FADE IN:
1 INT. SISKO'S QUARTERS
JAKE sits hunched over a table on which sit three pots, each
containing a small, newly sprouted plant with a bulbous base.
Jake is carefully watering each plant as the door opens and
SISKO ENTERS.
SISKO
Hey, Jake.
(re: the plants)
What's all this?
JAKE
My science project. I'm growing
Bajoran katterpods to find out which
hybrid yields the biggest root.
SISKO
(puzzled)
That's it? You're just going to
watch them grow?
JAKE
Yeah. Pretty neat, huh?
SISKO
Not bad... But don't you think it's
a little...
(trying to be
diplomatic)
Low tech.
JAKE
I'm a low tech kind of guy, dad.
Sisko can't argue with that assessment, but still feels he
has to push his son to try something a little more ambitious.
DEEP SPACE: "The Jem'Hadar" - REV. 04/22/94 - TEASER 2.
1 CONTINUED:
SISKO
I still think you can do something a
little more challenging.
(encouraging him)
If you could do any science project
you wanted... anything at all...
what would it be?
Jake thinks about it for a moment, then gets excited.
JAKE
(knows this is a long
shot)
Learn how to pilot a runabout?
SISKO
That's not really a science project,
is it? What's your second choice?
JAKE
(after a beat)
Visit the Gamma Quadrant?
SISKO
(considers it)
What would you do once you got there?
JAKE
I don't know... I could... do a
planetary survey?
SISKO
That's not bad.
(deciding)
All right. Let's do it.
JAKE
(surprised)
Really?
SISKO
It'll be like a vacation.
(a beat)
A working vacation.
JAKE
That's fantastic. Thanks, Dad. I
bet we'll have a great time.
SISKO
I know we will.
DEEP SPACE: "The Jem'Hadar" - REV. 04/22/94 - TEASER 3.
1 CONTINUED: (2)
And as they sit there looking forward to their trip...
CUT TO:
2 INT. COMMANDER'S OFFICE
Sisko is discussing station business with KIRA and DAX.
KIRA
(reading off a PADD)
Let's see, we have a Bolian freighter
due in the day after tomorrow...
we'll be outfitting another group of
settlers leaving for New Bajor...
(an aside)
I hear the colony's new irrigation
system is something to see. When
you get to the Gamma Quadrant, you
should take a look.
SISKO
Not this trip. I really want to
spend some time alone with Jake.
(a beat)
When's the Odyssey due back from the
Cardassian border?
KIRA
(checking PADD)
Three days.
SISKO
(amused, to Dax)
It's a shame I'll have to miss your
reunion with Captain Keogh.
DAX
(defensive)
I'm seven times as old as Keogh, and
he treats me like some kind of...
SISKO
(playful)
Lieutenant?
DAX
Don't you find him just a little
arrogant?
DEEP SPACE: "The Jem'Hadar" - REV. 04/22/94 - TEASER 4.
2 CONTINUED:
SISKO
Funny, he said the same thing about
you.
DAX
(wryly)
Did he?
SISKO
(the final word)
He's the Captain of a Galaxy-class
starship and I expect him to be
treated with the courtesy he deserves.
DAX
Don't worry. I'll be on my best
behavior.
KIRA
(to Sisko)
You just enjoy your vacation. I'll
keep everyone out of trouble until
you get back.
Sisko has every confidence in his first officer.
SISKO
I don't doubt it.
O'BRIEN'S COM VOICE
Commander... your son's here to see
you.
SISKO
(to com)
Send him in.
(to Dax and Kira)
He's really looking forward to this
trip.
3 NEW ANGLE
As Jake ENTERS.
JAKE
Dad, guess what... I was talking to
Nog and it turns out that he's having
trouble coming up with a science
project. So I told him he could be
my partner.
DEEP SPACE: "The Jem'Hadar" - REV. 04/22/94 - TEASER 4A.
3 CONTINUED:
Dax and Kira stand up. Neither one wants to sit on the
sidelines during a family discussion.
KIRA
(smiling, to Sisko,
re: PADD)
I think we can finish this later.
She and Dax EXIT.
SISKO
(to Jake)
Partner?
JAKE
We asked Mrs. O'Brien and she said
it would be okay, so I invited Nog
to come with us to the Gamma Quadrant.
SISKO
Now hold on a second, Jake...
JAKE
Dad, if Nog doesn't get a good grade
on this science project, he's going
to drop out of school. And I can't
let that happen.
SISKO
Maybe he can help you analyze the
survey information when we get back.
JAKE
That's not enough. Mrs. O'Brien
said he'd have to be an equal partner.
(a beat)
Come on, Dad... he's my friend. I
have to help him.
4 CLOSE ON SISKO
He can't say no, but this isn't going to be the trip he was
hoping for.
DEEP SPACE: "The Jem'Hadar" - REV. 04/22/94 - TEASER 5.
5 INT. QUARK'S - SECOND LEVEL
QUARK is seated at a table beside MORN, who stares morosely
into his drink.
QUARK
Morn, you've been sitting there all
day, staring into the same drink.
Talk to me. I want to help.
(Morn says nothing)
I'm not just your bartender... I'm
your friend. Whatever's wrong, I'm
here for you.
Morn looks up at Quark, places a hand on his shoulder, and
is about to pour out his life story, when Quark spots ODO
coming up the stairs.
QUARK
(to Morn, dismissive)
Hold that thought.
Quark hurries over to Odo.
QUARK
(anxious)
Well... what did he say?
ODO
What did who say?
QUARK
Commander Sisko. About my idea.
ODO
You mean using the monitors to sell
merchandise throughout the station?
QUARK
(frustrated)
Stop torturing me, Odo. Tell me
what he said.
ODO
Guess.
QUARK
(hopeful)
He said yes?
ODO
Guess again.
DEEP SPACE: "The Jem'Hadar" - REV. 04/22/94 - TEASER 5A.
5 CONTINUED:
QUARK
But how could he refuse? It would
triple my profits.
In the background Morn, tired of waiting for Quark, shuffles
away.
ODO
Maybe it's because he doesn't like
you.
QUARK
(dismissive)
Don't be ridiculous. Major Kira is
the one that doesn't like me.
Sisko...
ODO
(finishing the sentence)
Doesn't like you either.
QUARK
What did I ever do to him?
DEEP SPACE: "The Jem'Hadar" - REV. 04/22/94 - TEASER 6.
5 CONTINUED: (2)
ODO
Oh, I could think of one or two
things.
QUARK
(dismissive)
One or two things? That's nothing.
(more to the point)
So do you think there's any way I
can change his mind?
Odo harumphs and EXITS.
6 NEW ANGLE
As NOG approaches Quark.
NOG
Uncle Quark?
QUARK
(ignoring him)
Not now.
NOG
(trying to soft-sell
this)
I just wanted to tell you, I'm not
going to be able to work my shift
for the next couple of days.
DEEP SPACE: "The Jem'Hadar" - REV. 04/22/94 - TEASER 7.
6 CONTINUED:
Quark is outraged.
QUARK
Why not?
NOG
I'm... going to the Gamma Quadrant...
with Jake and his father.
QUARK
(surprised)
You're going to the Gamma Quadrant
with Commander Sisko?
Quark senses an opportunity.
QUARK
How...
(getting an idea)
Lucky for you.
And as Quark throws a friendly arm around Nog...
FADE OUT.
END OF TEASER
DEEP SPACE: "The Jem'Hadar" - REV. 04/22/94 - ACT ONE 8.
ACT ONE
FADE IN:
(NOTE: Episode credits fall over opening scenes)
7 INT. RIO GRANDE
Sisko, Jake and Nog ENTER the runabout carrying their gear.
Nog's eyes light up when he sees the control panels.
NOG
(excited)
I always wanted to see what the
cockpit of a runabout looked like.
He drops his bags in the doorway and goes to examine the
controls.
NOG
(to Jake)
How do you fire the phasers?
JAKE
("Be cool")
Nog, you promised.
NOG
(defending himself)
I wasn't going to touch anything.
SISKO
Why don't you guys stow our gear in
the back while I go through pre-
launch?
NOG
(trying to be helpful)
I'll do it.
Nog grabs up the bags.
JAKE
(to Nog)
I'll be right there.
8 NEW ANGLE
As Nog goes off into the back, Jake sits down next to his
father.
SISKO
(re: Nog)
Fire the phasers?
DEEP SPACE: "The Jem'Hadar" - REV. 04/22/94 - ACT ONE 9.
8 CONTINUED:
JAKE
He was kidding.
(serious)
Look, Dad. I know this isn't exactly
the trip you planned on. But you'll
see... Nog's a great guy.
SISKO
I'm sure he is. I was just hoping
that you and I could spend this
time... together.
JAKE
We will. Don't worry. You won't
even know Nog's along.
(a beat)
This is going to be a great trip.
You'll see.
QUARK (O.S.)
Ah, there you are.
Jake and Sisko turn and see...
9 QUARK
Standing in the doorway, heavily laden with luggage and
wearing a loud fun-and-sun outfit.
QUARK
Where do I put my bags?
10 NEW ANGLE
Sisko and Jake exchange looks. Neither of them have any
idea what Quark is up to.
Nog comes out from the back and sees Quark. He's as surprised
as anyone.
NOG
Uncle Quark... What are you doing
here?
QUARK
What's it look like? I'm coming
with you.
Quark shoves his bags onto Nog.
DEEP SPACE: "The Jem'Hadar" - REV. 04/22/94 - ACT ONE 10.
10 CONTINUED:
SISKO
Since when?
QUARK
(doing some fast
talking)
Really, Commander, you don't expect
my nephew to go all the way to the
Gamma Quadrant without proper
supervision.
Quark takes Sisko aside, shooing Jake and Nog away.
QUARK
(continues)
No offense... some of my best friends
are humans. But my brother Rom isn't
as... liberal as I am. Let's face
it... he's never been comfortable
about Nog's friendship with your
son.
SISKO
You can tell Rom not to worry. I'll
take good care of the boy.
(a beat)
And I promise I won't try to corrupt
him with my human values.
QUARK
I know that, but Rom is convinced
all humans look down on Ferengis.
And by allowing me to come on this
trip, you can help prove him wrong.
(a beat)
He is wrong, isn't he?
DEEP SPACE: "The Jem'Hadar" - REV. 04/22/94 - ACT ONE 10A.
10 CONTINUED: (2)
Quark smiles. He knows he has Sisko in a bind.
JAKE
Dad, please...
A beat as Sisko looks at Jake and realizes how important
this is to his son. And that, more than Quark's weaseling,
convinces Sisko.
SISKO
(to Jake, a good sport)
All right. But let's get going before
anyone else shows up.
Jake smiles in thanks at his dad.
DEEP SPACE: "The Jem'Hadar" - REV. 04/22/94 - ACT ONE 11.
11 EXT. SPACE (OPTICAL)
The Rio Grande emerges from the wormhole into the Gamma
Quadrant.
12 EXT. PLANET SURFACE - DAY (MATTE SHOT)
A lush, green tropical world.
13 EXT. JUNGLE - DAY
Sisko, Jake, Quark and Nog walk into a small clearing.
JAKE
(looking around)
This place is great.
SISKO
Our preliminary surveys suggest it's
a lot like Earth during the early
Devonian period. A lot of plant
life, fish, some insects, but no
predators or large land animals.
Pretty, isn't it?
QUARK
I don't see what's so pretty about
it.
NOG
(helpful)
I think they mean the trees and stuff.
SISKO
Look around you, Quark. This is as
close to paradise as you'll ever
get. You just have to allow yourself
to see it.
QUARK
(professorial)
I can tell you what I see in two
words... "exploitable resources."
Quark begins scratching at his ears.
SISKO
I suppose you'd want to cut down all
these trees and start strip mining
the entire planet.
DEEP SPACE: "The Jem'Hadar" - REV. 04/22/94 - ACT ONE 12.
13 CONTINUED:
QUARK
As a wise man once wrote... "Nature
decays, but latinum lasts forever."
NOG
Rule of Acquisition number one-oh-
two?
QUARK
Good lad.
(scratches again)
Nog... I have some ointment in one
of my bags... get it.
Nog begins digging through Quark's gear.
SISKO
What's the problem?
QUARK
Oh, I get a mild reaction now and
then.
SISKO
To what?
QUARK
Nature.
SISKO
Maybe you'd be more comfortable
sleeping on the runabout.
QUARK
And miss all the fun... never.
(giving Sisko a
friendly pat on the
back)
Besides, I'm really looking forward
to our getting to know each other
better.
14 CLOSE ON SISKO
He's not looking forward to it at all.
15 EXT. ANOTHER PART OF THE JUNGLE - DAY
Sisko and Quark are seated beneath a tree. In the background,
Jake and Nog are collecting soil samples. Quark's ears are
now totally slathered in ointment. He finishes covering one
last area, then puts down the tube.
DEEP SPACE: "The Jem'Hadar" - REV. 04/22/94 - ACT ONE 13.
15 CONTINUED:
QUARK
Ahh... That's more like it.
(a beat)
Now if it only wasn't so hot.
SISKO
I hadn't noticed.
QUARK
I don't think it's the heat so much
as the humidity. And the insects.
(shooing off the bugs)
And the stench of these flowers.
(a beat)
I'm glad that we can talk like this.
There's nothing like facing the
wilderness to bring people closer.
SISKO
The answer is still "no," Quark.
QUARK
No? No to what?
SISKO
I'm not going to let you sell
merchandise over the station's
monitors.
QUARK
(defiant)
Why not? It's a brilliant idea.
(really selling it)
There's only room for so many stores
on the Promenade. With my
connections, I could offer a whole
range of merchandise that normally
couldn't be acquired in this sector...
SISKO
Such as?
QUARK
Collectibles... Andorian jewelry...
Vulcan Idic Pins... Bolian
crystalsteel, and with my low
overhead, I could offer these items
at a significant discount.
Quark starts to scratch his nose.
DEEP SPACE: "The Jem'Hadar" - REV. 04/22/94 - ACT ONE 13A.
15 CONTINUED: (2)
SISKO
Quark, you're wasting your time.
And mine.
Sisko gets up and walks away.
DEEP SPACE: "The Jem'Hadar" - REV. 04/22/94 - ACT ONE 14.
15 CONTINUED: (3)
QUARK
(calling offer)
Did I mention I was going to donate
two percent of my net profit to the
Bajoran Fund for Orphans?
(no response)
Three percent.
16 NEW ANGLE
As Sisko joins Jake and Nog.
SISKO
So... how's it going?
JAKE
The atmosphere's seventy-seven percent
nitrogen, twenty-one percent oxygen,
and two percent carbon dioxide. The
water contains traces of copper,
nickel and a little birythium...
Sisko reads over Jake's shoulder. He's proud of what Jake's
accomplished in one day.
SISKO
(re: the water sample)
You're showing a little lead there
too.
JAKE
It's from the surrounding soil. But
we think it's localized.
NOG
We're going to check some other water
sources to be sure.
SISKO
Why not wait until tomorrow? I was
just about to start dinner.
JAKE
Jumbalaya?
SISKO
How'd you know?
JAKE
(pleased)
Great.
DEEP SPACE: "The Jem'Hadar" - REV. 04/22/94 - ACT ONE 14A.
16 CONTINUED:
NOG
Jumbowhat?
JAKE
You're gonna love it.
They start to walk.
SISKO
The two of you did good work today.
Jake and Nog exchange pround looks.
17 EXT. JUNGLE - CAMPSITE - NIGHT
Everyone's gathered around the campfire. Sisko and Jake on
one side, Quark and Nog on the other. They're finishing up
their meal. Sisko stirs the contents of a pot.
SISKO
Anyone want some more?
JAKE
Not me.
NOG
Me neither... but it was very good,
Commander. I think I'm developing a
taste for human food.
DEEP SPACE: "The Jem'Hadar" - REV. 04/22/94 - ACT ONE 15.
17 CONTINUED:
SISKO
(re: the food)
Quark?
QUARK
I still say some dirt got into the
sauce. And these bugs. Look at
this...
(he picks a tiny speck
out of his food)
They get into everything. It's
disgusting.
SISKO
I thought Ferengis liked eating bugs.
QUARK
Only certain bugs. Ferengi bugs.
(a beat)
Nog... get some more ointment for
the back of my neck.
NOG
Yes, Uncle.
As Nog goes to get the ointment...
18 NEW ANGLE
On Jake and Sisko, seated in the darkness.
SISKO
You should get a good night's sleep.
You've got another big day tomorrow.
JAKE
Yeah, I want to start cataloguing
the plant life first thing in the
morning.
There's a moment of silence as father and son enjoy each
other's company.
JAKE
You know what this reminds me of...
SISKO
That camping trip we took on Itamish
Three.
DEEP SPACE: "The Jem'Hadar" - REV. 04/22/94 - ACT ONE 16.
18 CONTINUED:
JAKE
(nods)
I don't think I remember you, me,
and mom ever having more fun together.
SISKO
Isn't that where I taught you how to
water ski?
JAKE
(smiling)
Mom taught me how to water ski.
SISKO
She was always the graceful one.
(a beat)
You know, Jake... we really need to
get away more often.
JAKE
I'm ready whenever you are.
(ribbing him)
And I'm sure Nog is too.
(off Sisko's look)
I'm joking.
Sisko smiles and just as we hear an offscreen howl of panic
from...
19 QUARK
Who is hoping up and down waving his right arm. The sleeve
of his loud vacation shirt is on fire.
QUARK
I'm on fire... I'm on fire...
20 NEW ANGLE
Sisko reacts immediately, grabbing a blanket and smothering
the flames.
SISKO
Are you all right?
QUARK
No, I'm not all right. My ears itch,
my nose is running, I'm eating foreign
bugs... and now look at me.
Quark waves his burnt sleeve in Sisko's face.
DEEP SPACE: "The Jem'Hadar" - REV. 04/22/94 - ACT ONE 17.
20 CONTINUED:
QUARK
One minute I'm trying to pick out a
couple of insects from the
jumblewhatsit pot... and next thing
I know... whoosh...
SISKO
Calm down, Quark.
Quark sneezes all over Sisko.
SISKO
(annoyed)
Look, do us all a favor... sit down...
and try to stay out of trouble.
QUARK
(sneezes again)
What did I do?
An embarrassed Nog turns around and rushes off into the trees.
JAKE
(embarrassed for his
friend)
I'd better see if he's okay.
Jake follows Nog into the darkness, leaving...
21 SISKO AND QUARK
Alone in the camp.
QUARK
(to Sisko, accusatory)
Now see what you've done.
SISKO
What I've done?
QUARK
The boy couldn't stand to see his
favorite Uncle insulted.
(a beat)
I guess Rom was right after all...
You don't like Ferengis, do you?
DEEP SPACE: "The Jem'Hadar" - REV. 04/22/94 - ACT ONE 18.
21 CONTINUED:
SISKO
That's not true.
QUARK
All right... name me one Ferengi you
do like.
Sisko can't come up with a name quick enough for Quark.
QUARK
Hah. You see? I'm right. You
Federation types are all alike. You
talk about tolerance and
understanding... but you only practice
it toward people that remind you of
yourselves. Because you disapprove
of Ferengi values, you scorn us...
distrust us... and insult us every
chance you get.
SISKO
Quark, I don't have to stand here
and defend myself...
QUARK
Tell me, Commander, would you allow
your son to marry a Ferengi female?
SISKO
(exasperated)
I never thought about it.
QUARK
Exactly my point...
22 NEW ANGLE (OPTICAL)
Suddenly there's a rustling in the brush and suddenly ERIS,
a beautiful, frail young woman comes racing out of the
darkness. She's scared, almost frantic.
Startled, Eris comes to a quick stop as she sees Sisko and
Quark. Sisko holds up his hand in a gesture of non-
aggression.
SISKO
Wait... don't be frightened... we --
During the above, Eris concentrates on Sisko who gets blown
off his feet by a forced energy pulse. She turns to Quark.
QUARK
Don't hurt me.
DEEP SPACE: "The Jem'Hadar" - REV. 04/22/94 - ACT ONE 19.
22 CONTINUED:
ERIS
(to Quark)
How many of them are there?
QUARK
(not sure what she's
talking about)
There's just the two of us.
ERIS
Not you. The Jem'Hadar.
Sisko gets back onto his feet.
SISKO
We don't know who you're talking
about, but we're not your enemies.
Quark starts to get up. We hear the sound of more rustling
in the undergrowth. But this time, the rustling is more
violent, as if several people are approaching.
ERIS
Then you'd better run.
But before they can, everyone notices...
23 NEW ANGLE (OPTICAL)
the bushes part... As suddenly four JEM'HADAR soldiers shimmer
into view. (This is the same kind of invisibility effect
used by Tosk in CAPTIVE PURSUIT. The thought behind this is
that the same people who breed the Tosks as gifts to the
hunters breed the Jem'Hadar as well.)
The Jem'Hadar are genetically engineered soldiers. Unlike
the Klingons they have no interest in honor or glory. And
unlike the Cardassians and Romulans, they have no love of
intrigue or politics.
The closest twentieth century analogy would be the
professional mercenary, but unlike mercenaries, Jem'Hadar
don't fight for material gain and can't be bribed or
negotiated with. They are the ultimate professionals.
And they look scary, too.
The Jem'Hadar leader (THIRD TALAK'TALAN) aims a sinister-
looking weapon at Eris.
DEEP SPACE: "The Jem'Hadar" - REV. 04/22/94 - ACT ONE 20.
23 CONTINUED:
TALAK'TALAN
It's too late. You're done running.
The other Jem'Hadar soldiers cover Sisko and Quark with their
weapons.
QUARK
This has not been a good day.
24 CLOSE ON SISKO
Reacting to the Jem'Hadar soldiers.
FADE OUT.
END OF ACT ONE
DEEP SPACE: "The Jem'Hadar" - REV. 04/22/94 - ACT TWO 21.
ACT TWO
FADE IN:
25 EXT. JUNGLE - CAMPSITE - NIGHT
Nog and Jake are looking around the deserted camp. A worried
Jake hits his combadge.
JAKE
(to com)
Dad, this is Jake. Where are you?
(a beat)
Dad, Answer me.
NOG
I tell you, something's happened to
them. Maybe they got attacked by
some kind of wild animal.
JAKE
You heard my father. There aren't
any wild animals, just insects and
plants.
NOG
Maybe they were attacked by a vicious
tree.
Jake notices something in the dirt.
JAKE
Take a look at this.
Nog comes over. Jake points out a series of footprints in
the dirt.
JAKE
I don't know any trees that wear
boots.
NOG
(nervous)
We'd better beam up to the runabout.
JAKE
Listen, we can't run away just 'cause

We can track them with the tricorder.
As far as Jake is concerned, that's the end of the discussion.

26 INT. CAVERN CONTAINMENT AREA
Starting close on Quark:
QUARK
Hey! Is anybody there? Hello!
We're humanoids! We require food
and water. Hello!
Moving back to reveal Sisko, Eris and Quark are inside a
circular containment area, bordered by a ring-shaped security
field generator. The area is lit by a reddish light from
above. Sisko is sitting, thinking, on one side of the cell,
his combadge has been removed... Eris, now wearing a high
tech collar locked around her neck, has separated herself
from the others... she is irritated by Quark's yelling...
SISKO
Quark, shut up.
Quark moves over to Eris, who turns away from him...
QUARK
This is your fault... they were after
you, not us... why don't you say
something to them... ? Tell them you
never saw us before.
No response from Eris.
QUARK
(continuing, yelling
out again)
We have nothing to do with her!
This is a misunderstanding!
She loathes everything about Quark, turns her back to them
completely...
SISKO
Quark...
QUARK
I have the right to express my
opinion.

SISKO
(calm and controlled)
I'm about to put my fist in your

why you don't scare me? Because I'm
already more scared than I've ever
been in my life.
DEEP SPACE: "The Jem'Hadar" - REV. 04/22/94 - ACT TWO 23.

SISKO
You're not helping anything.
QUARK
I'm not helping. I don't see you
coming up with any ideas. Or her.
Sisko glances over at her... and although he would never
shove it in her face as Quark did, he knows she's the key to
their escape. He speaks to her indirectly by talking to
Quark.
SISKO
If she wants to help us, she will.
Right now, I'd say she's even more
scared than you are.
QUARK
Believe me, she's not.
Quark sits, beaten, exhausted.
SISKO
(for her benefit)
She's obviously been running from
these people for a while... she's
probably been through a lot... she
doesn't know who we are, what we're
about... when she begins to trust
us, maybe she'll work with us to
find a way to get out of here...
She listens but gives no indication that it had an impact...
Sisko sighs...
SISKO
I just hope Jake and Nog are smart
enough to stay out of sight until
help gets here...
QUARK
Trust me. I didn't raise my nephew
to be a fool. He'll find the nearest
dark hole and climb into it.
SISKO
(thoughtful)
I'm not so sure about Jake. If I
know him, he'll be looking for us...

QUARK
A lovely sentiment.
Sisko shoots him a look to shut up. He takes the small

Anything you can tell me about them
might be helpful...
ERIS
(amazed)
Are you saying you've never heard of
the Jem'Hadar?
SISKO
(warm, friendly)
We're not from around here. My name
is Ben Sisko, I'm from the United
Federation of Planets... we came
through a wormhole to get here...
our home is thousands of light years
away...
ERIS
My name is Eris.
SISKO
I'm glad to meet you, Eris. That's
Quark.
She looks with contempt toward Quark... who smiles
sarcastically at her.
SISKO
Tell me about the Jem'Hadar.
ERIS
(a beat)
They're the most feared soldiers in

QUARK
The Dominion?
(to Sisko)
The Ferengi have been trying to open
up trade negotiations with the
Dominion for almost a year now. But
we've never met the Jem'Hadar.
ERIS
Then you've been fortunate.
Negotiating with the Dominion can be
a dangerous thing.
SISKO
If it's so dangerous, then why would
anyone do business with them?
ERIS
The Dominion decides you have
something they want, and they come
and take it... either by negotiation
or by force.
(sad)
Believe me, I know. I've seen it
happen on my own world. Kurill Prime
was offered entry into the Dominion.
They thought our telekinetic abilities
would be useful to them.
SISKO
Back there in the camp, that's what
you used to knock me down.
ERIS
(nod)
When Kurill refused the Dominion's
offer, they sent in the Jem'Hadar.
They destroyed our communications
centers, executed our leaders, and,
before we realized it, they had seized
control of the entire planet.
SISKO
How'd you manage to escape?

ERIS
I was on a freighter returning home
when the attack occurred. We fled,
but they came after us.
SISKO
Why?
ERIS
My mother was an outspoken opponent
of the Dominion. I suppose they
wanted to make an example of my
family.
SISKO
(re: the collar)
That thing they put around your
neck...
ERIS
It suppresses my telekinetic
abilities. Without it, I might be
able to break through the security
barrier.
Sisko gives Eris a reassuring smile.
SISKO
Then we'll just have to find a way
to get this collar off.
Sisko begins examining the collar.
ERIS
Even if we do get past the barrier,
no one escapes from the Jem'Hadar.
Sisko smiles, trying to keep up Eris's morale.
SISKO
Luckily for us, they seem as sure
about that as you do.
Eris looks up at Sisko, surprised by his statement.
SISKO
Look around you. They've placed the
three of us in the same containment
field. I've never seen more than
four guards on duty at any one time.
DEEP SPACE: "The Jem'Hadar" - REV. 04/22/94 - ACT TWO 25C.

They're overconfident. And that's
going to help us get out of here.
A beat, then Eris nods. She may not seem totally convinced,
but it's a start.
SISKO
Maybe if I can pry off that casing,
I can get to the locking mechanism.
Sisko notices a broach on Eris's clothing.
SISKO
(re: the broach)
May I?
ERIS
Of course.
Sisko takes the broach from Eris and uses part of it as a

QUARK
Hello... I know someone must be

35 INCLUDE SISKO AND ERIS
Who are seated away from Quark. Sisko's still working at

ERIS

He's not so bad. Whoever's in charge, you're

Doesn't he realize he's

Sisko does not seemed all that annoyed by Quark's behavior.
SISKO QUARK

36 ANGLE ON THE ENTRANCE
to include Third TALAK'TALAN, the Jem'Hadar leader.
Talak'talan, like all Jem'Hadar, carries himself with a
certain relaxed confidence. He's not the kind of stiff-backed
spit-and-polish Cardassian soldier we're used to. Nor does
he swagger like a Klingon. He knows he's the best, and has
nothing to prove.
Among Talak'talan's military gear and paraphernalia, there's
a tube running up from his uniform into his neck. This tube
is common to all the Jem'Hadar.
37 NEW ANGLE (OPTICAL)
Sisko stands up immediately, and Eris follows suit. Quark
backs away from the entrance as Talak'talan disengages the
forcefield and ENTERS the cell.
SISKO
I'm Commander Benjamin Sisko of the
United Federation of Planets. I
want to know why we're being held
here.
TALAK'TALAN
That's not my concern.
SISKO
Then why won't you let us go?
TALAK'TALAN
Because the Founders don't want you
released.
SISKO
And who are the Founders?
TALAK'TALAN
That's not your concern.

Talak'talan's hand shoots forward. His fingers grip Quark's
chest. The Jem'Hadar begins squeezing. Quark howls in pain
as Talak'talan begins to crush his ribcage.
Sisko moves to save Quark, but suddenly there's a weapon in
Talak'talan's other hand, aimed right at Sisko.
TALAK'TALAN
Don't bother, Commander. I'm not
going to do any permanent damage.
He shoves Quark away. Quark stumbles back against the far
wall and collapses in a heap, rubbing his chest and whimpering
quietly. Eris glances at him with contempt, then looks away.
SISKO
If the Founders are the ones who
give you your orders, I want to meet
them.
TALAK'TALAN
Those aren't my orders.
ERIS
He can't take us to the Founders
because they don't exist. They're a
myth.
TALAK'TALAN
The Founders exist. They created
the Dominion...
SISKO
(fishing)
And the Jem'Hadar are their servants?
TALAK'TALAN

the first race I'd meet from the

warriors. What's that weapon they're

SISKO
I'm not interested in discussing the
Klingons.
TALAK'TALAN
All right. Then what about the
Cardassians? Are you satisfied with
the treaty your Federation made with
them. It seems a tactical error.
SISKO
How do you know so much about our
side of the galaxy?
TALAK'TALAN
We gain more knowledge every day.
And now we have you to help us learn
more.
SISKO
I don't plan on telling you anything.
TALAK'TALAN
I won't be the one asking the
questions.
SISKO
Who will?

SISKO
You're welcome to come back to the

SISKO
(holds out the pin)
Quark, we don't have time for this.
QUARK
But you're overlooking something.
Humans used to be a lot worse than

Auschwitz, the Tarsus Four Massacre...
we have nothing in our past that

barbarism.

You see, we're nothing like you.

He extracts his arm and looks at a small electronic component.
NOG
Is that it?
JAKE
I hope so.
(a beat)
Computer, what's the status of the
autopilot?
COMPUTER VOICE
The automatic pilot system is not
functional.
Jake and Nog exchange triumphant looks.
JAKE
(to com)
Lay in a course for the wormhole...
at warp eight.
DEEP SPACE: "The Jem'Hadar" - REV. 04/22/94 - ACT FOUR 40A.
51 CONTINUED: (3)
COMPUTER VOICE
Unable to comply. The automatic
pilot system is not functional.
Oops.
NOG
Now what?
JAKE
I guess we'll have to try and fly it
ourselves.
They both turn and look at the panels. There's a bewildering
array of controls.
52 EXT. SPACE - DEEP SPACE NINE (OPTICAL)
The Odyssey, a Galaxy-class starship, is docked at an upper
pylon.
53 INT. OPS
Kira, Dax, O'Brien, and BASHIR are seated around the Ops
table with the Odyssey's Captain KEOGH, a burly, no-nonsense
officer.
KEOGH
Starfleet's orders are simple.
Traffic through the wormhole will be
suspended until the Odyssey can
investigate the Jem'Hadar's threat.
DAX
What about Benjamin and the others?
Keogh doesn't appreciate the interruption.
KEOGH
Don't worry, Lieutenant. Commander
Sisko's return is a top priority.
DAX
If you're going to try to rescue
them, we're coming with you.
DEEP SPACE: "The Jem'Hadar" - REV. 04/22/94 - ACT FOUR 42.
53 CONTINUED:
KEOGH
Are you sure that's wise? With the
exception of Major Kira and Mister
O'Brien, none of you have had much
combat experience.
BASHIR
We fought the Maquis.
KEOGH
All the Maquis had were a pair of
lightly armed shuttlecraft. I expect
the Dominion to have sharper teeth.
KIRA
Then you're going to need all the
help you can get.
She's got a point. A beat as Keogh thinks it over.
KEOGH
Mister O'Brien, can you equip your
two remaining Runabouts with extra
banks of photon torpedos?
O'BRIEN
I've already started retrofitting
their weapons systems. They'll be
ready in a few hours.
DAX
It'll take at least that long to
offload all the nonessential personnel
from the Odyssey.
(off Keogh's look)
You were planning on doing that,
weren't you?
Keogh looks at Dax long and hard.
KEOGH
Lieutenant, have you ever thought of
serving on a starship?
DAX
I'm happy where I am.

KEOGH
(smiling)
Good.
(to Kira)
Major, be ready to leave at thirteen
hundred hours.
KIRA
Yes, sir.
DEEP SPACE: "The Jem'Hadar" - REV. 04/22/94 - ACT FOUR 43.
53 CONTINUED: (3)
KEOGH
I'll be aboard the Odyssey if you
need me.
Keogh EXITS.
54 NEW ANGLE
As everyone reacts to Keogh.
BASHIR
(to Dax, kidding)
I thought you said Keogh didn't like
you.
DAX
Did I say that?
KIRA
(to all)
Come on. You heard him. We've got
three hours.
54A INT. DOCKING RING CORRIDOR
Odo is walking with one of his deputies and a Starfleet
Security Officer.
ODO
Station security is to be on maximum
alert... I want random patrols of
all corridors and periodic sensor
sweeps of every level. The
Provisional Government has agreed to
send us a detachment of extra security
personnel.
(he gives the deputy
a PADD)
This outlines how I want them
deployed.
Kira comes around a bend in the corridor.
KIRA
Odo...
ODO
(acknowledging)
Major.
(to his men)
That'll be all.
DEEP SPACE: "The Jem'Hadar" - REV. 04/22/94 - ACT FOUR 43A.
54A CONTINUED:
The two Security Officers head off. Kira falls into step
with Odo as they continue on.
KIRA
Captain Keogh wants us to move up
our departure time. We've got to be
ready in fifteen minutes.
ODO
I'm on my way to meet Chief O'Brien
and Lieutenant Dax at the Mekong
right now.
Suddenly, Kira stops. Odo looks at her curiously.
KIRA
Are you sure you don't want to stay
and oversee things here on the
station? I don't know what we're
going to be up against once we get
there. Your duties don't require
you to come with us.
ODO
I realize that. But I figure while
you and the others are trying to
rescue Sisko and the boys, someone
better be there to look out for Quark.
They start walking again.
KIRA
(thinks he's joking)
Quark?
(sees that he's serious)
I thought you hated Quark.
ODO
I do. But I'd rather see him in
jail than in the hands of the
Dominion.
(a beat, a slight
admission)
Believe me, Major, if anything
happened to him, you'd miss him too.
KIRA
I'd be willing to take that chance.
(a beat, softening)
But not today.
DEEP SPACE: "The Jem'Hadar" - REV. 04/22/94 - ACT FOUR 43B-C.
54A CONTINUED: (2)
They come to a branch in the corridor. They stop. This is
were they have to go their separate ways.
KIRA
I'd better get to the Orinoco.
(with affection)
Odo... keep your head down.
ODO
(he's touched)
Make sure you do the same.
She nods and they part.

Kira is piloting, Bashir is copilot.
BASHIR
Where's the welcoming committee?
57 INT. MEKONG
O'Brien at the helm, Dax and Odo at other stations.
DAX
Maybe the Jem'Hadar were bluffing.
ODO
Or maybe it's a trap.
KEOGH'S COM VOICE
Odyssey to runabouts.

O'Brien brings up Keogh's transmission on the monitor.
Keogh is flanked by his FIRST OFFICER and SECOND OFFICER.
O'BRIEN
Go ahead, Captain.
While Keogh talks to O'Brien, his officers are at work in the
background.
FIRST OFFICER
(on monitor, in
background)
Preliminary tachyon scans are
negative.
Keogh nods and then turns his attention to O'Brien.
KEOGH
(on monitor)
We're not detecting anything on long
range scanners, but for all we know,
the Dominion could have cloaking
technology.
DAX
(to Keogh)
We'll keep our eyes open, sir.

59 EXT. SPACE - RIO GRANDE (OPTICAL)
The Rio Grande moves slowly and erratically through space.
60 INT. RIO GRANDE
Nog watches as a nervous Jake works the controls.
NOG
I'm telling you, we should go to
warp.
JAKE
First let me get the hang of flying
at impulse.
DEEP SPACE: "The Jem'Hadar" - REV. 04/22/94 - ACT FOUR 44A.

NOG
How hard can it be?
JAKE
Are you kidding? You think making
course corrections manually is easy?
NOG
But at this speed, it'll take weeks
to get home.
JAKE
Actually, it'll take about five years.
NOG
Can't we reassemble the autopilot?
DEEP SPACE: "The Jem'Hadar" - REV. 04/22/94 - ACT FOUR 45.
60 CONTINUED: (2)
JAKE
If Chief O'Brien taught me anything,
it's that it's a lot easier to take
things apart than put them back
together.
COMPUTER VOICE
Warning. Three ships coming out of
warp.
NOG
(another panic attack)
Where?
JAKE
(answering Nog)
Right there.
Nog looks up and we...
61 NEW ANGLE (OPTICAL)
We look past Jake and Nog's shoulders out the front window
at the Odyssey and the two Runabouts which have dropped out
of warp off screen.
62 RESUME SCENE
As Jake and Nog react to the ship.
O'BRIEN'S COM VOICE
Mekong to Rio Grande.
JAKE
(to com, relieved)
Chief... It's me, Jake.
KIRA'S COM VOICE
Jake, are we glad to find you.
Where's your father?
JAKE
He and Quark were taken prisoner.
O'BRIEN'S COM VOICE
Jake, come to a full stop. I'll
beam aboard.
DEEP SPACE: "The Jem'Hadar" - REV. 04/22/94 - ACT FOUR 46.

components.
O'BRIEN
(re: the mess)
Have some trouble getting her out of
orbit?
NOG
(impressed)
How'd you know?
Jake gets up so O'Brien can take over the controls.
JAKE
Chief, we've got to go back and save
my dad.
O'BRIEN
(determined)
Don't worry, son. That's exactly
what we're going to do.
And as O'Brien works the controls...

ACT FIVE
FADE IN:
65 INT. CAVERN CONTAINMENT AREA
Quark is hard at work, poking around in the locking mechanism
of Eris's suppression collar with an improvised tool. He
pushes against the back of her head to get a better angle.
Sisko is keeping watch for the Jem'Hadar.
QUARK
(making small talk)
This is a very sophisticated device.
Most telepathic suppressors I've
seen have been much bulkier. You
know, there could be a market for
this in the Alpha Quadrant.
ERIS
(pulling away)
You're hurting me.
QUARK
I'm sorry. But I don't have much to
work with.
ERIS
(angry)
You've been at it for hours.
QUARK
If you'd just stay still, I'd be...
Just then, we hear an electronic PING and the collar CLICKS
open.
QUARK
(continuing)
...done.
Eris ignores Quark. She rips the collar off and tosses it
aside.
DEEP SPACE: "The Jem'Hadar" - REV. 04/22/94 - ACT FIVE 47A.
65 CONTINUED:
SISKO
All right, let's get out of here.
ERIS
Stand back.
DEEP SPACE: "The Jem'Hadar" - REV. 04/22/94 - ACT FIVE 48.
66 NEW ANGLE (OPTICAL)
Eris concentrates on the ring. The mechanism sparks and the
barrier fritzes out.
67 INT. MAIN CAVERN (OPTICAL)
Sisko charges out of the containment area as a Jem'Hadar
guard appears. Sisko dives at the guard, knocking him to
the ground. Sisko grabs the guard's weapon as the guard
gets back to his feet. The guard pulls out another weapon,
but Sisko shoots him.
68 NEW ANGLE (OPTICAL)
He looks back to see Eris standing behind him, looking
weakened from the effort of destroying the security barrier.
There's no sign of Quark.
SISKO
(urgent)
Quark, move it.
69 INT. CAVERN CONTAINMENT AREA
Quark is retrieving Eris's suppression collar. He stuffs it
into his pocket.
QUARK
Right behind you.
70 INT. MAIN CAVERN (OPTICAL)
Sisko tosses Quark the weapon, then bends over to retrieve
another one and a Jem'Hadar guard shimmers into visibility
behind Sisko. Sisko doesn't see him in time, but...
71 INCLUDE QUARK (OPTICAL)
As he shoots the Guard. The Guard is blown backwards. Quark
turns to Sisko, who rises to his feet.
SISKO
Thanks.
QUARK
(genuine)
You're welcome.
The three of them disappear around a bend in the cave.

KIRA

74 INT. ODYSSEY - BRIDGE
Keogh and his officers.
KEOGH

FIRST OFFICER
Shields up.
SECOND OFFICER
Going to red alert.
75 INT. MEKONG
Dax and Odo raise their shields as well.
DAX
Take the helm, Odo. I'll handle the
targeting controls.
ODO
Very good.
76 INT. RIO GRANDE (OPTICAL)
O'Brien is frantically doing a diagnostic at the control
panel. The Odyssey is visible out one side window and another
runabout can be seen out the other.
DEEP SPACE: "The Jem'Hadar" - REV. 04/22/94 - ACT FIVE 50.

O'BRIEN

KEOGH
(on monitor)
Understood. Return to the wormhole.
We'll try to screen you from enemy
fire.
JAKE
What about my dad?
O'BRIEN
(to com)
Captain, I'd like to see if I can
get close enough to the planet to
locate Commander Sisko.
76A INT. ODYSSEY - BRIDGE
KEOGH
All right, but you have ten minutes,
then I want you out of there.
SECOND OFFICER
Enemy ships within range.
FIRST OFFICER
Ready to fire at your command.
KEOGH

The Rio Grande is no longer in formation. The Orinoco
and Mekong break away to engage the Jem'Hadar ships.
The Jem'Hadar and Federation ships exchange fire. The more
maneuverable runabouts avoid the Jem'Hadar weapons, but the
Odyssey is hit and sustains damage.
77A INT. ODYSSEY - BRIDGE
The Bridge is full of smoke and fire. Consoles are sparking,
red alert is flashing. It's a chaotic scene, but Keogh
remains a stabilizing force in the center of the turmoil.
Another explosion rocks the Bridge as Keogh gets his officers
reports.
FIRST OFFICER
I'm getting casualty reports from
decks four, five, eight and seventeen
and we have a plasma leak in our
port nacelle.
KEOGH
Deploy damage control teams.
(to com)
Keogh to runabouts.
KIRA'S COM VOICE
Go ahead.
KEOGH
They're using some kind of phased
polaron beam to penetrate our shields.
78 INT. MEKONG
Dax and Odo are getting shaken by near misses.
DAX
Have you tried altering your harmonics
to compensate?
DEEP SPACE: "The Jem'Hadar" - REV. 04/22/94 - ACT FIVE 52.
78A INT. ODYSSEY - BRIDGE
KEOGH
(to com)
We rotated through the full spectrum

Divert your shield power to weapons.
We'll give O'Brien five more minutes,
and then we're getting out of here.

80 INT. ORINOCO
As before.
KIRA
(to com)

(to Mekong)
Dax, let's see if we can take some
pressure off the Odyssey.
DAX'S COM VOICE
We're with you.
Bashir puts the runabout into a tight turn.
BASHIR
Hang on.
81 OMITTED
82 INT. JUNGLE - DAY (OPTICAL)
Sisko and Eris are hurrying through the jungle. An exhausted
Quark is trying to keep up, but is rapidly falling behind.
QUARK

Sisko helps Quark to his feet.
ERIS
He's slowing us down. He can hide
in the underbrush. We'll transport
him to safety once we get to your
ship.
SISKO
I'm not leaving him behind.
(smiling at Quark)
We never would've gotten away from
the Jem'Hadar without him.
QUARK
(pleased)
Thank you, Commander.
(glaring at Eris)
I'm glad someone around here
appreciates me.
Suddenly, all three of them DEMATERIALIZE.
83 INT. RIO GRANDE
Jake rushes to embrace his father.
JAKE
Dad.
SISKO
This has turned into some science
project, huh, Jake?
NOG
Uncle Quark...
QUARK
(angry)
Nog, you are never going on a "field
trip" again.
Sisko takes the co-pilot's seat.

They start to leave.
SISKO
And Jake...
(with affection)
You did good.
Jake smiles. That's the best thing he could hear.
84 EXT. SPACE (OPTICAL)
The Orinoco and the Mekong sweep past a Jem'Hadar ship,
exchanging fire with it. The Jem'Hadar ship is crippled.
84A INT. MEKONG (OPTICAL)
Looking over Dax and Odo's shoulders and out through the
front window at the Jem'Hadar ship, which fires back, rocking
the Mekong.
85 NEW ANGLE
The runabout has been badly damaged. Smoke leaks into the
cockpit as Dax fights to work the weapons.
DAX
My control panel is dead...
ODO
We've lost our sensors.
86 INT. ORINOCO
Kira continues firing while performing complex evasive
maneuvers.
KIRA
(to com)
Break off, Mekong. Initiate evasive
maneuvers. We'll lay down covering
fire.

O'BRIEN'S COM VOICE
Rio Grande to Odyssey. We've got
Sisko.
Kira and Bashir exchange smiles.
DEEP SPACE: "The Jem'Hadar" - REV. 04/22/94 - ACT FIVE 54.
86A INT. ODYSSEY - BRIDGE
The situation has worsened. The ship continues to be rocked
by enemy fire.
KEOGH
Well done, Chief.
FIRST OFFICER
(shouting orders in
background)
Damage control team to level seven.
(to Keogh)
Our tactical control systems are
down. We've lost power to phasers.
KEOGH
(to com)
Bridge to Engineering, get that port
nacelle back on line.
COM VOICE
Aye, Captain.
KEOGH
Keogh to runabouts, we've got what
we came for. We'd better fall back
to...
And suddenly the Odyssey shakes violently and Keogh is almost
thrown off his feet.
87 INT. RIO GRANDE (VPB)
Their monitor displays nothing but static.
O'BRIEN
Their communications array must've
been hit.
SISKO
(to com)
Kira, Dax, you heard him. Let's get
out of here.
DEEP SPACE: "The Jem'Hadar" - REV. 04/22/94 - ACT FIVE 54A.
87A EXT. SPACE (OPTICAL)
The Odyssey and the Runabouts turn away from the remaining
two Jem'Hadar ships.
88 INT. ORINOCO
BASHIR
(off monitor)
Major... one of the Jem'Hadar ships
is making a direct run at the Odyssey.
KIRA
Move to intercept.
89 EXT. SPACE (OPTICAL)
But it's too late. As the Odyssey makes a long, slow turn,
a Jem'Hadar assault ship plunges straight at it in a kamikaze
run. The Orinoco fires but the Jem'Hadar ship crashes right
into the Odyssey's forward hull near the main deflector dish.
Both ships explode in a ball of fire.
90 INT. MEKONG
As orange light from the fireball reflects off Dax and Odo's
face.
91 INT. ORINOCO
Bashir and Kira also react to the destruction of the Odyssey.

92 INT. RIO GRANDE
Sisko, O'Brien, and Quark react grimly to the loss.
O'BRIEN
We were retreating. There was no
need for a suicide run.
SISKO
They're showing us how far they're
willing to go.
(grim, to com)
Set a course for the wormhole.
93 OMITTED
94 EXT. SPACE - DEEP SPACE NINE (OPTICAL)

95 INT. RIO GRANDE
The Rio Grande has docked. Jake and Nog EXIT into the
airlock, followed by Eris and O'Brien. As they move off,
Quark lags behind and stops Sisko in the doorway.
QUARK
Commander, wait.
Quark looks to see that everyone else is out of sight, then
he takes out Eris's suppression collar.
QUARK
We need to talk.
And there's something about the serious tone in Quark's voice
that makes Sisko listen. Off Sisko's questioning look...
96 INT. OPS
Eris and O'Brien have met up with Odo, Bashir, Kira and Dax.
Eris is looking around at Ops.
ERIS
I can't believe I'm on the other
side of the galaxy.
SISKO (O.S.)
You'll get used to it.
DEEP SPACE: "The Jem'Hadar" - REV. 04/22/94 - ACT FIVE 56.
97 NEW ANGLE
As Sisko, Quark, and two Federation Security Guards emerge
from the Turbolift. Sisko and the Security Guards immediately
fan out and point phasers at Eris.
SISKO
(to the senior staff)
Move away from her.
Though unsure why, everyone backs away from Eris.
ERIS
I don't understand.
QUARK
(holding up the
suppression collar)
I've been looking over this collar
of yours. I thought if I could
replicate it, I might be able to
turn a tidy profit. Imagine my
surprise when I discovered there's
nothing in here. It's just a
complicated locking device.
SISKO
Which means you could've used your
telekinetic abilities at any time.
So the question is, why didn't you?
Eris looks at Quark with contempt, and then stares defiantly
at Sisko.
ERIS
You seem to already know the answer.
SISKO
(he thinks he does)
The Jem'Hadar wanted us to escape,
didn't they? That was the plan all
along... for us to bring you back
here, so that you could spy on the
Federation.
ERIS
(patronizing)
Well done, Commander.
DEEP SPACE: "The Jem'Hadar" - REV. 04/22/94 - ACT FIVE 57.
SISKO
You're one of the Founders, aren't
you?
ERIS
You think the Founders would waste
their time with you?
SISKO
Constable...
Odo steps forward.
ODO
(to Eris)
Madam, if you'll come with us...
Eris takes one step backward from Odo and the Security guards.
She keeps her eyes focused on Sisko.
ERIS
(to Sisko)
You have no idea what's begun here.
And with that...
98 ERIS (OPTICAL)

like the Jem'Hadar did.
99 NEW ANGLE

She didn't rematerialize anywhere on
the station and there are no ships
nearby.
BASHIR
Then where is she?
A beat. No one has an answer.
KIRA
She'll be back. The question is...
who she'll bring with her?
That's a question they're all asking themselves. But Sisko
has more pressing concerns.
SISKO
If the Dominion comes through the
wormhole, the first battle will be
fought here. And I intend to be
ready for them.
We pan across the determined faces of our regulars, ending
with...
100 SISKO
Prepared for whatever waits ahead. Hold on him for a beat,
and then...
FADE OUT.
