This whole thing was a set up.

Tribune: Believe me this is as much a surprise as to me as it is to you.
Although I will say one thing, the female human is as charming as ever.

[Scene: The camp]

Marguerite: Aren’t you an ugly toad. Actually I take it back you’re not a
toad you’re a wart on a toad.

Drakul: The more you scream the sooner you die.

Marguerite: What the hell do you want from us?

Drakul: Make it fly.

Marguerite: Somebody’s spiked your punch. It’s a basket it can’t fly.

Drakul: Then you’re already dead.

[Scene: The hillside.]

Veronica: We have to save them.

Tribune: What are two lives compared to the destruction of entire
civilizations.

Malone: Listen to me you slimy bastard. We both know this isn’t about
saving any civilization. This is about revenge.

Tribune: You do know that with the flick of my wrist I could snap your
spine in two.

[Malone points his gun at Tribune.]

Malone: Those are our friends down there.

Veronica: Drakul and the gunpowder have to wait.

Tribune: Well, if we’re going to infiltrate their camp. Some sort of
distraction might be in order.

Malone: It might.

Tribune: Say just off the top of my head you understand, a large explosion.

Veronica: You mean like a big stash of gunpowder.

Tribune: Ah Brilliant!

Malone: Do you promise to help with the rescue?

Tribune: You have me at a disadvantage. Very well we explode the gunpowder
and then we rescue the subordinate species. And then I kill Drakul.

Malone: Nothing like a lizard with a one track mind.

Veronica: Hmmm. Ned, I’m glad you stayed.

[Scene: Drakul’s camp - Marguerite and Summerlee are tied up in a supply
tent.]

Summerlee: Have you taken complete leave of your senses woman.

Marguerite: A simple thank you for saving my life would suffice.

Summerlee: We already know they have gunpowder, how could you tell Drakul
about the Hydrogen gas?

Marguerite: Easy, it was either that or die.

Summerlee: So you simply hand over the balloon. Thanks to you they’ll be
dropping bombs all over the plateau.

Marguerite: Look I bought us some time didn’t I?

[The raider from the cave returns.]

Drakul: Exchange! How dare you!

[Drakul slaps the raider down to his knees.]

Raider: He is your son!

Drakul: Thane has disgraced the tribe as have you.

[Drakul holds a knife to the raider’s throat.]

Drakul: Who do you honor?
Raider: Myself
Drakul: Who do you honor?
Raider: My leader
Drakul: Who do you honor?
Raider: My tribe

Drakul: Swift journey.

[Drakul stabs the raider and kills him.]

[Scene: The trail to Drakul’s camp. Thane is in front of Roxton and
Challenger hands bound.]

Roxton: Come on your hands are tied not your feet. Pick up the pace.

Challenger: But why not the both of us?

Roxton: Because if I don’t make it you’re the only hope for Summerlee and
Marguerite.

Challenger: You think they’re planning an ambush.

Roxton: It crossed my mind.

Challenger: All the more reason why I should be there at the exchange, to
cover your back.

Roxton: This is non-negotiable Challenger.

Challenger: Protest all you want.

Roxton: Let me put it bluntly. Lord John Roxton dies the world loses a
hunter, Professor George Challenger dies and the world loses a visionary.
My friend the choice has already been made for us.

[Thane grabs Roxton’s knife around his belt and bolts into the jungle.]

Roxton: Oh great, the little bugger took my knife.

[Roxton and Challenger catch up to Thane getting ready to commit hari-kari
with Roxton’s knife. Roxton stops Thane and struggles with him pulling the
knife out of hands.]

Roxton: Oh no, you don’t.

Thane: Let me go.

Roxton: What, so you can kill yourself?

Thane: I’m dead already.

Challenger: Nobody’s going to hurt you son.

Thane: I’ve been captured. I’ve disgraced my tribe.

Roxton: All right look, from one man of honor to another, when we make the
exchange you will be free to go.

Challenger: You have our word on it.

Thane: I’m prepared to die with honor and when I do Drakul will revenge my
death.

Roxton: Come on kid, you’re not dead yet.

[Scene: The hillside.]

Tribune: The gunpowder is in there.

[Tribune points to a guarded cave.]

Veronica: You forgot to mention it was guarded.

Tribune: Ah - an annoyance nothing more, but they must be silenced before
they can give the alarm.

Malone: Well the camps within ear shot, we don’t want to start a riot.

Veronica: At least no yet.

Tribune: Fortunately I have a strategy.

[Tribune squeezes Veronica’s arm.]

Veronica: Hey!

Tribune: Scrawny, but you do have your appeal.

[Veronica is on a ledge above the caves entrance she kicks down a rock that
falls in front of the two guards. They look up and raise their crossbows
and take aim.]

Veronica: Come and get it.

[Tribune and Malone come up from behind the guards and they fight. A third
guard appears from the cave gets the drop on Malone.]

Guard: Halt

Malone: Oh no.

[Veronica leaps from the ledge and knocks out the guard with a rock in her
hand.]

Malone: Perfect timing.

Veronica: Where’s Tribune?

[Tribune, out of breath, appears from the bush.]

Malone: The third guard?

Tribune: Delicious.

[They enter the cave. There are a few sacks of gunpowder on the ground.]

Malone: This is it?

Veronica: You’ve got to be kidding?

Tribune: Patience my child is its own reward.

[Tribune pulls back a curtain and behind it are many sacks of gunpowder
piled up.]

Veronica: One man with all this gunpowder…

Tribune: Could rule the world.

[Scene: The trail to Drakul’s camp.]

Roxton: Rope Bridge, this is where we’re supposed to meet.

Challenger: I don’t like it, too many places to hide.

Roxton: Then you’ll just have to do a good job of covering me.

Challenger: Well don’t worry about that. Where the hell is our reception
committee?

Roxton: Challenger

[Roxton points to the body of the raider Drakul killed lying on the ground.
Roxton goes in for a closer look. Challenger stays with Thane.]

Challenger: Be careful it could be a trap.

[Roxton gets to the dead raider and with his foot rolls him over onto his
back.]

Roxton: What the hell is going on here?

Thane: My father doesn’t bargain. Your friends are as good as dead.

[Fade Out]

[Scene: The cave.]

Malone: Now just hang on a second.

Tribune: The destruction of Drakul’s supplies is merely a prelude to his
own annihilation

Veronica: Our people come first. That was the deal.

Malone: And this close to the camp how can we be sure the blast will buy us
enough time?

Tribune: Do you have a better idea.

[Veronica looks behind Tribune and sees a wagon cart.]

Veronica: Maybe

[Scene: The trail to Drakul’s camp - Challenger is tying Thane to a tree.]

Thane: What are you doing?

Challenger: Keeping you out of trouble.

Thane: You are fools - no man defeats Drakul.

Roxton: Yea, we’re always up for a challenge. Now which way is your camp?

Thane: My capture has already dishonored my tribe. I will not betray them
again.

[Scene: Drakul’s camp - The raiders are surprised by a loaded wagon cart
rolling toward them.

Raiders: Watch out! Hey! What the hell? Out of the way!

[The raiders scramble. The wagon cart comes to a stop.]

Raiders: What is it? What’s in it?

[Scene: The trail to Drakul’s camp - Challenger, Roxton and Thane hear an
explosion in the distance.]

Challenger: Well my guess is - that way.

Thane: Let me go untie me.

Roxton: You’re our only insurance my friend. I want you safe.

[Roxton gives Thane a tap on the cheek.]

Thane: I will pray for your excruciating death.

[Scene: The camp – It’s in flames the raiders are scrambling trying to put
out the fires.]

Drakul: Water! Move!

[Veronica and Malone enter the camp.]

Veronica: How do we tell which tent has Summerlee and Marguerite in it?

[Malone points to a tent that has a guard outside.]

Malone: There!

Veronica: The whole camps on fire and he’s still standing guard?

[Scene: The rope bridge - Roxton and Challenger are crossing the bridge
cautiously waiting for an ambush.]

[Scene: The tent]

Summerlee: What the hells going on out there?

Marguerite: I don’t know it just sounds like one hell of a party.

[Malone and Veronica enter the tent dragging the unconscious guard inside.]

Malone: Call it a surprise party.

Summerlee: Veronica! Malone!

[Scene: The trail - Thane gets loose from the tree. He runs toward the
camp.]

[Scene: The camp - Malone, Veronica, Summerlee and Marguerite make their
escape.]

Veronica: Get down.

Malone: There’s the perimeter of the camp. If we can make it across this
open stretch we’re home free.

Veronica: Stay low now and run.

[Scene: The bridge – Thane runs across.]

[Scene: The camp – The raiders are grabbing their weapons in pursuit of the
prisoners.]

Marguerite: These guards are like cockroaches.

Drakul: Hunt! Kill!

[Scene: The trail - Roxton and Challenger meet up with the rest of the
group at a fork in the road.]

Veronica: There.

Roxton: Everyone all right?

Marguerite: Oh just peachy.

Challenger: Through there quickly, quickly.

[Veronica helps Marguerite who is still limping. The men are firing on the
raiders who are gaining on them fast.]

Veronica: Come on we’re almost there.

The men try to hold off the raiders but there are too many of them.

Roxton: Hurry up get across the bridge!

Malone: We’ll cover you.

Veronica: Come on – come on!

[Marguerite and Veronica get across the bridge and watch the men battling on
the other side.]

Challenger: Stay down Summerlee. Stay down. What are you stopping for?
Keep moving - keep moving!

Summerlee: Persistent little buggers.

[Summerlee is trying to reach the bridge when he is shot in the gut by an
arrow.]

Veronica: Summerlee!

Challenger: Arthur!

Malone: Summerlee!

[Summerlee falls over the cliff. Challenger looks over the cliff.]

Challenger: No!

Malone: Hurry Challenger!

Roxton: Challenger he’s gone - lets go!

[The raiders catch up with the men and they fight hand to hand. Challenger
is hitting a raider rather fiercely.]

Challenger: That’s for Summerlee and so is this.

[A raider chases Malone onto the bridge and they fight.]

Veronica: Ned – Ned!

Marguerite: If they would just hold still.

[The raider gets Malone on his back and in a choke hold.]

Veronica: I’m just not gonna sit here and watch; I’ve got to do something.

Marguerite: No! Look at that thing it can’t hold us all.

[Malone uses his thumbs to put pressure on the raider’s eyes. The raider
falls off the bridge and Malone is hanging off the side of the bridge.]

Challenger: Malone!

Veronica: Ned – Ned – No!

[Malone loses his hold and falls. Challenger makes it onto the bridge.
Roxton and Drakul are fighting which takes them onto the bridge. Tribune
emerges in the distance. He has a sac of gunpowder in his hand.]

Tribune: Perfect

[The fight on the bridge continues. Thane comes up behind Tribune and tries
to stop him but is easily subdued by Tribune and he shoves Thane off the
cliff. Tribune prepares to throw the bomb.]

Thane: Father!

[Tribune throws the bomb. Roxton and Challenger take cover as the bomb
falls on the bridge. The bomb goes off right next to Drakul also splitting
the bridge in half. Roxton and Challenger are hanging off the bridge.
Challenger is losing his grip and Roxton is hanging on to Challenger.]

Roxton: I’ve got you, hang on to something.

Challenger: Like what?

Roxton: Anything.

[Marguerite and Veronica look over the edge and see Roxton and Challenger.]

Marguerite: We’ve got to pull them up.

Challenger: I can’t reach.

Veronica: We can’t they’re too far down.

Marguerite: Then we’ll pull up the whole damn bridge.

Challenger: Save your own life Roxton.

Roxton: I once promised to follow you to hell and back Challenger; don’t
make me a liar.

[The rope that Roxton had his only hold on rips loose from the bridge. Both
he and Challenger plummet to the river below.]

Veronica/Marguerite: No!

[Roxton’s hat is seen falling to the watery abyss.]

[Epilogue]

[Scene: The river - Marguerite pulls Roxton’s hat from the water.]

Marguerite: Their gone; they’re really gone.

Veronica: We’re gonna keep searching just further down.

Marguerite: But even if they survived the fall; the current; the rocks.

[Thane appears along the river bank. Both Veronica and Marguerite pull
their weapons.]

Marguerite: You!

Veronica: Stay right where you are.

Thane: I’m unarmed.

Marguerite: Fine with me.

Thane: I tried to stop Tribune but I failed.

Veronica: Where is he now?

Thane: Gone with the gunpowder but what does it matter your friends are
dead; my father’s dead.

Marguerite: What do you want from us sympathy?

Thane: No.

Veronica: Then why are you here?

Thane: Same reason you are, to bring home the bodies.
