LYNNE KRESEGE: This is Jenny's statement to the press about the CTU bombing.

PRESIDENT PALMER: Any casualties?

ERIC RAYBURN: Over a dozen so far.

KRESEGE: Those people are dead because of you.

PALMER: You're out Eric. Effective immediately.

RAYBURN: You can't dismiss me now sir.

PALMER: I need someone I can trust.

KATE WARNER: Reza may be involved with the terrorists. He's been in contact with someone who finances terrorist operations.

BOB WARNER: Trust me, he is not a terrorist. I want you to drop this nonsense and treat Reza like a member of this family! Okay?

GEORGE MASON: How bad is she?

DOCTOR: No, she needs surgery. Can't do that in the field.

MASON: She stays here!

TONY ALMEIDA: George, we can't keep her here.

MASON: Everything we have on this nuke is destroyed, the only intel we have is the database Paula sent to the NSA. And they didn't get the code.

TONY: Well we'll assign other IT people to retrieve it!

MASON: We don't have time!

KIM BAUER: I want to go with her.

DOCTOR: I have some questions first.

KIM: We got out in time. She wasn't injured in the explosion.

DOCTOR: Yes, I know. From what I've seen, her head injury most likely occurred before the blast.

KIM: You don't think I did this.

DOCTOR: I'm gonna let the police sort that out.

JOE WALD: Eddy told me everything went out without a hitch, what happened between then and now?

JACK BAUER: I killed them. They're resisting arrest. I'll kill you too Joe. Whoever that set you up to do this job Joe- they used you.

JOE: The woman who gave me the plans to CTU? I only met her twice. I can't go back to jail.

[Joe shoots himself.]

JACK: No!

ENGINEER: None of these girders are stable. We can't guarantee that they're gonna hold.

MASON: How ‘bout here?

ENGINEER: And nothing behind this quartered area is safe. I don't want to see anyone in there. Or I'll shut the building down. I don't care what the governor says.

MICHELLE DESSLER: No don't even try that thing. Switches were totally destroyed. See if you can set up a generator line to the A island.

MAN: Alright I'm on it.

DOCTOR: We gotta get her outta here.

MASON: Progress here?

DOCTOR: Trying to bring her around. Use a combination of stimulants and hydrating fluids. 

But it might make her more unstable.

MASON: We're running out of time, so wake her up.

MASON: Where're you heading?

TONY: Follow up on a lead that just came in. There's an ally connection with Syed Ali.

MASON: Well look, send somebody else. I need you here.

TONY: To do what? Watch Paula die?

MASON: Tony we gotta get the encryption codes outta her, or we gonna loose everything, we can't let that happen today.

TONY: Yeah like I said, you gotta cover. I'm gonna follow up on this lead.

MASON: No! You're going to stay here! And that's an order.

TONY: Look. There's a middle-eastern businessman, in LA, who's had contact with Syed Ali, recently. Now, Ivers and Nepel are dead, who do you want me to send?

MASON: Be reachable. Alright?

MASON: What are you looking at.

MICHELLE: Nothing.

MASON: You putting band-aid on the network?

MICHELLE: Yeah. I'm on it.

WOMAN: Mr. Mason? It's Jack Bauer.

[Woman hands Mason a phone.]

MASON: Jack? What is it?

JACK: George, I got to Wald, I found out who commissioned him to take out CTU.

MASON: Who?

JACK: It was Nina Myers.

MASON: Nina...?

JACK: She was his connection to CTU.

MASON: Doesn't make any sense, she's in prison.

JACK: Wald approached her before we took her down, she sold them everything George. Schematics, gate information, personal data, all of this has to be connected to the nuke.

MASON: So what they bombed CTU to cripple our respond capability?

JACK: Yes, yes. I've already called Chappelle.

MASON: You what?!

JACK: I couldn't find you George.

MASON: What did he say?

JACK: He agreed we need to talk to her. He's having her transferred over to CTU now for questioning.

MASON: Why don't you debrief at Division. It's a total disaster here.

JACK: Well what are you gonna do about Nina?

MASON: I'll take care of it.

JACK: Don't just hand her over to the FBI George.

MASON: Forget it Jack. You did a great job. Okay, go find yourself some place safe.

[Hangs up.]

JACK: George!

MASON: Michelle? Can you get somebody to set up an interrogation room? We got somebody coming in.

MICHELLE: Who?

MASON: Nina Myers.

MICHELLE: CTU agent who killed Jack's wife?

MASON: We need as close to maximum security as I can get. And 3 armed agents standing by.

MAN: We're reduced the likeliness on some of the targets. With 6 probable sectors. There's the harbor. Port of Los Angeles, it's one of the busiest ports in the world, the strike there will knock out infrastructure.

KRESEGE: I'm sorry to interrupt Mr. President, the ambassador's about to land.

PALMER: Has there been any communication while he was en route?

KRESEGE: No, not since this morning when he's decided to come here.

PALMER: Is he alone?

KRESEGE: No, he's being accompanied by Farhad Salim, their ranking intelligence officer.

PALMER: Get me anything new that we've learnt about Second Wave since this morning.

KRESEGE: Yes sir.

PALMER: Oh and Lynne, is Roger here yet?

KRESEGE: He's upstairs. They're bringing him up to speed on Rayburn's dismissal.

PALMER: Good.

[Kim sees police car. Kim walks to Megan's room.]

GARY MATHESON: Everything's gonna be okay. Tell you what, if you leave now, I'll tell the police that it's just a misunderstanding, if you don't- they're gonna arrest you.

KIM: Arrest me for what?

GARY: Kidnapping my daughter.

KIM: Where's Carla?

GARY: As soon these officers the doctor, Kim, it's gonna be pretty obvious that you're the one who hurt her.

KIM: That's a lie and you know it. I would never hurt her, I've been protecting her from you!

GARY: Well the only thing that can be proved, Kim, is that you took Megan without our permission.

KIM: You beat up your wife. Who's gonna believe you…

GARY: Carla will back me up. You know that. I mean, if you don't believe me, you can give her a call. You need that? Go ahead Kim, call her.

[Kim shakes head.]

GARY: You walk away, while you have a chance. Otherwise you're going to jail. Stay away from my family. Don't ever come to my house again.

[Kim walks away, runs- just escapes the officers.]

PALMER: Look I wouldn't rule anything out Mike, if you co-op local enforcements at this time, the story could leak. That's one of my biggest concerns. You know what? Roger's walking in, I'll talk to you when you land.

ROGER STANTON: Mr. President.

PALMER: Roger, it's good to see you. Come into my office.

STANTON: Afternoon everyone.

PEOPLE AT THE TABLE: Mr. Stanton.

STANTON: Be with you shortly.

MAN: Very well sir.

STANTON: I'll tell you how disturbed I was, with Eric's decision regarding CTU.

PALMER: 29 dead, and counting.

STANTON: Inexcusable. We'll full investigation, possible criminal charges.

PALMER: You know I'd hate to meddle into your rice bowl, but on a day like today, I couldn't wait for you to arrive.

STANTON: Say no more.

PALMER: Are you caught up on everything?

STANTON: Caught up. ... I'd like to talk to you about this meeting with the ambassador.

PALMER: Mmm. What are your thoughts?

STANTON: We have everything to loose. Nothing to gain.

PALMER: What we have to gain, is stopping a nuclear bomb.

STANTON: But this meeting only benefits the other side. He wants to be able to say to the world- Look, we tried to stop the bomb. It's a ploy to gain access to our intelligence. There's nothing more.

PALMER: You might be right. But I'm not as certain as you are.

STANTON: Very good sir. Anything else?

PALMER: Not at this time.

MICHELLE: Hold on. Sir! Off duty agents are finally arriving. And Division just called, chopper just lifted off, Nina Myers is on board.

MASON: Oh, Good. Look, set up the mobile video unit for interrogation then alright?

MICHELLE: Okay. Laurie, I need you to call downstairs, get Bill, have him bring in a video rack, okay?

[Jack Bauer enters CTU. Surprised to see it's such a mess.]

MASON: Jack! What de hell are you doing here? I sent you to Division.

JACK: I wanna do the debrief here.

MASON: I'm not gonna mince words words with you, Nina killed your wife. I don't want you anywhere near her.

JACK: George, my goal is the same as yours, to stop this bomb, it makes more sense that I do the debrief here, because there's no information of the Wald op at Division. Please.

MASON: Alright. Let's set you up with Noel at uh.. tech support.

JACK: What about Ivers?

MASON: Dead.

JACK: Clark?

MASON: Dead. Lost a lot of good people Jack.

JACK: I'll get started on the debrief.

MASON: Hey, do us both a favor, finish, and go?

JACK: Yeah.

DOCTOR: She's awake! You better move fast, don't know how much time we have!

MASON: Come on. Paula? It's George Mason. Can you hear me?

PAULA: What happened?

MASON: We had a big explosion; do you remember the encryption codes Paula? You're the only one who has them.

PAULA: U...uuuh...

MASON: Stay with us Paula.

MICHELLE: Paula! You were transferring files out to NSA, do you remember that?

PAULA: Yeah.

MICHELLE: Yeah. Well the transfer didn't complete, they didn't have the source decryption key.

PAULA: Source?

MICHELLE: Yeah, the source key. That's right. See normally you send it in a separate packet, but the router was destroyed, did you make a copy of the source key before you sent it?

PAULA: Yeah.

MASON: What is it? Do you remember?

PAULA: Sub volume.

[Michelle goes to computer.]

MICHELLE: Which.. Which volume?

MASON: Which volume? Which one? Paula, stay with us? Which one?

MICHELLE: Paula, your disk has partitioned in over 50 volumes, do you remember which one?

PAULA: ... ee.. Uhh... Etudes.

MASON: Etudes!

[Michelle checks.]

MASON: Hang in there sweetie.

MICHELLE: Uhh... That's it. That's it.

MASON: Great! Hey... You did good, what you just did is gonna save a lot of lives today, get her to a hospital now! Move!

[Paula closes eyes and smiles.]

MASON: Move!

DOCTOR: Come on, gimme, let's go!

[Doctors wheel Paula away. Paula flat lines.]

DOCTOR: She's in VTEC. Charge, full charge, there you go, you ready?

[Michelle and Mason stares. Mason turns away.]

DOCTOR: Charge, full charge, 360. Clear!

[Thud.]

DOCTOR: Nothing. Charging at 300. Charge. Clear! No rhythm. Flatline. She's gone.

[Michelle and Mason looks on. ]

REZA: I got it.

KATE: You got it? You sure? ... Hey...

BOB: So! How did you like the house?

KATE: You knew bout it?

BOB: Course. Why did you think I insisted you go with him?

KATE: Dad, it's not that I think Reza doesn't love Marie, I just think he'd be doing things that are illegal!

BOB: Well honey, you don't know that.

KATE: Well I know Ralph Burton found the transactions in the company records that link him, to a known terrorist.

BOB: Ralph Burton is a PI. I mean he can probably connect me to the Manson family if you looked hard enough.

KATE: Yup...

BOB: Did they straighten out that business about lunch?

[Car pulls up. Tony (in badass aviator glasses.) and Agent Richards exits car.]

BOB: Who's this?

TONY: Hello sir, I'm Tony Almeida from Los Angeles CTU. This is Agent Richards.

BOB: CTU? What? What is CTU?

TONY: Counter Terrorist Unit. I'm looking for a... Reza Naiyeer?

KATE: What's this all about?

TONY: Uh.. It's government matter m'am.

KATE: Government matter?

TONY: I just need to ask a few questions to Mr. Naiyeer.

BOB: Mr. Almeida right? My daughter hired a private investigator to do a background check on Reza. It's all been cleared out.

KATE: Actually dad, it hasn't all been cleared out.

BOB: Can this wait? You see today is my other daughter Marie's wedding, she's getting married to Reza..

[Tony smirks and takes off glasses.]

TONY: Look I'm sorry for the bad timing, Mr. Warner. But no. This can't wait. I'm authorized to interrogate Mr. Naiyeer. You can take me to him? Or I have to find him myself.

BOB: Kate, go find Reza. What's going on here.

TONY: All I can tell you that I'm part of an investigation involving national security. I was hoping that Mr. Naiyeer could assist me.

REZA: Hey Kate! What's up?

KATE: There's a man here, who needs to talk to you.

REZA: Who is he?

KATE: He's from the government.

REZA: The government?

KATE: Yeah. A counter terrorist agency?

REZA: What are you talking about?

KATE: That's all I know.

REZA: What's this about Kate?

KATE: I don't know.

REZA: Marie's in her room adjusting her dress, you just make sure she doesn't find out about this.

KATE: Sure.

AGENT RICHARDS: Reza Naiyeer?

REZA: Yeah.

RICHARDS: I'm Agent Richards. Right this way.

[Door opens to Marie's room.]

MARIE: Oh! What is that?

MAID: Some lunch for you.

MARIE: Oh! Over there.

MAID: Sure.

[Door closes.]

AMBASSADOR: I want you to know, since your conversation with the prime minister this morning; we have taken 4 suspected members of second wave into custody. And we have begun interrogations.

PALMER: What have you learned?

AMBASSADOR: We are.. still questioning them.

SALIM: As uh.. a ranking security officer, I assure you, we are doing everything possible that can be done on this kind of activity.

STANTON: These satellite photos were taken over your country an hour ago.

[Hands men the photos.]

STANTON: Doesn't look like too much of a clampdown to me.

SALIM We don't have the resources you do. And surely, you can't tell me that you are aware of every single paramilitary compound operating in the U.S.

AMBASSADOR: If this bomb goes off Mr. President, and you don't believe that we did everything possible to stop it, there will be heavy repercussions from my country. You have already made it quite clear that we have no choice but to retaliate against us. We want to help.

PALMER: What do you propose?

AMBASSADOR: A mutual exchange of intelligence.

PALMER: What kind of exchange?

SALIM: We need access to your files on Second Wave.

STANTON: Uh files?

SECURITY MAN: Yes, anything. Anything that pertains suspected terrorism in our country.

PALMER: I'm not sure how much intel is in our interest to share with you at this time.

AMBASSADOR: I understand your reservations Mr. President, but we're assured, we want to help prevent this incident. We are prepared for an exchange in both directions. We are willing to open up our files to you as well.

PALMER: I'll have to think about this Mr. Ambassador.

AMBASSADOR: Of course.

PALMER: We prepared a room for you; you'll have our answer shortly.

AMBASSADOR: Thank you Mr. President.

PALMER: Mr. Ambassador.

AMBASSADOR: Mr. Stanton.

[Men leaves.]

STANTON: You can't give them this information sir.

PALMER: Explain, what's the downside?

STANTON: We have agents in their country, right now. Those files would expose their identities.

PALMER: Fine. Go through the files; pick out anything that could jeopardize our people.

STANTON: It's a dangerous precedent.

PALMER: We can't worry about precedent, not today. Not under the threat of a nuclear attack.

STANTON: I guess my point is, I don't trust the ambassador. And we can't ignore the possibilities that this country is supporting Second Wave.

PALMER: Lynne what do you think.

KRESEGE: I agree with Roger. I think it's too risky.

[Phone rings. Jack picks up.]

KIM: Dad it's me.

JACK: Kim? You alright?

KIM: I'm okay. What about you? Were you at CTU when the bomb went off?

JACK: Look honey I'm fine, are you on your way to Aunt Carol's?

KIM: No I haven't left yet, what is going on?! You sounded weird on the phone.

JACK: It doesn't matter, you have to go to Aunt Carol's right away.

KIM: I can't, that's why I'm calling.

JACK: Why what's wrong?

KIM:  It's Megan. Her dad freaked out this morning and hit her. I'm at the hospital right now.

JACK: Sweetheart I'm sorry but you have to let that go. It's not safe in Los Angeles today.

KIM: Why not?

JACK: Something bad's gonna happen sweetheart, just trust me.

KIM: Dad, tell me!

JACK: Sweetheart there's a nuclear bomb in Los Angeles, it might go off today.

KIM: Oh my god. Alright, uh… Um. I'll leave, but-

JACK: No buts Kim. Go. Now.

KIM: But what about you dad? Are you gonna meet me at Aunt Carol's?

JACK: Yes, as soon as I'm finished here at CTU, I'll be right there. Okay?

KIM: Alright.

JACK: Kim? Don't tell anybody about this okay? We can't start a panic.

KIM: Okay.

JACK: Call me as soon as you get there.

KIM: Okay. Uh.. Dad I love you.

JACK: I love you too sweetheart. Now go.

KIM: Okay.

MICHELLE: George wanted me to find out if I can do anything to help.

JACK: No thank you.

MICHELLE: I can fill out that boilerplate stuff then you can walk.

JACK: Michelle I know that George wants me outta here, take my advice, don't get caught in the middle.

[Michelle glances at George. Nina enters with several guards. Nina's in chains. Jack looks up.]

MASON: Hello Nina. So you weren't just working for the Drazens. Selling information to anybody who'd buy it. Presidential assassins, terrorists, didn't matter. Hm… What do know about this nuclear bomb?

NINA MYERS: Here are the terms George, they're nonnegotiable. I'll give up my contacts, the background material, all my intel. I'll work with whoever you want here, or out at the field. For that- I want a full presidential pardon. 3rd party certification, guaranteed in writing.

MASON: It's not gonna fly.

NINA: Then take me back.

MASON: You're not buying a used car here. You have to deal within the confines of reality. You're not gonna get anything unless you produce results.

NINA: It's in my interest to produce results.

[Mason exits.]

JACK: She gonna help?

[Reza gets up, Tony looks up, back down.]

TONY: Could you sit down please? We're not done. Sit down.

REZA: Uh!

TONY: Sit down!

[Reza sits down.]

TONY: Why don't you tell me about Syed Ali…?

REZA: Told you before I do not know a Syed Ali.

TONY: Oh you don't. Then how do you explain the fact that his name is in your personal computer files?

[Reza looks at computer. Tony looks at him.]

REZA: I don't know.

TONY: You don't know. Alright.

[Tony smirks, turns back computer.]

TONY: Why don't we start again.

BOB: Where's Marie?

KATE: She's still in her room, working on the dress.

BOB: How much longer is he gonna be in there with Reza?

RICHARDS: Sorry sir I don't know.

KATE: Dad. She's gonna find out the second she walks out of the room. Are we gonna be able to go through with this?

BOB: What do you mean?

KATE: The wedding! Dad it's in less then 6 hours.

BOB: No one's canceling anything; just make sure Marie stays away from these people, okay?

STANTON: I am not comfortable with this.

KRESEGE: We already flagged the restricted topics, so..

[Hands phone to President.]

PALMER: Yes, Ryan.

RYAN CHAPPELLE: Mr. President. We have an update on the Nina Myers situation. She's demanding a full presidential pardon.

JACK: Here my debrief, is finished.

MICHELLE: Thanks. ... I am supposed to get you out of here. That's not gonna happen is it?

JACK: It's the first time I've seen Nina since-

MICHELLE: Why are you doing this to yourself Jack, Mason's right, you should get out of here.

[Michelle goes answer phone.]

MICHELLE: Michelle Dessler.

OPERATOR: Is Jack Bauer here please?

MICHELLE: Yes.. Jack! Jack. It's for you.

JACK: Yup.

OPERATOR: Jack Bauer?

JACK: Yes.

OPERATOR: Mr. Bauer, please hold one moment for the President.

PALMER: Jack?

JACK: Mr. President.

PALMER: I want to thank you for you good work this morning.

JACK: Yes sir.

PALMER: Jack there's something else, I think should be heard from me personally. It's Nina Myers. I'm gonna have to grant her a shadow asylum.

JACK: That sounds like a pardon sir.

PALMER: It is. And only a couple people would ever know about it. She'll be deported to another country. Jack I know how difficult this must be for you to hear. It was a painful decision. But as you know, she has information that can help us find this bomb, I wish there's another way.

JACK: So do I, sir.

PALMER: Let's just get through this thing. Eventually we'll make it right.

JACK: Yes sir.

PALMER: Thank you Jack.

[Hangs up.]

MICHELLE: What is it?

[Jack fumes.]

JACK: They're gonna let her go.

[Phone rings. Man (Miguel.) answers.]

Miguel: Hello?

KIM: I've been trying to reach you.

MIGUEL: I had my cell off, I was recording.

KIM: I need you.

MIGUEL: I need you too.

[Miguel laughs.]

KIM: Quit it Miguel. I'm in trouble.

MIGUEL: What happened? Are you okay?

KIM: No, no, no. It's not me, it's Megan. Look, you have to come help me.

MIGUEL: Help you do what? What's going on?

KIM: I.. I can't explain it over the phone, just get over here please Miguel, I really need you.

MIGUEL: Kim, I have a whole studio full of people!

KIM: You just have to trust me, I wouldn't ask you if it wasn't important. Miguel.

MIGUEL: Okay. Where are you?

[George takes pills in the bathroom. Washes face. Jack approaches.]

JACK: President Palmer told me he has to take the deal with Nina. I want the case, I know how she thinks.

MASON: Really?

[George throws away paper tissue and exits, accidentally leaving behind his anti-nausea medication for radiation. Jack spots medication.]

MICHELLE: Good. Set up here. Have it ready to go.

MAN: Okay.

MICHELLE: You find it yet?

MAN: No, no plus 5 here.

MICHELLE: Try the DC lines and the phone circuits.

[Computers are back in order.]

MICHELLE: Great! Great! Skip the virus cycle and it's all online.

JACK: Michelle I need you to get me all of Mason's login sheets over the last 12 hours, I need to know where he's been.

MICHELLE: I'm sorry Jack, you're not cleared for that information.

[Jack grabs Michelle by the arm.]

JACK: Then clear me for it! I'm right in the middle of this thing. You know what the stakes are!

MICHELLE: What does it have to do with George?

JACK: I need to make sure he's fit to run CTU.

MICHELLE: Fit?

JACK: I think something's happened to him. Michelle, believe it or not, I used to run this place, I know what I'm doing. I wanna help him. Please. Get me those login sheets.

BOB: He's in the dining room... Marie!

[Marie tries to get past door, Richards blocks her.]

MARIE: Who are you?

RICHARDS: M'am, I'm Agent Richards, CTU Los Angeles.

KATE: Reza's in the room, talking to another agent.

MARIE: What for? And what does he want with Reza? Dad?

MARIE: I want to see Reza right now!

RICHARDS: Sorry m'am, I can't let you in at this time.

MARIE: Uh! This is our house! I want you out of here! Now! Kate! Do you know what's going on here?

KATE: Marie I want you to come with me.

MARIE: Why?!

KATE: Please.

KATE: This whole thing, started with me. Please try and understand, I saw something in the company's books that didn't check out, so I hired a private investigator to check up on Reza.

MARIE: You what?!

KATE: The  investigator came across the name of a man who's Reza's had dealings with; a man who's involved with terrorist activities.

MARIE: What?!

KATE: I did it for you, Marie. To protect you!

MARIE: To protect me...? All this time, you've been checking up on Reza?! Behind our backs?!

KATE: These people found out something about Reza! About his past! If he's keeping something from you, wouldn't you rather know about it now?

MARIE: What business of this is yours?! This is my life! How dare you interfere with it like this? On my wedding day! Hiring a private investigator? That's insane Kate, insane!

BOB: Marie, just calm down. Okay? These men, are gonna be outta here in a few minutes, alright, it's just a big misunderstanding. Okay? Just try to remember, that we're a family.

MARIE: Not anymore. I don't want you to at the wedding.

[Marie points at Kate.]

BOB: No Marie, come on.

KATE: Wh-?

MARIE: No dad, it is unacceptable that she did this without telling me!

KATE: Marie! I'm sorry! It was wrong of me not to tell you first.

MARIE: Apology accepted. Now get outta here.

[Miguel exits cab. Kim walks over.]

KIM: Miguel! Where's the car!

MIGUEL: I let Rob take it, why?

KIM: We need it!

MIGUEL: We'll take a cab!

KIM: We can't!

MIGUEL: Kim, what's going on?

KIM: We need to get Megan out of here.

MIGUEL: What happened?

KIM: Gary threw her to the ground, she hit her head and the doctor thinks that there's evidence of other things too.

MIGUEL: Uhh.. Did you talk to the police?

KIM: I can't! He threatened to arrest me for kidnapping if I said anything.

MIGUEL: Kidnapping!?

KIM: I took her out of the house! I had to.

MIGUEL: Look.. Uh.. She's safe as long as she's in the hospital. You need to talk to Carla!

KIM: It's too late for that.

MIGUEL: What do you mean?

KIM: Look, you know that building that blew up today, my father used to work there. They go after terrorists, I talked to him a half hour ago, and he seems to think we need to get out of LA as soon as possible.

MIGUEL: Why...?

KIM: Come here. He said there's a nuclear bomb in the city. And he thinks it's gonna go off today.

MIGUEL: Whoa..

KIM: I know.

MIGUEL: You believe him?

KIM: Yeah I believe him.

MIGUEL: Then let’s get outta here!

KIM: No we can't- not without Megan.

[They nod.]

[George throws a coughing fit as he goes up to his office.]

MASON: What are you doing in my office?

JACK: How long did they give you? George, I know you were exposed to high-level of radioactive material around Panorama city this morning.

MASON: How you figure that out?

JACK: Your anti-nausea medication. It's for radiation sickness. I checked the logs, made a few calls- You inhaled plutonium George.

MASON: So?

JACK: So I'm not the only person who shouldn't be here today.

[Jack hands Mason back his medication.]

JACK: How long do you have?

MASON: I'll probably be dead this time tomorrow. Why, what it to you.

JACK: I want to know what your plans for Nina.

MASON: As soon as we get a signature from Palmer, she'll tell us everything we know.

JACK: Who's gonna be the handler?

MASON: O'Neil.

JACK: Forget about O'Neil. I want to do it.

MASON: I'm dying Jack. I'm not crazy. You and Nina together is a recipe for disaster.

JACK: Maybe, but if you don't do this. I'll phone District, and tell them about your condition. They'll replace you within minutes. George- we want the same thing. We want to finish this thing and find the bomb. Let me do it.

MASON: Go ahead.

JACK: I'm sorry.

KRESEGE: The ambassador's chopper took off a few minutes ago. As soon as he gets on the plane, he and Salim will conference with the Prime Minister.

PALMER: How soon can we expect the intelligence reports back?

KRESEGE: Within the hour, and then we'll get updates every 30 minutes afterwards.

PALMER: Okay. I think you better set up a call with joint-chiefs. I have a feeling that they're not going to be  happy with the information exchange, talk them through it.

KRESEGE: Right away sir.

STANTON: Mr. President, take a look at this, internal feed from Fox news.

[Fox news, clip of the Ambassador's helicopter being blown out of the sky.]

PALMER: Where was this? Los Angeles?

STANTON: No sir, it's right here.

PALMER: I don't understand.

STANTON: It's the ambassador's chopper, crashed just after take off. First indications are that there are no survivors.

MAN: Surveillance is all hooked up in the  interrogation room Michelle.

MAN (Phone): Mr. Bauer, ther-

JACK(Phone): I'm going to have to get back to you.

MAN (Phone): Alright.

[Jack hangs up. Jack sees Nina through surveillance monitors. Nina looks straight at him. Jack looks away.]
