Transcript for “Resurrection” Episode 1x19 Originally Aired: 03/04/00 Writer: James Thorpe Director: Colin Budds Transcribed by Carol Murdock for TWIZ TV.com Feedback: murdockcarol@twiztv.com [Scene: Nighttime - Roxton and Marguerite are camped out in a tent. They are both lying on their sides with their backs to each other; covered in blankets.] Marguerite: Well one thing about freezing to death at least I’ll be well preserved. Roxton: Oh that’s the spirit. Life is a state of mind. Marguerite: Then I am clearly out of mine. There is no mountain pass off this plateau. Roxton: Well at least we’re back below the snow line. If you’re looking for warmth you should have gone with Challenger and Summerlee in the balloon. [Roxton turns on his back, looks at Marguerite and lifts a corner of his blanket in invitation.] Roxton: Body heat? Marguerite: I’m familiar with the concept. Roxton: Oh be my guest. [She snuggles closer to him and they share the blankets.] Marguerite: Is that your leg? Roxton: Oh I’m sorry. Marguerite: No…no…no…no…no it’s fine. I’m starting to feel a little warmer. You? Roxton: Yes, I little. You know perhaps if I just shifted a bit. [Roxton lies on his side facing Marguerite. She turns and they are nose to nose.] Marguerite: I think you’ve got something there. Roxton: Yes. Maybe if I just take my arm. [Roxton puts his arm around her so Marguerite’s head rests on it] Marguerite: That’s better. [They kiss.] Roxton: Getting hotter in here all the time. [Roxton hears a sound outside the tent and stops.] Roxton: Did you hear that? Marguerite: What? [Waits a minute and listens] Huh absolute silence; how fascinating. Now where were we? [Roxton goes in for another kiss but hears the noise again.] Roxton: There it is again. Marguerite: Well the only sound I hear is of cold feet; running away. [Roxton reaches for his gun] Roxton: Stay here I’ll be right back. Marguerite: Great! [Roxton goes outside to have a look around. From behind him a warrior charges at Roxton yelling and Roxton shoots him. Another warrior jumps Roxton from behind and they fight. Marguerite comes out of the tent. She comes up behind the warrior and hits him with a rifle knocking him out.] Marguerite: Crude but affective. Roxton: I thought I told you to stay in the tent? Marguerite: Does the phrase ungrateful son of a bitch have a familiar ring. [Two more warriors appear and grab Marguerite.] Marguerite: Put me down! [Roxton grabs a sword off the ground.] Roxton: Drop her! Marguerite: Look out! [Roxton turns; Ursula runs him through with a sword. Marguerite: No Roxton! [Roxton falls to the ground.] Marguerite: Roxton! Ursula: Take her! [Marguerite is dragged away screaming. Roxton watches helplessly.] **** Begin Intro**** At the dawn of the century A band of adventures set out to prove the impossible The existence of a prehistoric world The Visionary The Heiress The Hunter The Scientist and The Reporter All chasing the story of a lifetime Stranded in a savage land Befriended by an untamed beauty Together they fight to survive In this amazing world of lost civilizations and terrifying creatures Always searching for a way home A way out of……the Lost World ****End Intro**** [Scene: Daytime the camp site - Roxton is lying on the ground bleeding from his abdomen and mouth. A young boy appears and puts a hand on Roxton’s forehead.] Osric: Oh poor man; poor Lord John Roxton. You don’t have to die. Roxton: Who are you? Osric: You may call me Osric; wouldn’t you like to save your friend. It’s not to late…look. [Osric pushes away some snow and Marguerite’s image appears; she’s being carried by the warriors.] [Scene: The jungle clearing – The warriors bring Marguerite to a stone altar. The warriors are each holding one of Marguerite’s limbs. They strap her down.] Marguerite: Hey! You there! Shorty call off the boy scouts. Ursula: Look how the puny one struggles. Marguerite: Puny? Untie me I’ll show you puny. You and me alone - now! [Ursula unsheathes her sword.] Marguerite: Hey where is everybody going? [Ursula speaks a different language while waving the sword over Marguerite. Ursula stops speaking and puts back her sword.] Marguerite: Oh that wasn’t so bad after all. Ursula: You have been purified now you are ready. Marguerite: Ready; ready for what? [Ursula pulls out a knife from a tall stone object with running water in the middle.] Ursula: An offering to the Gods. Marguerite: You give me too much credit. I have so little to offer; really. Ursula: You have your beating heart. [Scene: The camp site - Osric covers the image of Marguerite and Ursula with snow.] Roxton: No Osric: Your friend will breathe her last when the sun is at its peak; unless of course, you want to save her? Roxton: But I’m dying. Osric: Maybe; maybe not. The universe must be balanced. If you live someone must die; a complete stranger. Someone you don’t even know, but if you die so does Marguerite. Roxton: I must be dreaming. Osric: Well look what I have here; Lord John Roxton’s life force. [Osric is holding a ball of light.] See how fragile; look how it fades. One moment there is light; the next only darkness. Roxton: Who the hell are you? Osric: Do you want it back? Roxton: Yes. Osric: But the balance; someone must die. Roxton: Yes dammit. [The ball of light floats back into Roxton; the blood stains are gone from Roxton’s wound. He sits up.] Roxton: What the hell? Osric: Now go and save your friend. [Roxton grabs his rifle and runs.] [Scene – The trail] Malone: We should be back to the treehouse by noon. Pick up some fresh supplies; grab a couple of hour’s shuteye and keep looking. Veronica: What’s the rush all of a sudden? Malone: Roxton and Marguerite are searching North; Summerlee and Challenger South so we have to keep moving west. Veronica: Hey? Are you okay? Malone: Never better; I’m getting so close I can taste it. Any day now I’m gonna find away off this damn plateau. Veronica: If you don’t have a heart attack first. Malone: I’m sick of the bugs; I’m fed up with the ape-men and if I see one more damn dinosaur. Besides I miss my family. I miss my job. I miss… Veronica: Go on. Malone: A lot of things. I miss my world. You want to get off this plateau as badly as I do; don’t you? [They hear a raptor and gunshots.] Veronica: Raptors. Malone: Come on. [Veronica and Malone find a man firing at a raptor. Malone fires his rifle and kills the raptor.] Man: Good shooting. Looks like I owe you. Malone: Forget it. Man: I will, right after you hand over your weapons. [The man points his gun at Malone and Veronica.] Malone: What did you say? Man: You blew both barrels. In case you thinking maybe you can make a move for that pistol on your hip. By the time you drop the rifle you’ll be dead. Malone: You’re out of your mind. Veronica: We just saved your life! Man: That’s why I’m giving you a chance; but my patience is wearing thin. [A raptor jumps out of the jungle. The man turns and starts shooting. Veronica and Malone take the opportunity to slip away.] Man: Let the games begin. [Scene: The altar - Ursula is sterilizing a knife by holding it to a flame.] Ursula: It is time. Marguerite: Oh come on; I’m sure we can work something out. I mean does it have to be my heart. [Ursula recites a chant in a strange language. She raises the knife over Marguerite.] Marguerite: What about some fingernail clippings instead; a lock of hair? It’s my real color! [Just as Ursula is about to cut Marguerite’s heart out Roxton fires his rifle.] Marguerite: John Roxton: Better late then never. Drop the knife. [Ursula drops the knife] That was easy. [Ursula unsheathes her sword] Ursula: Approach and die! Marguerite: Look out! [A warrior jumps Roxton and they fight. Roxton easily kills the warrior with his pistol; Ursula enters the fight.] Roxton: You want to play swords huh? [Roxton holsters his pistol and grabs a long torch stuck in the ground. Ursula cuts the torch in half with her sword.] Marguerite: Roxton! Roxton: I’m doing the best I can. Now why don’t you be a good girl. [The fight continues and Roxton is able to knock Ursula out with a punch to the jaw.] Roxton: Ouch the lady has an iron jaw. Marguerite: Trust me she’s no lady. I thought you were… [Roxton cuts Marguerite loose.] Roxton: Up you come. Marguerite: I saw her kill you. Roxton: Come on before her friends get back. [Scene: The treehouse - Veronica and Malone step off the elevator.] Malone: Do you think we lost them? Veronica: I don’t know. We didn’t have enough time to cover our tracks. [Veronica goes to the balcony and looks down.] Malone: I’ll take a look around. [Bullets are shot into the treehouse. Both Malone and Veronica fall to the floor for cover. The man has brought along four of his raiders.] Leader: Got yourselves a little castle in the sky. Veronica: Quick disable the elevator! Leader: Well? Raider: No luck. Leader: I brought the family along this time. I’ll give you one chance; surrender and live. Veronica: How much gunpowder do we have left? Malone: Not enough to blow them up. Leader: Tic tock…tic tock. Veronica: Nobody steals my home. Go to hell. [The raiders below start shooting into the treehouse.] [Fade Out] [Scene: The jungle - Roxton and Marguerite are running through a clearing.] Marguerite: I gotta tell you for a dead guy you got great stamina. Roxton: I guess we can slow down now. It’s been at least a couple of miles. Marguerite: Yeah an hour ago. Osric: Up here Roxton: What the …? [The two stop and look up; they see Osric; the boy is standing up a tree on a branch.] Osric: Congratulations she lives; well done Lord John Roxton. Marguerite: Friend of yours? [Osric floats down from the tree] Osric: I kept my part of the bargain now it’s your turn. Roxton: My turn? Marguerite: Bargain, what bargain? Osric: Someone will die, a man. Someone you don’t know. Roxton: I remember. Something strike you funny? Osric: You have to kill him. Roxton: You never said anything about that. Osric: Surprise! That’s what so funny. You’re the only one who can pull the crystal sword from the rock. Marguerite: Ah excuse me. Would somebody mind telling what the hell…sorry heck is going on here? Roxton: Nothing is going on here. I never promised to murder anybody, come on. [Roxton grabs Marguerite’s arm and they walk away.] Marguerite: Ow! You’re such a gentleman. [They continue walking they don’t notice Osric is close.] Marguerite: Do you want to tell me about it now? Osric: He’s a very old man, probably be dead soon anyway. Marguerite: How did he do that? Roxton: Now, lets get one thing straight little man. I - don’t – murder - anyone. Osric: Not even your own brother? You’re already damned Lord John Roxton; what’s one more death. Roxton: Go to hell. Marguerite: Roxton Osric: After you. [Roxton walks away, past Marguerite. She looks at Osric and he motions for her to come closer. Osric takes Marguerite’s hand.] Osric: Talk to Lord John Roxton please. Marguerite: Why should I? Osric: I thought you knew. He bargained his soul for your life. Roxton: Marguerite! Osric: I like you Marguerite. I’ll make you a deal. Marguerite: I’m listening. Osric: All Lord John Roxton has to do is retrieve the crystal sword. Marguerite: Did you say crystal sword? Osric: It lies imbedded in a rock near here. Marguerite: Then what? Osric: I’ll take care of the rest. Marguerite: Well suppose he refuses? Osric: Then I will take back what I have so generously given, his life. Roxton: Marguerite now! Marguerite: Listen I’ve gotta run. If we need anything we’ll be in touch. Osric: One hour Marguerite, you fail and he dies. [Marguerite turns around to look at Osric but he’s disappeared.] Marguerite: What? [Scene: The altar - Osric walks up to Ursula lying on the ground unconscious.] Osric: Awake Ursula: My reward? Osric: Postponed I’m afraid. Ursula: I’ve failed you. Osric: No…no not you. Ursula: Only Roxton can pull the crystal sword? Osric: But he will not do so willingly. [Ursula sounds a horn into the jungle. Three men emerge from the jungle.] Ursula: Then we must bend his will. [Scene: The trail] Marguerite: So let me get this straight? You were dying then that mini-person comes along; waves a magic wand and brings you back to life. Do you hear how that sounds? Roxton: Do you think it’s a trick; an illusion? You saw the blade into my chest, the blood. What the hell do you want from me? Marguerite: What Osric said about your soul; are you sorry you saved my life? Roxton: No, of course not. Marguerite: All right whatever you say. [A spear hits a tree right by Marguerites head. Roxton grabs Marguerite’s arm and they start running. They are chased by warriors. Roxton and Marguerite trip and start rolling down a hill. They come to a stop at the bottom.] Marguerite: That’s a clever diversion; kill ourselves before they can attack. Roxton: Not clever enough. Come on. Marguerite: Oh we’re sitting ducks out here in the open. This way; take cover in here. Roxton: What the hell are they playing at? [The warriors run right past Roxton and Marguerite who are hiding behind some large rocks.] Marguerite: Ok I’ve had enough for one day. I’m ready to be board again. Roxton: Did you notice something odd about what just happened? Marguerite: What other than the fact that we’re still alive? Roxton: It’s was almost as if they’re herding us like cattle. Marguerite: Into the forest? That doesn’t make any sense. Why not just kill us out in the open when they had the chance? Roxton: Exactly; why here? What’s so special about this place? [Marguerite and Roxton continue on, Osric is in the distance with a smug little smile on his face.] [Scene: The treehouse.] Malone: Would you at least listen to what I’m saying? Veronica: I refuse to surrender. Malone: We wait until darkness we put a rope down over the side and we slide down. Veronica: They’d kill us. Malone: We send the elevator down; while they’re waiting for it we escape. Veronica: They’d still have the treehouse. Malone: And we’d still have our lives. Veronica: No! Malone: What do you mean no? Veronica: This place is my life. All I ever knew of the world, my parents; its here. Malone: Veronica. Veronica: A piece of my mother’s sewing that she never finished; my father’s favorite records; a book that my parents use to read me when I was a child - the lock of baby hair still inside it. Malone: I didn’t mean… Veronica: This treehouse is my life; my world. Don’t expect me to give up on it without a fight; I’d rather die first. [A raider falls through the roof armed with a crossbow.] Raider: I think I can help you there. Malone: No! [Malone stands in front of Veronica and takes an arrow in the shoulder. Veronica pulls her knife and attacks the raider. They fight he gets her by the throat Raider: She wants to play. [Veronica kicks him a few times in the nether regions. Veronica places herself in front of the balcony. Veronica: First one who dies loses. Raider: My kind of game. [The raider runs at Veronica. Veronica kicks him in the chest and he goes over the balcony.] Veronica: You lose. [The leader starts shooting into the treehouse from the ground.] [Scene: The trail] Marguerite: The coast looks clear. Roxton: Just take it easy. What? Marguerite: Just wondering if there were any white lights, choirs of angels. Roxton: Let it go. Marguerite: Oh come on - death must have felt like something? Roxton: Like a blade of ice splitting me in two. I’ve never been more afraid in my life. Marguerite: I’m sorry. Roxton: Forget it. Marguerite: Thank you for coming back for me. Roxton: You think I did what I did to save your life? You don’t get it do you? I was a coward Marguerite. Marguerite: No…no. Roxton: You know it wasn’t death I was afraid of; it was not living. I couldn’t believe it was over; my life. My Life! What? That was it? It can’t be and then - it wasn’t. Marguerite: You’re not a coward John, just human. Welcome to the planet. [A man’s voice startles them out of their conversation. An old man approaches as Roxton aims his rifle.] Old Man: Lord John Roxton at last we meet. Roxton: You know me? Old man: Yes and I know why you’re here. Marguerite: And why is that? Old man: You have come to kill me. [Fade Out] [Scene: The treehouse - Veronica pulls the arrow from Malone’s shoulder.] Veronica: Did that hurt? Malone: Why would it hurt? All you did was pull a steel rod with jagged spurs out of my flesh. Veronica: It’s not bleeding much just take it easy. Malone: I’ll be fine. Veronica I’ve been thinking. Veronica: So have I. You were right. Malone: No, you were right. Veronica: I was just being selfish. Look at you. I almost got you killed protecting the treehouse. Malone: But it is your home; your world. Veronica: It’s just a bunch of planks and a bit of thatch. It’s not flesh and blood……and it’s not worth losing you. Malone: We’ve got enough bullets to last for awhile. Veronica: We’re out numbered and who knows what they’re gonna try next. Malone: All the more reason to get started now. [Malone tries to stand up.] Veronica: What do you think you’re doing? Malone: We may not make it but I’ll be damned if we’re going down without a fight. [Scene: The trail] Old man: Don’t worry I don’t take it personally; your killing me I mean. Marguerite: That’s big of you. Roxton: Osric can’t make me kill you. Old man: Don’t take the boy for granted. Osric’s powers are strong. Roxton: How do you know? Old man: He comes from the same plane as I. Marguerite: A plane you came from a plane? Old man: Plane – dimension; whatever you’d like to call an alternative existence. Marguerite: Oh yes of course so you’re saying you and Osric are magical creatures? Roxton: You mean like Gods? Marguerite: Don’t encourage him. Old man: Can a God be tired? [They enter the old man’s dwelling.] Old man: Sit. Roxton: Look whatever, whoever you are. Why does Osric want you dead? Old man: I’m his jailer. Roxton: We don’t see any bars. Old man: I keep him imprisoned here; on this mortal plane. Keep his evil safe from the world. Marguerite: He’s evil? What’s he done? Old man: My dear if I told you it would drive you insane. Roxton: If you’re not one of us how can you die? Old man: Nothing can kill me; except of course the crystal sword. Roxton: What’s that got to do with me? Old man: Only a damned man pure of soul can free the crystal sword. Roxton: Damned? Marguerite: All right I’ve heard enough; why don’t we just change the subject. Roxton: I’m damned? Old man: Only in your heart. But that’s the one place it counts. After your brother’s death you cursed a little corner of yourself. And yet, as a being, you remain pure of soul; so you’re the perfect man for the job. Roxton: Well you can relax old man; you’re safe. I have no intentions of pulling that sword. Old man: Well don’t you see that’s the beauty of it all. The road to hell is paved with good intentions. Who says we don’t have a sense of irony. [Scene: The jungle] Ursula: My men have failed me I will gut them myself. Osric: Be still everything is going according to plan. Ursula: The man and the woman are lost to us. Osric: Lord John Roxton will never be lost to me. I saved a little piece of him. [Osric opens up his palm and a small ball of light glows] [Ursula and Osric look into a pool of water Osric runs his arm over the pool. They see the image of Roxton and Marguerite leaving the old mans dwelling.] Ursula: I know that place; an hour from here at most. Osric: You see Lord John Roxton will always be mine. [Scene: The treehouse - Malone is going through some vials of Challenger’s.] Malone: I think this is the one. [He takes a whiff and it has a horrible smell] Oh on second thought maybe not. Veronica: Ground dried beef and burlap. Are you sure you know what you’re doing? Malone: I’ve watched Challenger and Summerlee enough to grab the basics; I think. [Taking a whiff of his concoction then lets Veronica take a whiff] Oh, that’s the one. Veronica: It smells like rotting meat. Malone: Sulfur dioxide – That’s the idea. A little gunpowder… [Malone mixes the ingredients and the potion starts to smoke. They hear arrows flying; the men are shooting fire arrows into the treehouse.] Veronica: Oh my god. Help me! [Veronica and Malone put out the fires.] Leader: Last chance. Line them up. Either hand over the treehouse to me now or you’ll burn alive. Now! [The raiders shoot more fire arrows into the treehouse] Veronica: Whatever you’re going to do; do it now. If one of these things hit the thatched roof we go up like a fire ball. [Scene: The trail] Marguerite: But to just leave him like that; an old man. Roxton: He’s not an old man. Marguerite: Well whatever he is. Roxton: Safest place for him is far away from that crystal sword; and that means away from me. Marguerite: You know I keep hearing about that sword but I don’t see it anywhere. Roxton: Fine with me let’s just get home. [They hear warriors approaching] How many bullets you’ve got left? Marguerite: What! I was supposed to be counting? Roxton: Never mind just shoot. [The warriors attack.] Marguerite: Come on now, can’t we all be friends? [Marguerite shoots one of the warriors.] I guess not. [Roxton fights off two of the warriors. Ursula approaches Marguerite and unsheathes her sword. Marguerite is out of bullets so she pulls her knife.] Marguerite: Look woman to woman what did I ever do to you? Ursula: You denied the offering. Marguerite: Let’s just say my heart wasn’t in it. [They struggle when another warrior grabs Marguerite] So you want to play dirty [She bites Ursula. Ursula knocks her out with butt of her sword] [Roxton is still fighting and a warrior kicks him in the chest and knocks Roxton down by some stones. Roxton sees a sword protruding from the stone and pulls it out. Roxton holds the crystal sword. Ursula comes up behind Roxton and knocks him out.] Ursula: The sword has awakened. [Osric is smiling as he applauds.] [Fade Out] [Scene: The jungle clearing - The warriors are gone. Marguerite and Roxton are lying on the ground. Marguerite crawls over to Roxton and feels for his pulse.] Marguerite: Roxton? Oh thank god. Here, come on rise and shine. Easy…easy it’s only me they’ve gone. Roxton: Oh no the sword. Marguerite: What about it? Roxton: The crystal sword it was in that rock. Marguerite: Was? Roxton: I drew it. Marguerite: Well then the old man’s as good as dead. Roxton: Not if I can help it. [Scene: The old man’s dwelling.] Voice of Roxton: Wake up Old Man: Huh? Voice of Roxton: I’ve got some good news. Old Man: Roxton? Voice of Roxton: Out here. Old Man: What is it? Voice if Roxton: Quickly [The old man steps outside and sees Osric.] Osric (Roxton’s voice): The good news is you’re going to die. Old Man: The crystal sword. Osric: Free Old Man: After all these millennia. Osric: Free Old Man: The man called Roxton won’t use it against me [Osric holds out his closed hands.] Osric: Left one? Right one? Where’s the sword? Give up? [Ursula runs the crystal sword through the old man.] Osric: It’s in you. Ursula: [chants in foreign language] [In the shadows you see the small boy Osric turn into a full grown man. Ursula bows before Osric the man and hands him the sword.] Ursula: My king. Now you have the sword. I have been a faithful servant and fulfilled my part of the bargain. Osric: Yes you have my beautiful warrior. Ursula: And my reward? Osric: Unfortunately it lies in the next life. [Osric kills Ursula with the crystal sword.] [Scene: The trail to the old mans dwelling – Marguerite and Roxton hear Ursula scream.] Marguerite: Oh we’re too late. [Roxton runs over to the old man who is lying on the ground bleeding.] Roxton: I’m sorry my friend. The sword; it was an accident. Old man: You forget who I am, there are no accidents. Roxton: Take it easy. Old man: Osric is on his way back to the altar now to cross over. Roxton: Marguerite! Find some cloth and some water. Marguerite: I’ll be back. Old man: Don’t bother you can’t save me. A damned man can only hope to safe himself. Roxton: Oh no…no…no…no please not yet; tell me, tell me how? Old man: Osric - the – altar. [The old man dies.] Roxton: How? How? Marguerite: Come on Roxton. Its time for plan B; I heard what he said “Osric - the altar”. Now if he escapes we stand to lose a lot more than him. [Scene: The treehouse - Veronica and Malone are tying burlap sacks filled with his concoction.] Malone: Not too tight; I want to make sure these babies really pop. Perfect - you ready? Veronica: As I’ll ever be. [The raiders are sitting around their campfire.] Leader: What a waist. If I can’t have it no one can; this time - aim for the roof. [The raiders scatter and take cover when one of the burlap bombs hits the ground in front of them. It explodes.] Leader: You’ll have to do better than that. Malone: Here’s two more start spreading them around. Veronica: Right. [Veronica tosses another burlap bomb off the balcony. It explodes right in front of the leader leaving him covered in meat.] Leader: What the…? Get the hell out here you’re not gonna believe this. [Another burlap bomb hits the ground and meat covers them all.] Raider: They’re throwing meat at us. [The raiders notice the nasty stench.] Raider: Oh - that smell. Leader: Like something rotting. [Malone hands Veronica more bombs to toss.] Veronica: It’s working Malone: Keep it up we have a few more. Leader: You better get used to the smell of dead meat. Because that’s what you are. Malone: That’s the last one. Leader: When I get my hands on them. Raider: I think I’m gonna be sick. [Raptors growl in the distance.] Leader: Shut up listen. The meat, that stench; it’s attracting every damn raptor in the area. Let’s get the hell out of here now. [Raptors jump out of the jungle and attack the raiders.] Malone: Not today my friend. [Veronica kisses Malone on the temple.] [Scene: The altar - Osric raises the crystal sword over the altar.] Roxton: Stop right there. Osric: Well look who’s here Lord John Roxton. Roxton: Who are you? Where’s Osric? Osric [boy’s voice]: You’re already damned what’s one more death? Roxton: You! Osric: Come to watch the final chapter have you? Fitting I suppose. Without you I wouldn’t have this. Now you will see what few mortals have; you will see me cross over. [Osric raises the sword to plunge into the altar. Roxton fires a shot in the air.] Roxton: Nobody is going anywhere. [Osric doesn’t stop; Marguerite fires a shot at him.] Osric: Fools! I’m immortal now nothing can kill me. Roxton: Maybe not but I bet I can piss you off. [Roxton fires at the crystal sword causing part of the blade to shatter.] Osric: What have you done? Marguerite: We’ve grown so fond of you; you simply must stay. [Osric jumps on the altar and lets out a deafening yell. The blast throws Marguerite and Roxton to the ground. Roxton gets up and fires a few rounds at Osric but nothing fazes him.] Osric: When I’m through with you Lord John Roxton you will beg for death. [Osric jumps down off the altar. Osric and Roxton fight. Osric throws Roxton around like he weighs nothing. Osric gets Roxton in a choke hold on the altar.] Osric: Well Lord John Roxton - are you ready for death yet? Roxton: Not – even – close. Marguerite: John! [Marguerite throws Roxton the halved crystal sword. Roxton gets Osric by the throat with one hand while holding the sword in the other.] Osric: I gave you life. Roxton: Sorry I won’t [runs Osric through with the sword] be returning the favor. [Osric lies on the altar with the sword sticking out of him.] Roxton: Are you ok? Marguerite: Me? Yeah…yeah…yeah sure; I’m fine. Look! [The image of boy Osric floats out of the body of man Osric.] Marguerite: He’s gone; he’s finally gone. [Roxton and Marguerite leave the altar. Marguerite hears the boy Osric’s laughter. She stops and listens.] Roxton: No, don’t look back. [Epilogue] [Scene: Nightime the treehouse - Summerlee enters the common room with food.] Summerlee: Oh don’t be silly it’s a pleasure. After what you two have been through. Challenger: Cooking dinner is the least we could do. Marguerite: Absolutely right, it’s the least they could do. Challenger I’ll need a fork and Summerlee another glass of wine when you have a moment. Veronica: Where’s Roxton his foods getting cold. Malone: I’ll find him. Marguerite: No that’s okay; I know where he is. Malone: A toast. Veronica: To what? Malone: To our life here; now. Veronica: And to wherever tomorrow takes us. [Marguerite approaches Roxton on the balcony he’s in deep thought.] Marguerite: Penny for your thoughts. Roxton: Overpriced at that. Marguerite: If anyone’s damned around here; it’s not you. Roxton: Don’t say that. Marguerite: At least you have a pure soul. Last time I checked mine was a little worse for wear. Roxton: Well that’s why I’ll always be around to set you straight. Dirty job but someone’s gotta do it. Summerlee: Humph. Dinner is served. Marguerite: You said always. Roxton: Did I? Summerlee: Come on you two; nothing worse than cold raptor. Roxton: Truer words were never spoken Professor. End of Episode
