POLICE DEPARTMENT -- DAY] (Darryl talks with Kyle Brody.) KYLE BRODY: Sheridan? She got transferred to another district. That's all. DARRYL MORRIS: I saw you shoot her in the neck with a tranquilizer gun. KYLE BRODY: She's fine. [Scene from 7X07: Someone to Witch Over Me] [INT. MANOR - CONSERVATORY -- DAY] (Phoebe talks with Paige.) PHOEBE: You're not gonna show him the Book of Shadows, are you? PAIGE: Yeah, I am. I trust him. I told you that. [Scene from 7X08: Charmed Noir] [INT. KYLE BRODY'S APARTMENT -- NIGHT] PAIGE: Shut up and kiss me. (Paige and Kyle kiss.) TRIQUETRA FLASH TO: [Scene from 7X07: Someone to Witch Over Me] [INT. MANOR - ATTIC -- NIGHT] (The Creature Head appears in the attic, swoops down on Leo, passes through the crystal cage and down into Leo's face where it is absorbed into Leo.) LEO: Ooh! (Leo passes into his second vision.) PIPER: (concerned) Leo? [Scene from 7X07: Someone to Witch Over Me] [INT. BLACK VOID - LEO'S SECOND VISION] (Leo and Alpha the Avatar talk.) ALPHA (AVATAR) Utopia -- that is what we represent, Leo, but we'll need your help to implement it. [Scene from 7X07: Someone to :Witch Over Me] [INT. MANOR - MAIN HALL/STAIRS - DAY] (Alpha transfers the Avatar's powers to Leo turning him into an Avatar also.) (Leo stops glowing. He turns around.) ALPHA (AVATAR): You're an Avatar now, Leo. You have the powers. TRIQUETRA FLASH TO: [Scene from 7X08: Charmed Noir] [INT. P-3 - BAR -- DAY] (Leo talks with Piper.) LEO: I want us to start over again. PIPER: I've spent months trying to keep you from falling into this psychotic abyss, and now that you're fine, I can't just flip a switch and be all lovey- dovey. It doesn't work that way. FADE OUT END OF PREVIOUSLY ON FADE IN [INT. MANOR - ATTIC - DAWN] (Camera slowly pans across the clock in the attic. It's 5:05 a.m. Piper is working at the table, a map open in front of her, a book open to the side. She draws a connecting line across the map and reaches for a push pin.) (As Leo walks into the attic, Piper accidentally pokes herself with a pin.) PIPER: Ow! LEO: What happened? Are you okay? PIPER: Yeah. Nothing a little sleep can't fix. (Leo walks over to her.) LEO: Here, let me heal that. PIPER: No. LEO: Come on. PIPER: I said no. LEO: Piper, this is ridiculous. We have to talk about this. PIPER: Actually, what we need to do is find where the next demon attack is gonna be, and I think I just did. A pentagram, naturally. LEO: What do you want from me? What do I have to do to prove that I've changed, that I'm okay? (Piper inhales and stands up. She doesn't want to talk about it now. She walks over to the door.) PIPER: Did Phoebe and Paige finish making the dye? LEO: You didn't answer my question. PIPER: Oh, I have to answer your questions, but you don't have to answer mine? LEO: What question? PIPER: The same question I've been asking you for several days now. What aren't you telling me? LEO: I don't know what you're talking about. PIPER: Oh. Right. Excuse me. (Piper turns and leaves the attic.) (After a beat, Leo follows her.) CUT TO: [INT. MANOR - MAIN HALL / STAIRS - DAWN -- CONTINUOUS] (Piper is walking down the stairs. Leo is keeping up with her.) PIPER: I can't get into this right now with you, okay? I've got an invisible demon killing innocents, and for all we know, they could be working with the Avatars. (Piper reaches the bottom of the stairs and turns toward the Dining room.) LEO: They're not working with the Avatars. PIPER: Oh, yeah? How do you know? (She stops and turns around. Leo spreads out his hands.) LEO: I don't! I mean, I just -- I don't think they're the threat everyone thinks they are. (Phoebe and Paige step out of the kitchen.) PHOEBE: Why? LEO: Because, if they're so powerful, wouldn't they have attacked by now? PIPER: Oh, sending a demon to possess you doesn't count? LEO: Still, I think that was their way of communicating with me, with us. PAIGE: Why didn't they just try calling you, Leo? PHOEBE: Are you hiding something? LEO: No. PIPER: (counters) Yes. (Piper turns around and looks at Phoebe and Paige.) PIPER: Are you sure those are gonna work? PAIGE: Yeah. As sure as I can be at 5 a.m. LEO: Before you go - PHOEBE: Do you know where the demon's gonna attack? PIPER: They're making a pentagram, and there's only one point left, so we need to get there before sunrise. (Piper goes to stand next to Phoebe and Paige.) LEO: Piper, you can't walk out on this! PIPER: You're right. We should orb. (to Paige) 16th and Mission. PAIGE: Got it. (Paige orbs them out of the manor.) LEO: (whispers) Damn it! (Leo turns around.) LEO: (shouts in frustration) I said: NO! (There's a loud pulse and everything rewinds - the camera goes backward up the stairs and we hear the murmuring sounds of people talking backward as if time itself were being re-wound.) (Camera goes backward up the stairs ... to the second floor ... up the attic stairs ... to the attic.) [INT. MANOR – ATTIC – DAWN] [LEO] (Leo looks around cautiously. He sees Piper sitting at the map table. She pricks her finger on a push pin.) [INT. MANOR - ATTIC - DAWN] PIPER: Ow! LEO: What happened? (Piper turns and looks at Leo. Leo turns and walks over to Piper.) PIPER: Nothing a little sleep won't fix. It's fine. LEO: Didn't you just say that? PIPER: What? (Leo looks as if he's going to say something, but stops himself.) LEO: Nothing. PIPER: I think I found where the next demon attack is gonna be. A pentagram, naturally. (Piper gets up and walks past Leo on her way to the attic door.) PIPER: Did Phoebe and Paige finish that dye yet? (Leo looks very confused as he tries to figure out what just happened.) LEO: I don't know. (Piper stares at Leo for a moment, but doesn't want to deal with it just then.) PIPER: Excuse me. (Piper turns and leaves the attic leaving Leo alone.) CUE SOUND: SWOOSHING SOUND (Behind Leo, Alpha and Beta appear in the attic. Leo turns to look at them.) LEO: Why did you do this? BETA (AVATAR): We didn't. You did. (Alpha steps closer to Leo.) ALPHA (AVATAR): You need to be more careful about your new powers, Leo. Reversing time can be very dangerous. (Camera holds on Leo.) FADE TO END OF TEASER ROLL TITLE CREDITS (COMMERCIAL SET) FADE IN. [EXT. VARIOUS SAN FRANCISCO (STOCK) - NIGHT] [EXT. HALLIWELL MANOR (STOCK) - NIGHT] [INT. MANOR - ATTIC -- NIGHT] (Alpha picks up an hourglass as he explains how things are to Leo.) ALPHA (AVATAR): Our powers are not meant to be used for personal reasons, Leo. You know that. LEO: I know. I didn't mean to. It just happened. ALPHA (AVATAR): Yes, because you wanted it to happen. BETA (AVATAR): You must be more careful in the future, learn to control your emotions. ALPHA (AVATAR): Control is the first discipline of an Avatar. Otherwise, our powers can become dangerous, to others ... as well as to ourselves. LEO: What do you mean? BETA (AVATAR): Reversing time the way you did requires great power. It drains the Collective, and it puts us at risk. ALPHA (AVATAR): And we must remain at full strength if we are to defeat the forces of evil, if we are to implement the change. LEO: I get that, but Piper's my wife. She knows something's up. I can't keep lying to her. ALPHA (AVATAR): We understand your position, Leo ... BETA (AVATAR): But to tell her outright might cause her to overreact and mistakenly view us as a threat. ALPHA (AVATAR): As might her sisters as well. BETA (AVATAR): They must come to the truth in their own time and in their own way, just as you did. LEO: What if they don't? What if Piper never sees the future you promised? ALPHA (AVATAR): You must help her to see it, Leo. You must gently guide her to it. BETA (AVATAR): This is the burden that you took upon becoming an Avatar. LEO: I'm not just an Avatar. I'm a Husband, and I'm a Father ... and I joined you to get that back. ALPHA (AVATAR): And you will get it back, Leo. You will, once we have ended this perpetual battle between good and evil, once we have brought forth a better way. (Beta and Alpha vanish leaving Leo alone in the attic.) CUT TO: [EXT. SAN FRANCISCO CITY LIGHTS (STOCK) - DAWN] [INT. 16TH AND MISSION -- ALLEYWAY -- DAWN] (Phoebe and Paige sit in an old abandoned car shell. They're both exhausted and half-asleep. Piper stands out of the car and in the alleyway.) PHOEBE: Okay, it's almost dawn, and nothing's happening. Can we go home and go to sleep now? PIPER: (whispers) Shh. Just stay focused. PAIGE: (echoes sleepily) Right, focused. PHOEBE: Maybe you drew the pentagram wrong. PIPER: I know how to draw a pentagram, thank you. PHOEBE: Yeah, but did you use a felt marker? The thickness of the tip led us astray a couple of blocks, huh? PIPER: We are not going home. What's the matter with you guys? Do you wanna save an innocent or not? PAIGE: Of course we do. It's just, uh ... PIPER: What? It's just what? (Paige hesitates.) PIPER: Now you're not telling me something? PAIGE: Leo's what. PIPER: What? PHOEBE: We just think that you may have been so eager to avoid Leo that you miscalculated the demon attack. PAIGE: What she said. PIPER: All right, fine. I admit it. I may be avoiding Leo, but that does not mean I am wrong about this. PAIGE: Why? Why are you so upset with him? He's been an Angel lately. PIPER: Yeah, well, that's the problem. He's been too perfect, even for him, and I just keep waiting for the other shoe to drop. (Piper takes a seat in the car next to Phoebe.) PHOEBE: Why don't you just talk to him about it? PIPER: I have, about a dozen times, and he just thinks I'm crazy or something, which is why I am channeling my frustration into something useful. PAIGE: I just want this demon to attack soon, so I can make my breakfast date with Kyle. PHOEBE: Yeah, see, breakfast is not a date. Dinner's a date. Lunch is definitely maybe a date. Breakfast? Always just breakfast. PAIGE: As long as he doesn't talk about the Avatars, it can be breakfast, lunch, or dinner, and I will consider it a date. (Phoebe's cell phone rings.) PAIGE: Who is calling you at this hour? (Phoebe looks at the ID and puts the phone down. She rolls her eyes.) PHOEBE: No one. PIPER: Avoiding someone? (A car pulls into the alley. Paige turns around to look.) PAIGE: Is that our Innocent? (The driver steps out of the car.) PIPER: We're about to find out. Get the dye. (The driver opens the warehouse door.) PIPER: They have to become visible to attack. Let's go. (They get out of the car.) CUT TO: [INT. 16TH AND MISSION -- WAREHOUSE - DAWN -- CONTINUOUS] (The Innocent pushes the warehouse doors open and finds himself face-to-face with Malvoc.) INNOCENT: Who the hell are you? MALVOC: It won't matter. (Malvoc punches the Innocent in the chest. The impact sends the innocent across the warehouse. He crashes to the floor.) (Piper, Phoebe and Paige step forward.) PIPER: Hey! (Piper blasts Malvoc, hitting him in the arm.) MALVOC: (screams) Aah! (Malvoc looks to his left.) MALVOC: Kill them. (Malvoc vanishes. Phoebe turns to her right looking at nothing, but knowing that the demons are there.) PHOEBE: Throw the dye! (Phoebe and Paige throw the vials of dye up in the air. Piper waves her hands and breaks the vials mid-air sending the dye sprinkling down on the three demons below making them visible.) (Two of the three demons have energy balls in their hands.) (One demon throws the energy ball. Paige counter-swings.) PAIGE: Energy ball! (The energy ball is sent back at the demon, vanquishing him.) PHOEBE: Heads up, guys. (The second demon throws the energy ball at Phoebe. Phoebe grabs a nearby pipe and swings it like a bat, hitting the energy ball and sending to back to the demon. It hits the demon, vanquishing him.) DEMON 2: Aah! (Piper blasts the third demon. She misses him. He glares at them and vanishes.) PIPER: (sighs) Well, that didn't go too well. They were a lot more powerful than I thought. (Paige checks on the Innocent.) PAIGE: He's still alive. PPER: Okay, let's get him to magic school, and we'll find out who they are. PHOEBE: And make more potions. (Paige orbs the Innocent out of the alleyway.) CUT TO: [INT. UNDERWORLD - ENOCH GANG LAIR] (The Demons mill about the lair. Malvoc, the leader, sweeps into the room.) MALVOC (LEADER): The innocent has been marked and territory staked. Soon, every mortal within the pen will be ours alone to prey upon. VASSEN: But the innocent lives. Our rivals - MALVOC (LEADER): Can no more easily kill than we can ... now that The Charmed Ones are protecting him. VASSEN: Then how is the territory staked? As long as he lives, the Sokols could still try to claim it for themselves. MALVOC (LEADER): And we want them to try ... or, at least, make it look like they did. Witches don't know who we are, right? VASSEN: (nods) Right. MALVOC (LEADER): So we'll put them on our rivals' trail ... by making them think the Sokols attacked them. (The markings on his wrist magically changes to a different marking.) CUT TO: [EXT. SIDEWALK CAFÉ -- MORNING] (Paige and Kyle are meeting for breakfast.) KYLE BRODY: Ahem. PAIGE: So, this place is great. KYLE BRODY: Yeah? Y-you sure? I mean, you -- you like the place? PAIGE: Well, I've never had breakfast here, but I'm - (He chuckles.) I'm sure it's terrific. Yeah. KYLE BRODY: I guess I should've asked you out to dinner, huh? PAIGE: It's fine. I'm up this early anyway. KYLE BRODY: Well, you know, I figured since we got the first kiss out of the way and everything ... PAIGE: Out of the way? KYLE BRODY: Sorry. I didn't mean that. I did not mean that. I--I-- I just - you know, I'm rusty. PAIGE: All Avatars all the time? KYLE BRODY: Yeah, something like that. It's just that I've been chasing them for so long, you know? It hasn't left much time for a social life. PAIGE: Well, um, maybe it's time you start changing that, don't you think? KYLE BRODY: Yes, I think. It's just that they're so close, Paige. I mean, I know it, you know? I-I can feel it. PAIGE: But ... you promised. KYLE BRODY: You're right. You're right. That's it. No more Avatar talk, I swear. (Brody's cell phone rings. He turns his cell phone off and puts it in his pocket. KYLE BRODY: Hmm? PAIGE: (with approval) Good. That's a good start. (Kyle picks up his cup and takes a sip. He starts laughing.) PAIGE: What? KYLE BRODY: It's, uh -- it's vibrating. It just tickles a little, that's all. (He takes his phone out and changes the mode.) It's off. I promise. (He puts the phone down on the table.) No more distractions. (Brody's second phone rings.) KYLE BRODY: That's my emergency line. I gotta take this. Sorry. (to phone) Brody. Ahem. (As he talks on the phone, Paige looks around at the other couples having breakfast.) KYLE BRODY: What? All right, as soon as you get those numbers, you call me, all right? (He hangs up and turns to Paige.) Intel just detected another unusual power spike in the area. (Paige turns and looks at Kyle.) Paige, this could mean some serious Avatar activity. Don't you know what this means? (She nods.) PAIGE: Yeah ... yeah, I do. It means that you eat alone. I'm sorry. (Paige stands up. She grabs her bag and leaves.) KYLE BRODY: Paige, come on. I ... (to himself) Idiot! (Kyle puts his phone down on the table.) CUT TO: [INT. MANOR - KITCHEN -- DAY] (Piper takes down a glass bottle of an ingredient off the shelf. Phoebe walks into the kitchen.) PHOEBE: You know, the good thing about getting up so early is how much you could get done. I mean, already today, I've made demon dye. I've saved an innocent. I e-mailed in my column, plucked my eyebrows. (She laughs.) If it wasn't for sleep deprivation, I would be okay. PIPER: What about the demons? PHOEBE: Yeah, I couldn't find anything in the book to help identify them. But I did get to read up on the family history. Did you know that Beatrice Warren only had one leg? (Phoebe chuckles, turns and looks into the pot on the stove. She fiddles with the stirring spoon.) PHOEBE: What is this? You making spaghetti sauce? PIPER: No. That's, uh, demon blood. (Phoebe drops the stirring spoon.) PIPER: (continues) I got it from the salvage yard. I was gonna use it to scry for them after I make the vanquishing potion. (Phoebe sees the bottle on the counter.) PHOEBE: Wow. Jacklebeet. So, exactly which state are you trying to blow off the map? PIPER: I don't wanna take any chances. PHOEBE: We need two kitchens. PIPER: Do you know where the beetle toe is? PHOEBE: I think it's up in the attic. (Piper stares at Phoebe.) PHOEBE: Boy, when you're avoiding something, you really do a number, don't ya? PIPER: I seem to remember someone doing some avoiding a little while back. PHOEBE: (nods) Yeah, if you're talking about Leslie, you're absolutely right. But my big sister gave me some advice that I'm gonna give back to you. Stop dodging. Just talk to Leo. PIPER: On the subject of dodging, who called this morning? (Phoebe doesn't answer. Piper sees through it immediately.) Yeah. See, your "I'm covering something" look hasn't worked since the sixth grade, so spill. PHOEBE: Ok, but you can't tell Paige, 'cause I don't want her to get all paranoid. PIPER: Why would she get all paranoid? PHOEBE: Darryl actually thinks Brody had something to do with Sheridan's disappearance. (Piper sighs and hangs her head.) PHOEBE: Yeah. That's why I'm keeping it low-key. Darryl's on his way over. We're gonna talk about it while Paige is on her date. PIPER: Oh, he's talking to us again? PHOEBE: Kind of. Baby steps. (Leo orbs into the kitchen.) LEO: Hi. PIPER: Hi. (Piper looks at Leo and Phoebe.) PIPER: I'll be in the attic. PHOEBE: (urges to Leo) Well, go talk to her, would you?! Hurry up! Go! LEO: Right. (Leo takes off after Piper. The doorbell rings as Phoebe glances at her watch. She leaves the kitchen to answer the front door.) CUT TO: [INT. MANOR - FOYER / FRONT DOOR - DAY -- CONTINUOUS] (Phoebe opens the door. Darryl steps into the house.) DARRYL MORRIS: Hey. PHOEBE: Hey. (She closes the door behind him.) DARRYL MORRIS: Is this a good time to talk? PHOEBE: Uh, actually, yeah. Paige is out on a date. What did you find out? DARRYL MORRIS: Nothing. PHOEBE: Nothing. Okay, well, nothing is good, right? DARRYL MORRIS: No. I mean, I can't find anything. It's like Sheridan's disappeared off the face of the earth. PHOEBE: What are you saying? DARRYL MORRIS: I think that maybe Brody did something to make Sheridan disappear ... something bad, maybe. PHOEBE: No. I don't believe that. DARRYL MORRIS: That's because you don't want to believe that. Brody may have saved your butts -- I get that -- but if he did something to hurt Sheridan ... wrong is wrong. PHOEBE: Okay. Well, maybe I can get a premonition and see where she is. DARRYL MORRIS: No. No magic. I told you. I've done some soul-searching. I wanna help again, but I don't wanna go there anymore. PHOEBE: Darryl, you gotta get over this. I mean, really, one bad experience with magic can't outweigh six years of good, can it? (The front door opens and Paige walks in. She stops when she sees Darryl.) PAIGE: Hey. DARRYL MORRIS: Hey. Hey, Paige. PAIGE: Hey, Darryl. (Paige closes the door behind her.) PHOEBE: Uh, I thought you were on your date. PAIGE: Yeah. So did I. PHOEBE: Eeh. (Paige takes her coat off.) DARRYL MORRIS: (to Phoebe) Look, um ... tell Piper I said hello, okay? (Phoebe nods.) DARRYL MORRIS: Take care. PHOEBE: Take care. (Darryl leaves the house, the door closing behind him.) PAIGE: We're friends again? PHOEBE: (nods) Yeah. Weird. Bygones. (Phoebe walks away. Paige sighs.) CUT TO: [INT. MANOR - ATTIC -- DAY] (The kettle explodes in puff of smoke. Piper waves the white smoke away.) PIPER: Leo, please, this is not the time or place. LEO: I just want my family back, Piper. I just want you back. PIPER: I don't wanna talk about this right now. LEO: Why not?! PIPER: Because this is a little dicey here, okay? LEO: I know that, and that's why we need to talk. PIPER: No, not that, this. (She points to the kettle.) If I make one mistake, I can blow up the entire house, okay? So, this is a bad time. LEO: I just wish you'd trust me. PIPER: Yeah, well, maybe you should try telling me the truth. LEO: This is so frustrating. (Piper freezes.) (Phoebe and Paige climbing up the stairs freeze.) (The newspaper boy riding his bike outside the house freezes.) (The cable car at the juncture in town freezes.) (Alpha and Beta appear in the attic.) ALPHA (AVATAR): This can't keep happening, Leo. We've had this conversation. LEO: I can't help it. I can't keep doing this. BETA (AVATAR): You must keep up pretenses. There's no other way. LEO: There is another way. I could tell her the truth. BETA (AVATAR): Leo ... you don't understand. LEO: I know Piper. She doesn't wanna live like this any more than I do. She hates hunting demons all the time. She wants nothing but the best for herself, for her family, for all of us. She can handle the truth. I know she can. ALPHA (AVATAR): But if she can't, if she's not open to our way, it would risk everything we hope to achieve, everything we covet. BETA (AVATAR): And cause her to lose perspective in the process, ignore what shouldn't be ignored. ALPHA (AVATAR): Which would put her at risk as well. There's too much at stake, Leo. LEO: She can handle it. (Alpha looks at Beta. He looks over at Piper.) ALPHA (AVATAR): He needs to see for himself. BETA (AVATAR): But what of the risk? ALPHA (AVATAR): It's no greater than that of him ... tapping into the collective without intending to. BETA (AVATAR): Very well, but if anything goes wrong, everything may be lost. Our powers are not inexhaustible. (Alpha nods. Leo nods. Alpha and Beta vanish from the attic.) (Time resumes.) (Piper adds an ingredient to the kettle.) PIPER: What is the matter? LEO: I, uh -- I need to tell you something. PIPER: I'm listening. LEO: Well, the reason I know the demons aren't working with the Avatars is ... is because I'm an Avatar. (Piper laughs with disbelief.) PIPER: What? (She looks at Leo. He smiles at her and she sees that he's telling her the truth.) PIPER: Oh, my god. (She the entire bottle of beetletoe slips from her fingers and falls into the kettle. The kettle explodes throwing Piper across the attic.) LEO: Piper? (Leo runs over to check on Piper. She looks at Leo. She doesn't want his help.) PIPER: No! You stay away from me. (Piper gets to her feet and steps away from Leo. Camera holds on Leo.) FADE OUT. (COMMERCIAL SET) FADE IN. [INT. MANOR - ATTIC -- DAY] (Open on a broken clock on the floor. It reads 10:10 a.m.) (Phoebe and Paige walk into the attic.) PHOEBE: What happened? (Piper is picking up the broken glass on the attic floor. Leo kneels behind her trying to help, but she won't let him.) LEO: Let me help. PIPER: Don't! LEO: Piper, please. PAIGE: Can someone please just tell us what happened? (Piper stands up and puts some of the pieces she picked up back in the kettle.) PIPER: The potion blew up, and, uh, Leo's an Avatar. PHOEBE: What?! PAIGE: What? PIPER: Oh, you know, the gathering storm, looming threat, that would be Leo. LEO: We're not a threat. We're trying to save the world from itself. PHOEBE: Wait ... did he just say "we"? I think he just said "we." LEO: You know, you wanted the truth, and I told you. They said you had to come to it on your own. I said you could handle it. PIPER: Handle what, that you're what everybody is afraid of, even the Elders? LEO: They're afraid because they don't understand. They can't understand. The Avatars are beyond Good and Evil. They're everything we've been searching for, a life without demons. (There's an awkward moment of silence.) PAIGE: Okay, he's cracked. PHOEBE: Absolutely. LEO: No. I have never been more clear about anything in my life. Piper, I beg you not to be closed to this. It's everything we've been searching for, everything we wanted, I promise. PIPER: I think you need to take the boys to Magic School. LEO: But -- PIPER: Please. I need time to think about all of this. PAIGE: Are you sure you can trust him? (Piper sighs.) PIPER: I can trust my husband with our children. (to Leo) Now, please, go. (Leo walks out of the attic.) PHOEBE: Do you think he's telling the truth? PIPER: It would be a really stupid lie if he wasn't, don't you think? (Phoebe doesn't say anything.) PIPER: Sorry. PHOEBE: It's okay. PAIGE: What are you gonna do? PIPER: I don't know, but we have a demon to vanquish first and an innocent to protect, so ... PAIGE: Yeah, but - PIPER: Look, just remake the potion for me, and I'll go get cleaned up, and be careful of the beetletoe. (Piper leaves the attic.) PAIGE: Okay, we have bigger things to worry about than potions. PHOEBE: I agree. We have to save Leo. PAIGE: Yeah. We're gonna have to ask for Kyle's help. FLASH TO: [INT. UNDERWORLD - SOKOL CAVERN] (Malvoc and Vassen attack two of the Sokol Demons from the back.) SOKOL DEMONS: Mmmph! Uhh! (They remove their unique arm bands just before the demons turn into dust.) VASSEN: Now what? MALVOC: Put them on. (Malvoc puts on his armband.) VASSEN: Why? MALVOC: Because we're going to attack The Charmed Ones next. VASSEN: Malvoc, that's suicide. MALVOC: Only if we die, but I only plan to fight long enough for them to identify us, as Sokols. Then our enemies becomes their enemies. VASSEN: Fine. They'll vanquish them, but others will still come to challenge us for the territory. MALVOC: They won't be able to after we kill the innocent. Those ancient rules are etched in ... brimstone. And after they vanquish our rivals, they'll think the threat to the innocent has passed ... VASSEN: ... and then return him. (Getting it, Vassen looks down at his own armband.) We'll need more of these. (They smile at each other just before they vanish out of the cave.) CUT TO: [INT. MAGIC SCHOOL - STUDY -- DAY] (An Elder orbs into the Magic School Study where Leo is.) FEMALE ELDER: Something's happened, Leo. LEO: Look, I don't have time for this. I have to get back to Pip -- FEMALE ELDER: We've detected a power surge, a time shift. That could only mean one thing. The Avatars are making their move. LEO: How do you know it's them? FEMALE ELDER: Because no demon has this kind of power, not since the Source. LEO: So ... What do you want from me? FEMALE ELDER: We want you to alert The Charmed Ones. We expect that the Avatars will be coming after them first. (Leo hesitates.) FEMALE ELDER: What is it? LEO: Nothing. I just don't know how much we know about 'em, that's all. FEMALE ELDER: We know they're a threat. LEO: Why, because they have power? FEMALE ELDER: Yes. The kind of power that in the wrong hands could be a danger to us all. LEO: Ok, so, are we a threat? FEMALE ELDER: I'm sorry. LEO: Elders. I mean, we have a great power, but we're only a threat to demons. FEMALE ELDER: And your point is? LEO: My point is is that we don't know enough about them to fear them. How do we know they're not a benevolent power I mean, who are we to judge them before even meeting them? FEMALE ELDER: If they were benevolent, they wouldn't lurk, insidiously waiting to make their move. They would show themselves. (Leo is quiet.) FEMALE ELDER: This is no time to lose your faith in all that we're about, Leo, despite all that's happened in the past. We need you on our side. (The Female Elder orbs out.) (Leo exhales the breath he's been holding.) CUT TO: [INT. MANOR - MAIN HALL / SITTING ROOM -- DAY] (Piper walks down the stairs and into the Dining room. Leo orbs into the Conservatory.) PIPER: Have you seen Phoebe and Paige? LEO: Aren't they upstairs making potions? PIPER: No. How are the boys? LEO: They're fine. Miss Donovan's with them. PIPER: And the innocent? LEO: Sleeping, still under the effects of the potions. How are you? PIPER: How am I? LEO: I mean, with all this. PIPER: I don't know. I have questions. LEO: Well, you can ask me. I can answer them now. PIPER: What are they exactly? Or should I say, what are you exactly? LEO: I'm the same man you married, Piper, someone who wants nothing but the best for his family. PIPER: And the Avatars are gonna give us that how? LEO: By using their powers -- our powers -- to change what has always been, to remake what is. PIPER: That sounds like a load of crap. LEO: I know it does, but it's not. PIPER: You know, for all we know, they're exactly like everything else we've been fighting. LEO: They wanna end everything we've been fighting against, put an end to the struggle once and for all. PIPER: (laughs) That's impossible. LEO: I know. I used to think it was, too, but now I know it's not. They wanna make the world better for everybody. PIPER: And those floating heads that tormented you, they made your life better? LEO: That was just a way to ... get my attention, make me open to a new idea. PIPER: Leo ... LEO: Piper. Think about it. A demon-free world? It's everything we always dreamed about. Don't you think we should at least consider that after everything we've been through? (Piper is very quiet.) (In the Conservatory, three Enoch Demons dressed as Sokol demons appear in the manor. The first one throws an energy ball at Leo. He moves and the energy ball misses him, hitting the cabinet in the kitchen hallway.) (The second demon throws another energy ball. Leo dives into Piper, pushing her out of the way. The energy ball hits the planter on the dining room table.) (Leo and Piper stand up. Leo shoots a beam of electricity at the first demon, vanquishing him in a burst of flames.) (The second demon throws an energy ball hitting Piper on the arm.) (With one hand, Leo throws more electricity at them, missing the second demon, but vanquishing the third. The second demon falls to the floor. He clutches his neck. An arm band slides across the room toward him from the side.) (The demon looks up and finds Vassen standing on the side smiling down at him.) (Meanwhile, Leo checks on Piper's wound.) PIPER: Just a graze. (Leo pushes the dining room table aside startling Piper. He walks over to the remaining demon.) DIFFERENT ANGLE (From Vassen's POV, Leo steps up to the doorway and shoots all his power at the remaining demon. Vassen notes Leo as he vanishes out of the manor.) (Leo turns and just barely misses seeing Vassen.) (Something's not right.) (Leo turns back to check on Piper.) (He holds out his hand and heals Piper's wound. She lets him.) PIPER: They really want that innocent. I just wish I knew why. LEO: There'll be more of them. PIPER: Yeah, well, at least we have a way to find them now. (She looks down at the arm band left on the Conservatory floor.) LEO: I don't mean just them, Piper. I mean demons. And they'll just keep coming back, over and over, just like they always have, unless we let the Avatars stop it ... forever. CUT TO: [EXT. BRODY'S APARTMENT (#6) - HALLWAY - DAY] (Paige raises her hand to knock on the door when it opens. Kyle's putting his jacket on and almost bumps into her.) [INT. BRODY'S APARTMENT -- DAY] KYLE BRODY: Oh, Paige. I was, uh -- PAIGE: Hey. KYLE BRODY: Okay. I'm sorry about breakfast. Ok, I didn't handle it well. And -- and, look, I know what you're gonna say. I'm obsessed about the Avatars. I know. PAIGE: That's not it! It's just that -- KYLE BRODY: Look, it's not gonna happen again. All right? I promise. PAIGE: It's not that! Leo's an Avatar! He told us this morning. KYLE BRODY: What? How? (Paige walks into his apartment.) PAIGE: We don't know. He -- he didn't say. He just kind of dropped a bomb on us this morning. We don't know exactly what it means. (Kyle turns and crosses the room to the closet. He opens the closet door and walks inside. He doesn't say anything.) PAIGE: Where are you going? (Phoebe walks into the apartment.) PHOEBE: Parking sucks in this city! How's he taking it? (In the closet, Kyle pushes a loose board in the ceiling aside to remove a case.) (Phoebe's cell phone rings. She check PHOEBE: (to phone) Hello? Yeah. DARRYL MORRIS: (from phone) It's Darryl. INTERCUT WITH: [EXT. SIDEWALK - DAY] DARRYL MORRIS: (to phone) I'm stumped. Maybe you could use a little hocus- pocus to find out what Brody did with Sheridan. PHOEBE: (to phone) Ok, uh, but now's not really a good time, so can I call you back in a little bit? All right. Bye. (Phoebe hangs up.) PAIGE: What are you looking for? (Kyle comes out of the closet with a metal case. He shuts the KYLE BRODY: This. Does he know where the Others are? PAIGE: "Others" who? KYLE BRODY: (shouts) The other Avatars! (Kyle opens the case. Inside is an ancient-looking vial.) PAIGE: No. He didn't say. Why? (Phoebe walks up to him.) PHOEBE: What is that? (He takes the potion out.) KYLE BRODY: It's a potion. PHOEBE: For what? KYLE BEODY: For killing Avatars. (With the potion in his hand, Kyle grabs his gun and heads out of the apartment. Phoebe looks back at Paige.) FADE OUT. (COMMERCIAL SET) FADE IN. [INT. MANOR - FOYER - DAY] (Kyle bursts into the manor looking for Leo.) KYLE BRODY: Where is he? (Paige and Phoebe follow him into the manor.) PAIGE: Kyle, would you stop, please? PHOEBE: We are not gonna let you kill Leo. KYLE BRODY: You don't understand. He's an Avatar now. PAIGE: No, he's actually our brother-in-law. PHOEBE: How can you be so sure the potion's even gonna work? KYLE BRODY: Because they killed my parents over it, that's why. PAIGE: One potion. That's all you have. You cannot get even with them all. KYLE BRODY: Oh, the hell I can't. Their powers are all tied together. You kill one of them, it weakens them all. They become vulnerable. PAIGE: This is ridiculous! Leo did not kill your parents! KYLE BRODY: If he's one of them, he did. PHOEBE: He just became one of them! Look, we didn't come to you so you can kill Leo. We came to you to help us get rid of them. KYLE BRODY: This is the only way to get rid of them. When my parents uncovered this, they didn't just discover a potion. They discovered a battle that happened five thousand years ago over our very future. They fought the Avatars then, and we gotta fight 'em now. (Kyle walks into the next room. Paige rolls her eyes and follows him.) [INT. MANOR - MAIN HALL / SITTING ROOM - DAY -- CONTINUOUS] (Phoebe and Paige see the mess in the dining room.) PHOEBE: What happened in here? PAIGE: Piper? PIPER: (o.s.) Upstairs! PHOEBE: At least we know she's okay. PAIGE: Well, looks like the demons didn't wait for us to go after them. They came here first. KYLE BRODY: How do you know the Avatars didn't do it, huh? (He brushes past them and heads for the stairs.) PHOEBE: You know, he'll kill you first. You won't even be able to get that bottle out of your hand. KYLE BRODY: We'll see. PAIGE: Look, I get that this is about your parents. I do, really. KYLE BRODY: Yes! It is about my parents, and, no, you don't get it. PAIGE: The hell I don't. My parents were killed, too, remember? KYLE BRODY: Paige, my parents were murdered. PAIGE: Look ... Leo is not the bad guy here. For all we know, he was -- he was brainwashed or possessed or something. Just, please, give us a minute. Just wait down here. (Phoebe remains quiet as she looks from Paige to Kyle.) PAIGE: Please? KYLE BRODY: Just don't let him go, all right? I've spent twenty years looking for the Avatars. I'm not about to lose them now. (Kyle steps aside to let Paige and Phoebe upstairs.) CUT TO: [INT. MANOR - ATTIC - DAY - CONTINUOUS] (Phoebe and Paige walk into the attic.) PAIGE: Piper, what happened? Are you okay? PIPER: No thanks to you. PAIGE: What is that supposed to mean? PIPER: What it means is it would've been nice to have a vanquishing potion when we were ambushed, a vanquishing potion that you were supposed to make, by the way. PAIGE: Oops. PIPER: Yeah, oops. Where the hell were you? PAIGE: I was at Kyle's. LEO: What were you doing there? PAIGE: Frankly? Trying to save you. LEO: Trying to save me. I don't need saving. I know what I'm doing. PAIGE: Do you know Kyle's parents were killed by the Avatars? LEO: That's impossible. It goes against everything they believe in. PHOEBE: Well, you're gonna have to come up with a better argument than that if you go downstairs. LEO: Why is that? PIPER: He's downstairs? Why is he downstairs? PAIGE: You don't wanna know. PHOEBE: He thinks you're a threat, Leo, to all of us. PIPER: Well, he's wrong. PHOEBE: How do you know? PIPER: Because! Look, I know this is a shock to everyone, but he didn't have to tell us the truth. He wouldn't have if it was a bad thing. PAIGE: Piper, everything, and I mean everything, points to them being bad. Even the Elders think so. LEO: Because they don't understand. PHOEBE: So, what, we're just supposed to take your word for it? How do we know you're not possessed or something right now? (Leo chuckles.) LEO: Come on. PHOEBE: No, Leo, I'm serious! How do we know? LEO: Because they haven't threatened anything we believe in! It's all good. PIPER: We at least need to think about it. PAIGE: Since when did you jump on this Avatar train? PIPER: When I started thinking about what my kids' lives would be like fighting the battles we've been fighting our entire lives. PHOEBE: But it's what we do. It's what we were born to do. PIPER: That does not mean we have to die doing it. PAIGE: Yeah, maybe you should try to talk to Kyle, hear his side of the story. PIPER: I don't need to. I need to vanquish demons again. (Piper picks up the armband. She takes ahold of Leo's hand and he orbs them out of the attic.) PHOEBE: Now what? CUT TO: [INT. UNDERWORLD - SOKOL CAVERN] (The Leader of the Sokol gang questions his guard.) SOKOL LEADER: How is it you're the only one who still lives? GUARD: I wasn't with them. I swear! I don't know what happened to them! (The Sokol Leader powers up a fireball and shoves it down the Guard's mouth. The Guard shakes and quivers and explodes.) (The Sokol Leader turns to the rest of his gang.) SOKOL LEADER: Something ... is not right! Why would Malvoc attack only to retreat? How would that help him get to the innocent? (Piper and Leo orb into the cave. Piper holds up the arm band.) PIPER: Lose something? (She tosses it to them. It falls to the floor. She throws the potion and vanquishes two demons standing in the foreground.) (Leo holds out his hands and releases an enormous amount of power of light and fire at the other demons vanquishing them where they stand.) (The light ebbs and the smoke clears. The demons are gone.) PIPER: What was that? LEO: All part of the package. PIPER: That was a lot of power. LEO: Yeah, but it's used wisely. See, the Avatars could destroy us or force us to change, but they don't. Isn't that enough reason to trust them? CUT TO: [INT. MANOR - CONSERVATORY -- DAY] (Paige and Phoebe watch as Brody paces the floor.) KYLE BRODY: How could you let him go? How could you let the Avatar go? PHOEBE: Okay, he's still Leo, so would you stop referring to him as "The Avatar," please? KYLE BRODY: All right, we gotta fix this, and we gotta fix it fast. Now, where did he go? PAIGE: I don't know. He orbed out with Piper. KYLE BRODY: But how do you know he didn't go to alert the others? How are we supposed to stop them? PAIGE: He didn't. I promise. KYLE BRODY: How do you know? Huh? How can you be so sure? (shouts) I cannot believe you guys let him get away! PAIGE: Okay. Something is wrong. He's not acting like himself. PHOEBE: I think you need to orb that potion away from him before he does something stupid. PAIGE: What if he flips out? PHOEBE: I think he already has flipped out, Pai -- (A tranquilizer gun fires and Paige falls to the floor, the dart embedded in her back.) (Phoebe turns around and sees Kyle with the tranquilizer gun in his hand.) PHOEBE: What did you do?! KYLE BRODY: It's just a tranq. (He tosses the gun aside.) She'll be fine. (He reaches into his jacket pocket and takes out his gun. He points it at Phoebe.) PHOEBE: What are you doing? KYLE BRODY: I'm killing an Avatar, and nobody's gonna stop me. CUT TO: [EXT. 16TH AND MISSION -- ALLEY -- DAY] (Leo orbs Piper and the Innocent into the alleyway. The Innocent is still sleeping.) (Leo stands up.) PIPER: He should wake up in a couple minutes. LEO: Thanks, Piper. PIPER: For? LEO: For believing in me. PIPER: I always have. I always will. It's the only way-- LEO: I know. (The Innocent starts to come to. As soon as he wakes up, Malvoc appears in the alley. In his hand, he has an energy ball. He throws it at the Innocent, killing him.) (Malvoc looks at Leo and Piper. He raises his hands showing them the marking on the back of his wrist.) MALVOC: Thanks for helping. (Malvoc vanishes.) PIPER: What just happened? We vanquished them! LEO: No, we didn't. PIPER: Yeah, we did. LEO: No, we vanquished the wrong ones. He had different markings. PIPER: What do you mean? LEO: We were tricked. PIPER: Yeah, well, we wouldn't have been if Paige and Phoebe weren't off chasing Avatars instead of helping me. CUT TO: [INT. MANOR - SITTING ROOM / CONSERVATORY -- DAY] (Paige is on the floor out cold.) (Leo and Piper orb back into the manor. Piper and Leo step forward.) PIPER: Paige? KYLE BRODY: She's fine. (Piper turns and sees Phoebe sitting in a chair. Kyle is pointing his gun at her.) KYLE BRODY: You and I are gonna have a little chat. FADE OUT. (COMMERCIAL SET) FADE IN. [INT. MANOR - CONSERVATORY -- DAY] (We continue where we left off. Leo takes a step toward Kyle.) LEO: Let's just take a deep breath here. We can talk this out. KYLE BRODY: Ah-ah ... (Leo stops.) PIPER: (warning) Leo ... KYLE BRODY: I don't want to hurt her, but I will if I have to. Your kind is responsible for a nightmare that won't go away, for all those nights waking up in a sweat begging that the flashbacks were just a dream. PIPER: Kyle, please. KYLE BRODY: It's not a dream, though, is it, Leo? You Avatars are as real as the air that we breathe and just as vacant. My parents were viciously murdered by them. So if I were you, Leo, I'd do what I say. (In one hand, Kyle holds the gun against Phoebe's head; in the other, he has the ancient vial.) LEO: The Avatars couldn't have killed your parents, Kyle. They believe in peace. KYLE BRODY: I'm gonna give you three seconds to summon one of your buddies here, so I can kill them. If you don't, I'm gonna kill you. LEO: I can't do that. KYLE BRODY: One ... LEO: Avatars aren't the enemy, Kyle. KYLE BRODY: Two ... PIPER: Leo! KYLE BRODY: Three! PIPER: No! [SLOW MOTION] (Piper moves aside. Phoebe dives to the side. Leo swings and shoots a beam of light clear through Kyle. He lets go of the vial as his gun discharges. Kyle is flung backward.) (The bullet misses Phoebe completely. Kyle hits the far end of the Conservatory doors.) (The vial hits the floor and breaks.) (Black smoke is released from the vial. It rises up and finds its way directly to Leo. As Piper watches, it enters him through his nose and mouth. Leo gasps.) [RESUME MOTION] (Leo falls backward to the floor. Piper kneels down next to him.) PIPER: Leo? LEO: (gasps) Piper, wasn't supposed to happen like this. PIPER: No, it's okay. It's okay. (Phoebe slowly gets up.) PIPER: (crying) Not him, please. (Leo gasps.) (Phoebe turns and sees Kyle dead.) PIPER: Leo? Leo, come on. (Phoebe turns back to look at Piper and Leo.) [TIME FREEZES] (Phoebe freezes.) (Piper freezes.) (Leo looks around. Alpha and Beta appear in the Conservatory.) LEO: (whispers) I don't understand. How did this happen? ALPHA (AVATAR): The potion is real, Leo. It kills Avatars. (Leo gasps.) BETA (AVATAR): The Collective weakens with every last breath you take. We told you, the truth must come to them in their own time, not yours. LEO: But, Piper, she ... ALPHA (AVATAR): Understood, yes, but the others were not able to, (Alpha kneels down next to Leo.) -- and so we became the enemy out of fear and ignorance. BETA (AVATAR): And an innocent was lost because of it. ALPHA (AVATAR): Everything was lost. LEO: I was just trying to make things right with Piper. ALPHA (AVATAR): Of course. But you've learned, and now you can save yourself. You have it in you to rewind time to just before you told Piper the truth, if you hurry. BETA (AVATAR): If we all hurry. (Leo gasps. He closes his eyes. Alpha and Beta close their eyes also.) (Leo concentrates and time rewinds.) (There's a loud pulse. A golden glow starts from Leo's mind and like before, everything rewinds - the camera goes backward up the stairs and we hear the murmuring sounds of people talking backward as if time itself were being re- wound.) (Camera goes backward up the stairs ... to the second floor ... up the attic stairs ... to the attic.) [LEO] (Leo looks up. He sees Piper frozen over the potions table, the ingredients she's adding frozen in mid-air.) [INT. MANOR - ATTIC - DAY] (He looks around.) LEO: It worked. ALPHA (AVATAR): Yes, but at a price. All that's happened has taken a great toll on our power. As it is, we may not have enough to implement our plan. BETA (AVATAR): To rid the world of demons, to end the duality requires all that we had. LEO: But if the sisters come to the truth, won't their powers add to the collective? BETA (AVATAR): Yes, but it may not be enough. ALPHA (AVATAR): You must not try this ever again, Leo. You can never tell Piper about us, not until she's truly ready. (Beta and Alpha disappear.) (Time resumes) PIPER: Leo, please, this is not the time or place, okay? I don't want to get into this right now. This is a little dicey. LEO: Okay. PIPER: Thank you. LEO: You're distracted. PIPER: Please, don't tell me how to demon hunt. LEO: I'm not. I didn't mean to. Let's just focus on getting the demons. (Piper's pouring the beetletoe into the potion.) Not too much beetletoe. You don't want to blow up the place, do you? PIPER: No. Why are you being so nice all of a sudden? LEO: (chuckles) I don't know. I guess I just realized I can't force things on you. If you're gonna trust me, you're gonna come to it in your own time. PIPER: Hmm. (smiles) There may be hope for you yet. LEO: Bottle up the potions. I think I know where the demons are gonna attack next. (Piper picks up the potions bottles from the table.) CUT TO: [INT. MANOR - MAIN HALL / SITTING ROOM - DAY -- CONTINUOUS] (Piper and Leo are standing in the Dining Room. Piper's holding two potion bottles in her hand.) (The three Enoch Demons disguised as Sokol Demons appear in the Conservatory. They're surprised to find Leo and Piper already there waiting for them.) LEO: Now! (Piper throws the potions just as Leo fires a wave of power at the demons. When it clears, the demons are gone.) (Piper looks at Leo.) PIPER: That was easy. LEO: Wait. (Leo walks over to the Conservatory.) (On the side, Malvoc appears in the room carrying the Sokol arm band. Leo walks into the Conservatory. Malvoc looks up and sees Leo.) LEO: Hey. (Leo blasts Malvoc with beams of electricity. Malvoc explodes.) LEO: All right. (Leo turns to Piper who is stunned by what she just saw.) LEO: Now all we have to do is get rid of the other gang and we can bring the innocent back. PIPER: All right, I give up. How did you figure all this out? LEO: You don't want to know, believe me. (Piper nods.) CUT TO: [EXT. HALLIWELL MANOR (STOCK) - DAY] [EXT. SAN FRANCISCO (STOCK) - DAY] [EXT. SAN FRANCISCO (STOCK) - NIGHT] [EXT. ROOFTOP - NIGHT] (Candles and Christmas lights decorate the rooftop as Paige and Kyle sit at the table.) PAIGE: What? KYLE BRODY: Nothing. Just, uh, glad you gave me another shot, that's all.
