FADE IN:

[EXT. PARK -- DAY]

(A group of children laugh as they run across the grass playing with a ball.
They run past a sign: HAPPY BIRTHDAY DAVID !!)

(Camera continues downward and we find Piper standing next to a decorated party
table rolling up streamers. Phoebe sits at the table helping her.)

PHOEBE: So, what are you so afraid of?

PIPER: I'm not afraid. (Phoebe smiles at her.) I'm not! I'm just ... not
sure.

(Prue joins them, placing a box of things on the table.)

PRUE: Not sure of what?

PHOEBE: Josh. He wants to have "the talk" with Piper.

PRUE: What talk?

PHOEBE: Three dates, no sex. There could only be one talk he's talking about.
The talk. Safe sex, prior partners ... standard dating protocol.

PIPER: And sex equals relationship.

PURE: And you're not sure that you want to be a couple.

PIPER: Uh, well, it's not that I don't like him.

PHOEBE: Then what's wrong with being a couple?

PIPER: Well, I thought Leo and I were a couple and then we ... coupled, and he
took off.

PRUE: Yeah, well, men seem to have a different definition of coupling than
women do.

PHOEBE: I do not think that's why Leo left.

(At her cryptic remark, Piper looks at Phoebe. Prue also looks at Phoebe.
They're interrupted when Dee Hatcher and her son David join them.)

DEE HATCHER: Hey, Prue.

PRUE: Hey, Dee, how are you?

PIPER: (to David) Hey, how's the party going?

(Prue's phone rings.)

DAVID HATCHER: Great! We're playing squish the squash and nobody's been able
to catch me.

(They chuckle. Prue answers her phone.)

DAVID HATCHER: Is the cake ready?

PIPER: Uh, yeah. Give us about five minutes.

DAVID HATCHER: Awesome! (David runs and joins the group of boys.) Hey, Guys!
Five minutes till the cake!

DEE HATCHER: Thanks for doing all this, Piper. I never would' b been able to
afford ...

PIPER: Oh, hey. That are friends for? Besides, it's worth it just to see the
look on David's face.

PHOEBE: He is such a great kid.

DEE HATCHER: Yeah, I know.

(Prue hangs up.)

PRUE: Well, so much for my Saturday off. That was Claire. Something at the
auction house that needs to be appraised so I got to go. I'm so sorry.

DEE HATCHER: Aww ... bye.

PRUE: Bye.
PIPER: Bye.
PHOEBE: (waves) Bye.

(Prue leaves.)

(David and the other kids continue to play with the red ball, running across the
park.)

(One kid throws the red ball high and into the bushes.)

DAVID HATCHER: I'll get it.

(David breaks away from the group to run after the ball. He runs into the
bushes and picks up the ball. He tosses the ball back over the bushes toward
the other kids.)

(As he's ready to leave, David hears something meowing. He turns around to
investigate.)

(Hidden in the bushes is a white-faced demon. As David turns to check the
bushes, the Grimlock jumps out and grabs David.)

DAVID HATCHER: Oh! Help!

(Prue's walking along the pathway. She hears David's cry for help. She turns
and sees David struggling with the Grimlock.)

DAVID HATCHER: Aah! Let go of me! Help!

(Prue steps to the side to help. She raises her hands and motions.)

PRUE: David, no!

(Magically, the Grimlock and David are separated and lifted high up into the air
where they hang suspended.)

(Behind Prue, Eric Lohman, a newsreporter, watches quietly.)

(After a moment, Prue puts her hands down and looks at them. David and the
Grimlock both fall to the ground. David tries to run, but the Grimlock grabs
him again.)

DAVID HATCHER: Aah!

(The Grimlock picks David up and carries him off into the bushes.)

DAVID HATCHER: Help! Leave me alone! Help!

(Prue takes off after them.)

(Eric Lohman stands off in the back, an eager smile on his lips.)

(Cut to: The Grimlock runs through the bushes with David tucked under his arm.)

DAVID HATCHER: Help! Let go of me! Help me!

(Prue runs after them.)

DAVID HATCHER: Help!

(The Grimlock stops in a small clearing.

DAVID HATCHER: Let go of me!

(The Grimlock waves his hand and a hole opens in the ground.)

DAVID HATCHER: Let me ...

(The Grimlock jumps into the hole with David tucked under his arm.)

DAVID HATCHER: Aaaahhh!

(The hole closes.)

(Prue reaches the small clearing and looks around. She doesn't see any sign of
the Grimlock or David.)

(Camera slowly pulls away from Prue standing in the middle of the park
clearing.)

[EXT. VARIOUS SAN FRANCISCO (STOCK) - DAY]

[EXT. PARK -- DAY]

(Dee Hatcher sits in the back of the police car. Piper stands in front of the
open door consoling her.)

(Cut to: Phoebe and Prue walk across the park lawn. There are officers there
interviewing possible witnesses.)

PHOEBE: What did you tell him?

PRUE: That I saw a creature with whirling eyes take David.

PHOEBE: And what did he say?

PRUE: What do you think he said? He thought I was nuts.

PHOEBE: Yeah, well, it turns out David's not the first one to be taken. An
inspector told me that another boy disappeared yesterday in the exact same spot.

PRUE: A demon who steals kids. Does it get any worse?

PHOEBE: Uh, yeah. Apparently, it also happened twenty years ago. Same park,
two kids.

PRUE: Did they ever find the kids?

PHOEBE: I don't know.

(Phoebe and Prue walk past Piper. She looks up noting them. She turns back to
Dee.)

(Phoebe and Prue continue to discuss the kidnapping.)

PRUE: You know ... I could've saved him.

PHOEBE: Prue, don't go there.

PRUE: No. I was just so surprised. I looked down at my hand, and ...

PHOEBE: It was the first time you channeled your power through your hands.
Give yourself a break. Your power's growing.

PRUE: Yeah. I just hope no one saw me.

PHOEBE: Ok, well, look on the bright side. You ... won't have to squint your
eyes anymore. You were starting to get those little lines.

(Piper joins them.)

PHOEBE: So, how's Dee doing?

PIPER: Not good. It's very frustrating not being able to tell her who we are
and how we can help.

PRUE: Yeah, well, the sooner we get to the Book of Shadows, the sooner we can
get David back home.

PHOEBE: An albino demon with whirling eyes. Sounds like a whole chapter to me.

(Prue's phone rings. She glances down at her bag, opens it in frustration and
digs inside for her phone.)

PRUE: I forgot about the appraisal.

(She takes out the phone, but doesn't answer it immediately. She puts a hand to
her forehead in frustration.)

PIPER: Oh, it's ok. Just go. Phoebe and I can look in the Book, and we'll call
you if we find anything.

PRUE: Are you sure?

(The phone continues to ring. Phoebe reaches for Prue's phone and shuts it
off.)

PHOEBE: Don't you just hate cell phones? Always out of range.

(She winks as she hands the phone back to Prue. Prue smiles gratefully back at
her.)

PRUE: Call me.

(Prue turns and leaves.)

(Cut to: Prue heads for her car. She opens the door and slips inside.
Watching her from behind is Eric Lohman biding his time by doing some stretching
exercises against the tree.)

(He smiles as he watches her car leave. He walks off camera frame.)

CUT TO:

[INT. STORM DRAIN - DAY]

(The Grimlock walks along the old abandoned storm drain corridor. In the
background, we hear David yelling.)

DAVID HATCHER: Let go of me! Let go of me! Let go ... Help!

(The Grimlock walks up to a wire caged off area.)(

DAVID HATCHER: Leave me alone! Help!

(The Grimlock rattles the wire cage.)

DAVID HATCHER: Help me! Ah!

(Inside the cage, we see a young boy sitting on the dirty floor, his knees drawn
up, arms resting on his knees and head tucked in the cradle of his arms.)

(The Grimlock turns around and kneels down next to David behind held on the
floor by a Second Grimlock.)

DAVID HATCHER: Let go of me! Ah!

(David struggles.)

(The first grimlock raises his hand and blue electrical sparks shine on David's
face. Both Grimlocks look down at David, the one holding David down has
completely black eyes while the other has whirling white eyes. The sparks hit
David's eyes and he stops struggling.)

(Close up of David's eyes as the blue sparks shine on his eyes. Cut to: The
Grimlock's eyes change.)

(David closes his eyes as the sparks stop. The Grimlock opens his eyes and they
are no longer white and whirling, but completely black.)

(David opens his eyes and his eyes are completely white.)

DAVID HATCHER: (panicking) I can't see.

(David blinks.)

DAVID HATCHER: Why can't I see? Mom? Mom!

CUT TO:

[EXT. HALLIWELL MANOR (STOCK) - DAY]

[INT. MANOR - KITCHEN -- DAY]

(The Book of Shadows is on the table open to a page on DEMONS. Piper closes the
Book in frustration.)

PIPER: Nothing.

PHOEBE: Did you look under "whirling eyes"?

(Phoebe is sitting in front of the computer and on the internet. Piper hops
down from her chair and starts going through the cabinets taking down a couple
of food boxes.)

PIPER: About an hour ago. I found demons with no eyes, demons with four eyes,
eyes that grow legs, but no whirling eyes. Did you find anything?

PHOEBE: I found some news clippings about the kidnapping twenty years ago. Uhh
... both boys were taken in the same place as David, and, uh ... (She turns
around to look back at Piper.) ... one of them was never seen again.

(Piper closes the refrigerator door, another box of something in her hand.)

PIPER: Oh, great.

PHOEBE: But the other one was found. It's ... right here. His name was, uh ...
Brent Miller.

(Piper walks across the kitchen to reach up on the shelf for something. Phoebe
turns around and watches as Piper pulls down various boxes of food.)

PHOEBE: Look, honey, I know that you're upset, but that is not going to help
you.

PIPER: It's not for me. It's for Dee. I'm taking her a care package. Keep
reading.

(Phoebe turns back to the laptop as Piper walks to the table and puts the boxes
down.)

PHOEBE: (reading) "Brent Miller was discovered two days after he was taken,
roaming the streets. He was fine, except ... he'd gone blind."

PIPER: Blind?

(Piper joins Phoebe and sits down at the table.)

PHOEBE: Yeah. He claimed that some storm-drain monsters stole his eyesight, and
of course, the authorities believed he'd just caught a parasite.

PIPER: We can't tell Dee that her son might be blinded.

PHOEBE: Well, maybe if I could find this Brent Miller guy on the web, he might
know something that could help us.

PIPER: (worried) I hope you're right.

PHOEBE: Piper ... we're going to find David.

(Piper nods and stands up to finish her care package.)

[EXT. BUCKLAND AUCTION HOUSE -- DAY]

[INT. BUCKLAND AUCTION HOUSE - PRUE'S OFFICE -- DAY]

(Prue sits at her desk working. Eric Lohman appears in the doorway and walks
into the office.)

ERIC LOHMAN: Prue Halliwell?

PRUE: Yes.

ERIC LOHMAN: Hi. Eric Lohman, Bay Weekly. Alternative Press. Have you heard
of us?

(He holds out his hand and she shakes it.)

PRUE: Sorry.

ERIC LOHMAN: No? Oh, you will.

(Eric Lohman puts a business card on her desk near the phone.)

ERIC LOHMAN: Listen, I was hoping maybe you could help me with a story I'm
working on.

PRUE: On the auction business?

ERIC LOHMAN: No actually ... on magic.

PRUE: (casually) Magic? Why would you come to me?

ERIC LOHMAN: I don't know. Maybe because I saw you levitate two people in the
park with just a wave of your hand. (Prue looks at him.) I take that as a "no
comment." (He shrugs.) So what are you, anyway, some kind of a ... David
Copperfield? (He turns and picks up an artifact off of her table.) Lance
Burton? A freak of nature? (He chuckles.)

PRUE: (grimly) I don't know what you're talking about.

ERIC LOHMAN: Look, Prue. Your friends call you Prue, right?

(Prue stands up.)

PRUE: I would like for you to leave.

ERIC LOHMAN: Well, tough. Get over it. I had my police sources check you out.
It's interesting how your name keeps popping up in all these unsolved murder
cases, don't you think?

PRUE: What does that have to do with anything?

ERIC LOHMAN: Maybe nothing. But if I write an article on it, it might look
like something. Does your boss subscribe to my paper?

PRUE: Don't threaten me.

ERIC LOHMAN: What are you going to do? You gonna ... make me fly into a wall?
(He laughs.) Come on.

(He deliberately pushes the crystal bowl off Prue's desk. It shatters as it
hits the floor. Prue gasps. Eric Lohman watches her carefully.)

ERIC LOHMAN: Gee, how clumsy of me.

(He kneels down and scoops up the shards, putting them on Prue's desk.)

ERIC LOHMAN: Bet that took a lot of self-control, huh, not to use your powers?

PRUE: You're a real credit to your profession.

ERIC LOHMAN: You know, that kid saw what I saw, too. Cops get him, he's all
the corroborating evidence I need.

(Prue picks up the phone.)

PRUE: (to phone) Security.

(Lohman presses the disconnect on the phone.)

ERIC LOHMAN: Prue, be smart. Work with me. I'm going to break this story one
way or the other, and when I do, I can either make you sound like Wonder Woman
or the devil incarnate. Ok? Think about it.

(Lohman turns and heads out the office. Prue glares at his back. He lifts a
hand and waves back to her without turning around. He leaves.)

(Camera holds on Prue.)

CUT TO:

[EXT. MILLER'S APARTMENT BUILDING (STOCK) - DAY]

LUCY (HOUSEKEEPER): (v.o.) Mr. Miller will be in shortly.

[INT. MILLER'S RESIDENCE -- DAY]

(Lucy shows Phoebe into the living room. Phoebe admires the view.)

PHOEBE: Wow, what a great view. You can smell the ocean.

(Brent Miller, led by his seeing-eye dog, enters the room.)

BRENT MILLER: And ...hear the traffic.

PHOEBE: Uh ... Brent Miller?

(Lucy leaves.)

BRENT MILLER: That's what they tell me.

PHOEBE: Hi. I'm Phoebe Halliwell.

(Phoebe holds out her hand, realizes that he can't see it and pulls her hand
back.)

BRENT MILLER: Phoebe, allow me to introduce you to Helmeth.

PHOEBE: Oh, he's beautiful. So is this place.

BRENT MILLER: Didn't think a blind guy could live so well, huh?

PHOEBE: Oh, no, no, that's not what I meant at all.

BRENT MILLER: Oh, I know you didn't. No, I design software for the visually
impaired, so ... life has been good to me. So how can I -- how can I help you,
Phoebe?

PHOEBE: Uh, actually, I wanted to talk to you about ... (Phoebe glances behind
her.) ... when you were kidnapped as a child.

BRENT MILLER: I'm sorry, I'm not, uh ... I'm not very comfortable talking about
that.

PHOEBE: I understand, but I read a lot about it--

BRENT MILLER: I said I'm not interested in talking about it.

PHOEBE: Okay, but this just isn't for me.

BRENT MILLER: (firmly) I said no!

(Helmeth barks. Lucy walks back into the room.)

LUCY (HOUSEKEEPER): Is everything all right, Mr. Miller?

BRENT MILLER: Yes. Lucy, please just, uh, show this lady to the front door.

(Lucy starts to lead Phoebe back to the door. After a couple of steps, Phoebe
turns around and tries again with Brent Miller.)

PHOEBE: No. You know what? I'm not leaving. It's happening again. In the
last 24 hours, two little boys were kidnapped from the same park that you were.
(beat) Maybe by the same monsters that took you.

BRENT MILLER: It's all right, Lucy.

(Lucy takes Helmeth and leaves.)

BRENT MILLER: (sighs) You, uh ... believe my story about the ... monsters?

PHOEBE: Yes, I do.

BRENT MILLER: Why, when everyone else has always laughed at me?

PHOEBE: Well, maybe it's because I've seen my share of monsters, and I haven't
told anybody about them because I didn't want them to laugh at me either.

(She sighs.)

PHOEBE: Mr. Miller, I know that you wouldn't want what happened to you to
happen to these two little boys. Please.

(He sighs down.)

BRENT MILLER: There were two of them. Terrifying creatures, really. They ...
dragged me into a storm drain, to a junction of some kind. They held me down.
I remember blue sparks hitting my face. My eyes felt like they were on fire,
and, uh ... that was the last thing I ever saw.

PHOEBE: Why do you think they took your eyesight?

BRENT MILLER: I don't know. But I remember them saying something about ...
auras.

DISSOLVE TO:

[EXT. SAN FRANCISCO BRIDGE (STOCK) - NIGHT]

[EXT. SAN FRANCISCO PHILHARMONIC - FRONT - NIGHT]

(A crowd of concert patrons leave the building. They linger outside in small
groups.)

(From the storm drain across the street, the two grimlock's peer out through the
opening under the curb. They look at the various patrons in front of them and
find one particular man, Jerry Cartwright, with a soft, golden glow around him -
his aura.)

(One of the Grimlock's reaches out a hand and makes a grabbing motion, fingers
clenching into a loose fist. Jerry Cartwright starts choking, the soft, golden
glow around him slowly disappearing as if being sucked out from within him.)

(Jerry Cartwright falls to his knees, gasping and choking, clutching at
invisible fingers around his neck. His aura is completely gone.)

(Jerry Cartwright is dead.)

(Shocked patrons kneel around him. The Grimlocks disappear back into the storm
drain.)

FADE OUT.

[EXT. HALLIWELL MANOR (STOCK) - NIGHT]

[INT. MANOR - STAIRS TO FIRST FLOOR -- NIGHT]

(Piper sits on the stairs leafing through the Book of Shadows.)

PIPER: Auras, auras. I know I saw something in here.

(Phoebe runs down the stairs and sits next to Piper.)

PIPER: Here it is -- auras. Oh. Grimlocks.

(Piper finds the page. It reads:

AURAS: The soul energy that every humnan possesses. Its strength is determined
by the amount of goodness a person creates.

GRIMLOCKS: are white Demons with whirling red eyes. Underground demons who roam
from city to city killing powerful forces of good by seeing the unique auras
that surround them, which they are able to do by stealing the sight of innocent
Children. The stolen eyesight will last twenty-four hours, but only if the
children are alive. After the children's eyesight has waned, the Grimlocks
consume them.

To destroy a Grimlock: [...] )

PHOEBE: (reading) "Underground demons who roam from city to city killing
powerful forces of good by seeing the unique auras that surround them ...

PIPER: (reading) ... "Which they are able to do by stealing the sight of
innocent children."

PHOEBE: So they're like hit men for the dark side.

PIPER: (reading) "The stolen eyesight will last twenty-four hours, but only if
the children are alive." (Phoebe looks at Piper's watch.) Which means we have
less than fourteen hours. (reading) "To destroy a Grimlock, gather a
schisandra root..."

PRUE: (o.s.) Piper! Phoebe!

PIPER: Oh.

(Phoebe stands up and heads down the stairs. Piper puts the Book aside and gets
up to follow her.)

[INT. MANOR - MAIN HALL - NIGHT - CONTINUOUS]

(They find Prue standing at the base of the stairs.)

PHOEBE: Uh-uh. I know that look.

PIPER: What's wrong?

(Prue turns and heads for the sitting room where she heads for the window.)

PRUE: (upset) A reporter saw me use my powers at the park, and he's
threatening to write an article about it.

PIPER: What?

PHOEBE: Does he have any proof?

PRUE: Just what he saw.

(Prue looks out the window.)

PHOEBE: So it's your word against his.

PRUE: Yeah. The difference is, his word is delivered to a half million homes
each week.

(Prue heads back to Piper and Phoebe.)

PIPER: Well, everything happens for a reason. Maybe it's time to let the world
know about us.

PRUE: Piper, being outed would only make our lives worse.

PIPER: We don't know that. At least I could tell Dee what we were doing and
give her some hope.

PHOEBE: No, Prue's right. If we're exposed, we're gonna have every crazy
hounding us day and night.

PRUE: Not to mention the media circus on our front lawn. Remember E.T.?

PIPER: Well, we can't worry about that now. We have to find those boys. I'm
gonna go and see Josh and see if he has a map or something of the storm drain
system.

(Piper steps out of camera frame to get her jacket.)

PRUE: Storm drains?

PHOEBE: It's where these demons live.

PRUE: Well, there's got to be at least a hundred miles of storm drains in this
city.

PHOEBE: Well, I'll go talk Brent again and see if he can remember where the
grimlocks took him.

PRUE: Brent?

(Piper joins them again as she slips on her jacket.)

PIPER: Oh, Prue, the Book of Shadows said the only way to kill a Grimlock is to
blind it with a potion made from schisandra root. Can you find some?

PRUE: Yeah, I'll try, as long as that reporter isn't following me.

PHOEBE: Okay. Be back soon.

(Phoebe and Piper head for the door.)

PHOEBE: (to Piper) Hey. What if Josh wants to have "the talk"?

(Phoebe grabs her jacket.)

PIPER: I'll tell him I have a headache.

(Piper opens the door and walks out. Phoebe follows her.)

PHOEBE: All right.

(She closes the door behind her.)

FADE OUT.

(COMMRCIAL SET)

FADE IN.

[EXT. POLICE STATION (STOCK) - NIGHT]

[INT. POLICE STATION - BULLPEN -- NIGHT]

(Andy walks into the bullpen carrying a couple of cups of coffee.)

ANDY: Anything on the night sheet?

(He walks up to Darryl who is looking through a file and hands him his cup of
coffee.)

DARRYL MORRIS: Medical Examiner -- thank you - (Darryl hands the file to Andy.)
-- sent this over. It's Jerry Cartwright. A saint. Donated millions to the
city's anti-drug program.

(They both take their seats at their desks.)

ANDY: M.E.'s saying he was murdered?

DARRYL MORRIS: Unless we tell him otherwise. It was listed in the C.O.D. As a
strangulation. The problem is, the man died in the middle of a crowd of people,
and nobody saw anyone lay a hand on him.

(Eric Lohman walks into the bullpen.)

ERIC LOHMAN: Inspector Trudeau.

(Andy sees who it is and grimaces.)

ANDY: Oh ...

(Lohman sees Andy and heads over to him.)

ERIC LOHMAN: Eric Lohman, Bay Weekly.

DARRYL MORRIS: He's all yours.

(Darryl picks up his cup of coffee and walks away leaving Andy with Lohman.)

ANDY: I know who you are. What do you want?

ERIC LOHMAN Uh ... a cup of coffee would be great.

(Lohman sits down at Darryl's desk. Andy makes no move to get that cup of
coffee.)

ERIC LOHMAN: Um ... okay. What do you say I pick your brain about Prue
Halliwell? Name ring a bell? (Andy glances at Lohman.) It should. Her name
keeps popping up in a lot of your murder cases. A lot of the unsolved ones.

ANDY: Is that a fact?

ERIC LOHMAN: Yeah, I got my sources. Cops love to talk, especially if you pay
them enough.

ANDY: Get the hell out of here.

(Andy gets to his feet and takes off his jacket.)

ERIC LOHMAN: So I assume you know all about Prue's unusual powers, right?

(Andy stops. Noticeably.)

ERIC LOHMAN: Boy, that stopped you cold.

ANDY: I don't know what you're talking about.

(Andy turns around.)

ERIC LOHMAN: Yeah, right. That's what she said, too. You two rehearse your
stories, or what?

(Lohman stands up.)

ERIC LOHMAN: I saw her in action in the park, Trudeau. She waved her hands and
magically suspended the David Hatcher kid and his kidnapper in midair. It was
... it was very cool.

(Lohman reaches into his coat pocket and takes out a microcassette recorder.)

ERIC LOHMAN: I just wish I had my camera. (He presses record and holds it out
in front of Andy.) Uh ... care to comment?

(Andy leans forward.)

ANDY: (clearly) No.

(Lohman shuts the recorder off.)

ERIC LOHMAN: Okay. I'll just change my story to a police cover-up instead.

ANDY: I'm not covering up anything.

ERIC LOHMAN: Really? Great. I guess you got nothing to worry about. Just
remember, I gave you a chance to work with me.

(Lohman turns and leaves. He passes Darryl on his way out.)

ERIC LOHMAN: That's right.

(Darryl heads back toward Andy who is putting his jacket back on.)

DARRYL MORRIS: What was that about?

ANDY: Nothing. You're gonna have to handle the M.E. case on your own.

DARRYL MORRIS: Why? Where are you going?

ANDY: I'm assigning myself to the kidnappings.

(Andy pushes past Darryl and heads out the door.)

CUT TO:

[EXT. UNIVERSITY CAMPUS - NIGHT]

[INT. UNIVERSITY CAMPUS - JOSH'S OFFICE -- NIGHT]

(Josh unrolls a map on the table.)

JOSH: Why exactly do you need this?

PIPER: Uh, uh, a client at quake is, uh, thinking of throwing an underground
rave, and we might cater it.

JOSH: A party in a storm drain?

PIPER: Mm-hmm. Uh, yeah, he, uh ... he runs a roto-rooter-type company. It's
kind of a theme thing.

JOSH: Yeah, well, it sounds dank.

PIPER: (nods) Mm-hmm.

JOSH: Yeah. Look, anyway, uh, as long as you're here, can we -- can we, uh,
talk?

(Piper tries to grab the map, but Josh stops her.)

PIPER: Uh, maybe later. I have to go --

JOSH: No, Piper. It cannot wait.

PIPER: Somebody's a little anxious, huh?

JOSH: Ha ha. This is important. It could affect the rest of my life.

PIPER: (hesitant) Well ... not if we take precautions.

JOSH: (confused) What?

PIPER: (rambling) I'm not saying I'm ready for that, because, in fact, I-I'm
not ready for that. But when I am ready for that, I'm just saying, I will be
taking precautions.

(Josh sits on his desk.)

JOSH: Piper ... what are you talking about?

PIPER: Uh ... having ... sex.

(Josh silently mouths the word, "sex".)

(She looks at him. He looks to the side and shakes his head. She scrunches her
eyes at him.)

PIPER: You're not talking about that, are you? (Josh shakes his head, no.)
What are you talking about?

JOSH: My leaving.

PIPER: Leaving?!

JOSH: Yeah, I got offered a job down in Beverly Hills. I mean, it's not
exactly my dream job, but, uh ... you know, it's a good opportunity. Look, my
point is ... if I thought we had a future ...

PIPER: Josh, this is all just happening a little too fast.

JOSH: Yeah, I know -- I know, and I'm sorry, but like it or not, you are the
swing vote. Now, if you don't want me to go, I won't.

(Piper and Josh stare at each other. Piper takes a breath and freezes Josh.)

(She steps away from him and starts talking to herself.)

PIPER: Ok, we need to talk about this. Um, if I ask you to stay, then we're a
couple, and I'm not sure if I'm ready to be a couple. But if I tell you to
leave, and we could have been a good couple, then -- then I'll never know if we
... I need more time. I need lots and lots of time.

(Piper digs into her pocket and takes out her cell phone. She starts dialing.)

(She turns around; Josh unfreezes. His phone rings.)

JOSH: Uh, hold that thought, okay?

(Josh gets up to answer the phone. Once his back is turned to Piper, she puts
her phone down, grabs the storm drain map and leaves.)

(Josh picks up the phone.)

JOSH: (to phone) Yeah, hello?

(He looks at the phone and hangs up. Piper has left the office, the door
swinging back.)

CUT TO:

[EXT. MILLER'S APARTMENT BUILDING - NIGHT]

BRENT MILLER: (v.o.) I remember their faces.

[INT. BRENT MILLER'S APARTMENT -- NIGHT]

(Brent Miller and Phoebe are sitting on his couch. They talk.)

BRENT MILLER: It's like a nightmare that never ends. They--they took me into
this, uh ... big area and-and there were a lot of pipes. I'm sorry, but that's
-- that's really all I remember.

(Phoebe closes her eyes and sighs slightly.)

PHOEBE: That's okay, Brent.

BRENT MILLER: You're disappointed.

PHOEBE: No, no, not at all.

BRENT MILLER: Now, someone who could see your face might believe you, but your-
-your voice tells another story.

(Phoebe chuckles.)

PHOEBE: Gave me away, huh?

BRENT MILLER: (He laughs.) Ahh. You have a beautiful smile, Phoebe.

PHOEBE: How can you tell?

BRENT MILLER: I can hear it in your voice. I--I can see it in my mind.

(Phoebe reaches out a comforting hand and places her hand over Brent's. She
gasps as she's immediately hit with a premonition.)

(Quick flash of: [STORM DRAIN - PAST] A little boy makes his way through the
storm drains, his hands on the wall as he feels his way around. He walks past a
sign: SF PUC N 12. End of premonition. Resume to present.)

BRENT MILLER: What's the matter? Are you ok?

PHOEBE: I'm fine. Um ... Brent, when they took you, were you wearing a, uh,
sweatshirt with jeans, and - and black high tops?

BRENT MILLER: Yeah, I--I think I was. How did you --

PHOEBE: ... and when you escaped, were you running through water?

BRENT MILLER: Yes, I remember that. In -- in the tunnel.

PHOEBE: Ok, Brent, I need you to think really hard. Do you remember anything?
Anything at all about that location? Did you ... hear anything or--or feel
anything?

BRENT MILLER: Ah--ah, all I remember is this, uh ... sound of this - this
enormous generator and, uh ... maybe some cable cars.

PHOEBE: Cable cars?

BRENT MILLER: Yeah.

PHOEBE: Hey, do you have a map? Oh, oh! That, um, that was so stupid.

BRENT MILLER: No, no, I actually do have a map of that area. It-it's over
here. Um ...

(Brent stands up and leads Phoebe over to his desk.)

BRENT MILLER: What--what are we looking for exactly?

PHOEBE: Uh, I don't know. Cable car turnaround maybe ... or the generator that
you heard could have been a power plant.

(Be opens a drawer and takes out an unmarked, white book.)

BRENT MILLER: Right. Okay. Here.

(He opens the book and uses both hands to search for the items on the map.)

BRENT MILLER: No. See, on this map ... ok, there -- there are two turnarounds
on this page and, uh ... there's ... right, here it is. There's a -- there's a
power plant right here on Varick.

(Phoebe looks at Brent.)

PHOEBE: How can you tell?

BRENT MILLER: Give me your hand.

(He takes her hand and she lightly rubs her fingertips on the paper.)

BRENT MILLER: Ok, you feel these ... three horizontal bumps, followed by the
two vertical? Oh, in this -- in this map, that's ... the symbol for power
plant.

PHOEBE: I better go.

BRENT MILLER: Phoebe? How did you know what I was wearing and where I was
running? Are you, like, some kind of psychic or something?

PHOEBE: Like. Only different.

BRENT MILLER: Right. That's how you've seen all these other monsters that
you've mentioned, isn't it? (She smiles at him.) Phoebe, you're a good person.
And that probably means you have a ... a strong aura. Please ... be careful
with these monsters.

(She takes both his hands in hers.)

PHOEBE: Don't worry. I will.

(Phoebe leaves.)

CUT TO:

[INT. STORM DRAIN -- NIGHT]

(David Hatcher is on his hands and knees as he feels around the small cage.
Billy lies on the cold floor crying. David crawls over to him.)

DAVID HATCHER: Don't worry, Billy. My mom's got a friend who's got
supernatural powers. She'll get us out of here.

(A Grimlock runs up to the cage and peers inside.)

GRIMLOCK: Shut up!

(The grimlock runs off. David slowly lies down next to Billy.)

FADE OUT.

(COMMERCIAL SET)

FADE IN.

[EXT. BUCKLAND AUCTION HOUSE -- DAY]

[INT. BUCKLAND AUCTION HOUSE - PRUE'S OFFICE -- DAY]

(Prue is on the phone with Piper.)

PRUE: (to phone) Ok. Did you hear on the radio about that philanthropist who
got mysteriously strangled?

INTERCUT WITH:

[INT. CAR - DAY]

(Piper is in her car.)

PIPER: (to phone) It's gotta be the grimlocks. That's how they kill. (from
phone) We're running out of time. We have, like, less than three hours. Did
you get the schisandra root?

PRUE: (to phone) No, but I'm leaving now to pick it. Uh, look, did Phoebe get
anything out of Brent Miller that might help us?

PIPER: (from phone) I'm not sure ...

ANDY TRUDEAU: (o.s.) Who's Brent Miller?

(Prue looks up and finds Andy leaning against the door frame.)

PIPER: (from phone) Prue?

PRUE: I gotta go. (Prue hangs up.) Andy, hi ... What're you doing here?

(Andy walks into the office.)

ANDY: Working on the kidnappings. Thought we should talk.

(Prue grabs some books on her desk and heads for the bookshelf.)

PRUE: Yeah, well, uh ... I already told the police everything I know about
that.

ANDY: Not according to Eric Lohman, you didn't. He stopped by the station. We
had an interesting chat.

PRUE: Yeah, well, he's a reporter, trying to make a name for himself. You
can't believe anything he says.

ANDY: Normally, I don't. This time, I do. (They stare at each other.) We've
been down this road too many times, Prue. I know you're hiding something. I
have my suspicions about what it is, but I've had to accept the fact that ...
you can't tell me ... or you don't want to tell me. Either way, it's not just
me anymore. Lohman's onto you, or at least he thinks he is. And he's not gonna
let go. Prue, if you don't level with me, I can't help you control this.

PRUE: Andy, I'm just never ... sure if it's better for you to know or not to
know.

ANDY: (regretfully) I remember a time when we could tell each other anything.
There's nothing Lohman won't do to get this story. Watch your back.

(Andy turns and heads for the door.)

PRUE: Andy? (He stops and looks at Prue.) Thanks.

(He smiles and nods. He turns and leaves the office.)

CUT TO:

[EXT. STORM DRAIN ENTRACE BY POWER STATION -- DAY]

(Phoebe looks at the map of the area, the one Piper got from Josh. She finds
the storm drain entrance and moves the boards leaning against the door. She
opens the door to check it out.)

PHOEBE: Bingo.

(Satisfied that it's the right place, she closes the door and runs back up the
road.)

CUT TO:

[EXT. HALLIWELL RESIDENCE - FRONT -- DAY]

(Piper drives up and parks at the curb in front of their house. She grabs her
bag and gets out of the car. She heads up the front stairs to the house, looks
up and sees Prue.)

PIPER: Did you get it?

(Prue holds up the package.)

PRUE: Yeah, I got it.

PIPER: What's wrong?

ANDY: Andy stopped by my office after Lohman stopped by his. I think he told
Andy about my powers.

PIPER: Uh-oh. What did you do?

PRUE: Same as I always do, I danced around the truth. It just doesn't feel
right anymore.

(Piper sighs. In the background, we hear a vehicle approaching. Piper looks up
and sees a baby carriage roll down the next door neighbor's driveway and into
the path of the oncoming truck.)

(She gasps and freezes everything.)

PIPER: Oh, my god!

(Prue turns around.)

PRUE: What?

PIPER: Aah!

(Prue and Piper both run to check on the baby carriage.)

PRUE: Where is the mother?

(Piper moves the blanket and finds nothing inside the stroller.)

PIPER: Oh, thank god.

(Prue looks up suspiciously.)

PRUE: Wait a second. Since when did the Johnsons get a baby?

(She looks at the neighbor's drive and sees Eric Lohman with a digital video
camera standing on a trash can and peering over the concrete fence.)

PRUE: That damn reporter! Look.

PIPER: Ok, uh ... confused.

PRUE: All right. That's Lohman. This is a setup. We need to get back to where
we were before everything unfreezes. Go!

(Prue and Piper rush back to their original spots on the front walk.)

PRUE: Don't forget to put your hands up. Uh-huh. Okay.

(Piper puts her hands up just as everything unfreezes. The truck narrowly
misses the baby stroller, its horn blaring. The stroller hits the opposite curb
and overturns.)

PRUE: (mutters to Piper) Don't look. Just go inside. Inside. Go, go, go!

(Piper turns and heads into the house. Prue follows.)

(After they go inside, Eric Lohman looks back at the overturned stroller.
Somewhat puzzled, he checks his tape.)

ERIC LOHMAN: Let's see.

(On the playback, he sees Prue and Piper. The camera moves down to where he
kicks the stroller down the driveway, then moves back to Prue and Piper. He
sees it immediately.)

(He rewinds to double check.)

ERIC LOHMAN: Purse on right shoulder. Purse on left shoulder.

(He rewinds the tape again.)

ERIC LOHMAN: Purse on right shoulder. Purse on left shoulder. Well, what do
you know? She has another power. Gotcha!

(Eric Lohman grins gleefully.)

DISSOLVE TO:

[EXT. HALLIWELL MANOR - FRONT - DAY - SHORT TIME LATER]

(Having just returned, Phoebe runs up the front steps to the house.)

(Eric Lohman sits in his car and watches. We see Prue watching him from the
window.)

[INT. MANOR - LIVING ROOM - DAY -- CONTINUOUS]

(Piper walks into the room.)

PIPER: Is he still out there?

(Prue releases the curtain and moves away from the window.)

PRUE: Unfortunately.

(Phoebe walks up to them.)

PHOEBE: Hey, you guys. I think I found the entrance to the storm drain. (She
sees the looks on their faces.) What's going on?

PRUE: Didn't you see that guy parked out front in his car?

PHOEBE: Yes.

PRUE: Yeah, well, that's the reporter that I told you about. He's staking us
out.

PHOEBE: What?!

PIPER: He tricked us into using our powers and he nearly caught us.

PRUE: But, fortunately, we figured out what he was doing before he could get
any proof.

PHOEBE: Oh, thank god.

PIPER: The only problem is how are we going to be out looking for David when
he's camped outside. We have less than two hours.

(The doorbell rings.)

(Prue answers the door. Eric Lohman steps into the foyer.)

ERIC LOHMAN: Hey, how's it going? Mind if I use your bathroom?

(Prue moves to slam the door in his face. He stops her.)

ERIC LOHMAN: Whoa! Don't bother using your magical powers on me. I already hid
the videotape.

PRUE: What videotape?

ERIC LOHMAN: Yeah. You know, best I can guess is somehow one of you stopped
time. Or rewound it, I don't know. But what I do know is -- I got the whole
thing on tape.

PRUE: You're bluffing.

ERIC LOHMAN: Am I? How do you explain your sister's purse magically jumping
from her right shoulder to her left shoulder instantaneously? (He motions
playfully with his hands.) Huh? You screwed up. And I got the proof. Okay,
now here's the deal: I already got my story ready to print. What I really want
now from you is a tell-all exclusive, all right? I'll write the book. We can
share the movie rights, foreign sales, distribution -- it's gonna be--it'll be a
good thing.

(Prue opens the door and pushes Lohman out.)

ERIC LOHMAN: (o.s.) All right, I'll just wait out front until you're ready to
talk.

PHOEBE: What are we gonna do?

PRUE: All right, look ... I will stay here and finish the potions. You guys go
and try and find the boys. Buy us some time. Just keep on freezing those
Grimlocks, okay, until I get there?

PIPER: What about Lohman?

PRUE: Don't worry about him. I'll stop him from following you.

(Determined, Prue walks past Phoebe and Piper toward the kitchen. They turn and
follow her.)

CUT TO:

[EXT. MANOR - FRONT WALK - DAY]

(Eric Lohman sits draped on the front steps. The front door opens and Prue
steps outside. Lohman jumps to his feet.)

PRUE: Lohman? I've been thinking about what you said and, uh ... maybe we can
word something out.

ERIC LOHMAN: (smiles) Yeah? Why don't I believe you?

(In the background, Piper and Phoebe walk down the driveway. Phoebe waves to
Prue.)

PRUE: Oh, I don't know. Maybe it's just your reporter instincts.

(The car doors slam shut and the engine starts. Lohman turns and sees the SUV
zoom away.)

PRUE: Whoops, busted.

ERIC LOHMAN: Nice try.

(Lohman turns to go to his car.)

(Prue waves her hand and the garden tool on the concrete fence flies over and
punctures his front tire. He stops.)

(Prue chuckles.)

ERIC LOHMAN: You did that! Didn't you? I--I know you did that!

PRUE: Really? Prove it.

(He looks from Prue to his car and back to Prue again.)

CUT TO:

[EXT. STORM DRAIN ENTRANCE -- DAY]

(Piper's SUV is parked just outside the Storm Drain entrance. The door is
open.)

[INT. STORM DRAIN - DAY]

(Piper climbs down the ladder into the storm drain. She takes a step right into
a small puddle.)

PIPER: Ugh. Eew! I'm not wearing the right shoes for this.

(Phoebe climbs down the ladder. The take a couple of steps and look around.)

PIPER: Ok. Talk about all roads leading to hell. Which way?

(Phoebe takes out the map and looks at it.)

PHOEBE: Uh ... light, light.

PIPER: All right.

(Piper shines the flashlight on the map so they can see.)

PHOEBE: Brent said he remembered a big area with pipes.

PIPER: Uh-huh.

PHOEBE: Oh, wait. There's a pipe juncture ... that way.

(She looks up and points. They head off into that direction.)

[AROUND THE CORNER - CONTINUOUS]

(Phoebe folds up the map.)

PHOEBE: So I guess this isn't a good time to ask how it went with Josh and "the
talk"?

PIPER: You're right, it's not.

PHOEBE: Ok.

(They continue on their way.)

CUT TO:

[EXT. BRENT'S BUILDING (STOCK) -- DAY]

[INT. BRENT MILLER'S RESIDENCE - LIVING ROOM - DAY]

(Andy leans against the balcony door looking out at the view. Brent Miller
steps into the living room.)

BRENT MILLER: Inspector Trudeau?

(Andy turns around and shakes his hand.)

ANDY: Yes, Mr. Miller?

BRENT MILLER: My housekeeper said you wanted to talk to me. Is it about the
kidnappings?

ANDY: Maybe. Has a, uh, Prue Halliwell come to talk to you, by any chance?

BRENT MILLER: No. But I have spoken to a Phoebe Halliwell.

ANDY: Really ...

BRENT MILLER: I think I know where she went, if that'll help you.

FADE OUT.

(COMMERCIAL SET)

FADE IN.

[INT. STORM DRAIN -- DAY]

(Piper and Phoebe turn the corner.)

PIPER: Whew! Who knew anything could smell so bad.

(Phoebe finds the sign:
     SF PUC
     N 12

(It's the same sign in her premonition.)

PHOEBE: Now there's a good sign.

PIPER: Meaning?

PHOEBE: I saw it in a vision that I had of Brent.

PIPER: Oh. Ahh!

(Piper hears a rat squeaking. She looks up and sees the rat.)

PIPER: Eew! Ohh! Eyew! Eyew! Aah!

(Piper steps back and falls into a hole in the ground.)

PHOEBE: Piper!

(Piper lands hard on the grating at the bottom of the hole. The sound echoes in
the storm drain.)

(Cut to: The two Grimlocks look up from their meal.)

PHOEBE: (o.s.) Piper! Piper!

(David Hatcher slowly sits up.)

(Cut back to: Phoebe picks up the flashlight and uses it to look down into the
hole.)

PHOEBE: Oh, Piper! Are you ok?

(Piper doesn't answer. She's knocked unconscious on the bottom of the hole.)

(From behind, footsteps approach.)

PHOEBE: Oh, my god! Oh, god!

(Phoebe grabs a board on the side and uses it to cover the hole.)

PHOEBE: Piper, I'll get help!

(Phoebe runs back the way they came.)

CUT TO:

[INT. MANOR - KITCHEN -- DAY]

(Prue is mixing up the potion.)

PRUE: I feel like I should be cackling.

(Finished, she picks up a jar to pour the mixture into. The phone rings.)

(She puts the pot down.)

PRUE: Oh ...

(She answers the phone.)

PRUE: (to phone) Hello.

INTERCUT WITH:

[EXT. STORM DRAIN ENTRANCE - DAY]

(Phoebe's on the cell phone.)

PHOEBE: Prue, uh, Piper's hurt and I can't get to her.

PRUE: Ah, ok, where are you?

PHOEBE: At the end of Varick Street. Hurry, ok? And don't forget the potion.

PRUE: I'm on my way.

(Prue hangs up and heads for the door. She turns around and grabs two bottles
of the potion. She walks out of the kitchen.)

CUT TO:

[EXT. MANOR - FRONT DRIVE - DAY - CONTINUOUS]

(Prue walks out of the house carrying the two bottles. She finds that her car
hood is up obviously tampered with. Eric Lohman steps out from behind the car.
His video camera is on Prue.)

ERIC LOHMAN: Didn't want you to leave me behind, like your sisters did.

PRUE: Fix it now.

ERIC LOHMAN: Or what? You gonna hurt me? Go ahead ... just let me get you in
focus. Okay.

PRUE: Look, I don't have time for this, all right? Piper's hurt and two boys'
lives are at stake.

ERIC LOHMAN: Do you know where they are?

PRUE: Yes.

(Lohman doesn't care about the boys. He just wants his story. He keeps the
video camera on Prue.)

PRUE: All right, you win.

ERIC LOHMAN: I win? What's my prize?

PRUE: I'm a witch with magical powers.

ERIC LOHMAN: A witch? A witch?! Ha ha ha. This is great. Great. Terrific.
Let's go.

(He shuts the camera and pulls out the plugs he removed from Prue's car.)

CUT TO:

[EXT. STORM DRAIN ENTRANCE - DAY - LATER]

(Prue and Eric Lohman drive up and exit the car. Phoebe is waiting next to the
car.)

PHOEBE: What is he doing here?

ERIC LOHMAN: Making my career.

PRUE: I had no choice. Where's Piper?

PHOEBE: She's in through this way, come on.

PRUE: You just stay here, all right? It's too dangerous.

ERIC LOHMAN: Oh, no, no. I'm coming with you.

PRUE: No! Look, there are too many lives at stake here, including my sister's.
I will not have you risking them. Stay where you are. You'll get your story.

(Prue and Phoebe enter the storm drain.)

ERIC LOHMAN: All right, I'll just wait out here.

(He backs up and waits all of a breath of a moment. He heads for the entrance
and slips into the storm drain after them.)

CUT TO:

[EXT. STORM DRAIN - HALLWAY -- DAY]

(A Grimlock walks down the hall. He hears Piper muttering.)

PIPER: Phoebe? Is that you?

(The Grimlock steps forward and removes the board covering the hole. Inside he
sees Piper. From his point of view, we see a golden glow surrounding Piper.)

PIPER: Phoebe?

(The Grimlock holds out his hand and starts sucking the aura out of Piper. She
starts gasping for breath.)

(Phoebe and Prue turn the corner.)

PHOEBE: Prue!

(Prue steps forward and waves her hand. A pipe leaning against the wall flies
and hits the Grimlock across the face. The Grimlock is thrown to the end of the
hallway. He scrambles to his feet and walks away.)

PHOEBE: Nice ...

(They look down into the hole and see Piper, awake and gasping for breath.)

CUT TO:

[EXT. STORM DRAIN ENTRANCE -- DAY]

(Andy drives up. He parks his car alongside the others. He exits his vehicle
and slips into the storm drain, his gun raised.)

CUT TO:

[INT. STORM DRAIN - DAY - CONTINUOUS]

(From the Video View: Eric Lohman has the video trained on him. He fixes his
hair.)

ERIC LOHMAN: This is Eric Lohman reporting live.

(He starts walking through the hallway, his eyes on the camera.

ERIC LOHMAN: I'm in a storm drain underground, following three sisters, all of
them witches as they look for children who may have been abducted ... by a
strange kind of--aah!

(Through the camera, he finds a Grimlock staring straight at him. The Grimlock
growls. The camera blacks out as Lohman screams.)

CUT TO:

[INT. STORM DRAIN - DAY -- CONTINUOUS]

(Prue uses her powers to raise the grate and Piper at the bottom of the hole.
She puts the grate down on the floor.)

PRUE: Ok, come on.

(She reaches and helps Piper up.)

PRUE: We gotta get you out of here.

PIPER: No! No.

PRUE: Look, Piper, just up to the street, okay? Phoebe and I will come right
back for the boys.

(Phoebe and Prue help Piper out the way they came.)

PHOEBE: Come on, lean on my, honey.

CUT TO:

[INT. STORM DRAIN -- DAY]

(Andy slowly makes his way through the storm drain. He has his gun and
flashlight up and out. He slows as he finds Eric Lohman dead on the side of the
hallway. He checks for a pulse.)

(Just then, a Grimlock turns the corner.)

(Andy turns around and gets to his feet.)

ANDY: (softly) Don't move!

(The Grimlock advances on Andy. Andy kneels and fires several times point blank
at the Grimlock. The Grimlock grabs Andy and pushes him up against the wall.)

(Prue steps forward.)

PRUE: Andy!

(She raises her hand and sends the Grimlock flying away from Andy. The Grimlock
hits the far wall hard. Andy quickly turns and finds Prue standing there.)

(The Grimlock runs.)

PRUE: You ok?

ANDY: Yeah, thanks. (He gets to his feet.) So what Lohman saw you do was
true.

(Phoebe and Piper turn the corner.)

PIPER: Andy.

PHOEBE: What are you doing here?

ANDY: Confirming my suspicions.

PRUE: He knows. A Grimlock tried to kill him.

ANDY: What the hell's a Grimlock?

PRUE: It's a demon.

ANDY: A demon?

PRUE: Yeah. Uh, look, Andy, I need you to get Piper up on the street, okay?

PIPER: No, Prue, I want to stay. I need to help.

PRUE: No, you are far too weak to use your powers.

ANDY: Her, too?

PRUE: Look, Andy, will you please just get her out of here?

ANDY: Prue, I'm not leaving the two of you alone.

PRUE: Do I have to use my power on you?

ANDY: I'll meet you up on the street.

(Andy steps forward and Piper leans on him.)

PRUE: (to Piper) You'll be okay.

(Piper and Andy head out of the storm drain.)

(After they pass, Prue sees Lohman's camera on the floor next to him. She takes
the tape and pockets it.)

(Prue and Phoebe head back into the storm drain.)

CUT TO:

[EXT. DEEPER INTO THE STORM DRAIN - DAY -- CONTINUOUS]

(Prue and Phoebe turn the corner. Prue is looking at the map as Phoebe holds
the flashlight for her to read by.)

PRUE: Ok, we should be coming up on a feeder drain right about now.

(They stop. Phoebe looks up just as a Grimlock steps out into their path. He
growls at them. Phoebe screams in panic.)

(Prue uncaps the potion's jar. Phoebe tosses the liquid onto the Grimlock. He
melts as he is vanquished.)

PRUE: Oh, great. Just what we need. More toxic waste in our sewers. (Prue
caps the empty bottle.) That worked well.

(The two continue into the storm drain.)

PHOEBE: Yeah.

(Cut to: David is lying on the ground.)

(Prue and Phoebe turn the corner.)

PRUE: (calls out) David?

(Phoebe points in a direction. Prue nods. They split up to look for the kids.)

(Phoebe rounds a corner and calls out.)

PHOEBE: David!

DAVID HATCHER: (softly) Please help me.

(She finds the cage and sees David inside. His eyes are open and she sees that
he has no pupils, they're completely white.)

PHOEBE: David? Oh, god! (louder) Prue! I found them!

(Prue turns around where she is and finds herself face to face with a Grimlock.)

(His hands are raised and he's sucking the aura out of her. She gasps and drops
the jar of potion. It shatters on the ground.)

(She puts a hand to her neck as she gasps for breath. We get a brief glimpse of
Prue's golden aura.)

(Phoebe hears the glass shatter and calls out.)

PHOEBE: Prue!

(The Grimlock steps forward closer to Prue. She falls to her knees as she gasps
for breath.)

(Phoebe hears her and rushes to find her.)

(Prue is on the floor on her knees.)

(Phoebe rushes up to the Grimlock and with both hands on her flashlight, she
smashes it into his head.)

(It barely stuns him. He turns and sees Phoebe cast in a golden glow. He holds
out his hand and starts sucking the aura out of her.)

(Phoebe clutches her neck and starts to gasp.)

(Prue lifts her head and sees Phoebe. She raises her hand and the potion on the
floor magically scooped up and splashed onto the Grimlock.)

(The Grimlock screeches as he dissolves in front of their eyes. The Grimlock
vanishes.)

(Prue gets to her feet.)

PRUE: You ok?

PHOEBE: Are you ok?

PRUE: Yeah. Where's David?

PHOEBE: Over there.

(Phoebe leads Prue to the cage. David wakes up and sits up. His eyes return to
normal.)

DAVID HATCHER: I can see! (Phoebe and Prue smile.) I can see you! I knew you
had magic powers.

PRUE: Oh.

(Prue and Phoebe glance at each other.)

PRUE: (to David) Get your friend and d let's get out of here.

CUT TO:

[EXT. POLICE STATION (STOCK) - DAY]

[INT. POLICE STATION - BULLPEN -- DAY]

(Andy sits at his desk, his hands clasped together, his chin resting on his
hands. Darryl walks into the bullpen and sees him. He clears his throat.)

(Andy stirs and starts going through the file on his desk.)

DARRYL MORRIS: Exactly how did you know the kids were down there again?

ANDY: Anonymous tip.

DARRYL MORRIS: What about the kidnappers?

ANDY: Kidnappers? There weren't any kidnappers. The kids followed a kitten
into the storm drain. Got lost.

DARRYL MORRIS: Really? How do you explain finding Lohman down there? With a
broken neck?

ANDY: Must have slipped when he went down there after them. You know, anything
for a story. It's too bad.

DARRYL MORRIS: Yeah, it's a real shame. You don't really expect me to believe
all this, do you?

ANDY: For now.

(Darryl and Andy share a look. Darryl nods some. Andy smiles back. Darryl
leaves.)

[INT POLICE STATION - BULLPEN - ENTRANCE - DAY - CONTINUOUS]

(Phoebe walks into the bullpen. In the hallway outside, she passes by the two
boys sitting with their parents. She walks over to Piper and Prue who both lean
against a desk looking glum.)

PHOEBE: Ohh. Have they said anything?

PRUE: No, they just got back from the hospital. But who knows what they'll say
once the police start questioning them.

PHOEBE: So much for our secret.

(Prue says nothing. Phoebe turns and sees Piper being extremely quiet and
thoughtful.

PHOEBE: Hey, you ok?

PIPER: Yeah, um ... I was just thinking, when I was in the storm drain, I was
kind of out of it. I kept thinking about Leo. That's weird.

PHOEBE: Maybe you miss him.

PIPER: Maybe.

PRUE: What are you going to do about Josh?

PIPER: Uh ... I'm going to call him and tell him I think he should take the job
in Beverly Hills.

PHOEBE: But, sweetie, you can't hold out for Leo. I mean, who knows if he is
ever going to come back.

PIPER: I know. He may not, but if I'm thinking about Leo, then I'm definitely
not thinking about Josh.

(Piper stands up and leaves.)

PHOEBE: (calls out) That's too bad. He had really nice glutes.

(Phoebe turns and looks at the entrance. She sees Brent Miller walk into the
bullpen.)

PHOEBE: Hey, there's Brent. (louder) Hey, Brent!

(Prue stands up and leaves. Brent turns when he hears his name. Phoebe motions
for him to join her, then realizes that she has to say something.)

PHOEBE: Uh, over here.

(Brent Miller turns and joins Phoebe.)

PHOEBE: Hi.

BRENT MILLER: Hi.

PHOEBE: Where's your dog?

(Brent removes his glasses. His eyes are nice and normal.)

BRENT MILLER: He's, uh ... retired.

PHOEBE: You can see? (He nods.) Well, how did that ...

BRENT MILLER: I--I don't know. I mean, you tell me. I mean, someone must have
slayed those monsters. You know anything about it?

PHOEBE: Oh, I, uh ...

(Phoebe motions as if turning a key in front of her mouth. He chuckles.)

BRENT MILLER: That's all right. I mean ... if anyone understands the danger of
telling amazing stories, I sure do. (Phoebe smiles.) I was right, you do have
a beautiful smile.

(Brent turns toward the two boys in the hallway.)

BRENT MILLER: Uh .. those the boys?

PHOEBE: Yeah.

BRENT MILLER: Maybe I should have a little talk with them.

PHOEBE: That would be so great. Thank you.

BRENT MILLER: No ... thank you.

(He turns and heads for the hallway.)

(Cut to: Andy sees Prue. He puts the file folder in his desk drawer and stands
to join her.)

PRUE: So ... now you know.

ANDY: Yeah. Although it's, uh, still sinking in.

PRUE: Where do we go from here?

ANDY: (chuckles ruefully) That's a good question.

(Just then, a swarm of reporters walk into the bullpen. They start vying for
Andy's attention.)

REPORTER: Inspector Trudeau! Inspector Trudeau!

(They share a quiet look. Prue discretely turns away as the reporters converge
on Andy.)

REPORTER: What's your official position?
REPORTER: What really happened to the two boys?
REPORTER: Are you ready to comment?
REPORTER: Is it true that...
REPORTER: Inspector! Inspector!

(Andy turns away from Prue and toward the reporters.)

FADE TO BLACK.
