Previously on Laguna Beach…

LC: (V.O.) (Shows LC and Stephen in LA) I was excited to go to the fashion show in LA. But I was more excited to spending some time with Stephen.

Stephen: Are you ready honey? (LC laughs)

LC: (V.O.) We were having fun checking out all the models, until one started checking out Stephen.

LC: (Shows LC in her car watching Stephen) Okay I am so hurting right now. Stephen’s got like three models around him. This sucks.

LC: (V.O.) (Shows Stephen out with Kristin) And to make matters worse, the next day, Stephen went running back to Kristin.

Stephen: So do you wanna go home after this?

LC: (V.O.) (Shows Lo and LC go in a nail salon that Christina and Morgan are in) And Lo and I were about to find out we’re on the “I forgot you” list for Christina’s 18th birthday (Shows her party)

CUT TO: Christina’s House

Donna: I’m so proud of you honey. Here you’re 18 and tonight you’re gonna have your own birthday party without your parents there for the first time. I know you’re gonna have a great time. So I have a big surprise. Know how you’re going to New York for your spring break for 4 days next week? You’re going to Manhattan?

Christina: Yeah.

Donna: Well, this is probably a really great birthday present.

Christina: What is it?

Donna: Well there’s a casting director and she’s actually a casting director for on Broadway shows. You have an opportunity to have an audition.

Christina: What?

Donna: At 10:15 in the morning, Wednesday.

Christina: What?

Donna: You have an audition for Wicked, Rent, or Hairspray. We’re not sure which. Wednesday morning, 10:15.

Christina: What?

Donna: Yes.

Christina: What do I do?

Donna: You just sing your heart out. You just be yourself. Just be Christina. (She hugs Christina) I know.

Opening Credits

CUT TO: Christina’s Car

Morgan is getting in.

Morgan: Hey Birthday girl.

Christina: Hi. Look how cute my present is. Just kidding. Okay. So we’re leaving for New York on Monday.

Morgan: I’m so excited.

Christina: It’s weird that it’s finally here. Okay how is my audition?

Morgan: I know. Seriously Christina this could be like your big break.

Christina: I called my voice coach and I was like “Um…I need a lesson tomorrow”.

Morgan: Yeah get on that.

Christina: Like badly.

Morgan: So are you excited for tonight?

Christina: I’m really excited.

Morgan: Yeah, it’ll be so much fun.

Christina: I know.

Morgan: I just think that if you invited Lauren and Lo, I don’t know, the group I guess would have been random.

Christina: Plus, we’re not even that good friends with Lo and Lauren.

Morgan: Like growing apart.

Christina: Like we never talk to them. Besides we weren’t invited to their birthday.

Morgan: Yeah. Yeah!

CUT TO: The Mall

LC and Lo are shopping

Lo: Is it just me or have Christina and Morgan been really retarded lately?

LC: I don’t know. Morgan kept on telling me, she’s like “I like you better when you’re not around your friends”. I was like wait.

Lo: Wait. Whoa, whoa, whoa. She likes you better when she’s not around like me?

LC: Yeah.

Lo: When you’re not around me?

LC: Yeah. “I just don’t like you Lo”. (They walk in a store)

Woman: Hello

Lo: Hello. (They look at makeup) She just talks.

LC: I don’t know.

Lo: I don’t know what it is but just lately they’ve been not that nice like not that friendly.

LC: Mean.

Lo: Kind of like stand offish.

LC: Guess what color lip gloss I’m wearing? Two faced.

Lo: Hmm…I can think of a person just like that.

CUT TO: Christina’s Birthday Party

Christina: Oh my gosh. It’s my birthday.

Kristin: Hot guys at the table to the left. What up? They’re all hot, they know it. Wait, what’s going on? Oh he’s cute. Oh my god. Oh my god.

Alex: The girl, which do you think is her boyfriend? (Christina shrugs)

Kristin: Let’s write him a note. Do you have a pen? Here I do. I can’t believe I’m doing this. (Kristin takes out a note)

Christina: Wait, what?

Gary: We’re gonna write him a note.

Christina: What?

Kristin: What should I say? Okay, Gary help me.

Gary: Okay. “You are extremely sexy”.

Kristin: Extremely…

Gary: “If you are single let me know and send this back with the waitress”.

Alex: Who’s gonna put the note on there?

Kristin: The waitress.

Gary: Wait, how do you spell…(makes a kissing sound)?

Alex: S.W.A.K. (They laugh)

Christina: Get it kicked out of the birthday party. (The guy looks at Kristin)

Kristin: Oh my god, I’m nervous.

Alex: Hey waitress. Just give it to him.

Christina: But say it’s from me (points at Kristin) and not her.

Kristin: He already knows. I think she’s reading it out loud.

Gary: Let me protect you. (The guy gets up and goes over to them)

Kristin: He’s hot. (Shakes his hand) I’m Kristin.

Guy: Kristin, nice to meet you.

Kristin: You too.

Guy: What are you guys up to tonight?

Kristin: (Points at Christina) It’s her 18th birthday.

Guy: 18th birthday.

Kristin: Yeah we all think you’re pretty.

Guy: Wow. How old are you? (Everyone starts laughing)

CUT TO: Trey’s House

The guys are hanging out. Trey is hitting Stephen.

Trey: Don’t touch that area.

Polster: Guys, guys come on. Love one another. (A phone rings. They laugh)

Dieter: We’re just studying. (Stephen laughs) Why do you sound so bitter? Let me call you back.

Stephen: No, no, that’s a huge part of having a girlfriend. You gotta be able to hang out with your bros.

Trey: Kristin’s cool, dude.

Stephen: I know.

Trey: But I mean like…

Stephen: But I think me and her might be going back out again. But I think it’ll be something completely different. I don’t know. We’ll see what happens. I wanna hang out with her a lot this summer.

Polster: Kristin’s a dope chick.

Stephen: Yeah she’s cool. Yeah, it’ll be good this time. I’m learning a lot with that chick so I know what to do and what not to do.

CUT TO: Party

Kristin’s getting his number.

Guy: 5257? (She nods)

Christina: How come it’s my birthday and you get the guy? (Everyone gets up and dances)

CUT TO: LC’s House

They are having a family dinner

Jim: So um what’s the deal? Making progress with your grades today? Any notes? No?

Kathy: What happens when you don’t get a note? You get the lecture.

Jim: You know Lauren, I understand this is a throwaway year okay? But you can get C’s. C’s are fine, okay? Anything below a C is not fine.

LC: The point is there’s so little motivation for me to do well in school. I will get my C’s in my class, I will pass, I will graduate. That’s not a problem. I promise you I will do that.

Jim: Do what you gotta do. ‘Cause you’re in jail till you get it up.

LC: Are you serious?

Jim: Absolutely. You can’t have grades like that. Get it up. You can’t have a grade below a C or you’re in jail, so get it up.

CUT TO: Party

Everyone is leaving.

Christina: This was so fun. Don’t you think it was fun?

Morgan: It was fun. It was a good birthday.

Christina: It was perfect. This was so nice of you.

Morgan: Well you deserve it. Hello, you’d do the same for me.

Christina: I wouldn’t. No just kidding. (They laugh)

Morgan: I was thinking about it and I was like looking around at everyone + I was just like “I’m so grateful Christina is my best friend”. Like seriously though, it’s like good to have someone that like backs me up or supports me in my decisions or just like with church and like morals and like just being like the only virgin of all my friends, you know?

Christina: We share that.

Morgan: Exactly. We connect on that level. I’m just so glad it works out, you know? I love you. (They hug)

Christina: Honestly, I couldn’t ask for a better friend than you. I really couldn’t. (They put their stuff in the car and leave)

CUT TO: LC’s House

LC: Daddy, Lo thinks I shouldn’t be grounded.

Lo: I think that Lauren should not be grounded.

Jim: I’m willing to listen to your argument.

Lo: Well Jim, I think it’s second semester senior year.

Jim: Yes.

Lo: LC is a wonderful person.

Jim: She’s a great kid.

Lo: I don’t think that her grades reflect on her as a person. I don’t think she’s a bad kid. Jim please just let her come out with me.

Jim: Hey Lo, can you and Lauren go talk to Mr. Owlez and see if you can do some kind of special project?

LC: He won’t.

Lo: He won’t let us do anything like that.

Jim: Are you sure?

Lo: Positive.

Jim: Did you ask him before?

Lo: 98% Positive.

Jim: (Holds up two fingers) Well then you got a 2% chance. Make it happen Lo. You can do it. You and Lauren can be very persuasive.

LC: This is you ruining my senior year.

Jim: It is not. You know what? It’s…

LC: “This is your senior year, you’re gonna cruise, you know? Don’t worry about grades”. And then when my grades come, be like “You’re not gonna cruise, you’re grounded”.

Kathy: Why are we ruining it when you’re the one who brought in those grades?

LC: Because you told me that I was gonna cruise.

Kathy: You can cruise, but you can not get D’s and F’s. That’s not cruising, that’s failing.

Lo: Yeah, she does have a point. I’m sorry she does.  I want you to be able to come out with me, duh!

LC: Hey Lo.

Lo: Sorry I tried. Your mom does have a point though you shouldn’t be failing. I’m sorry. Just don’t fail your classes.

LC: Lo, you suck.

Lo: Stop failing, go out.

CUT TO: A Nail Salon

Christina and Morgan are in there.

Morgan: Hi.

Christina: Hello.

Morgan: Good. We have an appointment. Morgan and Christina.

Woman: You want to pick your polish?

Christina: I’ll just get a french.

Morgan: I want the hot pink. Don’t get french on your toes. It looks like your toes are your fingers.

Christina: I know. I have it right now.

Morgan: (Moves her pants up) Look how dry my legs are. I’m so stoked you know what I mean? I love how we picked New York over Cabo you know?

Christina: Just to get away from all those people too.

Morgan: Although my dad doesn’t wanna it to be like that. He was like giving me scenarios. “You’re walking down the street Morgan and like a man grabs you guys and pulls you into an alley and you know has a gun to your head and like takes your bags or whatever”.

Christina: Holds a gun to your head?

Morgan: Okay maybe I added the gun. (Christina laughs)

Christina: Do you think Lo and LC know about the party last night?

Morgan: Probably. I mean like everyone went.

Christina: Oh well. (Lo and LC walk in. Christina and Morgan look at each other)

Lo: Hi.

Christina: Hey guys.

Lo: Good how are you?

Christina: Good.

Morgan: When do you guys leave for Cabo?

LC: Tomorrow morning.

Lo: You’re not going to Cabo.

Morgan: I know.

Christina: You leave tomorrow? How exciting.

Lo: Where are you guys going?

Christina: New York.

Morgan: Whoo! Yeah!

LC: I like your earrings Christina.

Lo: Were they a birthday gift?

Christina: Yeah Gary gave them to me. Matching green shirt.

Lo: Of course a matching green shirt.

LC: I don’t know what color I want. (She gets up)

Morgan: Christina did you tell them about your Broadway?

Christina: No.

Morgan: Tell them. Hey guys guess what Christina gets to do.

Lo: What?

Christina: Guess what I get to do in New York.

Lo: What do you get to do in New York?

Christina: I have an audition with the casting director who casts Wicked, Rent, and Hairspray.

Lo: Are you serious? Oh my goodness. She got an audition for Broadway.

LC: What’s Wicked?

Christina: They’re a show. Like the top shows that are on there.

Lo; What about SMU? Did you get in?

Christina: Yeah.

Lo: Oh thank god.

Christina: Did you get in SC? (Lo shakes her head) You didn’t? (She shakes it again) Oh. I’m sorry.

Lo: I’m crying.

LC: Is there two trays open?

Lo: Um, I’ll go. Can I start?

Woman: Yes.

Lo: Okay.

Morgan: I’ll be out in like two seconds.

LC: So yeah. (Lo sits in the chair)

Christina: You’re still going to that fashion school right, Lauren?

LC: It’s an art school.

Christina: Art school, fashion school, whatever. Oh I’m supposed to be at work right now.

Lo: Where does she work?

Christina: A flower shop.

LC: Christina where do you work?

Christina: A flower shop. I don’t think it’s gonna work for me.

(She gets up) Bye guys.

Lo: Have fun at work.

LC: See you in a week.

Christina: Have fun.

LC: See you.

Christina: Bye. (She leaves)

Morgan: Oh I love these shoes. I’m so wearing this to the beach.

LC: Let me see them.

Lo: Oh I want some.

LC: You’ll get ‘em, you’ll get ‘em. (LC sits where Morgan was)

Morgan: Have fun in Cabo.

Lo: Bye.

LC: Bye. See you in a week.

Lo: Have fun in New York. (Morgan leaves)

CUT TO: Airplane

It shows Morgan and Christina on their flight to New York

CUT TO: New York

They’re on their way to the hotel

Christina: Ooh, I see our hotel. The big W. (They get out of the cab)

CUT TO: Their hotel room

Christina: Holy crap! Look at our view Morgan.

Morgan: Time square is right there. Don’t you have to call your Broadway lady?

Christina: Crap, yeah I do. (She listens to the lady) Yeah okay.

Woman: Try to get here five minutes early.

Christina: Okay.

Woman: Have a good night.

Christina: You too. Bye. (She hangs up) Wow. Oh god.

Morgan: Sounds pretty hard.

Christina: I know. (She lies on the bed) I don’t want to do this.

Morgan: Yeah you do. You’ll be happier once you did it. Be happy Christina. Get excited. This is rad.

Christina: I’m happy. I know. I’m excited about it. I’m happy.

Morgan: Okay.

Christina: Should we go?

Morgan: What are you thinking right now?

Christina: I don’t know.

CUT TO: Laguna – LC goes to dinner with Talan.

LC: You’re smart Talan.

Talan: Yeah I’m smart. I’m gifted. I just don’t use my talents.

LC: Oh yeah. Me too. So I got a note that said I was in danger of failing.

Talan: If you fail can you not go to art school?

LC: I can’t graduate.

Talan: No way. No way. So you can’t walk down the aisle with all your friends? (She shakes her head) And the arches?

LC: I’m gonna graduate.

Talan: You will. You’ll graduate. If you need my help you know where to call me.

LC: Yeah.

Talan: You know I’m probably in the same predicament. You excited to go to college?

LC: I’m so excited.

Talan: I don’t want to go to college. I want to be a high schooler six years.

LC: No way. I want to go. Believe me last year it was “I don’t want to leave my friends”. Yeah. You will be…

Talan: It’s not my friends. It’s just like…I don’t know. I just can’t leave. I just can’t leave. I don’t know. It seems like there’s a whole toss up between you, me, Stephen, and Kristin.

LC: I don’t know. They just…I can’t stand being around those two. ‘Cause all they do is fight. And I don’t really like Stephen when he’s around her.

Talan: Really?

LC: I’ve seen her fight so many girls. I don’t know.

Talan: She’s fun.

LC: She’s fun?

Talan: Yeah.

LC: I constantly hear him saying like “I want to get away from this, I want to get away from Kristin, I don’t want to be with Kristin”. I’m sick of it. You know what?

Talan: Love’s a hard thing to break.

LC: Yeah.

CUT TO: New York

Morgan: You’re nervous about tomorrow morning. It’s crazy girl. You’re gonna be on Broadway.

Christina: Ugh, stop saying that.

Morgan: Okay but say, just hypothetically, that you get this Broadway.

Christina: I don’t want to talk about this.

Morgan: I know. But just what would you do?

Christina: I don’t want to talk about it.

Morgan: Hypothetically.

Christina: I don’t want to talk about it.

Morgan; Would you move here?

Christina: I don’t want to talk about it.

Morgan: Why not?

Christina: I just don’t wanna talk about it.

Morgan: But I don’t understand why not.

Christina: I just don’t wanna talk about it Morgan.

CUT TO: The Next Morning – Christina’s Audition

Morgan: Whoo! Your audition today.

Christina: Yeah.

Morgan: Get that voice warmed up baby. (They go in the building)

Christina: I have an audition at 10:15. (To a girl) So what are you auditioning for?

Girl: For Rent.

Christina: Oh.

Girl: It’s impossible not to be nervous.

Bethany: Christina?

Christina: Yeah.

Bethany: Are you ready?

Christina: Uh huh.

Bethany: Come on in.

Christina: Hello.

Bethany: Give your music to Eddie.

Christina: Hello. (Gives it to him. The music starts to play. It shows Morgan listening) (Singing) I give you my destiny. I’m giving you all of me. I want your symphony singing in all that I am. At the top of my lungs, I’m giving it back. And I lay my head down and lift my hands and pray to be only yours. I pray to be only yours. I know now you’re my only hope. (The playing stops)

Bethany: Nice job.

Christina: Thank you.

Bethany: You sound great. You have a beautiful voice.

Christina: Thank you.

Bethany: Great presence.

Christina: Thank you.

Bethany: But do you mind if I give you a little advice?

Christina: Oh no. I’d love that yeah.

Bethany: Okay great. Luckily today I had plenty of time but without a doubt any other audition that you would go into you have cut off about 2 and a half minutes ago because that’s too long of an audition. Aside from just having a beautiful voice and looking great, you’re really seeming confident which you did, which is great. What we’re looking for is someone who really captures a character and someone whose really committed too acting and takes risks and raises the stakes, okay?

Christina: Uh huh.

Bethany: You know what I mean?

Christina: Yeah.

Bethany: Keep working on that because you sound great.

Christina: Thank you so much. Thanks for your time.

Bethany: Yeah.

Christina: It was a great opportunity, thank you.

Bethany: Yeah.

Christina: Okay. (She takes her music and leaves) (To a girl) Good luck.

Morgan: How did it go? Well?

Christina: It was fun. Let’s go sight seeing now.

Morgan: Yeah. (At the end we hear Christina sing)

The End
