Scene: Outside a burning building.

(The ambulance pulls up, lights flashing, sirens blaring. They squad gets out and starts unloading the back.)

Tyler: What's the ETA on the fire department?!

Hank: The ETA is five minutes! They're as busy as we are.

Jamie: Two fires in one night.

Val: Talk about bad luck. (Close the back doors of the ambulance.)

(Val and Hank go over to a woman and her child on the ground.)

Val: Okay Ma'am, we're with Kingsport EMS. We're going to take care of her now, okay?

(Tyler and Jamie run over to where a woman is fighting to get back to the building. She's upset. They hold her back.)

Tyler: Ma'am relax. We're here to help you.

Woman: Casey! My little boy! He must have gone back in. (Jamie looks back at the building.)

Jamie: He went in there?! Are you sure?

Woman: (Coughing and nodding.) For his teddy bear. He kept asking where it was. I only turned around for a second.

Jamie: Hold on a minute okay? (Jamie leaves. Tyler puts on oxygen mask over her nose and mouth.)

Tyler: Relax and breathe.

(Cut over to Hank and Val.)

Hank: Just try to breathe normal. You'll be fine.

Jamie: (Runs up to them.) Guys, that lady says her little kid's in there.

Val: Oh no.

Jamie: What do we do?

Hank: (Hesitates.) Fire department's on it's way.

Jamie: What if they get here too late?

Hank: Too dangerous. Okay, we have a lot of injured people out here and we don't have fire rescue training. We need your help.

(Cut to Tyler. The Woman struggles out of the oxygen mask.)

Woman: Casey!

Jamie: (Looks over.) So does she. (Takes of running toward the building.)

Val: Jamie. (He goes in the building.) Jamie!

Woman: Casey!

Tyler: Just relax.

Val: (Looks over at Hank. He's stunned and still staring after Jamie. Val's worried.) Hank?

Scene: Inside the apartments.

(It's hazy with smoke. The smoke alarm is beeping. Jamie opens a door and looks around with a flashlight.)

Jamie: Casey? Casey? Where are ya buddy? (Opens a door and recoils back. Goes another direction.) Casey, come on. (Hears coughing. A little boy walks out carrying a teddy bear. He's in his pyjamas.) Casey.

Casey: Mommy.

Jamie: (Picks up the kid.) Come on buddy. It's time to go, you're mom's all worried about you. Come on. (They leave.)

("Smile" by Olive plays. The fire department is there now. The woman is still struggling against Tyler. Jamie and comes out of the building carrying Casey. Val and Hank look up.)

Woman: Casey!

(Sparks fly behind Jamie and he dodges them.)

Jamie: You're lucky you're okay. Don't ever go in a burning building again, okay? Do you understand?

Woman: (Breaks away from Tyler and runs to her son.) Casey!

Jamie: Go to your mom, there's your mom. (She takes Casey in her arms. Tyler watches, smiling. Val and Hank keep watching. Casey's mom kisses her son. A photographer takes a picture of Jamie looking at Casey and his mom together. The image on the screen freezes and changes to black and white.)

[Opening Credits]

Stock Shot: Ambulance backing into the garage. Day.

Scene: Station common room.

(Val, Hank and Tyler are watching Alex lecture Jamie.)

Alex: (Pacing back and forth.) Look, you could have been seriously injured or worse.

Jamie: Yeah, but I wasn't.

Alex: And I'm glad but you're missing the point. By violating procedure you put yourself and the little boy in jeopardy. Just leave the heroism to the professionals.

Jamie: And what if the professionals get there too late?

Alex: Look, it was a very brave thing you did, Jamie. I know that. But we have these rules because they work. You can't just improvise. The stakes are too high.

Brooke: (Enters.) Hey, what's going on?

Tyler: Well, Jamie's getting scolded again.

Alex: (Frustrated.) Look Tyler, I am not scolding anybody. I just want you all to understand the possible consequences of (Looks at the newspaper he's holding and stops abruptly.)

Hank: What's wrong Alex?

(Alex sighs and reluctantly holds up the paper. The picture that the reporter took is on the front page with the headline "Teen hero rescues child from fire.')

Val: Oh my gosh.

Hank: (Takes the paper. Surprised.) Jamie made the front page.

Jamie: (Shocked.) What?! (Snatches the paper from Hank.)

Tyler: The front page?

Jamie: Well, that's a first for not even being accused of anything.

Alex: (Takes his paper back.) Look, front page or not. No more breaking the rules. (Walks away with the paper.)

Jamie: Hey! I was reading that! (Grabs his leather jacket and bike helmet.)

Tyler: Well, I guess we're done here.

Val: Hey Jamie, where you going?

Jamie: To get more papers. (Closes the door behind him.)

Stock Shot: Outside station. Day.

Scene: Outside station.

(Brooke is walking on the sidewalk and stops suddenly.)

Brooke: What the. . . ? (There's a small, almost hairless dog sniffing a newspaper.) Oh my gosh. (Walks closer to the dog and bends down.) Oh my gosh. Hey, you are the saddest looking little thing. (Picks him up.) Where on earth did you come from?

Scene: Station common room.

(Brooke nervously sets a bowl of water down by the dog, who starts drinking. They're right behind Alex.)

Brooke: Alex, there's something I have to show you.

Alex: (Turns.) Yeah. (Starts walking. Almost trips over the dog. Stumbles trying to avoid stepping on it.) Whoa whoa whoa, what it that, a rat?

Brooke: No, no it's not a rat. It's a dog. I found him outside. Isn't he cute?

Alex: No, no that that thing is filthy and he doesn't have any tags. You've gotta get him to the pound.

Brooke: Well what if he belongs to someone?

Alex: That's not likely. If you're worried, put an ad in the paper. Just get him out of here.

Scene: School hallway.

(In Jamie's point of view. People keep staring at him.)

Girl: Hi.

Guy: Hey dude, what's going on.

(Someone give him a double thumbs up. We see Caitie and Jamie walking together.)

Caitie: Okay, what's uh, what's going on?

Jamie: I guess they saw me in the paper.

Caitie: Ugh, Isn't it creepy to have everyone, like, looking at you like that?

Jamie: I guess I don't mind it so much. (Linda grins.)

Melaine: (Runs up behind him and gets in front of him. She's excited.) Jamie, you are such a celebrity now, like the Keanu Reeves of Kingsport.

Caitie: (Looks at Jamie. Laughs.) Wow.

Jamie: (Modest.) Look, I was just doing my job, Mel.

Melaine: Wow, the humble hero. Wait, that's the perfect title.

Jamie: Title?

Melaine: I just got approved to do an article on you for the school paper. Front page. Can you believe it? I'm doing a front page story.

Jamie: (Not sincere.) Whoa. (A beat.) Look, it's too weird. I'd just prefer to let it die. Thanks but no thanks. (He and Caitie walk away.)

Melaine: 1984. Jamie Waite. Winner of Kingsport's 'Most Adorable Baby' contest. (Jamie slowly pivots and glares. Caitie laughs.) I do my research. You should see the pictures. Especially the one with you with the long curly hair.

Caitie: (Tickles him under the chin with her index finder.) Coochie coochie coo.

Jamie: (Serious and quiet.) You don't know how long it took me to live that down. It was a nightmare. (Desperate.) You can't tell anyone.

Melaine: (Smugly.) I don't how it could come up. As long as I get my front page story on the humble hero.

Jamie: Fine. Just not one mention.

Melaine: No one will ever know. This is gonna be so cool.

Jamie: (Whirls around to face Caitie, who's laughing. Threatening.) If you breathe a word of this you are history.

Pretty Girl: (Off screen.) Hi Hero.

Jamie: (Stunned.) Hi.

Pretty Girl: I just got tickets to the Rage In A Bottle concert and I was wondering if you would maybe like to go with me?

Jamie: (Stunned. Unsure. Stuttering.) Rage In A Bottle? Sh. . . sh. . . sh. . . sure.

Caitie: Okay, I'll uh, catch you later, Baby. (Pats his stomach and walks away.)

Scene: Hank's locker.

(Hank is opening his locker. Val and Tyler are waiting for him. Caitie walks up.)

Caitie: Hey guys.

Val: Hey, what's up?

Caitie: Melanie Chaun is doing this article on Jamie for the school paper. So uh, he's all. . . you know.

Tyler: Just Jamie?

Caitie: You know what? Don't blow a brain cell over this, really, like who cares about this stuff?

Val: You know what guys? Caitie is totally right. This is great publicity for the program and everything else is really just. . . irrelevant.

Jamie: (Off screen. Hank hears him.) So I entered the building. I was looking around frantically for the boy. (Camera cuts to him and we see there's a crowd of people around him.) And I. . . I knew that somehow, something was not going to let me miss him.

Caitie: (Turns to Val, Hank and Tyler.) Birth of a media monster.

Girl: (To Jamie. Off screen.) You're incredible.

Scene: Lanier bathroom.

(There's a towel on the floor and lots of dog footprints. Jasper is sitting on towels in the sink. Brooke is grooming him.)

Brooke: Now I've got to hide you before mom and dad get home. But Jasper, you are going to look like a brand new dog. (The little tuft of hair he's got on the top of his head is done in a Mohawk style. Brooke holds up a mirror.) What do you think? (Jasper barks. She crinkles her nose.) Yeah, you're right. Too much. (Smoothes his hair down.) Better?

(Brooke's parents come home. Joanna says something to Steve. They had a good time.)

Brooke: (To Jasper.) What are they doing home so early.

Joanna: We're back! (Hang up their jackets.)

Steve: Girls?!

Joanna: Anybody home?

Brooke: Val's out! It's. . It's just me! All alone! (We see her putting Jasper in the bathtub. To Jasper.) Now I've gotta wipe up the floor. Whatever you do, don't move. (She closes the curtain on him.)

Joanna: Brooke?

Brooke: (Quickly.) What! (She's on her hands and knees cleaning the floor.) Oh, you, you startled me. Hi Mom.

Joanna: (Suspiciously.) What are you up to?

(Steve sneezes.)

Brooke: Just uh, washing the bathroom floor. Why do you think I'm up to something?

Joanna: Because you're washing the bathroom floor. And you're left eye twitches when you're up to something.

Brooke: (Worried.) No it doesn't. (Reaches up to make sure she's right.)

Joanna: Ah ha! Spill it.

Brooke: Mom, can we get a dog?

Joanna: (Sympathetic.) Honey, you know we can't. You're father's allergic.

(Steve sneezes. Brooke jumps. Joanna looks over Brooke's shoulder. Whispers.) Do you have a dog in this room?

Brooke: No.

(Steve sneezes.)

Brooke: But if I did it would only be temporary. (Joanna looks like she's about to object. Brooke begs.) Please mom, don't make me take him to the pound. I'll find a home for him as soon as possible. I promise.

Joanna: Honey, how many times do we have to have this conversation?

Brooke: This isn't the same, Mom. (Jasper sneaks past their feet.)

(Steve sneezes.)

Joanna: Steve, is everything okay out there?

Steve: (Off screen.) There's some kind of mutant squirrel in the house. (Sneezes. Joanna goes to check it out. Brooke pulls back the curtain and Jasper's gone.)

Steve: (Off screen.) Get out of here you mangy mongrel. (Jasper barks.)

Brooke: No! Dad! (Runs into the living room. Joanna is standing a table lamp back up.)

Steve: (Shuts the door and comes back in.) There, he's gone.

Brooke: (Opens the door.) Jasper, come here boy! Jasper!

Steve: (Gives his wife a confused look.) She named a squirrel?

Scene: Station common room.

(Tyler and Hank are sitting at the counter. Melanie's standing in a corner. Jamie's walking across the room.)

Melaine: You could have been burned alive.

Jamie: (Shrugs.) I guess so. (Picks up his coffee.)

Melaine: But your care and concern for the preservation of human life took control and you rushed into the burning blaze with no thought for your own safety. Your only goal: to save the life of that poor defenseless child.

Jamie: I guess you could put it that way.

(Hank and Tyler are beyond sick of this by now.)

Hank: Hey super boy, we've got a lot of work to her, man.

Tyler: Yeah, the inventory doesn't check itself.

Jamie: What's your problem? I didn't ask her to interview me.

Hank: Yeah, and you didn't turn her down either.

Val: (Comes through the door.) Guys. Electric shock, no pulse. Twelve twenty Calvin Street. They're doing CPR now. Come on. (The all move. Melanie follows.)

Melaine: This'll be great for the story.

Hank: (Gets between Melanie and the door.) I'm sorry. No ride alongs. (Closes the door on her.)

Scene: Outside a house's pool.

(There's a cord and a hose spraying water on it. The brick is wet. The cord leads to a CD player. The squad is treating a girl over on the grass.)

Val: (Off screen.) And one, and two, and three, and four, and five, and six. . .

(Tyler is holding back two friends.)

Female Friend: Please, you've gotta save her.

Tyler: We're doing the bast that we can. She's in good hands.

Male Friend: We had no idea the cord was frayed. When she went to pull it out of the water. . . I can't believe her heart stopped.

(High pitched beeping.)

Female Friend: (Off screen.) Please let her be okay. Please let her be okay.

Val: (Doing chest compressions.) And one, and two, and three, and four, and five.

Hank: (Charges the defibrillator.) We've got defib.

Tyler: (To the friends.) Back up.

Hank: Clear. (Val holds her hands up and away. He shocks the patient. The heart monitor starts a steady beeping.)

Female Friend: (Gasping.) Donna?

Hank: She's back.

Val: (Picks up Donna's wrist and takes the pulse.) Pulse is steady.

Hank: (Rubs Donna's arm.) Good girl, you're gonna be okay. You're gonna be okay.

Val: (Reaches over and grabs Hank's wrist. He looks up.) Hey you. Nice work.

Hank: Thanks. You too. (Tyler grins.)

(A little later. They're loading Donna into the ambulance.)

Female Friend: How is she?

Jamie: Well, we're gonna have to move her nice and easy, but she'll be fine. (Tyler runs back to Hank and Val.)

Tyler: Love a happy ending. (Gives Hank a low five.) Good job.

Hank: Thanks, man.

Val: (Pats them both on the arm.) Hey that's what it's all about. (They start walking back.)

(Cut back to the ambulance.)

Male Friend: Wait. You're the guy who saved that boy from the fire.

Female Friend: He's right. You're a real hero. (Tyler, Hank and Val stop in disbelief.) And now you saved Donna too.

Jamie: No big thing. Any time.

Female Friend: (Reaches over Donna and grabs Jamie's wrist.) Thank you.

Hank: (Quietly to Val and Tyler. They're still too far away for Jamie to hear.) If it's no big thing how come he's taking all the credit?

Stock Shot: Outside Kingsport High School. Day.

Scene: Hallway.

(Tyler and Hank are walking and laughing. Melanie comes running up behind them, pushes between them and stops in front of them.)

Melaine: Hey, can I interview you guys for the school paper?

(They look at each other.)

Hank: Sure, sure. Yeah. (Hands the football he was carrying to Tyler.) I can spare a minute.

Tyler: Make that two. (Pushes the football back.)

Melaine: Cathy told me how Donna Kasalis got an electric shock and her heart stopped and she almost died.

Tyler: Well. . .

Melaine: Their neighbor is a city councilman and he heard all about it. So they're planning a ceremony with a medal and everything.

Hank: Really? You mean a, like a real medal, right?

Melaine: So, obviously I need your comments.

Tyler: Yeah, yeah what do you. . . what do you need to know?

Melaine: What's it like to work with a real-life hero? Like Jamie.

Tyler: (He and Hank look at each other.) Jamie.

[Commercial Break]

Scene: School hallway.

(Caitie and Val are at their locker. Jamie starts walking down the hall. He's got a group with him again.)

Girl: They're really gonna give you a medal?

Jamie: Well, when the Mayor called I told her it wasn't necessary, but she insisted.

Girl: (While Jamie's talking. Impressed.) Oh, that Mayor.

Jamie: (Con't.) She thought it's be good publicity for the EMS program.

Girl: What's it like to actually save a life? I mean like how does it feel?

Jamie: Oh, it feels good. I'm just glad I was there to help. (We can still hear him talking in the background, but it's not clear. He walks past Caitie and Val.)

Caitie: Ugh, look at him. He's impossible.

(Jamie starts walking up the stairs. More girls join the entourage. He starts walking up backwards.)

Someone In The Background: They're really gonna give you a medal?

Jamie: I guess.

Val: Oh, he's just enjoying his fifteen minutes of fame.

Caitie: Okay, them um, wake me in fifteen. (They both laugh.)

Pretty Girl: (The one with the concert tickets.) Don't you just think that Jamie is so cute?

Caitie: Oh yeah, he's adorable. (Loud enough for Jamie to hear.) Like a baby. (Sounds and looks like she's actually talking to a little baby. Teasing Jamie.) Like the most adorable little baby there ever was.

(Jamie looks at her. He laughs it off around the girls and back around the corner. Shoots Caitie one last glare. Val and Caitie are both laughing.)

Val: What is that all about?

Caitie: Oh, our uh, macho hero has a cutsie wootsie past.

Stock Shot: Outside station. Day.

Scene: Station common room.

(Val, Tyler and Hank are at the counter. Brooke is off screen by the kitchen area. Jamie's sitting.)

Alex: (Enters.) Hey Brooke, where's that stray that you've been looking after?

Brooke: Jasper? He got loose and ran away. Why?

Alex: He fits the description of a dog that bit a little boy a couple of blocks from here.

Brooke: It wasn't Jasper. He wouldn't do that.

Alex: Yeah well, I don’t think there's two dogs out there that look like Jasper, Brooke. (To everyone. Passes flyers around.) Guys, I want you to pass these out around the neighborhood. If we don't find that dog, that little boy's going to have to start rabies treatment.

Hank: That's rough, man.

Tyler: All those shots.

Alex: And if you do find the dog, don't try to grab him. Just, just call animal control.

Jamie: Hey, why am I being saddled with this? (Holds up the flyers. Val gives Tyler and Hank a look.) I'm not a dog catcher. That mutt gives me the creeps.

Alex: Rabies can be fatal, Mr. Waite. Or maybe you've met your quota for helping people this week.

Jamie: No.

Alex: Then good luck. And be careful. (They leave.)

Scene: Station common room.

(It's night. Jamie's asleep on one of the beds and the other three are watching him from the doorway.)

Hank: I guess taking all the credit really poops you out.

Tyler: Yep. He's sleeping like a baby.

Val: Mm hmm. Yeah, like an adorable little baby. (Tyler gives her a questioning look.)

Hank: What's with the smile?

Val: (Smirks.) I have to tell you guys something.

Stock Shot: Outside Lanier house. Morning.

Scene: Kitchen/hallway.

(The door to Brooke and Val's room is right by the kitchen. Brooke comes out wearing pyjamas. A blanket moves on a chair in the living room. Jasper pokes his nose out and wags his tail.)

Brooke: Jasper!

(Val comes out of their room. Does a double take when she sees the dog.)

Val: Brooke, what is he doing here?

Brooke: (Happy.) He must have followed me in last night. I never even saw him.

Val: Be careful. He might bite you.

Brooke: Jasper doesn't bite and he'd not even sick. See. (Val pets the dog.)

Val: Well, just because he's not rabid doesn't mean he didn't bite that little boy. We still have to bring him in.

Brooke: Ugh, if Jasper were a person he'd at least have a fair trial.

Val: Yeah, but I don't think there's such thing as a doggie court.

(Steve sneezes.)

Joanna: (Off screen.) Brooke!

Steve: (Off Screen.) Brooke!

Scene: Station.

(Alex is looking through some files and doesn't see Brooke come up behind him. She's carrying Jasper.)

Brooke: So what do we do now?

Alex: (Turns around.) Cheer up, Brooke. Jasper's in the clear.

Brooke: (Excited.) Really?

Alex: The other dog turned up late last night. He had all his shots up to date so the little boy's gonna be just fine.

Alex: (Says something to the dog and pets him on the tuft of hair between his ears. Brooke leaves. Calls after her.) But you still can't keep him here!

Scene: Outside the station.

(Jamie is posing behind an ambulance while a photographer takes his picture. Caitie's waiting.)

Caitie: (Impatiently.) Okay, can we uh, kick this up a notch here, please? We're gonna miss the movie.

Jamie: Yeah, I'm busy right now. Just decaf?

Caitie: Yeah, and maybe you oughta deflate that giant ego you've sprouted. (Walks away from him.)

(Melanie runs up next to Jamie and starts directing the photographer.)

Scene: Garage.

(Brooke is still holding Jasper in her arms.)

Brooke: I don't know what I'm going to do. Nobody's claimed him yet.

(Hank, Val and Tyler are doing inventory or something like that.)

Tyler: You know maybe it's just me but I wouldn't have put his picture in the ad. (He and Hank laugh.)

Val: Okay guys, okay. Lay off the dog. (Starts petting the dog.)

Brooke: It's not funny. Alex won't let me keep him here and I can't find anybody who will take him.

Caitie: (Walks in and stops shot when she sees the dog.) What's that rabid mongrel doing here?

Brooke: (Defensive.) Jasper is not rabid!

Val: It's true. They found the other dog. Jasper is in the clear.

Caitie: (Getting an idea.) Does Jamie know about this yet?

Val: I don't think so. Why?

Caitie: Wanna see a hero jump? (Pulls out a tube of toothpaste from her purse.)

Scene: Outside station.

("Addicted To Fame" By Subser plays. Jamie's having his photo taken for the school paper. Jasper comes out of the garage with toothpaste all over his mouth. It looks like he's foaming at the mouth.)

Photographer: (Sees the dog through his camera. Mouthing.) Rabid dog.

Melaine: (Sees her photographer mouth the words. She turns around. Points and screams.) Rabid dog! Raid dog!

Jamie: I'll get him. Stay back!

(The group comes out to see how their prank's working. Jasper runs through Jamie's hands and dodges into oncoming traffic.)

Brooke: (Scared.) Jasper! No!

(Jasper stops right in front of an oncoming car. Jamie steps into the street and pulls him back. A horn honks. He falls on his back with Jasper on his chest. Jasper licks Jamie's face.)

Jamie: Toothpaste?

Melaine: That was so incredible! (To photographer.) Please tell me you got the shot.

Photographer: Yeah, don't worry I got it.

(Hank, Val, Tyler, Brooke and Caitie all come running around the corner. Jamie hands the dog back to Brooke.)

Hank: Are you alright, man?

Caitie: Jamie, I'm so sorry. This was, it was just a joke.

Jamie: What?

Caitie: This was not supposed to happen.

Jamie: (Angry.) A joke? What is it with you guys? What have I ever done to you?

Tyler: We're sorry. We really are. It's just. . . you know it's kinda hard watching you get all the credit for stuff we've done.

Hank: Yeah, you know we're supposed to be a team, man.

Jamie: (Angry.) Maybe you've forgotten, I was the one that ran into the building. I saved that kid.

Hank: Yeah, maybe you've forgotten that it was us who treated him for smoke inhalation.

Tyler: And the paramedics that took him to the hospital so he could be treated by doctors and nurses.

Val: Yeah, and not to mention the firemen who risked their lives to put out the fire.

Hank: Hey look, we're not trying to gang up on you, man. We're just, I don't know, we're trying to show you that we know what you did was great, but it was still a team effort. (Tyler and Val nod.)

Caitie: Okay look, all they're trying to say is just stop being such a jerk.

Melaine: This is better than a soap opera.

(Jamie just walks away. Melanie follows him, dragging her photographer with her. Brooke makes sure Jasper's okay.)

Scene: Auditorium.

(Jamie is up on stage and Mayor Rivera is making a speech at a podium.)

Mayor Rivera: And so we are all very proud of Jamie Waite. (A shot of Tyler, Val, Hank, Alex, Brooke, Caitie and a few other EMTs standing by the door.) Not only for his selfless acts of courage, but for his continuing service to out city. (She holds up the medal and the audience claps. Alex joins. Slowly Hank, Tyler, Val and the other EMTs join as well. Caitie doesn't. Jamie steps forward and allows Mayor Rivera to put it around his neck.) Congratulations. (She steps aside so that Jamie can have the microphone.)

Jamie: Thank you. (Applause dies down.) But I don't deserve this. (He takes off the medal.) What I mean to say is that I'm not the only one who deserves this. (Looks over towards the door.) Can you come up here guys? (There's a long pause. Tyler, Val and Hank don't move. "Smile" By Olive plays.) We're a team. All of our names should be on the medal. (Caitie grins at them. Tyler goes up followed by Hank and Val.) Tyler Connell, Hank Beecham, and Val Lanier. (The audience claps and the squad smiles.)

Scene: Station rec room.

(Alex and Brooke are sitting on the couch. Jasper is sitting on Alex's knee. Val and Tyler are on another couch eating popcorn, Hank is in a chair and Jamie is on the floor in front of Val and Tyler.)

Hank: (Makes a sound that sounds lie a horse. Probably teasing Val.)

Val: Does my nose really look like that?

Tyler: What are you talking about? You look great. (They're watching tape of the ceremony.) What's up with me though? I look like a grinning idiot.

Hank: I think I'm looking pretty good. (A beat.) Nah, real good. (They all laugh.)

(Val grabs the top of his head with her hand.)

Jamie: Don't let it go to your head. You'll end up with your picture on a wall like me.

(The camera cuts to a picture on the wall. There's a baby with a bare butt laying on his belly on a carpet with Jamie's head edited in.)

Hank: True.

Tyler: It's not a bad picture.

Val: Very cute.

(Jasper whimpers.)

Alex: Brooke, this is absolutely the last day that he can stay here. We have got to find him a home.

Brooke: Well, I think he wants to stay with you.

(All confirmations at the same time. Jasper licks Alex's chin.)

Tyler: Oh, definitely.

Hank: Yeah, yeah, yeah.

Val: He's at home on your lap. Very cute, very cute.

Tyler: He's very happy.

Jamie: He loves you.

News Reporter: (On TV.) In a related story.

Hank: Shh. (They stop talking and watch the TV. On the top right corner of the screen, there's a picture of Jamie on his back on the ground with Jasper.)

News Reporter: (Con't.) Kingsport's super hero, Jamie Waite, has risked his life once again. This time to save a panicky lab animal from a speeding car. (Brooke takes Jasper from Alex.)

Tyler: Well, here we go again.

Hank: That's great, man. Great.

Val: Never ending.

(All three of them look at Jamie.)

Jamie: Not my fault. (Eats some popcorn.)

Brooke: He's not a lab animal. He's a dog, an adorable dog.

(Jasper barks. They all laugh.) [Fade Out]
