Challenger: I don’t know. I count at least three. [Malone takes a shoot and hits one] Make that two. [Malone and Challenger take cover behind a large tree.] Malone: We can’t keep running forever. Challenger: Dammit. We have to end this quickly; before they get reinforcements. Malone: On three. One – two – three [Challenger and Malone come out from behind the tree but the cannibals are out of sight.] Malone: What are they waiting for? [A cannibal appears with a blow gun ready to fire.] Challenger: Down! [Challenger shoots and hits a cannibal. Malone also takes one out.] Malone: Is that all of them? Challenger: For the moment. Malone: Where is Marguerite? [Challenger and Malone backtrack to find her. They come upon some leaves that have blood on them.] Challenger: She came this way and there looks like there was a struggle. Malone: Hers? Challenger: Wherever she is and whatever it takes; we’ll find her. Marguerite: Ah so you do care after all. Challenger: Where the hell have you been? Marguerite: Blind date. [She points to an unconscious cannibal on the ground. They hear more cannibals near.] Challenger: Shhhh. Do you hear that? [They come across cannibals digging in some dirt uncovering a wrapped body.] Marguerite: The place is infested with them. [Challenger readies to fire a shot.] Marguerite: Whoa…whoa…whoa. What do you think you’re doing? Challenger: We need to scare them. Marguerite: What we need to do is get out of here before they spot us. Malone: Marguerite that’s a human grave. Marguerite: And? Dead is dead; it won’t make any difference to him. Challenger: It makes a difference to me. [Challenger fires a shot and scares the cannibals away from the body. Challenger, Malone and Marguerite approach the grave.] Marguerite: Well, throw some dirt on him and let’s get out of here. Malone: Is that a mummy? Challenger: It’s Egyptian. Marguerite: Yeah right; and the stream we draw our water from that’s the Nile. [Challenger reads off the headstone.] Challenger: May Anubis God of the dead torment the souls of any who disturb this grave. Malone: A curse. Challenger: Fascinating. Look - give me a hand. [Challenger and Malone dig the mummy out of the grave.] Marguerite: What are you doing? Challenger: This is a monumental find. Marguerite: You saved this guy the indignity of being dug up by cannibals just so you could do it. Challenger: This mummy may be the key to mysteries thousands of years old. [Malone jumps back when the hand of the mummy moves.] Malone: Did you see that? Challenger: See what? Malone: His hand it twitched. Marguerite: You almost had me there. Malone: I’m not kidding. Challenger: Oh don’t be ridiculous. [Challenger brushes away the dirt when it appears the mummy’s arm moves.] Marguerite: I don’t know Challenger. Challenger: It was an illusion; the earth slipping away from the body. [The mummy hand grabs Challenger’s arm and Challenger jumps away. The mummy sits up in its grave.] Marguerite: Oh my God. **** Begin Intro**** At the dawn of the century A band of adventures set out to prove the impossible The existence of a prehistoric world The Visionary The Heiress The Hunter The Scientist and The Reporter All chasing the story of a lifetime Stranded in a savage land Befriended by an untamed beauty Together they fight to survive In this amazing world of lost civilizations and terrifying creatures Always searching for a way home A way out of……the Lost World ****End Intro**** [Scene – The grave - Marguerite and Malone take the wrappings off the mummy; it’s a man.] Malone: Can you imagine what those cannibals might have done if we’d left him? Marguerite: How was I supposed to know he wasn’t dead? Challenger: We’d better hurry; those cannibals will be coming back and they’ll bring friends. [Ramses tries to talk.] Marguerite: Shhh…shhh try not to talk. Challenger: Quickly now - we need to get him out of here. Malone: Can you stand? Ramses: Who are you? Marguerite: I think the introductions can wait. Ramses: I’m fine thank you. I am Ramses Thirteen Pharaoh to my people. [Scene: The jungle.] Roxton: We’ve mapped the western area ten miles out; and still nothing. Veronica: Maybe the others have had better luck. Roxton: Maybe. Veronica: I’m sorry I know how much you want to find a way off the plateau. Roxton: Well, as thrilling as this place is; I hadn’t planned on making it a one way trip. Veronica: You have a life to get back to; you all do. Roxton: Some more than others. Summerlee: Why does a Christian God find it necessary to create so many flying pests; that bite? [A raptor comes out of the bush and runs right past them.] Roxton: That was too close. Veronica: It had us; why didn’t it attack? Roxton: I wish I knew. [The three find a nest of large T-Rex eggs. Some eggs are cracked open.] Roxton: A T-Rex nest there’s your answer. The raptor’s belly was already full. [Summerlee steps over to the nest.] Veronica: How horrible. Summerlee: It’s magnificent. [Summerlee picks up one of the eggs.] Veronica: Professor what are you doing? Summerlee: Challenger will want to add this to his collection. Veronica: Professor put that down. Summerlee: Oh come; Veronica the mothers obviously abandoned the site. Veronica: A T-Rex never abandons her nest. She’d die first. [A T-Rex growls in the distance.] Roxton: Point taken. Let’s get out of here. [Summerlee lays down the egg.] [Scene: The treehouse - Malone is writing in his journal and Challenger is reading from a parchment.] Challenger: Oh this is impossible. Malone: Tell that to the pharaoh. Challenger: Do you have any idea what this would mean; to discover a living culture that is the embodiment of Egypt - the most glorious civilization of the ancient world? Ramses: You have heard of my ancestral land? Challenger: Of course we have. Malone: And your ancestors managed to end up here? Ramses: Our history tells of a noble king who vowed to rid our land of a murderous band of runaway slaves. Challenger: Really? Ramses: He succeeded in driving them out of Egypt but the heathens prayed to powerful Gods. The sea itself turned against us; swallowed up my ancestors. Moses: Let me guess, the survivors wandered in the desert for forty years. Ramses: A hundred. Their journey finally brought them here. Challenger: Oh this really is the find of the century. [Shots ring out and the men go to the balcony. Marguerite, down below, is shooting off ape-men.] Marguerite: I’m really beginning to hate those things. Don’t worry about me; Gunga Din can fend for herself. [Scene: The jungle - Roxton shoots and kills a raptor.] Roxton: Well that time it wasn’t close at all. Summerlee: We may not have found a way off the plateau; but at least we’ve got something to bring back to dinner hmmm. Roxton: Well the first thing I do when I get home is eat something I don’t have to kill. Veronica: You’d miss the excitement. Roxton: Well this part I won’t miss. [Roxton is getting ready to gut the raptor when a T-Rex growls in the distance.] Veronica: The T-Rex she followed us. Roxton: She must have sniffed out the fresh kill. I vote we leave it for her give her an easy meal. Summerlee: Better the raptor than us. Veronica: Let’s go. [Scene: The treehouse - Marguerite is in her room loading her gun.] Ramses: May I enter? Marguerite: I get the feeling you don’t normally have to ask first. Ramses: Only when entering the chamber of a Queen. Marguerite: Well in that case my castle is your castle. So how did you survive being buried alive? Ramses: The Gods protected me. They summoned the serpent to burrow a whole near my face. Marguerite: Lucky you. Ramses: It was a sign of my divine right to rule; a judgment against Nefertiti, my sister. Marguerite: Your sister had you buried alive? Ramses: When my father died she saw her chance, and killing me made her the only heir to the thrown. Now my people have to suffer her murderous rule. Marguerite: Well so much for your delicate flower theory. Ramses: And I am left with nothing to offer my beautiful savior. Marguerite: Offer me? Ramses: A woman like you deserves the riches of a kingdom. Marguerite: Riches as in gold, jewels? Ramses: More than you can count. [Scene: Later - the common room] Challenger: No it’s absolutely out of the question. Marguerite: All I’m saying is we keep him alive long enough to warn his people of his sister’s treason. Challenger: I am not a hired gun. Marguerite: He goes back by himself she’ll just kill him again. Malone: Probably do a better job of it this time. Marguerite: Thank you. Malone: So we shouldn’t go back. Marguerite: It’s his world he not gonna just give it up. Malone: Marguerite this isn’t our fight. Marguerite: I don’t believe you two. A reporter; and you - you call yourself a visionary? Pharaohs in the jungle Challenger; it’s the eighth wonder of the world. Challenger: And what has he offered you? Marguerite: Excuse me? Challenger: Well we all know what drives you Marguerite. Marguerite: Do we? Challenger: Gold - jewels or is it money? Marguerite: Don’t get self righteous on me Challenger. Gold - glory we’re all driven by something. I know you want this find. So do whatever it takes to convince yourself you’re being noble; we leave in an hour. [Scene: The jungle - Roxton, Summerlee and Veronica are hiding underwater in the lake. They are breathing through bamboo shoots. The T-Rex is on the shore watching for them. When the T-Rex stomps away the three emerge from the water.] Summerlee: My God did you see the size of that thing? Roxton: Yes very humbling. Our guns would be pea shooters against her. Summerlee: Luckily brains won out over brawn hey Roxton? Roxton: What’s the matter? Veronica: She left the raptor. Summerlee: Maybe she didn’t see it. Veronica: Uh uh. Roxton: You think she’s hunting us? Veronica: Not us. [Veronica takes her knife and cuts Summerlee’s sleeve off his shirt.] Summerlee: Me? You think she’s hunting me? Veronica: You touched her egg; your scent is in her nest. [Veronica cuts Summerlee’s sleeve into pieces.] Summerlee: She thinks I destroyed her nest. Roxton: If that’s the case she’ll be doubling back soon. Veronica: We need to move we’ll use this to try to create a false trail. Try to slow her down. Roxton: This way. Summerlee: That’s not the way to the treehouse. Roxton: We’re not going to the treehouse Summerlee. Veronica: Unless you want her to follow us home? Summerlee: No...no! [Fade Out] [Scene: A jungle clearing - An Egyptian pyramid is standing in the clearing. Nefertiti is outside sitting on her throne having a coronation celebration. Egyptian women are dancing and music is playing. Ramses, Challenger, Malone and Marguerite hind behind some bush viewing from a distance.] Marguerite: This is it? Malone: One pyramid, a dozen people? Ramses: This is our place of worship, our civilization lies many days to the west. Challenger: So what are they doing? [A serpent is taken from a basket and put around Nefertiti shoulders.] Ramses: It’s a coronation. The pyramid is my father’s tomb. The priests transfers his power to Nefertiti; making her the next pharaoh. Challenger: It’s remarkable Ramses: Get down [A guard passes them.] Marguerite: I thought you said everyone would be pleased to see you? Ramses: And they will be, when we kill her. [Nefertiti holds her scepter to the sky.] People: Praise to Ra! Marguerite: You never said anything about killing your sister. Ramses: I wish it could be different, but to reclaim my kingdom it’s the only way. Challenger: It’s out of the question. Marguerite: You lied to me. Ramses: No I mislead you perhaps, but only because I feared you wouldn’t come. Malone: You’re right we wouldn’t have. [Challenger, Malone and Marguerite walk away.] Ramses: But you must help me; I need your strength, your weapons. Malone: We didn’t sign up for murder. [Scene: The trail back to the treehouse - Ramses catches up to them.] Ramses: Why bother to save me only to condemn me now? Challenger: You have your life. Ramses: My life, my life belongs to my people. How can I live while they remain enslaved? If Nefertiti isn’t stopped, I won’t be the only one buried alive. Marguerite: Ramses I’m sorry I wish we could help you but we are not going to kill your sister. Ramses: No of course not. I let my passion take hold of me, but killing her - I mustn’t lower myself to her level. Malone: You said your people would follow you if they knew the truth. Ramses: They would but as long as Nefertiti wields the scepter of Ra no one will dare challenge her. Challenger: The scepter of Ra? Ramses: It is the symbol of the Pharaoh’s divine power. Whoever holds it controls the kingdom. Marguerite: So if hypothetically you were to get hold of the scepter? Ramses: Nefertiti would have no choice but to concede the throne to me. Malone: A bloodless coup. Challenger: All right I’m listening. [Scene: The pyramid - They stop by some pillars.] Ramses: We must act tonight while Nefertiti keeps vigil in my father’s burial chamber. Tomorrow she’ll return to our kingdom and surround herself with a hundred guards. Malone: So this is her last night in the tomb? Ramses: Alone Malone: Her and a dozen guards. Ramses: No only two at the entrance. Challenger: If we make it that far. [Scene: Nighttime the jungle - Roxton, Summerlee and Veronica have taken refuge in a cave. Roxton is building a campfire.] Roxton: That should do it. We can’t risk a bigger fire. Summerlee: As far as I’m concerned this hole is an oasis. Oh just to sit down…heaven. Veronica: Well at least we won’t starve. Would you like some professor? [Veronica offers Summerlee fruit.] Summerlee: I don’t think I’ve got the energy to chew. Is this really necessary we must have lost the beast hours ago? Veronica: I’m afraid you don’t understand. Roxton: It’s not just a hungry animal Professor. It’s a personal vendetta. Veronica: Try to get some rest. Summerlee: I didn’t realize eyelids cold hurt so much. [Summerlee falls off to sleep.] Veronica: Poor thing he’s had quite a day. Roxton: Just one more adventure to tell his grandchildren when he gets back home. Veronica, if we do find a way off - will you come with us? Veronica: This is my home; I have no reason to leave. Roxton: Not even for Malone? Veronica: Ned already has someone. Roxton: Not like you he doesn’t. Veronica: No, me I can take down a raptor; climb a hundred foot tree or knife a snake at twenty paces. But I’d never know which fork to use. Roxton: So you’re interesting, you’re unique. Veronica: I’m not a publisher’s daughter. Roxton: Gladys isn’t your problem, she’s Malone’s. If you care about him - tell him. Let him work it out. Veronica: I’ll take first watch. Roxton: All right. Oh Veronica, trust yourself and Malone. [Scene: Outside the pyramid] Ramses: I am risen. [Challenger, Malone and Marguerite fight the guards. Ramses passes and enters the pyramid.] Marguerite: Owww Challenger: Quiet you’ll bring the whole garrison. Marguerite: Come on lets get inside. Malone: Oh I think he broke my nose. [Marguerite grabs Malone’s nose and wiggles it. It cracks.] Marguerite: You’re fine let’s go. Malone: One day I’m gonna strangle that woman. Challenger: Take a number. [Scene: Inside the pyramid – Challenger, Marguerite and Malone follow Ramses down a hallway with writings and Egyptian symbols on the wall.] Challenger: This is incredible, it’s magnificent. [They come across a human skeleton hanging upside down.] Marguerite: Was it someone you knew? Ramses: The pyramids architect. He gave his life so he could become one with his creation. Challenger: Killed himself? Ramses: He was sacrificed. Marguerite: Gotta love tradition. Ramses: Now his spirit either curses or protects those who enter. Malone: Any word on which way he’s leaning with us? Ramses: This way. [Nefertiti is kneeling at an altar. Ramses comes up behind her and takes the scepter that is lying on top of their father’s sarcophagus.] Ramses: I claim what is rightfully mine. Nefertiti: How dare you enter this holy place! Ramses: Is that any way to welcome your brother back from the dead. Nefertiti: Let our father welcome you when I have sheathed my dagger in your heart. [Nefertiti lunges for Ramses. Malone fires his gun at the ceiling.] Malone: Easy now, no one needs to get hurt. Nefertiti: Who are these demons that accompany you? Challenger: We’re just trying to restore the balance of power. Marguerite: Before you had Ramses buried alive that is. Nefertiti: Fiend - spawn of Set. Ramses: I prefer you call me Pharaoh. [Scene: Morning the cave.] Veronica: Any sign of her? Roxton: None. Veronica: She must have given up. Roxton: Uh uh. Veronica: Not convinced. Roxton: Let’s make it home alive then I’ll be convinced; time to wake Summerlee and for us to get going. Veronica: Give him a minute. He could use the rest. Summerlee: Nonsense my child I’m as fit as a fiddle. Roxton: Of course you are, let’s go. [They leave the cave Summerlee stretches his back and groans.] Veronica: Are you all right? Summerlee: Just tweaked my back should settle in a minute. Roxton: Oh he’s all right, aren’t you Summerlee? I tell you what Veronica and I will take point you watch our backs. In case that things still out there. [Roxton hands Summerlee his rifle and takes Summerlee’s pistol for himself.] Summerlee: Thank you John, you can count on me. Roxton: Good man [Summerlee takes up the rear using Roxton’s rifle as a cane. The three start to leave when the T-Rex makes her appearance behind Summerlee.] Roxton: Run Summerlee! Move it! Come on…come on…come on! [Roxton looks at his pistol and knows it will be of no use - he runs.] [Fade Out] [Scene: Outside the pyramid - Ramses is dressed in full Egyptian Pharaoh trappings.] Ramses: We are Ramses risen from the dead. Osiris himself kneeled before us. Bidding us return from the underworld; to lead our people into a new age of conquest, of glory. [Nefertiti is brought before Ramses by guards] Blessed by Ra our power is infinite. Nefertiti: Demon you are cursed not blessed. Devil - perversion of darkness. Marguerite: Now…now who had who buried alive? Challenger: No killing her Ramses that was the deal. Ramses: But of course not - that would be barbaric. Nefertiti: A conscious now from the monster who murdered his own father. Malone: What? Marguerite: Oops Challenger: Murder? Marguerite: Why do I get the feeling we backed the wrong horse. Nefertiti: I’ll see your corpse rot for this brother. Ramses: You won’t be seeing anything for much longer dear sister. [Ramses raises the scepter and two beams of light emit from it hitting Nefertiti in the eyes, blinding her.] Ramses: Perhaps you should have let me kill her. Malone: You evil son of a bitch. Ramses: I am Pharaoh beyond good and evil. [Ramses throws a pouch to the ground in front of Malone, Marguerite and Challenger.] Here, ample compensation for your trouble…and your weapons. [Scene: The trail.] Marguerite: This has not been a good day. Malone: Ramses manipulated us from the moment we dug him up. Marguerite: Yeah, that was our first mistake. Challenger: We can’t leave him in power. Marguerite: Was I at the wrong party or did we actually have a choice in the matter? Challenger: We have to go back. Marguerite: Wait Challenger, how do you plan to dethrone him? Challenger: I don’t know. Marguerite: Brilliant! Why didn’t we think of that? Challenger: Do you realize what we’ve done? Marguerite: Yes thank you I am well aware. All I am saying is there’s some things you can’t undo. Malone: He’s right Marguerite we’ve got to try. Marguerite: How? In case you’ve forgotten he took our guns. We’d be lucky to make it back to the treehouse alive. Let’s at least rearm ourselves before we play cavalry. Challenger: It would be too late by then; as long as Nefertiti is alive she’s a danger to him. Malone: He’s right we don’t have a choice. Marguerite: Fine! You two want to go off and get yourselves killed have fun. Challenger: It’s a matter of honor. Marguerite: What good is honor to you if you’re too dead to enjoy it? [Malone and Challenger turn to walk back towards the pyramid] Marguerite: Hey - I’m not going with you. [They keep walking] I’m not. [She continues on in the direction of the treehouse] George Don Quixote, as if there aren’t enough ways to die out here already. [Marguerite stops, she sees two Egyptian guards approaching, she ducks into the bush.] [Scene: The trail - Veronica, Summerlee and Roxton are running away from the T-Rex.] Veronica: We’ll never out run it. Summerlee: I’m slowing you down. Veronica: No…I didn’t mean it like that. Roxton: No time to argue people. [Roxton takes off his shirt and rips it into pieces.] Summerlee: Roxton what on earth are you doing? Roxton: We’re going to need a tourniquet. Summerlee: For what? Roxton: Blood - it’s the strongest scent of all. Veronica: There’s got to be another way Roxton: Well I’d do it myself…I’m sorry Summerlee but it’s you she wants. Veronica: I’m afraid he’s right Professor. The more blood around the less likely she’ll be able to pick up the real trail. Roxton: It’s your curse you’re just too charming; you’re her man. Summerlee: Just do it. [Roxton cuts Summerlee’s arm with his knife.] [Scene: The trail - Marguerite is by a stream barefoot in the water. She is taking off her shirt when the two Egyptian guards approach.] Marguerite: Hot isn’t it? [The guards come closer. Challenger and Malone fall from a tree and knock down the guards. Marguerite hits a guard with her boot. Malone knocks out the other guard. Challenger picks up a sword from the ground and hands it to Malone. Marguerite empties out two rocks that were in her boot.] Marguerite: Not exactly the kind of stones I was hoping for. Malone: Thanks for coming back to warn us. Marguerite: You kidding? It had nothing to do with you. Challenger: Really? Marguerite: If I show up without the two of you what was I supposed to tell the others? More trouble that it’s worth. Challenger: If it means anything, I’m proud of you. Marguerite: Thank you - it doesn’t. [Marguerite turns to leave.] Challenger: Uh…uh not that way. Marguerite: You can’t be serious. Challenger: We can be the hunter or the hunted; it’s your choice. [Scene: The pyramid – Malone, Challenger and Marguerite watch as Ramses is being transported by his slaves - his guards surrounding him.] Challenger: I don’t see Nefertiti. Malone: He must have sealed her inside the pyramid. Challenger: Let’s go find out. Marguerite: No, first things first. Let’s get our weapons back then we can dig her out. Challenger: She could be dead by then. Marguerite: She’s probably dead now. Challenger: Come on. [The men take off] Marguerite: Why do I bother? [Marguerite follows. - They approach the pyramid, the men are trying to pry open the door to the pyramid.] Challenger: Just a few more inches. Malone: Help would be appreciated. Challenger: That’s it we’ve almost got it. [The door to the pyramid opens.] Marguerite: Well what are you waiting for? Challenger: Ladies first. Marguerite: Age before beauty. Malone: Well technically I was born in 1895 so… Marguerite: Don’t make me hurt you. [They enter the pyramid and find Nefertiti in a chamber wrapped like a mummy; she is still alive.] Challenger: There she is. Malone: Its okay we’re here to help. Nefertiti: What is it? Who’s there? Malone: Three people who’ve made a terrible mistake. Marguerite: Just get her unraveled so we can get out of here. Ramses: I don’t think so. I suspected something when my guards failed to return. Marguerite: Maybe they took a wrong turn. Ramses: Seal them in! Challenger: No! [Ramses and his guards back out of the chamber. Malone tries to reach the door in time but is too late in stopping it from closing.] [Fade Out] [Scene: The tomb - Malone is trying to pry the chamber door open with a sword.] Challenger: Save it, its solid stone and a foot thick. Malone: Wait it’s [he pulls on the sword then it breaks in half] a foot thick. Challenger: The tomb is sealed, its air tight. Nefertiti: There is another exit; for the Pharaohs spirit to pass beyond. Marguerite: Well, anytime now. Nefertiti: The way will be revealed after death. Marguerite: Mind if we don’t wait that long? [Scene: The trail - Roxton, Summerlee and Veronica are climbing a steep hill amongst dense jungle.] Roxton: Sorry about the climb Professor. Summerlee: At least this is one terrain she is not suited for. Veronica: We’ll soon find out. Roxton: Well maybe she’s given up. Veronica: Would you? Her babies are dead. [The T-Rex growls in the distance.] Roxton: Dammit what’s it gonna take to lose that thing? Summerlee: Me. Veronica: You can’t be serious? Summerlee: Oh yes I am child. It’s my scent the mother has in her brain. No reason to sacrifice the two of you as well. Veronica: Professor you’re coming with us. Roxton: I’ll carry you if I have to. We’re all in this together. Summerlee: I wish you’d reconsider my plan. Roxton: Dying is not part of the plan, let’s go. [They come to a dead end.] Roxton: Dammit, there’s no way around it no way over it. Summerlee: Apparently your right John, we are all in this together. [Scene: The tomb - Marguerite is translating the hieroglyphics on the wall of the chamber.] Challenger: Anything yet? Marguerite: Yeah, the crops came in nicely. Oh a few wars won woman and slaves taken; man stuff mostly. You? Challenger: Nothing that says exit. Malone: Can you give us a better idea of what we’re looking for? Nefertiti: It won’t be a single word. It’s not something meant to be read by the living. Marguerite: Great. How do you talk to the dead? Challenger: In a prayer. Marguerite: Yeah a prayer, but to who? Nefertiti: Apis guide to the underworld. Marguerite: Is this guy tall – thin – short - what? Nefertiti: He’s a bull. Malone: Got him [seeing a picture of a bull on the wall] Come and read this. Challenger: Ra’s love will deliver you. [Marguerite reads some mirrored plates on the wall.] Marguerite: Same here. It’s on all of them. Challenger: Yes this one too. Malone: That’s what these remind me of the mirrors in a periscope. Marguerite: But Ra’s love. What does Ra love? Nefertiti: The sun. Challenger: Get the torches bring them to the mirror. Hold them close. [They hold the torches to the mirror which causes a chain effect shooting a beam of light to the others. It hits a stone serpent’s mouth. Marguerite walks over and put her hand inside the serpent’s mouth opening. When she does the chamber door opens.] [Scene: Outside the pyramid] Challenger: It worked. Nefertiti: Ramses…Ramses? Malone: He’s gone. Nefertiti: We’re too late; my people are doomed. Challenger: Not if we can stop him. Nefertiti: Impossible, you don’t know his power. Malone: We’ve seen worse. Nefertiti: Even if I return, he’ll divide my people with civil war. He holds the scepter of Ra. Marguerite: Listen lady nobody buries me alive and gets away with it. Challenger: We’ll have to travel quickly. Nefertiti: I can see shadows, light. [Challenger examines Nefertiti’s eyes] Challenger: Your retinas are seared. Do you think you can keep up with us? Nefertiti: If there’s a chance to save my people. Marguerite: Let’s see - Ramses has our guns; magic scepter; armed guards. We have a blind woman and two swords; any ideas? Malone: Maybe, give me a minute. [Malone ducks back into the pyramid] [Scene: The dead end – The T-Rex growls in the distance.] Veronica: Well the wind shifted our scent. She’s confused but not for long. Summerlee: Marvelous creature really. Roxton: A bit too stubborn from my liking. Veronica: You were right I should have told Ned. Roxton: You’ll get your chance. Summerlee: You have a plan? Roxton: Seems you were right Professor. There is only one way to stop her. Veronica: What? [Veronica and Roxton put together a Summerlee dummy; stuffing his shirt with leaves.] Roxton: There that should do it. [Summerlee approaches with a large head shaped fruit] Summerlee: This is the largest one I could find. Roxton: Yes, that’ll do. Veronica: There’s not much time. Get it up. [They stand the dummy up and lean it against some rocks.] Veronica: Let me see your arm. Summerlee: You need more blood; anything for the cause. Veronica: Not this time; just your bandage. [Veronica wraps the bloody bandage around the dummies neck] Roxton: Summerlee? Come on. [Summerlee takes off his pith helmet and gives it to Roxton who places it on the dummy.] Roxton: There, I’d say you never looked better. [The T-Rex approaches] And just in time. [The T-Rex goes up to the Summerlee dummy and in one bite devours it.] [Scene: The trail - Ramses is being transported by his slaves. He passes Malone, Challenger and Marguerite hiding in the bush. They come up behind the entourage and knock out the two last guards that have their weapons in a bag. Nefertiti appears in front of the entourage.] Nefertiti: Stop Ramses I command you! I too have returned from the dead brother. Ramses: Down [Ramses slaves lower his carriage to the ground; he approaches Nefertiti.] Ramses: You have returned for the last time you blind pretender. Seize her! [Challenger, Malone and Marguerite come out of the bush, with their weapons, and stand beside Nefertiti.] Ramses: Don’t tell me another surprise return. Challenger: A resurrection really. Ramses: You should have stayed buried. Malone: I could say the same about you. Ramses: I command you Ra show them your power. [Ramses raises his scepter to the sky] The light is mine! [The sun’s ray hits the scepter and the beam of light appears. Marguerite, Challenger, Malone and Nefertiti hold out the mirrored plaques from the pyramid. They reflect the light beam back to Ramses. It explodes on his chest throwing him a few feet backward through the air. [Epilogue] [Scene: Nighttime the treehouse - Challenger, Malone and Marguerite step off the elevator.] Malone: Queen. Marguerite: Well forgive me if I don’t find it amusing. Malone: Oh you wouldn’t precious one. Marguerite: Malone. Challenger: Well let’s face it Marguerite he had you fooled. Marguerite: While you two saw right through him; please. Veronica: Ned? You’re back. Malone: Yeah we were out with a Pharaoh. I’ll tell you all about it later. Veronica: Ned wait…I ah. Malone: What - something wrong? Veronica: No. I missed you. Malone: Yeah? Veronica: Yeah. [Roxton enters Marguerite’s room she is washing up.] Roxton: Ah there she is; the woman who would be Queen. Marguerite: So you’ve heard. Congratulations ever heard of knocking? Roxton: I guess that Pharaoh guy well he was pretty sweet on you huh? Marguerite: You find something humorous in that? Roxton: Me? No. Marguerite: It may interest you to know that some men appreciate the finer qualities in a woman. Roxton: Well, do tell. [Marguerite saunters closer to Roxton.] Marguerite: Oh a certain air of distinction; a noble bearing of gentility; a sensuous passion smoldering beneath a thin veil of civility. [Roxton leans closer going in for a kiss.] Roxton: I see. [Marguerite pulls away abruptly.] Marguerite: Of course it takes a special man to appreciate these things. Roxton: Apparently. It’s just a damn shame it took a power mad homicidal maniac to bring out the best in you. [Marguerite throws a towel at Roxton] Well so much for [tucks the towel down her camisole] civility. Marguerite: Why are you here? Roxton: I just wanted to say hello. Marguerite: Consider it said; anything else? Roxton: Yes…welcome home. End of episode
