There’s no way off this plateau from here. Malone: Where’s Marguerite? Maybe she’s had better luck. [Marguerite is digging out stones from the side of the cliff.] Roxton: Well well what a surprise. Marguerite: Just making the most out of a bad situation; why leave empty handed. [A dinosaur roars in the distance] Roxton: That’s reason enough for me but hey take your time. I’m sure it’s not as hungry as it sounds. Marguerite: It’s miles away. [The roar gets closer; she grabs her stuff and runs] Roxton wait for me. Marguerite: You forget who funded this expedition. Roxton: With you constantly reminding me how could I? Marguerite: Why are you always in such a hurry? Roxton: Because I’m trying to find a way home before we die out here. Marguerite: Well I for one intend to be rich when we get there. Malone: What the hell? Marguerite: Where’s that coming from? [A fog rolls in and envelops the three.] Marguerite: I don’t like this Roxton. Malone: Do you see something? Roxton: Just stay together. [The fog dissipates and the three are in a temple that resembles Stonehenge. Druids appear and grab Marguerite. They take her to their alter and put her down they flip her over onto her stomach. Marguerite screams. Roxton and Malone are powerless to help her being held by the Druids. A man stands over her and holds a knife over her back. He cuts open the back of her blouse exposing her birthmark.] Bokra: She has returned. Marguerite: You’re kidding right? Roxton: They look like Druids. Malone: They acting like you’re some sort of goddess. Roxton: Novel way to greet a deity. Marguerite: Maybe we should get out of here before they realize their mistake. Bokra: Not a goddess - a high priestess. Marguerite: And you would be? Bokra: I am Bokra and these are your people. Marguerite: My? Bokra: Lost in the cosmos for almost two thousand years. Roxton: How careless of you. Marguerite: It’s been a pleasure meeting you. We’ll have to do this again sometime. Bokra: But you bare the sign; the sun and moon the serpent. Marguerite: My birthmark. Bokra: Your birthright it is the sign of our people. Marguerite: Let’s get one thing straight you’re not my people. Bokra: Where you now see two torn ragged holes; two spectacular emeralds once shown. Marguerite: Emerald’s that large? Bokra: You are the only one who can bring them back for us. Roxton: Sounds like he’s got your number. Bokra: It is your destiny to retrieve them. To anchor us once again in one place in one time. Marguerite: Why me? Bokra: You are the reincarnation of Morrighan our priestess - our savior. Marguerite: Sorry but you must have me confused with some other priestess. You two coming? Malone: What happens if Marguerite doesn’t bring the emeralds back? Bokra: Then we are doomed. [Scene: Veronica is running in a clearing laughing, a dinosaur is chasing her. Challenger is waiting in front of her she passes him.] Veronica: Any time now. [Challenger shoots the dinosaur.] Challenger: Marvelous, bravo. Enough meat there for a month, but rather a dangerous way of hunting. Veronica: Only for the dinosaur. Challenger: I can’t argue with that. Now there’s just the small task of hauling it all the way back. Veronica: Shhh [A babies cries is in the distance] Challenger: What is it? Veronica: Hear that? Over there. [They find an infant boy lying in the bush rapped in cloth.] Veronica: Look at him. [Veronica picks the baby up.] Veronica: There, there it’s all right. Challenger: A baby here? That’s incredible. Where’d it come from? Veronica: He must have been abandoned. Challenger: Or lost which means its parents must be about here somewhere. Veronica: How could they leave you here? Don’t cry - don’t cry. Challenger: Veronica his parents can’t be far away. They’re probably looking for him right now. Where are you going? Veronica: Well we can’t just leave him here. Challenger: No of course not - what are we going to do with a baby. [Scene – The Druid alter. Marguerite is now dressed in a red top and skirt] Bokra: For centuries we’ve been praying for your return. Marguerite: Look you’ve been very kind the clothes are lovely, but my friends are waiting for me. Bokra: You think that life is just here and now? There is so much more. Marguerite: Yes I know – I’m a reincarnated priestess and you’re lost in time. Bokra: I understand your skepticism we defy all the laws of nature as you know them. Marguerite: Even as a child I never believed in fairy tales. Bokra: Then how do you explain us being here at all the. Marguerite: You make a hell of an entrance I’ll give you that. Bokra: Two thousand years ago our civilization was about to be annihilated. Only Morrighan could see beyond it only she could find a way to save us. Marguerite: By setting you a drift in another dimension. Bokra: For what seems like an eternity we’ve been fading in and out of existence waiting for Morrighan to return. Marguerite: I’m sorry, perhaps you can sell it to the next brunette that comes along. Bokra: I know you Marguerite. All your life you’ve been driven by something you don’t understand. An emptiness inside; a void that all the riches in the world will never fill. It is your destiny to save us; or at least to try. Our lives depend on you making a leap of faith. [Scene – The treehouse] Summerlee: Gracious me, who would leave a baby in the jungle he’d never survive a day? Challenger: My point exactly. His parents are obviously around here somewhere we must find them. Summerlee: I agree that’s the first thing we must do. The poor little dickens must be frightened out of his wits. Veronica: The first thing we need to do is wash and feed him. Challenger: Look at him Summerlee he’s obviously not a native. Summerlee: Yes he does look European I agree. Challenger: That means there must be another expedition on the plateau. Summerlee: And if they found a way up here maybe they know a way down. Challenger: Precisely Veronica: A mother would never leave her baby. Summerlee: Unless she was trying to protect it. Challenger: And what about the rest of the expedition? Summerlee: We have to try to find them. If they’re alive we might be able to help each other. Veronica: Or maybe they’re beyond help. [Scene: The Druid alter] Malone: So do you buy it? Roxton: Not on your life. Malone: Then what do you suppose their up to? Roxton: Dammed if I know some kind of mass hysteria; maybe we’ve been drugged. Malone: I’m starting to believe anything is possible here. Roxton: Her highness returns. Malone: Are you going to help them? Roxton: Marguerite help someone? Only if there’s a percentage in it for her. Marguerite: Then you’d better come along - just to keep me honest. Roxton: You can’t be serious? Malone: I think she is. Roxton: Marguerite? Marguerite: Where do we start? Roxton: We? Malone: I’m in. Roxton: Oh come on, you’re as crazy as she is. [Marguerite and Malone take a step back from the alter as Bokra raises his arms over the cauldron of fire.] Roxton: Oh what the hell. [Roxton joins them.] Bokra: When you take the first step the path will present itself. Roxton: I don’t like riddles. [Bokra rubs his hands over the fire.] Malone: Oh my God. Roxton: Here comes the fog. Malone: What now? Marguerite: We take the first step. Roxton: Can you see anything? Malone: Nothing but this fog. Roxton: I don’t like this. Marguerite: You can turn back. Roxton: There is no back. Malone: I don’t think there’s a forward either. [The fog dissipates - the three find themselves on a rocky shore by the ocean] Roxton: One hell of a first step. Malone: I don’t see any path. Marguerite: Look around. [Three dinosaurs appear] Marguerite: Let’s get out of here. Roxton: Good idea your worship. Which way would you suggest? [Fade Out] Marguerite: What are you waiting for – shoot! Roxton: I didn’t know you were that eager to die. Malone: They’re getting closer! [Marguerite steps closer and aims a gun.] Marguerite: Do I have to do everything myself. Roxton: Don’t! The smell of blood will drive them into a feeding frenzy. We won’t be able to take on all of them. Marguerite: Any ideas? Roxton: We stick together. [A dinosaur takes a swipe at Marguerite. Roxton hits the dinosaur in the face with the handle of his rifle.] Roxton: We’re dead meat out here in the open. Malone: If we can make it to those trees and find some cover; maybe we can make a stand. Roxton: Looks like our only option. No sudden moves nice and slow. Marguerite: I say we make a run for it. Roxton: Not yet. Malone: They’re going to be on us any second. Roxton: Don’t turn your back shown no fear. Marguerite: A trail – look! [They run for the trail, stop then turn around to see the dinosaurs have disappeared.] Malone: Where’d they go? Marguerite: It’s impossible. Roxton: It’s all impossible. Let’s get going before they decide to come back. [Scene: The treehouse. Veronica is gently stoking the babies head while he lies contently in a basket.] Summerlee: Is he alright? Veronica: He’s so beautiful. Summerlee: He is when he’s like this. Veronica: You’d cry too if you were hungry and alone. Summerlee: Well yes, I suppose I would. [Challenger steps off the elevator.] Challenger: I searched the entire area where we found. Veronica/Summerlee: Shhh Challenger: [whispers] Sign of any humans. Summerlee: Nothing at all? Challenger: The only foot prints I found belonged to ape-men. Veronica: How many? Challenger: I don’t know a lot around where we found the baby more on the trail to and they were fresh. Summerlee: Well, it appears that Veronica is right the ape-men May have killed the parents. Challenger: And not found the baby? Summerlee: What other explanation is there? Veronica: What should I call you? My father’s name was Tom. Challenger: He’s not a stray cat he’s not yours just because you found him. Veronica: Do you want me to put him back where we found him? Challenger: No, of course not. Summerlee: We have to go on searching for the parents. Veronica: They’re dead professor. Summerlee: You don’t actually know that. Veronica: This is my home and now it’s his. [Scene: Nighttime - the trail.] Roxton: So when are you going to tell me? Marguerite: Tell you what? Roxton: Why you decided to become Moses to lead the Druids to the Promised Land. Marguerite: Leading people on doomed expeditions is your forte - not mine. Roxton: Whatever you say your holiness. [They come to a fork in the trail that leads in two different directions.] Roxton: Looks like we have to make a choice. Malone: Now what? Roxton: Priestess! Marguerite: Philistine! Malone: You two go this way I’ll go the other; there’s gotta be a sign or something. Marguerite: I’m sure there will be. Roxton: Well that’s very reassuring. Meet back here - ten minutes. [Marguerite and Roxton are walking when they stop Marguerite gives Roxton her torch. She bends down to fix her boot then clips her garter. The slit up the shirt gives Roxton a view of her leg. He takes a peek.] Marguerite: See something you want? Roxton: What are you offering? Marguerite: More than you can handle I’m sure. Roxton: Oh from what I’ve seen I think I could manage. Marguerite: Manage? Is that the best you can do? Roxton: Hmmm where shall I begin? [They go in for a kiss but are interrupted when Malone yells for help in the distance.] Marguerite: Sounds serious. Roxton: Yeah [They run to Malone. Malone is buried up to his neck in quicksand.] Malone: Somebody - anybody help! Marguerite: What a mess how’d you end up in there? Malone: Just get me out! Roxton: Stay back. Malone: Where are you going? Roxton: I’m not going anywhere just stepping out of the quicksand. Malone: I’m sinking fast! Roxton: Don’t move you’re only going to make it worse. Marguerite lay down. Marguerite: What? Roxton: You’re going to have to stretch out to him. I’ll anchor your feet it’s the only way. Marguerite: Me stretch out in that? Roxton: Come on you’re wasting time. Marguerite: You do it. Roxton: I’m too heavy. It has to be you. Marguerite: Oh pl…. Malone: Marguerite PLEASE! Marguerite: Okay – okay – okay. [Marguerite stretches out with Roxton holding her feet.] Roxton: Right, down on your belly. Marguerite: This is disgusting. Malone: Marguerite you’re doing fine. Marguerite: I’m sinking! Roxton: Relax your body surrender to the quicksand. Marguerite: I’ll kill you for this Roxton I swear it. [Malone disappears below the quicksand with only his hand reaching up. Marguerite grabs Malone’s hand and pulls him up.] Malone: Thank you - thank you! [With Roxton pulling her legs they get Malone out. Exhausted from the exertion Marguerite leans against Roxton.] Malone: You know what? Roxton: What? Malone: I think it was the other fork. [Relieved they laugh – Marguerite reaches behind her and smears quicksand on Roxton’s face.] [Scene: Nighttime the treehouse - Veronica is singing to the baby.] Veronica: Lullaby close you eyes and dream of sunny skies. Challenger: First thing in the morning we begin the search again. Summerlee: Do you think we’ll find them? Challenger: Alive? Not likely. Summerlee: Just look at her she’s a natural mother almost makes me wish she could keep him. Challenger: Don’t you start. Summerlee: If it’s not too personal George, why did you and Jessie never have children? Challenger: It’s too personal Arthur. Summerlee: Sorry Challenger: One of us didn’t want any. [An ape-man drops from the ceiling in a rage. It knocked down Summerlee and fights with Challenger. Veronica tackles it she stabs him. Another ape-man takes the baby. Veronica runs to catch them but is stopped by Challenger.] Challenger: Where do you think you’re going? Veronica: Get out of my way! Challenger: Veronica no! Veronica: Let go of me! Summerlee: Wait till daylight we can’t track them at night. Veronica: I’m leaving now with or without you! [Scene: Daylight the trail - Two Vantu watch Malone, Roxton and Marguerite from a distance.] Malone: I could sure use a bath. Marguerite: How long have we been walking? Malone: Eleven hours since the quicksand. Marguerite: We don’t have much time. Roxton: If the Druids are in such a damn hurry to get their emeralds, why didn’t they just drop us a little closer? Marguerite: Because we have to prove we’re worthy. Malone: Of what? Marguerite: Staying alive. [Roxton grabs Marguerite and they fall to the ground as a Vantu shoots a dart at them.] Marguerite: What the hell are you doing? [Roxton shoots at the Vantu.] Malone: Headhunters [They run from the Vantu who give chase. Roxton shoots at the Vantu as they run. Marguerite trips, Roxton grabs her and they continue running. The three slow down when they notice they are not being chased anymore.] Malone: They’re gone. Roxton: I’ve had just about enough of this. What else are they going to throw at us? Marguerite: Don’t look at me. Roxton: Well who else should I look at? Marguerite: You didn’t have to come. Roxton: This whole thing is out of control. You know that dart was this close to killing you. Marguerite: It’s not your mission in life to protect me. Roxton: Protect you? It’s the rest of the world that needs protection from you. Marguerite: Just what’s that supposed to mean? Malone: Guys - I don’t thing now is the time for this. Roxton: It means you’re an overwhelming pain in the ass. [Malone sees two Vantu in the bushes watching them.] Malone: I think they want us to move along – now! [They move quickly along, the Vantu following slowly.] Roxton: Why do you believe anything the Druids have said to you is true? Marguerite: Because I can’t come up with anything else that explains all this. Maybe I want it to be true. Roxton: For someone who trusts no one she’s taking a hell of a lot on faith. [They continue on.] Roxton: What time is it? Malone: Ten minutes after the last time you asked. Roxton: We’re getting nowhere. Marguerite: We’re following the trail. Roxton: How do you know it’s the right trail? Malone: Maybe we missed something maybe we should turn around. Marguerite: We’re not turning around; this is the right way I’m sure of it. Roxton: How can you be sure? Marguerite: It’s the way we’ve been directed. The vicious little creatures on the beach; the quicksand; headhunters; they’ll be other signs. Malone: Hopefully more conventional ones. [They continue on. Roxton trails the others he senses something behind him but doesn’t stop. A translucent figure watches them from behind a tree.] [Fade Out] [Scene: The trail to the emeralds] Roxton: This forest is never ending. Marguerite: Patience, whatever needs to be revealed will be. Roxton: Words of wisdom? Look Marguerite just because some old Druid thinks you’re a high priestess doesn’t mean you are one. Malone: Maybe we should have gone around the quicksand? Marguerite: If you two want to turn around and go back; that’s fine with me. [The translucent figure is close by watching the three. Their voices sound like they are under water as the figure listens.] Marguerite: I’m going to visit the powder room then I’m going to get some emeralds. Malone: She’s taking this whole thing rather seriously don’t you think? Roxton: I don’t know what to think. [Back to normal voice.] Roxton: Magic fog; disappearing dino’s; emeralds the size of a man’s fist. It doesn’t make much sense to me. [The translucent figure turns into an exact duplicate of Marguerite.] Malone: There’s gotta be a rational explanation. Roxton: Let me know if you come up with one. [Figure/Marguerite walks up behind them.] Malone: That was quick. [Without a work it walks by them; they follow.] Malone: Have you noticed there’s no sign of any living creature; not a squirrel; not a bird. Just endless trees and so quiet - it gets to you after while. Roxton: I just hope this is leading somewhere. [Marguerite goes to where she left the men and looks around.] Marguerite: Roxton? Malone? What the hell you couldn’t even wait two minutes. [She goes to catch up.] [Scene: Challenger, Summerlee and Veronica are tracking the ape-men. Summerlee is out of breath.] Summerlee: Go on without me. I’ll catch up. Challenger: Two minutes Veronica. Veronica: The ape-men aren’t resting. Challenger: We’ve been tracking them all night. Veronica: They’re running we’re walking. Challenger: At least we know there’s only two of them. Veronica: So far. Summerlee: Yes but they’re heading away from the ape village not towards it. Veronica: So they’re going to eat Tommy on their own and not share him with the others. Challenger: Veronica, take it easy we will find him. Veronica: We better. Challenger: Feeling better? Summerlee: Yes but I’m worried; for all we know they could be leading us right into a trap. Challenger: That’s already occurred to me; not a pleasant thought. [Scene: faux Marguerite is walking briskly along the trail the men follow behind.] Malone: Do you think she knows where she’s going? Roxton: Seems to. Malone: Aren’t we heading back the same way we came? Roxton: Feels like we’re going in circles. Malone: Are you sure? Roxton: Aren’t you? Malone: Shouldn’t somebody tell her? Roxton: In the mood she’s in? Malone: Somebody’s gotta tell her. Roxton: Your funeral. Malone: Marguerite! [Malone runs to catch up to her.] Marguerite! [Faux Marguerite stops and pulls a thin tree out of the ground roots and all. She breaks it in two over her knee.] Malone: How in the world did you do that? [Faux Marguerite takes the tree and hits Malone with it. She pulls a knife from him and faces Roxton with it.] Roxton: What the hell are you doing? [It lunges at Roxton with the knife.] Roxton: Have you completely lost your mind? Drop the knife! Put it down! [It continues to lung at Roxton. He punches it sending it flying. Malone gets up. Roxton walks to the bushes but faux Marguerite has disappeared.] Malone: Where is she? Roxton: I don’t know; she’s disappeared. Are you alright? Malone: What did I say? [The real Marguerite appears startling the men.] Marguerite: Why did you turn down here? You’re going in circles. Roxton: Stop right there. Marguerite: First you abandon me now you’re gonna shoot me. Roxton: I said stay where you are. Marguerite: I will not put the gun down stop fooling around. Roxton: You tried to kill me. Marguerite: I tried to kill you? Malone: With my knife. Marguerite: Much as I may have been tempted to kill you from time to time, I have never acted on my impulses. Roxton: Sure looked like it to me. Marguerite: I left you alone for two minutes when I came back you were gone. I heard a commotion coming from what is obviously the wrong direction and here I am. Malone: Roxton there’s no blood on her face. There’s not a mark from where you hit her. Marguerite: You hit me? Malone: He had to. Marguerite: In the face? Roxton: She looked just like you. Malone: Absolutely identical. Marguerite: You’re hallucinating both of you. Roxton: I’m telling you we’re not alone. [Three translucent figures come at them.] Malone: There! Marguerite: Let’s get back to the trail. Roxton: On the double; keep you eyes open. [The three are stopped when the figures jump in front of them looking exactly like Malone and Roxton.] Roxton: Unbelievable [The real Roxton shoots the faux Malone and Roxton.] Malone: This is unreal. Marguerite: How many are there? Roxton: Too many. [Roxton pulls out a revolver for Marguerite to carry. More figures appear.] Malone: They’re everywhere. Marguerite: Run! [They are chased by the figures. Marguerite shoots the faux Malone and Roxton that jump in front of her.] Roxton: Ouch Malone: Tree! [Malone shoots the Marguerite figure as it jumps down from the tree. They make a run for it.] Malone: They’re still behind us. [They stop in a clearing] Marguerite: If they wanna kill me let ‘em. I’m done running. Roxton: We’ll make our stand here. Marguerite: Come on! Come and get us! Roxton? Roxton: Patience Marguerite: I don’t see any. Malone: Where the hell are they? Roxton: Stay here; don’t lose sight of me. Malone: Anything? Roxton: They’re gone. [Scene: The trail to find the baby.] Challenger: Summerlee? Summerlee: Shhh Challenger: What is it? Summerlee: I saw something. Look! [An ape-man is holding the baby rocking it] What’s she doing? Challenger: That’s incredible. Summerlee: It’s her baby? It can’t be. Challenger: It can’t be anything else. [Veronica approaches] Veronica: I lost her. Challenger: Shhh [Veronica can’t believe her eyes. Another ape-man comes up from behind. He attacks Veronica; Challenger shoots killing him.] Challenger: Are you alright? Veronica: Where is she? I have to find her! [Veronica runs off.] Summerlee: No wait! Challenger: Damn, if only I could’ve reasoned with him. Summerlee: You have no choice; it was either him or Veronica. Challenger: Let’s find her. [Scene: A stream - Malone and Marguerite are cleaning up. Roxton walks over to Marguerite and takes a sip of water from the stream.] Roxton: If anyone had told me about this place I’d have them committed. [Marguerite is looking at her reflection in the water.] Roxton: You okay? Marguerite: Fine Roxton: What is it? Now is not the time for secrets. Marguerite: What if they’re wrong? Roxton: Did you really believe you were the high priestess? Marguerite: If we don’t bring back the emeralds they’ll be lost. Roxton: And you’re concerned for their well being? Marguerite: Yes Roxton: Well no offence Marguerite but you are one of the most selfish, self-centered individuals I have ever known. Why do you care? Marguerite: No offence Roxton, but you wouldn’t understand. [A faux Malone and Malone shoots it.] Malone: Guys! Marguerite: Rest times over. Malone: Our friends are back. Roxton: I think they want us to go this way. [They run but stop when they come to the end of a cliff.] Roxton: Whoa Malone: Now what? Roxton: Must have missed a sign somewhere. Marguerite: I don’t think so. [Marguerite sees a statue with two emeralds stuck in it on the other side of the cliff.] Malone: The emeralds. [Fade Out] [The figures are creeping up on Marguerite, Roxton and Malone.] Malone: I don’t think they want us to go back. Roxton: We sure as hell aren’t going forward. Malone: We can’t hold them here. Roxton: We can until we’re out of bullets. Malone: And then what? Roxton: And then we think of something else. Now get ready. We’ll make a run for it before we use up all our ammunition. Malone: Not a chance. Roxton: It’s either that or learn to fly. What do you say Marguerite? [She’s not paying attention but looking at the statue on the other side of the cliff.] Roxton: Would you forget about the damn emeralds? [Marguerite can’t take her eyes off the emeralds. It’s as if she’s in a trance.] Bokra [voice over]: All your life you’ve been driven by something you don’t understand. It is your destiny to save us. Our lives depend on you making a leap of faith. [Marguerite walks toward the cliffs edge.] Roxton: Marguerite what are you doing? [She steps over the edge.] Roxton: Marguerite! [A bridge appears below her feet spanning to the other side of the ravine.] Roxton: I don’t believe it. Malone: Impossible Roxton: Evidently not. [The men follow behind Marguerite.] Roxton: How the hell did you know there was a bridge here? Marguerite: I didn’t. Malone: You must have seen it. Marguerite: Did you? Malone: Well no but that’s just my point. Marguerite: Save your point - to pry the emeralds loose. Roxton: Then all we have to do is get them back to the Druids. Malone: How hard can that be after what we’ve been through? [A wall of fire appears in front of them.] Roxton: Not another word Malone. [Scene: The trail to find the baby.] Summerlee: You’re quite sure we’re right? Challenger: What other explanation can there be? Summerlee: How are we going to tell her? Challenger: I don’t know; now’s a good a time as any. Veronica: She can’t be far. Challenger: She is running for her life. Veronica: Stealing my baby. Challenger: Not yours. Veronica: We’ve been through this. His mother is dead. Summerlee: No Veronica, I’m afraid she’s not. Veronica: What? Challenger: You saw them in the clearing. Summerlee: The baby wasn’t afraid of her because she’s his mother. Challenger: The one I shot that was his father. Veronica: No Challenger: You saw them Veronica she was nursing him. Veronica: But Tommy’s human you said it yourself. Summerlee: Not quite human but the next step in the evolutionary chain. Veronica: No I don’t believe it. Challenger: That is why the ape-man left him to die in the jungle because he’s different. Summerlee: The parents couldn’t let him die they came after him and they came after us. They loved him Veronica; his mother loves him. [Veronica runs off. She comes to a stop and finds the ape-man holding the baby high up a tree. She climbs up.] Veronica: I won’t hurt you. Just give me the baby. Give me the baby. [The ape-man backs away from Veronica.] Veronica: Give him to me. It’s okay, just give him to me. Just give me the baby. Give him to me! [The ape-man gets nervous and slips hanging from a branch with one arm holding the baby with the other.] Veronica: Take my hand. [She helps the ape-man up and realizes the truth.] [Scene: The cliff] Roxton: The Druids could have mentioned the bloody fire; beasts and savages are one thing. Marguerite: The only way is through the fire. Roxton: Oh yeah - after you. [Marguerite walks toward the fire.] Malone: Marguerite! Oh my God! Marguerite! Stop! Roxton: That isn’t Marguerite - its Morrighan. [She walks through the fire and reaches for the emeralds.] [Scene: The Druid alter; the emeralds in their rightful place.] Marguerite: What happens now? Bokra: Now that you have made the leap; this is only part of your destiny. The rest will reveal itself in time. Marguerite: I don’t understand why can’t you tell me now? Bokra: You have given us life. We must return to a time where we can flourish. A moment in history - a place called Stonehenge. Marguerite: What about me? Bokra: When we go history will have changed. It would be as if we have never been here at all. May the Gods be with you Marguerite and the spirit of Morrighan guide you. Marguerite: Wait! [The fog appears and Marguerite reaches out to Bokra through it. The fog dissipates the three are in the same spot were the fog first took them. It’s still night; they are unaware of all that has happened it’s as if they never left that spot. Marguerite and Roxton are holding hands.] Roxton: Frightened of a little fog? [Marguerite lets go of Roxton’s hand.] Marguerite: I couldn’t see where I was going that’s all. Malone: It was pretty thick there for a minute. Roxton: Let’s get back to the balloon. There’s should be just time enough to investigate the peninsula. Provided we don’t stop for any geological specimens. Marguerite: I still have plenty of room. Roxton: Can’t you think of anything else? Marguerite: Not at the moment. Roxton: Let’s go. [Marguerite doesn’t follow the others right off] Any day now. [Marguerite runs to catch up.] [Epilogue] [Scene: Nighttime the treehouse - Roxton, Malone and Marguerite step off the elevator.] Summerlee: And how far did you get? Roxton: The northern caves and a little beyond. Challenger: Nothing Malone: Less than nothing. Marguerite: Not a total loss [Marguerite pulls out one of the stones she dug out of the edge of the cliff] Seems smaller than I remember. Roxton: So anything happen here. Summerlee: Oh we’ve had quite the adventure. [Veronica is walking outside the treehouse. The ape-man mother appears and lets Veronica see the baby one last time.] End of episode
