[Scene: The jungle clearing – Summerlee, Marguerite and Malone are getting
ready to take a picture of a dinosaur.]

Summerlee: Spectacular, come on Ned we need some human perspective.

Malone: You’re sure I should get that close?

[Marguerite gives Malone a little shove]

Marguerite: Yes Ned go on.

Summerlee: Oh it’s perfectly safe our subjects are herbivores…plant eaters.

Marguerite: Just try not to look like a vegetable and you’ll be fine.

Malone: Keep it up Marguerite. Pretty soon you’ll be laughing out of the
other side of your face.

Marguerite: Ohh

[Ned steps in to the frame of Summerlee’s shot.]

Summerlee: Come now…smile. You’re about to be immortalized.

Marguerite: Yes think of what a lovely token it will be for what’s her
name?

Summerlee: Marguerite please. Smile again.

Marguerite: Gladeez that’s it, the girl back home? Won’t she be surprised
when she sees what a great adventurer you are.

Summerlee: Come on Ned, never mind her, now on the count of three…one.

Marguerite: Bet she’ll be even more surprised if we send her a picture of
Veronica.

Summerlee: Three

[Ned aggravated moves toward Marguerite, ruining the shot. Summerlee sighs
at the two’s childish behavior.]

[Scene: The trail - Challenger, Veronica and Roxton come across dinosaur
bones lying on the ground.]

Challenger: It’s magnificent.

Veronica: It’s just a pile of bones Challenger.

Challenger: Maybe here but back in England this would be the eighth wonder
of the world.

Roxton: If any bones are headed back to England they’re going to be mine.
We need to finish charting this stream before nightfall Challenger.

Challenger: Oh very well. [He picks up something from the ground]. Damn.

Veronica: What is it?

Challenger: It’s a cartridge…a rifle cartridge.

Veronica: So?

Roxton: Well neither of us fired our guns. No rust and been fired
recently.

Veronica: Fired by who?

[Renata runs out of the jungle, whimpering, being chased by ape-men. Roxton
fires on them but they continue to chase after Renata. The three chase
after the ape-men. The ape-men catch up to Renata and rip her dress as they
pull on her. The ape-men throw her to the ground and turn on each other
fighting. Roxton catches up to the ape-men as one grabs Renata.]

Roxton: Hey this one’s got your name on it.

[Roxton kills one of the ape-men and the other growls and runs off into the
jungle. The three run up to Renata.]

Veronica: Is she ok?

Challenger: Are you hurt?

Renata: It’s you.

Challenger: I beg your pardon?

Roxton: You know him?

Renata: Of course I do, you’re Uncle George!

[Scene: Hargrove compound - Renata leads Veronica, Challenger and Roxton to
her home.]

Renata: Father! Father!

[Hargrove comes out of the hut and runs to her taking her in his arms.]

Hargrove: My god. Renata what happened?

Challenger: Renata?

Renata: Ape-men but I’m ok. Look who saved me. He looks exactly like the
photograph.

Hargrove: It can’t be…Challenger?

Challenger: Hargrove! Veronica, Lord John Roxton…Dr. William Hargrove from
London.

Roxton: You’re a long way from home Doctor.

Hargrove: How did you find me here?

Challenger: Well we didn’t. We didn’t even know you were here not till
now.

Hargrove: You haven’t come for me?

Roxton: Sorry Doctor but we’re still trying to find our own way off this
blasted plateau.

Hargrove: Yes well so many questions so much to catch up on. But I’m being
a terrible host. You’ve must have had quite a journey? Renata, why don’t
you show Roxton and Veronica where they can sleep tonight?

Challenger: Now really William I don’t want to impose on you.

Hargrove: After saving my daughter’s life - a hearty meal and a good nights
rest is the least I can offer you.

Veronica: We could get an early start in the morning.

Challenger: You two get settled in. The good Doctor and I have much to
talk about.

Hargrove: Brilliant

Renata: This way.

Hargrove: Let’s relax inside hmm?

Challenger: William, that girl?

Hargrove: I’ve been saving a bottle of brandy for just such a special
occasion.

Challenger: Whoever she is; she is not your daughter.

[Scene: Outside Veronica’s hut.]

Veronica: I’ll be more that comfortable, thank you.

Roxton: Good and I’ll be right next store.

Renata: Uncle George called you Lord Roxton is that true are you really
royalty?

Roxton: Well actually it’s an inherited title Renata; it really doesn’t
mean much anymore.

Renata: I think it’s fascinating.

Roxton: Really?

Veronica: Yes my lord, pray tell us more.

Roxton: Perhaps enough about me. It’s quite a set up your father has here.

[Renata puts her arm out to stop Roxton]

Renata: Ahh not this way.

Veronica: Just the two of you for all this?

Renata: My father really doesn’t like anyone to leave the compound.

Roxton: No problem just curious.

[Jungle sounds get louder and Roxton makes his way towards it.]

Roxton: What was that?

Renata: Ah ah nothing, lets go back.

Roxton: It sounds like it’s coming from that building.

Renata: Oh that’s father’s workshop.

Veronica: What’s in there?

Renata:  He doesn’t like anyone to go in inside it’s too dangerous;
chemicals, gasses from his experiments.

Roxton: Fascinating

[Veronica moves toward the workshop. Renata pulls on her arm to stop her.]

Renata: No, father would be furious.

Roxton: Well we wouldn’t want to upset father now would we?

Veronica: Of course not.

Renata: Thank you, now if you’ll follow me it’s almost time for dinner.

[Scene: Hargrove’s hut]

Challenger: You can’t expect me to believe such nonsense?

Hargrove: Renata is my daughter George - end of discussion.

Challenger: Dammit William, don’t lie to me.

Hargrove: How dare you.

Challenger: Have you forgotten to whom you’re talking?

Hargrove: I thought I was speaking to my friend.

Challenger: Yes the same friend who helped you grieve when you buried your
daughter Renata fifteen years ago. You can’t actually believe that that
girl is your daughter? William, I have never been your enemy.

Hargrove: I found her when I first arrived on the plateau. Her parents
were killed by ape-men; leaving her an orphan in the jungle.  I saved her;
took her in as my own; raised her as my own.

Challenger: And she has no idea?

Hargrove:  None.  I even told her stories of London, our happy times;
walking together playing together, just as I did with my real
daughter……before.

Challenger: Yes, I’m sorry.

Hargrove: Her memories are Renata’s memories. I won’t let you change them.

Challenger: William.

Hargrove: I want your word damn you. This must stay between us. Renata
must never find out the truth.

Challenger: But is that fair on the child?

Hargrove: What good would it do to tell her, except break her heart? Do I
have your word, your word as a ……?

Renata: Father our guests are famished shall I start dinner?

[Scene: The treehouse - Summerlee, Marguerite and Malone are developing the
film they shot.]

Summerlee: You ruined the picture.

Malone: It’s wasn’t my fault. [Marguerite looks over Malone’s shoulder.]
Are you admiring your handy work?

Marguerite: What’s that?

Malone: Isn’t it obvious? Dinosaurs and me.

Marguerite: No that.

[Marguerite points to an image in the bushes of the picture. She grabs the
picture from Malone’s hand]

Malone: Hey

[Marguerite uses a magnifying glass to better see the image.]

Marguerite: Summerlee I could kiss you.

Summerlee: I beg your pardon.

Marguerite: Look!

Summerlee: It’s a woman.

Marguerite: And around her neck?

Malone: Headphones!

Summerlee: It can’t be.

Malone: It is……radio headphones.

Marguerite: And where there are radio headphones?

Malone: There may be a radio transmitter.

Marguerite: Who hoo London here we come.

[Scene: Hargrove compound.]

Roxton: Look Challenger I understand Hargrove is an old friend, but ah.

Challenger: Was an old friend.

Veronica: Something happened between you two.

Challenger: Nothing to worry about.

Roxton: And those noises we heard coming from the enclosure are they
nothing to worry about too?

Challenger: Dr. William Hargrove has always been a little unorthodox -
shall we say. Secretive - a little paranoid - like most geniuses.

Veronica: You didn’t see the way Renata spoke about him.

Roxton: That’s right it was almost as if she was afraid of her own father.
All right what aren’t you telling us?

Challenger: Whatever you heard or thought you heard…

Veronica: I heard it too.

Challenger: I can assure you there is nothing strange going on here.

[Renata comes out of her hut dressed in a pretty pink gown.]

Renata: Dinner is served.

Challenger: Nothing at all

[Scene: Nighttime - the trail to find the headphones. Marguerite, Malone
and Summerlee have torches.]

Marguerite: We’re lost - I don’t believe it.

Malone: I guess we should have waited until morning.

Marguerite: Must have been crazy to listen to you two.

Summerlee: Us?

Malone: This was your idea.

[Malone and Summerlee quote Marguerite]

Summerlee: Let’s try tracking the woman in the photograph - you said.

Malone: How hard could it be - you said.

Summerlee: Veronica does it all the time.

Marguerite: Ohhh all right, all right no need to split hairs. I’ll let you
both off the hook this time.

[The woman in the photograph is up in a tree right above where they stop.
She sprinkles some dust on them.]

Marguerite: Will somebody please just get us the hell home.

[Summerlee sneezes]

Marguerite: Bless you.

[Marguerite sneezes]

Summerlee: Gesundheit

Malone: Somethings……

[Malone sneezes.]

Summerlee: I wonder what the……

[They all begin to sneeze profusely.]

Marguerite: Let’s get out of here.

Malone: I’m with you.

[A small speck of light drifts by Summerlee’s nose and he inhales it.]

Summerlee: All better now.

[All three faint one by one. The woman giggles.]

[Fade Out]

[Scene: Hargrove compound - Challenger and Hargrove are sitting outside.
Challenger is enjoying a cigar and a snifter of brandy.]

Hargrove:  To tell the truth George, I have no idea how I finally got here;
I’m only glad I did.

Challenger: Glad, to be stranded here?

Hargrove: It’s a kind of land where a man can still dream.

Challenger: As I remember the only thing we dreamt about was work. Too bad
you had to give it up.

Hargrove: Well I still dabble.

Challenger: Really? Tell me more.

[Hargrove hears Veronica approach.]

Hargrove: Another time.

Veronica: Thank you for a wonderful dinner Dr. Hargrove.

Hargrove: Off to bed so early?

Veronica: We’ve got a lot of ground to cover tomorrow. Goodnight.

Challenger: She’s right best make an early start.

[Challenger pauses when he hears classical music playing.]

Challenger: Is that Strauss?

[Scene: Renata is playing a record on the gramophone and walks over to a
full length mirror and starts to twirl to the music. Roxton is standing
nearby drinking some brandy watching her.]

Roxton: I really should be turning in.

Renata: This was my mother’s favorite dress.

Roxton: It’s very pretty.

Renata: Father said they once they went to all the fancy balls together.
Have you ever been?

Roxton: To a ball? Oh yes many times.

Renata: Were they glorious?

Roxton: They were long.

Renata: Don’t you like to dance?

Roxton: Oh I’ve had my moments.

Renata: I’ve never danced.

Roxton: Never? You know in London all the young men would be lining up to
fill your dance card.

Renata: I’ve begged father to teach me but he won’t. He says it makes him
sad to think of mother and all the fun they used to have. I’ll bet she was
a beautiful dancer.

Roxton: May I?

[Roxton holds out his arms.]

Renata: I don’t know how.

Roxton: Well then it’s the perfect time to learn my lady. [She puts her
left hand on his shoulder and her right hand in his.] Just relax and let the
music take you.

[They begin to waltz around the room.]

[Scene: Hargrove compound - Veronica is outside, she goes to the area that
Renata had stopped them earlier. She tries to unlock the gate but can’t,
she looks through the slates.]

[Scene: Roxton and Renata are laughing having fun waltzing when he takes
her in his arms and twirls her off the floor.]

[Scene: Veronica climbs over the wall to get a look inside. She walks by
some wooden cages when a hairy arm reaches out from the cage and grabs her
by he throat, she breaks free and turns around. Creatures are in cages
Veronica lights a torch to get a better look. Someone knocks her
unconscious with a piece of wood and she falls to the ground.]

[Scene: Morning Hargrove compound - Renata runs out of a hut.]

Renata: John! John! Veronica’s gone.

Challenger: Oh my God!

[Challenger and Roxton run to Veronica’s hut. Roxton leans down and looks
at the tracks by her entrance.]

Roxton: Ape-men

Challenger: And the tracks are still fresh.

Roxton: There’s still a good chance she’ll be alive. I’ll get the guns.

Renata: I’ll go with you.

Hargrove: No

Renata: I want to help.

Hargrove: It’s too dangerous I won’t permit it. Renata and I will stay in
case Veronica makes it back.

Challenger: All right…thank you.

Renata: The ape-men have never attacked the compound before, they wouldn’t
dare.

Hargrove: Get to the house.

[Scene: The trail to find the headphones - Marguerite slowly wakes and her
hands are tied. She sits up and we can see that Summerlee and Malone are
already awake similarly bound.]

Malone: Rise and shine

[The three watch as the woman goes through their belongings.]

Marguerite: Hey those are our things.

Woman: Who are you? What do you want?

Marguerite: A little blood circulation for starters. How about untying us?

Woman: Ah the dinosaurs – I remember you.

Summerlee: Exactly, but I can assure you we mean no harm.

[The woman walks over to the three and kneels down putting her nose to nose
with Marguerite.]

Woman: Hmmm a Chosen One [then in a whisper] Do the others know?

Marguerite: I beg your pardon?

Woman: And beautiful.

Marguerite: Oh thanks.

Woman: Not as beautiful as I once was.

Marguerite: I’m sure, incidentally about this little item around your neck?
[She reaches for the headphones and the woman jumps up away from
Marguerite]

Woman: Did you know that I was Queen of the nymphs and fairies?

Malone: Of course you were.

Woman: You! [She kneels down and is nose to nose with Malone, she grabs his
face] mortal man, you were my down fall.

Malone: Look lady I’ve never seen you before in my life.

Woman: One like you, I loved him and they cursed me. Exiled me to this
earth bound body.

Summerlee: Isn’t that always the way, but about those headphones…I?

Woman: Now I grow old like you and soon I will die; away from my home my
people……unless I can break the spell.

Marguerite: Tragic, now about that necklace of yours?

Woman: Ah you came to steal this.

Malone: No, no not steal it. We just want to know where you found it.

Woman: If I tell you will you help break the curse on me?

Marguerite: Yes of course, anything we can do anything at all.

Woman: I need several drops of blood……from a virgin.

Marguerite: Oh

Woman: Not you?

Marguerite: No

Summerlee: Oh Madam I.

Woman: Or you?

[Summerlee and Marguerite look over to Malone]

Malone: What?

[They begin to laugh]

Malone: What?

Woman: You.

[Malone looks annoyed.]

[Scene: Hargrove compound.]

Renata: I don’t know why you have to do this?

Hargrove: It was your carelessness that took us down this path my dear.

Renata: I told them not to go in the barn.

Hargrove: Don’t you see I’m doing this to protect us.

Renata: But he’s your friend.

Hargrove: It’s just like London all over again. They poke and pry and
disapprove and ask questions. They won’t stop until they’ve taken it all
away. Everything I’ve worked to build here gone.

Renata: I know father.

Hargrove: You don’t know! My dear child you must trust me on this. Let
father do what needs to be done.

[Hargrove releases the ape-men from the compound and sends them out to the
jungle to find Roxton and Challenger.

[Scene: The trail to find Veronica.]

Challenger: Where the hell are they taking her?

Roxton: The tracks are still fresh. We must be getting close. Wait!

Challenger: We haven’t got time.

Roxton: Dammit, I should have noticed it sooner.

Challenger: What?

Roxton: Take a look.

Challenger: They’re all ape-men tracks.

Roxton: That’s right, so where’s Veronica’s?

Challenger: Maybe one of them is carrying her.

Roxton: One set of tracks would be set deeper than the others.

Challenger: So either whoever we’re following doesn’t have her or…

Roxton: Or she’s already dead.

[Ape-men come out of the jungle and attack Roxton and Challenger. They fire
shots and hit the ape-men.]

Roxton: Dammit I don’t believe it they’re flanking us.

Challenger: Using military tactics that’s not possible.

Roxton: They’ve got guns.

Challenger: How the hell?

Roxton: They’re outmaneuvering us Challenger we’ll have to make a run for
it.

[The two take off running. They come to a cliff above a lake.]

Challenger: What now?

Roxton: Damn, where the hell did my ammo go?

Challenger: Dammit, Hargrove.

Roxton: It’s time to swim.

Challenger: The fall will surely kill us.

Roxton: Either we jump or we’re dinner.

[They both look at each other and jump off the cliff into the water below.]

[Scene: Hargrove compound - Veronica awakens in a cage. She sees another
cage across from her and an ape-man watching her. She tries to get out of
her cage. Hargrove approaches.]

Veronica: Let me out of here.

Hargrove: I’m afraid that’s impossible.

Veronica: What kind of a monster are you?

Hargrove: You and your friends are the real monsters; you would destroy
years of research; my whole life and Renata’s - crushed in an instant.

Veronica: What have you done with Challenger and Roxton?

Hargrove: This is the jungle; we do whatever’s necessary to survive.

Veronica: Challenger’s your friend.

Hargrove: Friends come and go. Only science stands the test of time. For
instance this creature; over the years I’ve been altering his genetic
structure. Just a couple more shots and he’ll be ready.

Veronica: Ready for what?

Hargrove: Breeding.

Veronica: That’s impossible.

Hargrove: Not anymore

Veronica: You wouldn’t.

Hargrove: Come now Veronica, smile, you’re about to become a mother.

[Fade Out]

[Scene: Roxton and Challenger drag themselves out of the lake. They climb
up to the shore and rest.]

Roxton: Well we made it. We’re still alive.

Challenger: How can you tell?

Roxton: I hurt too much to be dead. Besides even in hell ape-men men don’t
use guns.

Challenger: They do if they’ve been genetically altered. He’s a bloody
genius Hargrove.

Roxton: Are you saying he did this?

Challenger: What now?

Roxton: If the ape-men don’t have Veronica, Hargrove does, let’s go.

[Scene: The jungle clearing – Malone is hanging upside down by his feet.]

Malone: This is insane.

Marguerite: Hang on - it won’t be much longer.

Malone: I’m gonna pass out, all the blood’s rushing to my head.

Marguerite: It’s a small price to pay to get us home.

Malone: Yes, that’s easy for you to say. You’re not the one hanging upside
down.

[The woman walks over to Malone and pricks his finger.]

Malone: Ouch!

Marguerite: Oh please.

[A few drops of blood drip from Malone’s finger into a glass of water. The
fairy Queen takes a drink.]

Malone: Oh I’m going to be sick.

Summerlee: Ah my hip isn’t what it used to be and I don’t see as well at
night anymore. I was wondering would that concoction……?

Woman: You’re human aren’t you?

Summerlee: All too human I’m afraid.

Woman: Alas, it doesn’t work on mortal borns.

Summerlee: Pity [the woman walks off.]

Marguerite: Hey wait a minute, before you go rushing off to your fairy
prince.

Woman: King……fairy king.

Marguerite: Whatever, we had a deal.

Woman: What you seek is a five minute walk. No more - no less.

Malone: Hello, if it wouldn’t be too much to ask, would somebody get me the
hell down?

[Scene: Hargrove compound - Veronica warily eyes the creature in the next
cage. Renata approaches feeding the creatures in the cages.]

Veronica: Renata? Renata? Renata talk to me!

Renata: I thought you might be hungry.

Veronica: I’m not.

Renata: For later maybe.

Veronica: There isn’t going to be any later. Do you know what your
father’s going to do to me?

Renata: My father is a great man, a great scientist.

Veronica: Your father’s insane. He sent the ape-men to kill them, to kill
Roxton.

Renata: He’s just protecting himself, protecting me. You don’t understand
it’s because he has too. It’s London all over again.

Veronica: I don’t know what happened in London. All I know is if you don’t
help me, I’m dead. Please! Renata this isn’t right.

Renata: I can’t.

Veronica: Renata! Damn!

[Scene: The trail to find the radio - Malone, Marguerite and Summerlee,
come across a downed plane. The carcass of a dead dinosaur is lying next to
it.]

Marguerite: There it is. Keep an eye out for any unwanted visitors.

[They look inside the plane. Marguerite lifts the scull of the pilot from
the cockpit.]

Marguerite: Hmm not the first man to lose his head over me.

[She tosses the scull to Summerlee standing behind her.]

Summerlee: That’s not a very respectful way to treat the dead.

Marguerite: Give me a hand. Can we get the radio out?

Malone: It would be easier if I had more than this. [He handles a knife.]

Marguerite: It’s a poor workman who criticizes his tools.

[They turn when they hear a T-Rex approach.]

Summerlee: I’d hurry up if I were you. Anytime now……

Malone: If I break the damn thing taking it out it won’t be of much use.

Summerlee: If we get eaten it will be even less use.

Marguerite: If you would stop distracting him he might be able to finish.

Malone: I just need a minute.

[The T-Rex comes out of the bushes and approaches the three.]

Marguerite: Malone?

Malone: Almost there.

[The T-rex gets closer and Marguerite taps Malone on the shoulder]

Marguerite: Malone?

Malone: Got it.

[Malone turns around and sees the T-Rex. It startles him and he falls from
the plane dropping the radio, right into the carcass of the dead dinosaur.
Marguerite, keeping one eye on the live dinosaur, tries to go for the radio.
Summerlee grabs her arm to hold her back.]

Marguerite: Maybe if you distracted it.

Malone: How - by being lunch? Back away Marguerite it’s not worth it.

Marguerite: I can do it.

[She gets closer to the radio. The angry T-rex is within chomping
distance.]

Summerlee: It will kill you.

Marguerite: No, almost there.

Summerlee: No Marguerite!

[Summerlee shoots the radio causing it to catch on fire destroying it.]

Marguerite: Are you out of your mind that was our way home.

Summerlee: It wasn’t worth your life.

Marguerite: Dammit!

Malone: Let’s get out of here.

[Scene: The trail to find Veronica.]

Roxton: If Hargrove is such a genius; what’s he doing out here in the
middle of nowhere?

Challenger: His daughter was dying of a genetic disorder in London. He
abducted her from the hospital and experimented on her; desperate to save
her life.

Roxton: And he failed.

Challenger: Those same scientific fools in England who thought me mad
called it an act against nature. They forced the police to pursue him on
murder charges; then he just disappeared.

Roxton: Long way to run.

Challenger: I thought he was dead. I should have known better; William is
not the type to go quietly.

[The two stop when they hear ape-men about to cross their path. They duck
into the bushes. Challenger and Roxton attack the ape-men as they pass by.
They come to the outside of the compound.]

Challenger: My guess is Veronica is in the compound.

Roxton: We’ll have a hard time breaking her out with no ammunition.

[They see Renata coming down the path.]

Roxton: Careful Renata.

Challenger: I buried the real Renata fifteen years ago. I can only imagine
who she is.

Roxton: Yeah well right now she’s our only ticket into that place. [Roxton
grabs Renata from behind and puts his hand over her mouth.] Don’t scream I
won’t hurt you.

Renata: You’re alive!

Roxton: Just

Challenger: No thanks to Hargrove.

Renata: I didn’t want to be hurt you’ve got to believe me.

Roxton: Is Veronica in the compound?

Challenger: How do we get in?

Renata: The door.

Roxton: And the door’s locked.

Renata: I stole the key.

Challenger: Good girl.

Roxton: Why are you doing this?

Renata: For you.

[The three walk inside the compound and see Veronica in the cage.]

Veronica: No it’s a trap!

[Ape-men throw a net over Roxton and Challenger. Hargrove comes to stand
beside his daughter.]

Hargrove: You should have stayed in London

[Fade Out]

[Scene: Hargrove compound – Roxton, Challenger and Veronica are in the
cage.]

Roxton: So now what Hargrove?

Hargrove: Well science always needs martyrs. Just think of your sacrifice
as a pathway to immortality.

Challenger: You’ve gone mad William.

Hargrove: No need to be hostile after all George you’re the reason I’m
here.

Challenger: You can’t blame this on me.

Hargrove: Remember when I was the sane one and you were raving on about
your lost world. Well I thought what better place to hide then in a
madman’s dream. [Renata approaches] I told you to stay in your room.

Roxton: Why, so she won’t know the truth? He’s going to kill us Renata.

Renata: No he promised.

Veronica: He’s lied to you Renata; he’s lied all along.

Challenger: If you don’t tell her William I will.

Renata: Tell me what?

[Hargrove pulls a gun]

Hargrove: Not another word.

Renata: No!

[Renata hits the gun out of Hargrove’s hand. She picks it up and points it
at her father]

Veronica: Renata, give me the gun.

Renata: I want the truth father.

Challenger: He’s not your father child.

[Hargrove looks at Challenger]

Hargrove: You won’t live out the day.

Renata: What does he mean?

Challenger: I saw him bury his daughter in London fifteen years ago; she
was Renata.

Renata: Then who am I?

Hargrove: Your my blood; my genes.

Roxton: Renata, the ape-men we saved you from, they weren’t attacking you.
They were fighting each other for the right to mate with you.

Renata: So who was my mother?

Hargrove: It doesn’t matter.

Renata: Tell me!

[Renata looks behind him at the creatures in the cages and she comes to the
horrifying realization. She begins to cry and backs away. Renata is
grabbed from behind by a creature and it begins to choke her. She drops the
gun; Hargrove picks it up and shoots the creature in the shoulder. Renata
runs from the compound.]

Hargrove: I promise you won’t die quickly.

[Hargrove goes after his daughter.]

[Scene: The trail to the treehouse - Malone is standing by the river and
picks up the radio headphones as Marguerite and Summerlee approach.]

Malone: This adventure wasn’t a complete loss. She left us her necklace.

Marguerite: A lot of good that will do us.

Malone: I wonder where she is.

Marguerite: Oh she’s probably gone dancing with the sugar plum fairies.
Come on it’s a long walk home.

Summerlee: It doesn’t seem right to leave that old woman alone in the
woods.

Malone: After what she did to us; I think she can take care of herself.

Summerlee: Still wouldn’t it be grand if the spell really worked.

Woman’s voice: Of course it worked, I’m beautiful.

[Summerlee looks down in the water and sees a girl’s reflection twirling and
laughing. He looks up and sees her dancing down the trail, she disappears.]

Summerlee: Do you see that?

Malone: What?

Summerlee: The creature, the little girl.

Marguerite: What are you talking about?

Summerlee: The laughter, you didn’t hear it?

Malone: It’s been a long day Professor.

Marguerite: What exactly did you see?

Summerlee: Never mind.

[Scene: Hargrove compound - Hargrove enters his daughter’s hut. Renata is
tearing up her pink dress, she’s crying.]

Renata: Why didn’t you tell me?

Hargrove: I tried to tell you half a dozen times.

Renata: All these years, all these lies.

Hargrove: What does it matter you are what you are.

Renata: And what exactly is that father?

[Hargrove stands Renata in front of the mirror.]

Hargrove: Look at yourself, you’re beautiful

Renata: My mother was a beast, I’m a beast.

Hargrove: No, you’re a miracle - my miracle.

[Renata looks at herself in the mirror and starts to see the image of an ape
in place of her. She smashes the mirror horrified, she runs off crying.]

[Scene: The cage - Veronica, Challenger and Roxton are rocking the cage
back and forth in an attempt to escape. The creature in the other cage is
watching them.]

Challenger: Keep going it’s almost there.

Roxton: Ready

[The side of the cage falls apart. They tumble to the ground.]

Roxton: Let’s get the hell out of here.

Challenger: After you.

[They make their way to the exit. Renata meets them with their guns and
hands them over.]

Challenger: Thank you

[Challenger and Roxton come out blasting and take on the ape-men, Veronica
joins the fight. The creature in the cage is emulating what the others did
to escape rocking his cage back and forth.
Hargrove approaches ready to shoot the explorers when the freed creature
comes out of the compound. Renata comes up behind the creature and it grabs
her and throws her to the ground. Hargrove shoots the creature but it
advances on him and bites Hargrove on the neck throwing him to the ground.
Challenger shoots the creature and it rolls off Hargrove.]

Challenger: William?

Hargrove: All in the name of science, aye.

Renata: Father, Father?

Hargrove: I love you.

[Hargrove dies, Renata cries over his body.]

Renata: Now, no one can ever do this again.

Roxton: Come back with us.

Renata: I can’t

Roxton: Renata?

Renata: Please, all my life decisions have been made for me. I have
another woman’s name another woman’s memories.

Roxton: There is nothing left for you here.

Renata: It’s where I belong. Besides what would I do in your world?

Roxton: You could learn to dance.

Renata: Maybe, maybe someday when I know who I really am.

[Renata gives Roxton a hug and a kiss on the cheek.]

Renata: Thank you.
